At least Largerback named a 44-man list from which he will pick his final world-cup bound team, after training camp. Amodu, on the other hand, would have named his world cup team without, or before, training camp, or without any justification, which is a foolish and senseless move. |
Abeg, does anyone have a link to watch the highlights of the game? |
I wish her a happy married life, as long as she is marrying for the right reasons, such as she truly loves him and he makes her happy. However, if she married the Oyinbo because she thinks "Naija men are this and that while Oyinbo men are not this and that," her marriage may be short lived like the marriages of many Naija girls in the States who marry Akata or Oyinbo men, whereupon they find out that the grass is not always greener on the other side, that the sacrifice of missing out on interacting with their husbands in their native tongues and cultural norms is not worth marrying these foreign men, and that these foreign men are worse off than Naija men. That's my 411 |
That one of Fuji's highly rated star is making a hip hop album signals the beginning of the demise of our traditional and cultural music, for upcoming stars who are legitimately talented in traditional music like Fuji will try their hand in hip hop rather than pursuing the traditional route in which they are talented. It is a sad day in Fuji and Juju music's history, as well as other traditional genres of music. I understand that he may desire to collaborate with several hip hop stars, but he could have assigned, say, one track for that collaboration; rather, he is making a hip hop album exclusively, which, in my own opinion, does not bode well for the future of Fuji music. |
Poster, I sympathize with you for being Mr. nice guy to a fault. All I have to say is that never seek advice on how to date girls from all these girls on Nairaland, for they will tell you to be a wuss till you find someone who will love you for you. While you may find someone who will love you for you, the person who will love you will probably be an ugly, unattractive girl who has been rejected by many, all because you are not being a man who takes charge and gives directions and says no when necessary. If you want to approach and attract quality, stop being nice, especially to girls who sleep in your bed without giving up the goodies. Just like that girl sleeps in your bed without giving up the goodies, if any other girl sleeps in your bed and refuses to surrender the goodies after several failed attempts at entering the goodies, kick her out from your house at night and tell her never to come back. Trust me, she will be so attracted you thereafter that she will voluntarily come back and offer the goodies to you, for she will be shocked that you had the "balls" to kick her out of the house, a situation she may not have undergone in her life. If you like, you take advise from all these chicks, for they will lead you astray. Girls, many of whom are patently notorious for claiming that they espouse a particular behavior while they show a negative response to the behavior they claim to espouse, can never advise you accurately on how to pursue girls since girls are generally preys, not the predators, and, as a result, lack the inherently assertive masculine mentality that qualifies a person to recommend a course of action that will effectively decode the nebulous behavior of women, and which will result in attracting the women you desire. |
My comments apparently ticked off some people, and I do understand why, for a child is involved in the situation. With the analogy to a thief, a thief who steals from another knowingly and intentionally endangers the life of another, which is an intolerable act. The lady here, on the other hand, may not even know that she was endangering the life of her expectant child, and may therefore lack the requisite intent to be the malicious person to which she has been referred. Considering her level of intelligence and education, the drug lords who employed her may have misinformed her as to the dangers of swallowing cocaine on her child. Also, she may have been homeless, dead-broke, and was in a wavering frame of mind, making her highly vulnerable to the deceptions of drug lords, many of whom prey on susceptible victims and often threaten deadly force on the prospective drug courier and her family if the would-be drug courier refuses to transport the drugs for them. It is a dirty business, and as such, there are two sides to every story. |
mallorca:appreciate it bro |
mallorca:cuz, i don't get your parable. |
