This woman, Oprah Winfrey, after meeting and surpassing the liberal white man's expectation of "success".

After helping them (beyond all sensible reasoning) to spew gibberish about God and Jesus Christ and Christianity.

Having satisfied all conditions precedent to the most depraved and degenerate opinion's crown princess; homosexuality, Nigerians being fraudulent et al.

She must have felt that she's a goddess of sort known worldwide as the rich amazon of the "progressives" for whom white men and women will fall prostrate as soon as she's sighted.

In her delusion, she forgot that she's a black woman or thought that her liberalism will somehow whiten her skin.

And they said she's intelligent?

Wake up sister, you have been used.

Your demystification is just around the corner.

Just like your brother in the white of house, they don't need your services any longer.

It is just the beginning.

You will be milked and left frustrated, broke and broken.

But the good news is, you will still account for all the nonsense you helped propagate.

Rossikk: Sorry, but the writer lost all right to respect by equating African attire with savagery and western attire with civilization. Such a person does not deserve the least bit of respect in any gathering of Africans. He is a disgrace to humanity. I have absolutely no problem putting him in his place. You say he is ''entitled to his opinion'' by equating MY African tradition with savagery. Well, I'm likewise entitled to my opinion by equating him with a pig and an orangutan.

I'm tired of Africans being told to ''remain calm'' when they're racially insulted and demeaned. I mean this guy is basically saying in so many words, that Africans - blacks - are inferior to whites and should be happy to copy them. Why the hell am I supposed to be ''calm and respectful'' to someone like that? There's no reason at all to show any respect to him. He is an ignorant racist who hates his own heritage, and requires shock therapy to get his brain working, if he has one.
Inferiority complex things.
To those who disagree, it must be remembered that China went through an extremely violent "cultural revolution" where millions died and everyone else was made to modernize by force.

It laid the groundwork for their miraculous 30 year transformation from one of the poorest and most backward civilizations, to one of the richest and most advanced.

We don't need a violent revolution in Naija, but we DO need to embrace change. At international meetings, GEJ is the only head of state wearing traditional dress, except for some tiny island nations. Everyone else is wearing a suit.

To mobile users who cannot see the photo below, Jonathan is surrounded by Presidents and Heads of State from over 30 nations (including South Africa, China, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, India, Egypt, Pakistan, and others). He is the only one wearing traditional dress, other than the Prime Minister of India who is wearing a head covering for religious reasons.

If Rossik has ever worn a suit, he would know that the material a suit is made of determines how much warmth it keeps in. A linen suit is perfect for hot climates, as are other materials. Do you think people in colder climes stop wearing suits in the summer?
You should be proud of him.

Others before him, i.e Tafawa Balewa, Shehu Shagari and Olusegun Obasanjo, did not disappoint.

He held his head high there my friend.

Perhaps you didn't notice the Arab guy at the back too.

It's even very worrisome that you adduce religious reasons for excusing the Indian PM.

anonimi: It would appear that the ACN governors and other party stalwarts do not realise that EDUCATION is the foundation for any society to develop upon.
Something that Chief Obafemi Awolowo clearly realised and worked on during his six years (1954-1960) as Premier of the Western region. He had free and COMPULSORY education for ALL children in primary school. He did this with cocoa money without the Niger Delta oil revenue from monthly federal allocation!

The UPN governors took it a step further by extending the free education PLUS textbooks to secondary level and established state universities such as LASU, Ambrose Ali university, Olabisi Onabanjo university. They did all this when crude oil was at about $30 compared to around $100 these days!
However our new-age pseudo-progressive have decided to REVERSE this education progress and focus on physical infrasturcture.

They are forgetting the yoruba saying that:

How many Nigerian are going to Ghana to look at their infrastructures compared to those going to learn in their schools where they have well paid and highly motivated lecturers huh
Your comment is good.

But we need infrastructure as much too.

Basic infrastructure like these are what make educated people to stay back and develop their towns/states/country.

With a conducive environment, human intellect comes out functioning optimally.

Let's commend the ones they are doing and challenge them to look into other areas such as education that you rightly mentioned.

Well, since the unfortunate genocidal incident in Rwanda in 2004, that argument has lost it's weight.

No responsible government will allow any person to incite the public to violence.

We are still dealing with the gruesome murder of immunization givers in Kano, whose killers were allegedly responding to some irresponsible broadcasters' incitement on radio.

sincerenigerian: Jonthan is not politically savvy. The same thing that happened during the NGF election is taking place here. What is going on is tha; the Northern Governors have told Jonathan that they have problem with Tukur. They've asked he be removed. Tukur is playing out Jonthan's script by fighting Jonathan's perceived enemies but Jonthan is about to throw him under the bus.

The Northern Governors want their own man to lead the party and eventually use the newly appointed Chairman to their advantage in 2015. Jonthan is trying to dance to the Northern Governors' tune and it will back fire on him next year. If you read the interviews of Kwakwanso , Wamako and Lamido in the last one week, their requests have been for Jonathan to kick out Tukur and reconcille with Amaechi. The whole strategy is to guage how resolute or strong Jonathan is. Once Jonathan bows to their demands; they will be smelling blood in the water. The Northern Governors are playing well planned script. It takes a smart mind to decode what is going on.

