BusinessRe: Dollar Scarcity Stops Capital Repatriation By Investors by pmoye(m): 3:16pm On Apr 27, 2020
You sound like an investment expert. smiley I must confess.

I personally expect the price of land to crash in some parts of the country, but not the eyebrow areas. With the rising cost of commodities coupled with the fact that a lot of people are going to need money to meet basic needs, more people with landed properties are likely going to consider liquidating such assets to raise money, while on the average we might have fewer buyers of such landed properties. If this assessment is correct, then the buyers are likely going to influence the price causing some depression in the price of landed properties (not eyebrow areas though).

Oh yes, I have had a number of businesses in Nigeria for some time now.

PHijo:
Yes, you are right. Property prices would be affected. I doubt the impact on land will be that significant. Nigeria's stock market will have serious challenges going forward. Nonetheless I wouldn't advice against investing in it if you understand what you are doing. Currently the prospects for investing in Nigeria are limited.

USD would have been a good alternative but I believe those who have it are already hoarding it.

Bitcoin is also not for those who don't understand it. Many fraudsters use it to defraud the unsuspecting public.

Depending on how much you have, this may be the best time to start your own business in Nigeria!

As much as you can, look for ventures that can earn USD or some other stable forex.
BusinessRe: Dollar Scarcity Stops Capital Repatriation By Investors by pmoye(m): 2:54pm On Apr 27, 2020
Bitcoin. Hmmm. I have read up about it but I still don't know enough to invest in it.

My previous experience with the clash in the Nigerian stock market about a decade ago is still fresh in my memory. I invested a substantial part of the money made during internship in Nigerian stock market which unfortunately was being manipulated, only for the stocks to crash heavily. I took it as learning process and moved on, and decided not to ever invest in something I do not perfectly understand the attendant risks and how to mitigate those. Since that time I have never tried to check the value of those shares... Now bitcoin. Let's say I inherited a large deal of reluctance from my experience with NSE.

I have thought about properties, but I also suspect that the crashing economy will affect the value of land and real estate in Nigeria as well. I am more comfortable with commodity market and saving in foreign currencies. The commodity market is likely to adjust more rapidly to changes in the value of Naira than real estate.

PHijo:
Yes, or bitcoin. The Naira's near future is gloomy.
BusinessRe: Dollar Scarcity Stops Capital Repatriation By Investors by pmoye(m): 1:12pm On Apr 27, 2020
Thanks a lot for the clarification. It is probably a good idea to save money in foreign currency than in Naira right now.

I got the rate I quoted from https://www.xe.com/currencyconverter/convert/?Amount=1&From=USD&To=NGN

PHijo:
It is exchange rate futures! How much people would be ready to swap both currencies at a future date.

Meanwhile is your N390/$ official or shadow market rate?
BusinessRe: Dollar Scarcity Stops Capital Repatriation By Investors by pmoye(m): 12:54pm On Apr 27, 2020
Not sure if this is important, but the value of Naira to dollar stands at about N390/$.

Perhaps "Naira to $ in forwards market" means something other than the simple exchange rate.

dre11:
• Naira falls to N498/$ in forwards market

You're probably right.
I have always had the mindset (a misconception perhaps) that the Family section was for married people, and that most people interested in a relationship could be found in the Romance section.

Sirvingeo:
Pmoye, you shouldn't have made such announcement on romance section . you should have done that on family, career or computer section. This section might have fewer people but trust me you will likely meet responsible ladies.

Thank you. Attacking people still doesn't make you a useful person, neither does it redeem the loss your parents incurred in birthing and rearing you.

Lmao.

You absolutely do not matter and that is why this is specifically paining you.
You obviously are looking for how to get involved in other people's drama.
Once again, it is of no consequence whether or not you (or any anyone) believe the post. And I am not offended if you (or anyone) call this post fake. I am 100 per cent confident that those to whom the message is directed get the message.

Please find another drama to carry for head. Zoom off bumble bee.

Ariza:
show evidences with names blurred. Screenshots of numerous PMs you received with the names of senders cleared out. You will be taken seriously until then you remain one of the attention starved guys here who would do anything for relevancy.

I even wonder what sane being would expect a responsible lady to respond to sudden relationship advert. An online one with no basis or certainty for that matter!

By evidence you expect me to come out here to post people's monikers and record of messages exchanged with them, right? No, I'm not a child. Or what sort of evidence exactly are you interested in?

Funny, it is not relevant whether or not you believe my 'claims'. Absolutely unimportant.

Ariza:
So a person can just wake up, create a thread and lay accusations on a set of people without evidence to back his claims.
Moreover Op you failed to realize that most of these so called female monikers are being run by Guys to fraud unsuspecting members.

