Even as Tinubu is attempting to 'buy' Ondo State with Lagos loot, he should watch his back, the rug is going to be pulled from his feet in Lagos come 2015.
PoliticsRe: Fashola (666) - Lagos: The Unanswered Questions by PointB: 9:27pm On Aug 08, 2012
The people had schools in Makoko. Just where would their children go to school now? The scene I watched on Aljazeera was indeed a very shameful one. A working governor, particularly one on whose behalf the South-West media seems to exist, should have taken the people’s plight as his own personal responsibility.

PoliticsRe: Remove GEJ & Prepare For War – Dokubo Asari Warns North by PointB: 9:26am On Aug 07, 2012
Rheinmetal: Only those who have never witnessed war pray for it.

Mr. Dokubo there's a difference between machine-gunning innocent drunken revelers and carting off expatriates into creeks and fighting a drawn out full scale war. Stop mistaking the rattling of your mouth for the rattling of sabre.

There are no winners in war only losers.

GEJ, an Ijaw man is president with full executive powers, if he truly wishes to save his presidency, he should convene the SNC and save us this grief.
No one prays for war. But if another war is what Nigeria needs to set things right, so be it. Whether one has witnessed war or not is immaterial in war. Majority of those who fought in the civil war never witnessed it until it came. So will most of us standing around today.

Let's channel our efforts into restructuring Nigeria for equity, fairness and justice NOW! Or war will come upon us all, sooner or later!

I can't say if Igbos are ready to fight alongside Ogoni for freedom. I can only speak for myself in this, I shall not raise a voice against the Ogonis, let alone an arm. I rather help them in anyway I can or let them be. Free Ogoni!

PoliticsRe: How Did Rochas Okorocha Become So Rich?! by PointB: 8:16am On Aug 07, 2012
owobokiri: Yours make good sense. Why? A lot of people have always said that the ALGON jeep contracts in the early 90s made him, but i know for sure that he was relatively rich before that contract. That means he was into other stuffs earlier.

People also forget that he is a real estate mogul. Rochas has a habit of buying up the choicest plots in places like Abuja, Owerri and Jos. He bought the plot opposite the governors lodge in Owerri before he became the governor. He invested heavily in Abuja when folks were still afraid to leave Lagos. Imagine buying off lands in Asoknro for peanuts and making a killing several years later as the place turns into a highbrow area. He started off as a business man, then did some good contracts for government, then reinvested wisely in real estate and mining and was set for life.

For those saying that Rochas is corrupt, that is FALSE. Talk to his worst critics from his state, they will tell you that though they have issues with his style, dude is not a theif. I dont even want to dignify that nonsense about rituals with a comment. You always hear that from lazy people. . The OPs question is reasonable in as much as it was made with clear intentions.
Looks like Rochas has passed the Litmus test!

GEJ does not trust the northerners or so it seems so he is surrounding himself with southerners instead. Can't blame him though.
Perhaps Ironsi would have been alive today, and there would have been no civil war, if he had done similarly.

PoliticsRe: How Did Rochas Okorocha Become So Rich?! by PointB: 9:56am On Aug 06, 2012
Ournaija: Good question. I hope you will learn from it as am going to take the pain to tell you.

Rochas grew up in Jos and became a teacher. He had a tutorial center where kids come to learn and prepare for exams. Many became great scholars through his centre and he was recognized. The children of the rich also patronized him even the Gbong Gwom of Jos kids also patronized his center. That is why it`s easy for him to give free education because it`s his business.

Sometimes, in the early 90s IBB went to Jos and asked the Gbon Gwom of Jos to provide an educationist who can implement an educational scheme for Plateau then and he was recommended. He implemented the scheme successfully and he was given the privilege to replicate it in all the Northern states. This is how he got his way into government. He later won the contracts to supply Prado Jeeps and other stuffs across the federation. That was how he continue to grow from...............

Lesson
Whatever you findeth you hand to do, do it well, money will locate you.
This sounds more like it.

Ogonis said they are tired being called Nigerians, we have to let them be or show them why Nigeria is a good choice. Frankly speaking, it doesn't look that way at all with all the bombs going off in the North with the connivance of the local populace.

Me say deal with the Northern armed insurrection before the Ogoni peaceful declaration!

