Cooladex: It happens to me a lot. But rider dares not try that shot with me.
I would have checked estimate myself and told him/her.
The way i will present it sef. You must pay me pass d estimate ni sha Real fact except mean riders... Like the lady I carried last week from omole phase one to magodo isheri, she was rude on the phone but after taking 2hrs nap (don't blame, Some Gee gave me 3k Ty after 1700 trip plus 300 change, so napping is allowed), who cares about rider rudeness or destination, I just need a trip... Got to a number before her own, already placing a call to make her know I'm close to reduce waiting time, she raise her voice "Oga call me once you get to my gate", humble me, OK ma! As ride proceeds, she demand to get to few places before final destination, dough it hovers around same axis, as fate we have it, I end trip and it was 3300. Madam voice "I can not pay such, what is it call again, app error abi, 3300 ke", I just crack internal smile, are you a driver? Or when did rider start complaining of app error Rider; u r not talking Me; ma, what do u want me to say, as u can see a trip of 5 mins, we end up spending almost 2hrs, I did not off d engine or a/c (show her fuel gauge) Madam shake her head and did transfer... I pity her next driver, if d app fail, d driver should just forget it, negotiate can not work for her.

I got mad on public holiday which is Wednesday and make him understand his house is just a stone throw from mine, if he provoke me to burst his house, place a call to the girl too... If you have the rider number spread it and let people call him/her for who he/she is, I have never seen such a wicked fellow. Taxify won't help you, but they is a need for the rider to have a feel of insults from different people. The app show 4km, is dat the distance from lekki to airport? Zoharariel: Nigerians are very stupid & crazy! I have a friend who has a younger brother and he used to work with Jumia but not anymore.
He said some assholes would order products on the Jumia website (sometimes fridge, but usually gadgets) using "Pay on Delivery".
And when the products get dispatched with a handler, the assholes who placed the order would come out and say: "Bros, I am very sorry. I just wanted to know if the Pay-on-Delivery" is really working.
My friend's younger brother said it is one of the reasons why Jumia had to cancel "Pay-on-Delivery" in addition to bastards who would order products from its website - using "Pay-on-Delivery" and then killing the despatch rider on delivery & making away with the products.
There's no innovation that can come to Nigeria that will never be abused.
When I was still active on the e-hailing, I went to Uber's office at the Maryland Mall to update my drivers license.
I was on the queue when I heard some guys (drivers) discussing how people were cashing out big in the Uber/Taxify hussle.
When I did not come to Lagos to count bridges & flyovers, I quickly - systematically moved few steps close to them and then amplified my surveillance radar & antennae.
The guy said they would install an app called "Lokitto" on their phone and as soon as a request comes in from a rider and the Trip gets started, the Lokitto app would automatically inflate the "ride's fare".
For example, if a rider orders a ride either via Uber or Taxify and the pick-up point is Ikeja City Mall while the destination is VGC in Lekki.
Usually, the fare from Ikeja City Mall to VGC shouldn't be more than 5k depending on the traffic but the Lokitto App would inflate that amount to 10k or even more.
So the guy telling us the story said a rider reported him and Uber blocked his account, hence the reason he had to visit Uber's office to see if his account could be re-activated - because he said once you get caught, it is an automatic dismissal from the e-hailing platform.
If not for the spirit of Orunmila, I was tempted to collect the app from that guy but the consequence far outweighs the benefits.
I stopped driving on the platform the day I picked a rider from Fola Osibo Street, Lekki Phase 1 to Unilag - and the fare was 1,800Naira.
I sent Ogun (the god of iron) to butcher all the staff of Taxify including Uche - their oga with katana samurai sword.
How many 1,800Naira do I have to glean to maintain my vehicle every month? Fvck their bonuses - I don't chase that.
Until the day Uber & Taxify get back their senses, I will remain seated on the fence and allow the cannon-fodders (new anxious drivers) to be wasting their time, energies & vehicles - Good Morning! Broda J is coming for u... Peeps dat always have free hitch days |

Saintoscar: Its all your fault bros. Its advised that before going out in the morning make sure to check your car and confirme its in good condition. If you had check you'd have known your extra tire is bad and fixed it. In that case you wouldn't have damage your new tire. Take it as a lesson always check your vehicles before moving out. Car wey work perfectly today fit disappoint you tomorrow. I 100% agree with you boss, but I try as much as I can to do routine check... |