For all of you who are ranting about how wicked and nefarious this woman is to her baby, you guys are not in the position to know the situation through which this woman is going, and it is reasonable to say that the situation through which she was going obviously led to her desperate attempt at swallowing the cocaine. It may be said, perhaps, that she swallowed it out of her affection towards her expectant baby, for it is plausible that she swallowed the cocaine in an attempt to make money that would be used to take care for her expectant child. I know it may sound hollow, but the circumstances which can prompt a pregnant woman to risk her unborn child's life--swallowing cocaine--might be dire circumstances which many of us on this thread may not understand, especially some of us who are typing under the comforts of our home and amid the abundance of food. We all know that financial constraints, hunger, stress, and possibly duress may have led this otherwise innocent woman to engage in this supposedly nefarious act towards an unborn child. "Judge that ye shall not be judged." FYI: I am in no way sanctioning this behavior, but there are always two sides to every story, and there are circumstances that which many of us all will not understand, especially when we have not even talked to the woman to get a feel for her state of mind and condition. |
Guys can't win. If the guy does not call some girl any "pet name," there will be a thread saying Naija guys are not romantic. When the guy calls you a pet name, girls are detested. After reading the thread, y'all women are detested by every conceivable pet name. So what should a guy call you if he is trying to utter a pleasantry and be romantic? Na waaa! The bottom line is that you should appreciate it when a guy uses a pleasantry on you, especially if he is a guy you like. Stop all this hate and bitching when a man utters a pleasantry. That is why some dudes will rather be rude to women, because it appears as though being nice don't pay to these Nigerian chicks. They are so unromantic, and they will be the one bhitching about how Naija dudes are not romantic. American and European girls appreciate when men use pleasantries on them. |
HajiraB:you dont get it |
Some Nigerians, i guess, just want to leave the country so they can have the honor of saying I am going overseas or going abroad, even if they travel to Somalia. Guys and girls, I love Nigeria with all my heart, but if I ever, ever read in the news that Haiti deports Nigerians, on that same day I will renounce my Nigerian citizenship, for the embarrassment would be unbearable. |

Was he a U.K. citizen who was stripped of his citizenship after he committed the purported crimes? It seems that you will have to be a U.K. citizen in order to represent the U.K. in the games. Something is not adding up for me. |
Amodu took us to the World Cup and reached the Semis of the ACN by luck. His luck simply ran out. But the NFF should still pay him any money to which he is entitled under the contract. |
Zabutt, You should definitely go for it. There is always a first time for everything, and don't let our reputation for fraud deter you. There are many willing decision makers of business who are looking for an opportunity to break into the Nigerian market or do business with Nigerians, as long as they know and trust the Nigerian with whom they will be interacting and doing business. As such, many foreign business men and women are not silly and do know that people who usually fall victim to Nigerian fraudsters are people who send money to Nigerians they met online or some bull, or to someone who promised them a one million fold return on their investment. As long as you are talking business on reasonable and realistic terms, you should have no problem overcoming any possible presumption of being fraudulent and gaining their trust and establishing an amicable business relationship. There are thousands, if not millions, of foreign companies who do business with Nigerians in Nigeria. As long as they know you, it won't be a problem. Some people in Yankee and UK will work minimum wage jobs and say we have a bad reputation and blah blah blah while smart Nigerians are in Nigeria transacting with foreign businesses and making serious money. |
It is paradoxical that India has more leverage than Nigeria in getting call center business from English-speaking Western countries such as the U.S. and U.K. despite the fact that many of the operators who work in these Indian call centers barely speak fluent English, while there are more English proficient people in Nigeria than in India. The lack of stable electricity and reliable broadband can be major factors that are attributable to this disadvantage. Anyway, setting up a call center in Nigeria is not impossible, but there are too many barriers to overcome to set up an efficient and profitable call center in Nigeria (considering that your operational costs in Nigeria, i.e., money for diesel, bribing govt. officials, generator, broadband, etc, will be significantly higher than that of your competitors, many of which are in India). |
It is elementary that nice guys, more often than not, finish last. You are playing Mr. nice guy, which will make her leave you soon, and then you will come back five months later crying to us about how women don't appreciate men who are nice and don't want to rush into bed with them. That being said, if you don't deflower her with immediate effect, she will find another man to do it, and there is a possibility that if that man has a big thang and does it well, your girl will leave you for him. A word is enough for the wise, my brother. |