How can we refer to that shack in the picture as mosque? I mean how could people proudly hold that piece of disjointed carpentry work in that filth as mosque? Na wa o.

What I see if a front for criminal activities, as no well meaning people should dignify that crap with the title of a mosque. If the Anambra State Government is really serious about dealing with the Head Bridge issue once and for all, that shack and anything that stands in the way should be dismantled without further waste of time. I rather empty, green space, than that thing currently there.

thomason: Ex cultist? Can you prove that bro? OGD was there for 8 good years and you didnt see anything wrong but quick to pass the blame to Amosun who is just a year in power, lets criticize him in 2015.
OGD? The less said the better.

As for Amosun:

X-factoria:
I don't know why people are surprised about the character of Amosun. I blame the Nigerian media for not shinning light properly on the character of this man.

Amosun was a cultist when he was in Ojere i.e. Ogun State Polytechnic now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic. In the days preceding the 2007 governorship election in Ogun State in which Amosun contestd against OGD under the umbrella of ANPP, Amosun was shown on Gateway TV in the midst of youths raising machets and cutlasses and chanting "O n f'iku sere o, o n f'iku sere, OGD o n f'iku sere" meaning "he is toying with death, he is toying with death, OGD he is toying with death". The point I am making is that, this guy is not different from OGD in terms of malevolence and all. They are birds of like feathers only seperated by ambition.

Congrats to the Ogoni people for the bold move. I would have preferred they go for full autonomy - secession, Let us see if Nigeria will slaughter another 1.2 million people for their oil.

Beyond the rhetoric and congratulatory messages, well meaning groups and individuals should make it politically toxic for Nigeria to use force against the Ogonis.

Ogonis, our brother, cousins, and friends have been through hell in Nigeria. We should 'free' them!

Gbong Gwom Jos calls for formation of vigilance groups

Jos – The Gong Gwom Jos, Da Gyang Buba, on Thursday called on youths in communities prone to attacks to form vigilance groups to protect their villages.

Buba, gave the advice when he visited the communities located in Barkin-Ladi and Riyom local government areas.

He said that such groups would form the core “alert groups” toward proactive efforts to check the attacks.

“We expect that such vigilance groups will close the gap between the locals and security agents and would assist the latter with the necessary information to ensure the safety of the citizenry,” he said.

The Gbong Gwom Jos expressed dismay over the manner in which youth in the embattled areas still engaged in drunkenness instead keeping vigil to safeguard their communities from attacks.

He called for the re-evaluation and re-assessment of communal living to enable people in communities to know their neighbours and strangers.

Buba assured the people that the traditional rulers in the state would continue to play their advisory role and speak the truth about the situation in the state, without fear or favour and until measures were taken to restore genuine peace.

Mr Emmanuel Lomang, Chairman, Barkin Ladi Local Government in his remark at Kakuruk, condemned the continuous attacks in the area.

He expressed dissatisfaction with efforts of the military Special Task Force (STF) maintaining peace in the area.

“We want to note, with dismay, that some people violated STF’s order to vacate their villages, and used that time to destroy structures at Gashish.

“Now, the people that survived the attacks have been rendered homeless,” he said.

Mr Sam Audu, Chairman, Riyom Local Government, on his part thanked the monarch for the visit, and said that it was a demonstration of his (monarch’s) love for his people.

Audu appealed to the state government to complete the Hoss-Bachi rural road, which was budgeted for in the 2012 appropriation, adding that that its completion would ease movement during emergency situations.

The Chairman said that the people of the area were law abiding and expressed their readiness to embrace all peace initiatives by the government. (NAN)

HNosegbe: But seriously, I think he's right. Though I'm no fan of the current administration, I wouldn't expect 100% implementation because humans ain't perfect.

My issue with national budgets, however, has always been the capital-recurrent ratio. Maybe Dr Okupe can spin another excuse for that one too. Go ahead sir, nothing do you. cool
I also don't like the ratio.
But let government attempt cutting it down, by reducing the number of Ministries, and MDA, or cutting down on salaries and allowances. Guess, who will first oppose such move?
Yes, you guessed right - National Assembly, and the Labour Unions.

The NA will reject serious cut to their allowance and perks, while the Labour Union will insist the attendant 'retrenchment' will lead to massive unemployment. The solution remains making the center and government employment unattractive.
