Lol at least the offer will dried up when attaining the point of 9. And start going up a little and stable for sometimes if there’s no other shock in global market. Next week will throw a clearer picture on market direction
We have a long way to go....
By April/may, we will begin to see the impact; revenue will have dropped, reserve will be down and the heat will be much....

Something is definitely wrong somewhere with the two stocks especially.
Fcmb, fidelity and few other stocks didn't have much volume in premarket, even as at the time I'm typing, but the fact that those two has heavy offers will make people to be bringing out their wares in other stocks too.
When gtb and zenith are hit by rampaging bear, it is only a matter of time for the likes of fidelity and fcmb to take their turn.

You are right sir, a high dose of common sense is actually needed in times like this.Having ones portfolio 100% cash might not be too wise in a time like this, although having a substantial cash as part of your portfolio is wisdom. Unfortunately most people dont understand that the word "cash is king" does not necessarily means "portfolio = 100% cash" .In some situations "cash could be thrash".

Timing the market is just a waste of time- No one can actually tell when a reversal would happen, especially in a world with so much uncertainties,

Bear market is not just a period of calamity but also a period of opportunity for those that are prepared.

I have never seen so much FEAR (pessimism)on the exchanges in recent time. So i need to be GREEDY. But the question is when ?. Since i cant time the market (reversal),i would just keep buying value(bargains) on a scale down.

These are just my personal thought, please stick to what works for you.
Everyone with his own strategy.
There are however some factors we need to consider when playing this game.
It has been established that FPI play a very significant role in the direction the market goes.
They have at best been on the sideline for a while, among other reasons being that they expect the naira to be devalued.

Holding dollar assets at this point in time make a lot of sense to me:
-the probability that NSE will continue to go lower is high
-and if the naira is eventually devalued, converting back to naira will give one opportunity to buy cheaper stocks with more money.
-and if oil price stabilizes and there is no devaluation, one has nothing to loose.

I agree, no one can accurately pick the bottom but we can use all the information available to us to maximize our gains.

What we are experiencing now in the crude oil market is teaching of reason. OPEC want to educate those non - OPEC oil producing countries that always take advantage of OPEC cut, that oil can possibly go far below their budget benchmark.

If not because of drop in price of stocks price, I will even like the crude to visit $5, it will help correct some political problems in Nigeria in the near future. Restructuring the country will be so easy with crude oil price at $5, true federalism will come very quickly.

Implication, if the crude oil price falling continues, with this new minimum wage, soon many states will go bankrupt and will not be able to pay their civil servants. Crime rate will increase.

Let the will of God be done, his is just and everything he does is right.
Be careful of what you wish for....
Low oil price will affect everybody in the country.
The federal government might go bankrupt this time around.

Let's look at it this way. Now Zenith is at 17.

Tomorrow is markdown. So 2.50 will be deducted. This takes it to N14.50.

If that same day there is this huge offer to exit, then take 10% off the 14.50. This brings it to N13.10.

Same offer on Wednesday, this takes it to N11.80

Thursday : 10% off, this becomes N10.7

Friday : end of discussion, same 10% offer N9.7

Then next week, we don't know the news that will be out then.

Is N5 not close?
Not that fast..... grin

Bros, there is nothing wrong with fundamentals of most company around the world.

Investors are pricing in lots of things right now with the coronavirus and oil price issues. They are even pricing in US and global recession. The US 10 year yield is pushing the Fed to do further cut.

There is flight to safety first. Everything is falling including Gold and Bitcoins.

Sebi, your 4% is back in the market too. You hope to pick Zenith at N10 from some people. This year 2020 is really looking like it is a planting year.
With the current state of oil in the international market, Zenith at N10 is a possibility though I don't think that will happen in just a week.

Not at all bro !!
...Anyone who keys into UCAP today, WILL definitely qualify for the 50k dividend !!(I already gave enough guide to this qualification thing in times past)
The T+3 day period is basically for funds settlement. ...but even then, there are brokers who'd remit ur funds to u even earlier than the 3 days circle. In retrospect, it can be T+X days(where x can be 0, 1 or 2 days). This, though depends on the brokerage firm, ur portfolio size and ur relationship with them.
The only exception is if u had applied for funds remittances via the DCS(direct cash settlement), then it'll have to be T+2 days with proceeds remitted on the 2nd day if it falls into a working day,(btw mon-fri) or otherwise, the next closest working day.

If T+3 days were used for security/share lodgement, then it would be impossible to buy and sell ur shares in coys on the same day.
An investor who buys today, is simply added to the register while the seller is removed prior to mark down on Monday 9th Feb.
So YES, he qualifies !!

Hope its clearer now.
I have shared my experience on this before.
I bought a stock 2 days to qualification date and I was not paid the dividend.
The explanation giving by my broker was this nonsense T+3 days settlement thing.

I will like others to share their experience.

To avoid missing out such opportunities why not buy in tranches. When your target purchase price is met you can but a bit and observe the price movement. If it drops more you buy, if it rallies you haven't lost out completely.

Should an investor in Zenith bank or Gtbank be disturbed when the prices keep dropping or this should spur him or her to buy more knowing fully well that the banks have been performing better year on year. I have been looking at Dangote cement for a while now, the latest results is not that encouraging as many indicators of the company's results did not make me excited but at N100 / N120 it will be too good for me to ignore. Ditto with MTN at any price below N100 will be a good entry price. Whenever I achieve (100% gains) if I am able to, in any of these company's. I will book my capital and find other opportunities around the investment space. Should I also look at the prices every day? Yes, I do and do I read the financials? Yes I do but not as much as I will want to because my holdings in them have not yet reached 10% or 5%. Please monitor your investments oooo.
You didn't discover MTN, DC, Zenith and GT to be a good companies by looking at fluctuations in daily price..

Let me ask you this question, what do you gain by monitoring live the fluctuations in prices of your zenith bank? Mind you, you can always buy more by setting your buy limit order as price falls.

Coming from a ban by the moderators for reasons unknown to me, let me join in this debate.

No sir, with all due respect. grin
Warren Buffett the greatest investor of our time still monitors the market on a daily with researchers working tirelessly for him every minute in Berkshire Hathaway.
It is by following the market that he has just bought into Delta Airlines in the US because airlines are doing badly due to cancellation of flights occasioned by corona (when they bounce back you know the real winner); same way some smart folks cherry-picked FBNH at N4.50 on Monday.
If I recall, she even sounded that FBNH alarm in her live updates.

To be an investor, what she needs to unlearn is the temperament or emotional attachment of a jijoist which makes up the greater part of her currently. If she can achieve a change in paradigm to 80% investor, 20% jijoist temperament, she is good to go.

Everyone (investors and jijoists) needs to keep tabs on the market as often as possible to take full advantage of the opportunities it presents, and to rebalance their portfolio when the fundamentals of a once sound long term company in the portfolio begins to show signs of failure.
I can bet you Warren Buffett doesn't have anyone in his books sitting behind computers monitoring daily fluctuations in prices of his stock investment.
His Researchers are busy pouring over companies annual reports and visiting those companies to ask further questions.

You don't identify a good company by looking at share prices on daily basis.
Buffet did not just buy Delta airlines , he has identified the company as a good one and has been buying since 2016. The pullback occasioned by the corona virus jus afforded him an opportunity to buy a great company selling at a good price.

An investor doesn't just wake up in a day and decides to buy a stock just because price is falling. Rather he would have done the necessary homework on that stock and was only waiting for the price to be right before he strikes.

Being an investor and a trader is not impossible but requires greater discipline.
The daily noise in the market offers no help to an investor.
