1. That is a lie that is from your programming. Marriage does absolutely nothing of what you were told it does. It does not bring anyone lasting happiness, fulfillment, joy, companionship, etc. Why? Because those very same things can be obtained by several other means out there outside of marriage.

2. Humanity? Cut the bull! Marriage as practiced in your culture is primarily about servicing self and ego. Most married people see it as their duty to protect only their own children and blood, no one else's matters or counts. Can anything get more self-serving than that?

He is also about the only one who confuses someone saying that harping on bad fuel importation is an exaggeration (since it was a one-time mistake) to someone saying there was no importation at all. What a guy!

I then put the question directly to him and he cannot answer because I was correct and he was wrong. There is absolutely no way that he can prove that I was wrong. He wasn't even talking about bad fuel (I used that as an example that everybody is aware of. He said that there was nothing like importation of petroleum products during the military era because all the refineries were fully working.

(I already know that's false, not only because of the bad fuel, but because General Buhari talks about how they imported refined petrol when he was head of state, I remember when Emeka Ofor was involved in the endless turn around maintenance during the Abacha era, etc).

But it is a simple issue and doesn't require any spin.

Can you answer these questions with a simple yes or no (that will determine if I will continue to engage you).

The exaggeration is that the bad fuel was only a one-time short-lived mistake. The exggeration is that democracy did not end importation of fuel, it increased it. The exaggeration is that those were good, old days for the common man, compared to today!

Democracy is not for every nation. Some nations need a no-nonsense authoritarian visionary to set things right. Where you have corruption rampant including judiciary and INEC, as is the case with Naija, democracy doesn't work!

I'm 30 and I've not been in a relationship in about 12 years, so I was very well like the OP. I use to lose interest in ladies over little character I don't like, but how long will I keep doing that when I can simply teach a lady the right things to do.

These are things I've learnt recently and putting to practice. So, as long as a man or woman are willing to learn and change, why not give them the opportunity to change? At least give enough chance until they've proven that they've changed.

I hope many younger ladies and guys learn early to avoid cases like this.

Good write-up, however it still exhibits the one fundamental flaw in human reasoning - the tendency to assume that everyone else experiences life/reality exactly the same way we do. Infact it seems impossible to us that everyone else does not experience life the way we do. Example, if we can't stand being alone for 5 minutes, it seems impossible to us that there are people who honesyly actually treasure being alone. So also there are people whom "God" speaks to regularly, people who "see" and "hear" things differently, etc.
My point, in short, is that people should speak for themselves and not assume that, just because something applies to them it must apply to everyone else!
