Paulfroshman: As a newbie in the stock market, I have decided to consider dividend yield. I might opt for capital appreciation if there is any opportunity for that. I would be glad if you can enlighten a little on the following stocks:
● Dang Cem@172 - is it a good buy at the current price and if I choose to buy some units, will I be entitled to the Dividend Payout Come February ending?
● Zenith Bank@21.70 - is it a good buy at the current price and if I choose to buy some units, will i be entitled to the Dividend Payout Come February ending?
● Also UCAP@2.61 - Is It a good buy at the current price? You will do yourself more favour by digging deeper. Find out how much those companies paid out last year as dividend. Take what they paid last year ,divide it by the current price and multiply by 100. That will give you the probable dividend yield for this year. The other question is, can those companies pay what they paid last year or more? This one is thickish and you will need to dig deeper and deeper...... As at q3 2019, you find out how much profits those companies have made compared to the previous year. Is it more or less? That will give you an idea of what might likely happen with dividend payments at the end of this year.... To broaden your knowledge about the companies, you can look at financials plus dividend history for the past 3, 5, 10 years. Has the profits been increasing/decreasing from year to year? Ditto for the dividends. Let me stop here for now....... |

But they should stay and pay school fees
After, they'll not repeat the school fees again. .....all of us paid school fees na, including you Sir. It is better they don't get burnt o.... Many will vow not to return to stock market again... Some of my friends that we entered market together in 2006 are not ready to listen to any story about stock market again after the 2008/2009 market crash. |

Mcy56: Ok thanks. I contacted them and the anomaly corrected. Chai! People missed out of this wonderful opportunity o. Imagine the tashere units showing over 150% profit. Think we have to be doing indepth analysis of special arrangements like this going forward. If a stock doesn't meet your investment criteria, you will not see any stock that you did not buying and doing 100%, 200% as a missed opportunity.... |

maishai: all ears down....... Waiting patiently for your revue of Dangote cement ....... My investment philosophy is to analyze already declared results and take position. I don't base my investment decision on nse on potential or what might happen in the future. Giving the current market condition, DC is expensive compared with other available options. They have cash which is a positive one and the share buy back should also be good for the share price..... |

wanaj0: The fundamentals of the economy has not changed. Bull is mainly driven by FPI which for now are not finding Nigeria attractive. Local investors (PFA) are behind the current movements but they don't have unlimited funds.
So, time to be fully invested BUT the bulls may not come as quickly as some are expecting. Thanks. |

Gokoyer0: Thanks for the reply. I checked investnow out and they have a very good website and nice app as well. But which one of the products do you think I can start with? The major advantage of Morgan over others is their low commission. They seem to have the lowest commission for retail traders with no deep pocket. |

Gokoyer0: Ok sir. Thanks. But the way TBills rate and bonds are going down, it seems stock trade is the way now but I learnt it's more risky than those 2 afore-mentioned. If you have not done stocks before, don't rush into it now that the market is already bullish. |

rebekah2011: Good morning Sir. The fundamental of the company is strong. The price is attractive for now. I saw the February date after I have made my comment. If you buy now, in my view it is a bargain. Oga OGG has done plenty of analysis. DC EPS for q3 is N9.10. Less profit was made q/q and y/y. For a company selling for N142, don't you think the company is still selling at a premium? Or are you still banking on the tax credit for improvement in PAT at year end just like they did last year |

DigitalMallam: Advise noted. But will NEVER put a kobo into Nigerian stock. Some of the scenario you painted above: a PFA that bought a share for N140 got dividend of N3 consecutively for the stipulated 5yrs = N15 gain and lost N90/share is that a good / viable venture? Let me reiterate, I'm sticking to what I can understand with proven track record, things one can analyse with available data and predictive analysis and not a lottery/gambling - 'maifada da chikawa' On a lighter note - I love beer. Stock investment is not for everyone. Your decision to stay away from Nigeria stock might be a good one. However, that you lost money in the stock market does not mean that the stock market is bad. People who understand the game are making good money in the Nigeria stock market market while some others are loosing money. That is the major difference between stock and Tb. |

mendes911: I hope WAPCO faithfuls that complained of not having enough are buying today. I wouldn't want anyone to come and complain again when the stock starts gaining.
The cross-trade that took the stock to 15.30 might still happen again today! Maybe... The overhead supply in WAPCO is much.... People need to tread carefully.... |
