Armed bandits stormed Ugya village, a community in Toto local government area of Nasarawa State - and wrecked havoc in the area. Over 20 people were reportedly killed and many other others injured in a communal clash that erupted on Tuesday between the Ebira and Bassa ethnic groups. It was alleged that the bandits came in with over 30 motorcycles with 3 persons each to the area as they attacked the community. The hoodlums reportedly surrendered to military men who were on operation free Ugya from terrorism - after a fire fight. Some of these motorcycles have been seized by the joint military forces operating in the area. The community is now under the control of the Nigeria military, according to reports.. The violence that is gradually taking over the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL, has called for serious concerns. According to reports, in the match-day 18 between Heartland of Owerri and defending Champions, Plateau United, Heartland football fans assaulted the referee to the point of coma and was admitted into hospital. The match ended in a 1-1 draw as Tosin Omoyele scored the equalizer after Thompson put the home side ahead in the 21st minute. A young man identified as Musty Sokoto - was gruesomely murdered by unknown gunmen who stormed his house at Agege, Lagos.The gunmen stormed his house after inviting some friends for a get together and shot him at point blank range - leaving him in the pool of his blood. The reason for attack could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report. The popular saying 'everyday for the thief, one day is for the owner of the house' - was witnessed today after a serial burglar was nabbed while trying to break into the home of a London based Nigerian CEO, Chief Richmond MacGrey, in Sapele area of Delta state. According to Chief Richmond, few weeks ago at between 11am and 2pm, thieves broke into his house in Sapele and carted away his most expensive genuine coral beads, television set, surround sound system. The businessman revealed that he bought those beads for over a million naira about 21 years ago. But today at midday, four ''lazy youths'' stormed his premises again fully equipped with iron and metal cutter to steal. Three were on the lookout while one was busy cutting burglary proof and padlock keys thinking my premises was empty. When they were sighted by some boys around, the three on lookout ran but the one cutting my keys and burglary proof wasn't that lucky. He was caught red handed and given a beating of his life before handing him over to local vigilantes for questioning before taking him to Sapele Police station. Congratulations are in order for a 16-year-old Nigerian girl who is making the country proud in America. The first year student of Augsburg University, Oluwatofunmi Oteju, was awarded the Emerging Leader of the Year award for 2018 by the University held on the 8th of April, 2018. The award designed to recognize students who participated in the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) during 2017 fall semester, was used by the University to celebrate students who demonstrated active involvement in student activities, student governance, and student life at Augsburg during the academic year. In recommending Oluwatofunmi for the award, her international student advisors, James Tresland Porter and Angela Bonfigilio wrote that she exhibited calm presence and showed strong leadership within her short stay on campus. “In her short time here, despite her age, she has shown extreme maturity and leadership on campus, “ her Advisor wrote in her recommendation form. The recommendation stated further that Tofunmi was awarded for her selfless contributions in the area of guiding International Students in settling into the University environment. The University stated that Tofunmi impressed it with her confidence in navigating Augsburg and the opportunities around her with humility. The CofC National Youth Council of Nigeria, Amb Sukubo Saraigbe Sukubo, Chairman of Petroleum Rivers state, Hon Kenneth Dan Opusingi and others were attacked by sea pirates on their way back to Kula community just after the just concluded Peoples Democratic Party PDP local government chairmanship primaries in Abonnema, Rivers state. They were attacked by the gunmen along the Kula Water ways and in the process, two were reportedly killed, two persons were also abducted and 4 others seriously injured with bullets. AMB. The Bayelsa State Volunteers Services led by its secretary, Jacob Kurobo in it's bid to rid the State of crime has paraded a suspected arm robber to the Nigeria Police in Yenagoa. Mr. Jacob Kurobo, popularly known as Don.J said the criminal was apprehended and handed to the police is in line with Governor Seriake Dickson's yearning for zero tolerance for crime and criminality in the State. The Secretary averred that he has discovered that the issue of cultism and armed robbery was going viral in the state, therefore both are serious offence before the law, but ceased the opportunity to warn that Bayelsa state was not created for cultism and that the volunteers are prepared to flush out the menace in the state.” He, however, noted that the Bayelsa Volunteers is irrevocably committed to work with the police and the various security agencies to rid the state of crime and criminality in order to promote peace. Another suspected member of the notorious scammers’ Syndicate that one Wasiu from Ore, Ondo state - an HIV victim, said collected about N4M from him on the pretext to give him the cure for the disease - has been nabbed. The scam syndicate allegedly hid the assorted cars bought within the period of this scam in the compound of the arrested suspect identified as Owoseni Taye.. One of his rooms had a mini shrine, according to a report posted by Mercy Dabs communications. The victim had earlier explained how he fell into their hands. He said he received a mobile phone line recharge pin from an unfamiliar phone number with a short note that reads “sell this recharge card for your transport fare home…” The event next to this was a call from the same line, telling him the SMS was sent to him in error and begging him to send it back to them. Consequent upon the return of the SMS, he received another call from the line appreciating him for the good gesture. At the peak of their conversation, the old man on phone did as though he saw vision concerning me. “He told me I am living with a deadly disease, but I said know. But when he convinced me the more, I affirmed his word.” Wasiu, whom