I'm exhausted, like sleeping for the rest of the week... Yesterday I was joking in my mind like this work don tire me, my ears are not mine again, things girl's says on phone to question they ask "how do I smell? Does it look like I've smoked? Smell it" Frown face* what's my own now... Can make one have tummy upset.
After a good outing yesterday, around 10pm, got a trip going to ikeja from VGC, happy me, prayer got answered. Just few miles 2 approach 3MB, I don't know what punched my tyres (few weeks old), came down to check, need to change tyre. Open boot, no air in spare tire, had to manage and destroy the tyre to Yaba to have it fix. I woke this morning to realised spare is bad, had to get another tyre, spending around 6k. Head on to Ikorodu this morning, notice steering got hard to turn around the road that leads to Ijede, serpentine belt slipt into 2 (one of the Boris in pulley), had to fix that, buy new belt, spending close to 14k today
It is well.... Profit of 2days gone in a day, it ain't easy, tomorrow is another day |

olusola2bello: Chief you totally make sense.
Truth is we all have our different goals, approaches and attitudea to the business and that's what determines one's success in the business. I have been reading this thread for a long while even before i joined as a driver driving mg own car. Reading the comments i was already discouraged that it was going to b a bad business venture but as i jad just lost my job i decided to ask more folks outside of nairaland.
I started driving april 2nd and honestly i was suprised. I was expecting to net like 5k but surprisingly i was netting way more than that. ..and i only do uber.
My point is it as bad as some folks say the business is now, it definitely isnt aa bad as the picture that was painted....ofcos u also dont turn a millionaire overnight.
Its a tough hustle, body pains, long hours, good and bad riders, etc but with prayer, diligence and favour.. All will be well. Thumbs up boss....it is not as bad atall, but it can still get better some holes can b fill, like someone said taxify fare as been on the low, I felt the heat on Saturday, but today has been scaring as every trips I'm taking has been on the high side I've not gone beyond excellent hotel - magodo today before making 7500. From magodo isheri to ICM 1800, I can't defend that raider gave me 1500, I didn't even complain |

I have seen clearly that your mission here is just to promote uber so this is the last time I'm quoting you. Like my boss said, we know people like you, many have come and gone before you, you will soon join them. Same reason I just keep quite, I'm yet to see who drive for 5 months without a day break... We r very funny in this country, we have a odd way of doing things, if you have been in this business for 2 years, you will obviously agree things are not the way it used to be... Before you can come out around 3pm and still make good on the hustle before 10, but now if you don't follow the 5/6am train, you may have to stay at the station for long. I have made above 10k today(including tips) doing taxify bolt only, its not easy I must confess, but we bless God, the waiting time is sometin else. One tin I've learn again, if you are use to the era of netting 20k daily before 3pm before, dis new system will look like there is a need for a new outlet. Las las we go deh alright |

dru23: My dear brother, ever since I got rid of my old manager and started managing the cars myself it has been good o .. I even have a female driver ,that nobody wanted to take a chance with.. Now do I challenges at times? Of coz just like any other business, but overall am doing much better than before bro. The point here is good drivers and good cars and good owners.. If you can mash those things up and a little bit of hard work.. The sky is the limit.. And keep in mind when everybody was jumping ships, complaining ,uber this and that joining the fence, uber is not designed for rental etc.. Am still here bro still doing it .. Correct me if am wrong .uber has been in nigeria for 4 years now? But me have been in the business for about three years now .. On business at times, you need to change your strategy and adapt to the business currant environment.. So many changes with uber up and down.. I change too ,I took better car of my cars, look for good mechanic and drivers.. I had to start from the bottom all over again.. When I say from the bottom, I sold all my uber cars that were under bad manager.. Bad oil completely destroy all my fleet.. I basically started with tokunbo cars all over. Lost millions of naira etc.. But look at me am still here .. Like 2chain said, " if you start from the bottom, you can see the top " it is not easy ,coz if it was easy everybody will be doing it . This is not a race for me ,but a Marathon.. TMC ... The Marathon Continues ......... Best of all boss... My point have always been, things cant b rosy always, they will always be high & low period. But some one coming to paint a straight 5 months without a day break, is a no no for me |