RomanceRe: E-relationship: Are You A Lady And You Are Interested? by pmoye(op): 9:45am On Apr 27, 2020
Not necessarily. My intention was never to make comparison between ladies on the street and ladies here. On the street there's the chance that you are a little familiar with a lady or guy's manners before you decide to approach the person. Here, that is not easy to do and that's why, by my experience, I find it extremely shocking that all (not some, but all) the ladies who got in touch with few short days asked for money. Also, 'on the streets' you are likely to naturally gravitate towards girls or guys of similar social/financial level as you. For this reason, a financially sufficient babe that I meet 'on the street' is unlikely to be interested on asking for money within few days of meeting me.
You should get the point.

Onego:
The ladies on the street are they better, all ladies are not the same okay

Thanks a lot bestabigaelever.

At what point exactly do you think a man should reach a conclusion about such things? After two ladies, 3, 4, 5, ... 10??

I do not judge all girls; all I am doing is to reach a conclusion about Nairaland girls. From my experience I believe this conclusion is accurate for me. Perhaps some men have had more favorable outcome with Nairaland babes, I am happy for them and my experience doesn't necessarily invalidate theirs.

So, no I am not judging all girls. But as for me, evil shall not arise a second time.

An update. Attached.

pmoye:
Few weeks ago I made a terrible mistake of making a post asking for long distance relationship (e-relationship I called it) with any interested Nairaland babes. Quite a number of ladies reached out and got in touch.

I must confess that all of them seemed to be pleasant individuals.

However, within a few days all of them have started asking me for money, from 20k to 800k (some undisclosed amount). And while I politely declined that that's an inappropriate behaviour towards someone you're just meeting, a significant number of them abused me for turning them down. They somehow have this mindset that I have some sort of responsibility towards them even though we have only just met online.

This forum is really a jungle of indecent manners, a platform some girls have decided to use to monetize the faintest semblance of friendship with the opposite sex. It is not a man's job to fund your luxurious or penurious life, much less a man you have just met and in whose life you have no stake. I know how to take responsibility for people in my life, including girlfriends: and it is sad that many girls here have misinterpreted this sense of duty to mean an express right to a man's pocket regardless of the absence of a relationship with such a man... It is inappropriate.

Build relationship and trust first before making financial requests of any kind. It is your father, mother and brother's responsibility to fund your life as a girl. You can claim right with these your family members, but never with a man you have no relationship with. It will go a long way for ladies to do away with your nauseating sense of entitlement. Exchange of things, including affection and ideas, should be mutual...

I am not going to call anyone out.

I am no longer interested in any e-relationship with any Nairaland babe. Kindly ignore my former post attached below.

Cheers.

I am sure it sounds funny, but why not?

By the realities of our time many of us end up traveling and living far away from where potential mates are located. I am personally and increasingly thinking about the possibility of contracting an e-relationship with any interested female. Any babe who is interested, or is curious enough should send me a pm.

How come most young men and women find it difficult to sort their own matters out instead of bringing it to the SM?
You have the hard facts staring you corocoro and you're here asking people what to do.

Well, if you must ask, pardon her. And when she gets impregnated by the other man, you should still pardon her. Just keep pardoning her you hear? Good boy.

ToyBoyAaron:
I have been in this relationship for almost 3 years now... I never knew I could love a lady this much because I am the kind of guy that doesn't give a sh*t. Things started changing when we started working at different places. She have a neighbour that claims he loves her and wants to marry her. I warned her about the guy and she assured me nothing will ever happen.
Few weeks ago she confessed to me that she dated him late last year just to push him away by frustrating him. She started with she must confessed she cheated on me, i almost stopped breathing and asked sex? She said no she dated the guy. I was shocked because the way she demonstrated her love to me makes me believe nothing can ever go wrong from her side. I forgave her after she explained the whole incident claiming there was no kiss or sex.
She visited me today and slept off, I decided to read her chat with this man. Guess what? They actually kissed because he said he can't focus after the day he kissed her. Scrolling down I got the biggest shock of my life. She asked... What if she was pregnant.
What do I need? I must confess I have anger issues and wants answers almost immediately (I don't get violent but I might yell and refuse talking for long if not clarified) she's sleeping now peacefully and I am at the verge of exploding. How can I demand answers calmly. Please experienced folks calm me down.

That's mostly as a result of the drugs you're taking. You were probably given a yellow tablet (Nitrofurantoin) which when taken makes you pass that kind of urine. The drug is however not very effective. You should have taken better drugs.