a few other members of his family have also contracted the disease, deeply fell into them before discovering himself. But, a 69-year-Old member of the syndicate, Adedayo Akinjisola from Ondo, has confessed recently that the matter of the victim was brought to them by somebody very close to him (the victim). When Omo Edema launched investigation into the matter, Taye Owoseni (Taye Falekulo, Taye Yahoo) was the person the group first sent, fronted by a popular radio presenter in Ondo. They claimed innocent to the real evil taking place at the shrine in the bush at Abusoro after Okenla . The family of a young student who has been missing for the past two days - just discovered that the girl was picked up by a guy after school. The girl who is a student of Okpe grammar school in Sapele area of Delta state - was reported not to have returned home some days ago as her family went to the school to find out the reason. They were informed that the guy named Abraham whose brother lives in Ghana, came after school to pick up the girl in a Toyota Camry and since them, the two of them have not been seen. The family are worried that something bad might have happened to their daughter as search for her continues. Anyone with any information about her whereabouts should notify the authorities.. An owl which ''mysteriously'' entered into a church building (Divine Anointed Eagles Ministry) located at Ugberikoko Road, Sapele, Delta State - was killed by aggrieved church members. It was gathered from Pastor Mrs Cassandra Itama that the church building was under lock and key with the glasses, doors and windows very sealed as the church members were shocked as to how the ''strange'' bird flew into the church. Nigerian youths have been taking swipes at President Muhammdu Buhari, over his statement that the youths are lazy. This one got me. A graduate of International Animal Health at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland who is into animal husbandry has joined others to throw shades at the country's number one citizen. The Abuja based veterinary doctor shared pictures of him carrying out his duty as he wrote; Dear President Buhari. You can call me lazy but be reminded: e nor easy to chook hand for cow Yansh!! President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday criticised the attitude of some Nigerian youths, saying they were “only hustling to get on the gravy train.” “More than 60 per cent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free,” Mr Buhari was quoted as saying by The Cable during a panel appearance with world leaders at the Commonwealth Business Forum in London. The president’s comment adds to an earlier one he made criticising Nigerian youths. During a February 2016 interview with UK Telegraph, Mr Buhari said some Nigerians in the UK, mostly youth, are disposed to criminality and should not be granted asylum there. He was fiercely criticised for the comment, with many saying it failed to convey the reality of Nigerian youth’s exploits. According to reports, a young man, Ube by name who allegedly belonged to the Viking's confraternity was hacked to death by members a the rival cult group right inside his car, along Cross and Stop bus-stop Udu Road, Delta State yesterday. According to eyewitness account; there was a clash between the Aye and Vikings confraternity, unfortunately Ube's was killed. His elder brother id said to be a member of the Aye cult group. A man who tried to separate a fight between his two wives today in Adamawa state never thought he would meet his end in such manner. The man identified as Adamu Dewa from Dirdeu village, Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa state was stabbed to death this morning by his first wife while trying to separate a fight between her and his second wife. According to Abdulrahman Njidda Yebbi, his first wife, Hauwa who is popularly known as "Chamba", was married to the victim over 20 years ago and they have not less than 5 children together. She's reported to have threatened her husband with death on several occasions, accusing him of favouritism and unequal treatment between her and the 2nd wife. The corpse of the deceased has been deposited at the Ganye General Hospital. May his soul rest in peace. Mr. Ebi Okoyen, popularly known as Okinikini who is the principal security officer to Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson - today presented a new car as a gift to his wife for taking all the burdens of marriage and child birth. The government aide presented the car to his wife in the presence of family and friends as his wife reciprocated the loving gesture with a deep kiss. Lagos State Police have arrested over 80 miscreants, recovered a toy gun, 6 butchers’ knives, 21 kitchen knives, 9 hammers, substances suspected to be cannabis and other dangerous weapons from Olusosun Dumpsite squatters. The police team, comprising of officers drawn from Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Lagos State Taskforce, Counter Terrorism Unit, Alausa Police Station and other police formations, stormed the dumpsite early today to eject the squatters who had already built shades, where they dwell. The miscreants in a bid to resist police arrest, set fire on the dump to discard the operatives from carrying out the clearing of the site as directed by the State Government but couldn’t do much before they were arrested. Recovered from the shades built by the squatters were a toy gun, 23 pieces of fake US dollars, 3 cutlasses, 21 kitchen knives, 6 butchers’ knives, 9 hammers, 5 reflective jackets, substances suspected to be cannabis, charms among others. It could be recalled that weeks ago, there was a rapid fire outbreak at the dump site which lasted for days and causing a lot of health hazards to Lagosians living within the vicinity. Investigations during the period revealed that the fire was caused by the miscreants occupying the dumpsite illegally and as a result, the State Government ordered a close down of the dumpsite to forestall any further environmental disaster. A couple were killed after an unfortunate tragedy literally befell them while they were fast asleep. According to reports, a perimeter wall collapsed last night and crushed the husband and wife to death while asleep. The sad incident was reported to have happened after a heavy downpour after in Namulanda Wakiso area of Uganda. Their neighbors and other residents were in tears as they helped in the removing the couple's corpse from the collapsed building. May their souls rest in peace.