Hermosa, are you the prized owner of the property or asset displayed in that picture? I'm just saying. |
I believe Femi Kuti was nominated for a Grammy--the World Music nominee--but he did not win. That being said, I believe Femi Kuti is another Nigerian Artist who has a good prospect of winning a grammy. |
SA girls, on the average, have big, round bakassis and hips. Y'all already know about the average Naija girl--she is usually devoid of the necessities. |
eldee:tell 'em, bro |
Stevogue:You sound like an idiot. It is people like you who fail exams because they think already know the answer before they finish reading the question. You just said you did not finish reading my piece but made a comment. I never said buying a drink for a girl is always wrong. What I mean is that the intent of buying the drink is the key. If you are buying the drink to keep her around you or to get into her pants (which a lot of men do), then you are a sucker. If you are doing it because she is a nice person or to enhance the encounter, then there is nothing wrong with it. You must be one of those guys who feels he has to offer a girl a drink before you even ask her name so that she will talk to you. |
daduke2k:Nobody chop my money. I no be mugu like you |
mama-gee:LMAO. I guess so |
I have noticed a lot of Naija men in clubs are so quick to offer to buy drinks to a girl they just met, sometimes even before they start conversation with a girl. Do men still do these? The sad part is that these men think that offering to buy the girl a drink will ease the access to her pants, or that it will give them a better chance at taking her home or getting her phone number. These men are delusional. If you feel that you have to offer a drink to girl to get her number, or if you feel that offering her the drink will give her an incentive to talk to you, then you are sucker--in that you feel that you are not worthy enough of her attention. For the ladies, if you will not talk to a guy because he refuses to buy you a drink, it shows that your time is for sale for a paltry drink; and if you will not give attention to a guy who does not buy you a drink, it shows that you are a cheap whhore, and that all it takes to get you is a drink. Mind you, I am not saying that buying women drinks is categorically wrong, but what I am saying is that buying a drink should be a gesture aimed at enhancing a blissful encounter, where both parties are enjoying a reciprocated favorable attitude. Buying a drink should not be aimed at appeasing a girl or to convince or force her to talk to you. Save your money, idiots. |
I guess it won't be Nairaland if there was no form of disagreement. Na waa ooo. In what is meant to be an emotional post to invite people to post encouraging words, some people are already fighting. To the poster, may God in his divine and Supreme power heal and give you joy and happiness. Your diagnosis is not a death sentence. |
My list 1) Beauty--plus yansh and hips 2)Intelligence 3)Sexiness/Fashion/Girliness 4) Career Potential 5)Virginity/Low Mileage 6)Traditional/Homely--Must know how to cook Jollof Rice, Isi Ewu, Egusi soup, and the like |
biina:OK, my bad, the rate at which NNPC will become dysfunctional is directly proportional to the percentage of new Northerners who are in top management, so expect that the NNPC will be operating at 86% below normal operating capacity. Does someone have a link to the qualification of the new appointees to top management positions, so we can check whether they are qualified for the position to which they are appointed? |
That explains why the NNPC is currently in a dysfunctional state. Call me a tribalist or not, most Northerners do not value education and are less likely to possess the requisite qualification to lead the NNPC. If you are a Northerner, the only required qualification for being appointed to a position is that you are an Alhaji. The degree of dysfunction is directly proportional to the percentage of top management who are Northerners, so NNPC is 86% dysfunctional. |
It is well settled that the success of Nigerian artists is attributed to their use of pidgin and African beats in their songs, with the exception of a few Nigerian artists who are Jamaican and American wannabes. The style of their videos, however, are contemporary and trendy, which, undoubtedly to certain degree, mimics American videos. But that is a worldwide trend which is not limited to Nigerian artists. To the poster: so singing in pidgin English and frequently Yoruba (or sometimes Ibo and the like) against a Nigerian beat is not enough to be Nigerian. Do you want the videos to show artists who are wearing dashiki or traditional attire while some fat Iya Apati woman in the village wearing wrapper and placing a bucket of water on her head shakes her voluptuous yansh to prove to you that they are not copying American or Jamaican artists? |