At the end, Jonathan will be "janglized" the same way they did with Akpabio and Jang.
Relax man!

It's called political horse-trading.
In IMO State Mbaise, marriage is taken to be a union between a man and a woman as the case may be. But there are circumstances where a marriage between a woman and a woman is permissible. In a situation where a woman has no son or no child, if the husband dies, it is culturally allowed for her to marry a wife. And in this case, she becomes the husband. Like in every case of marriage, this woman goes out, inquires and gets a wife of her choice. She pays her dowry and fulfills other traditional rites as it is done when a man is marrying a woman.

“Like in every case of marriage, this woman goes out, inquires and gets a wife of her choice.”
After that, the woman brings her "wife" home and they start living together as "husband" and "wife." Nobody frowns at it. To have children, both the "woman-husband" and "woman-wife" will agree to allow a man from the same village or neighboring town to sleep with the wife.

The children born by the wife bear the family name of the woman-husband, not that of the man responsible for the pregnancy. I want to add here that the men who sleep with such wives in most cases are married men. And normally it is regarded as immoral, in fact it is a taboo for a married man to sleep with or "father" children from another woman. But in this case an act normally taken to be immoral is allowed.

This is a situation where people are permitted to break taboos and deviate from traditions. This marriage practice pre-dates Christianity and the so- called western culture which most people today blame for all the moral and cultural wrongs in Africa. The same gender marriage is still practiced till date. In other words, there are some families today in Igboland where women are both husbands and wives, fathers and mothers.

There are some homes where woman-husbands are living happily with their woman-wives, though there are not many such families or marriages. Such unconventional marriages and families are in the minority. The fact is that they exist. The fact is that they are part of the local tradition and culture. They are not imports from the West. And this has in no way undermined social cohesion, public order and morality or family values.

“There are some families today in Igboland where women are both husbands and wives, fathers and mothers.”
Some people have tried to argue that this is not really a case of gender marriage because a man comes in to impregnate the wife. But, traditionally, it is the case and it is known as such. It is a case where a woman marries a woman.
The man who impregnates the wife does not come into the picture at all. He has no family responsibility. His duty is only to supply sperm. The family is responsible for the woman-husband and wife.

Some say that same gender unions destroy family values and undermine the upbringing of children. It should be emphasized that children in this case are brought up in an environment where both "parents" are females. And they grow up to be normal children. Some say because child bearing is involved, then it is not same gender marriage. But my response is this: whether for procreation or for pleasure, it is same gender marriage. And it is the couples, not the state that decides whether to marry for procreation and or for pleasure or for any other purpose they deem fit.

Unfortunately, most Nigerians think that same gender marriage is antithetical to procreation. It is not. In fact same gender unions as in this case enrich family values. There have been instances where a partner in a same gender relationship wants children, and goes ahead to have them.

Because of the secrecy, privacy and hypocrisy that go with sexual expression, no one can really say if these female partners have or do not have sex with each other. But like all couples they live together and run their families. But today, things are changing.

“Same gender unions as in this case enrich family values.”
Individuals are becoming more open, more assertive and expressive with their sexual and marriage choices, desires, orientations and identities. The sexual and marriage dynamics are changing rapidly. And Africans must make the necessary social, cultural and legal adjustments in response to - and to accommodate - these changes.
What you described above is just one of the many variants of SLAVERY practiced in Africa.

It usually involves a RICH WOMAN buying a GIRL to be used as a SLAVE at home.

African rich men and women traded in slaves for centuries before the Europeans joined and it didn't "undermine social cohesion, public order and morality or family values."?

They used the slaves for various things; farming, stealing, robbery, extortion, as "wives" or "husbands" (to use your words) etc.

There are many forms of SLAVERY in Africa my friend.

It may interest you to know that some human beings were actually bred for slaughter.

That is, male/female human beings born/purchased and castrated (sometimes), nurtured and groomed for their role as "follower" of traditional rulers/rich people to the grave.

In other words, they are slaughtered and buried along with the 'big man'.

There is the Osu Caste system too.

Slavery in any form is evil.

We are objective and open minded! Let's pander to the views of religious people and accept albeit for a moment that it is a sin to be homosexual even though we know it is not, If i recall properly, Jesus himself loved sinners from David to prostitutes, so why then do so called religious people today judge, hate and persecute people who happen to be different to them, this is ofcourse gross hypocrisy and bigotry which religious people seem to be expects on. Look at Boko Haram, packs of condoms were discovered from their camps, they rape young women and enjoy the trappings of civilization in secret yet they tell us they hate all of it. Christians say love one another, yet they are the first to hate, the first to condemn other human beings to 'burn in fire' forever. How dare you bigots judge others, why are you all so bothered by where and what position a man or woman decides to have sex in and whom with?. It's time we all that being objective and rational. Homosexuals have been around for the longest and existed in every society, repressing it with hate will only drive it underground and produce grave outcomes. The religion(s) which you alll quote are all alien religions, so if anything is 'un-African' then it your christian and Muslim religions. I do not care what another man does in his bedroom and whom with as long as he doesn't harm children and the vulnerable.
