As funny as what I'm about to say sounds, this is what I did, in 2021, this same notice was placed on my building, I'd just finished plastering, they even painted my building with the red paint...... STOP WORK.

I was worried, cos I'd just finished the last money i budgeted for the plastering, and nothing in bank talk less of cash, i didn't touch the paper they pasted on my wall.

Because of no cash, i didn't go to site for like 8 months, a year later i moved in, and nobody has come to knock on my door for anything.

But it's in my plan to do something in the future.

6 drums for the wall, 3 drums for the ceiling.
Premium emulsion is N16000 and cleanable matte is N30000.
Spraying is ideal where furniture and fittings aren't in place already. There is precaution against overspray on unintended surface but there could still be some.
Although spray application after machine sandpaper still gives the smoothest application.
I've supplied an esteemed member here that used purple and gold as taping design on the pop. It's all about preference.

Good day all, i have a Captain thermocool gen with 2.0kva rating, recently on the digital display, when i start it and put it on, it shows the voltage as 169-179volts, then after running for like 10 mins, it normalizes to 223-230 volts on the display, and other times, it shows 223-230 volts instantly , but the lower voltage reoccurs more than the normal voltage.

please what could be wrong? it still runs fine by the ay and i use to pump water twice a week.

If you have fuse and base you are covered. There is no need of having gear switch anymore . And again it 3-bedroom flat

In an electric power system, switchgear is composed of electrical disconnect switches, fuses or circuit breakers used to control, protect and isolate electrical equipment. Switchgear is used both to de-energize equipment to allow work to be done and to clear faults downstream (copied)

Your electrician is right but the choice is yours to choose between gear switch/isolator or Cutout fuses ... If your building is 3 bedroom flat you can go with cutout fuse.

Gear switch is good and concealed all exposed cable you will see using a cutout fuse.

Changeover switch is for switching between your generator and the grid. Changeover can't serve the purpose of gear switch .

So you need both changeover switch and gear switch / cutout

Good evening, please my electrician says we should get change over and gear switch for the final stage , but i said I only know of change over, that i don't think the gear switch is necessary, but he is insisting that it's important.

Please i need a second opinion and any supporting reason to get or not get it.

An update on my last post here, concerning the wiring of my 3 bedroom, after seeking help from twinskenny and Topsy23 concerning the quantity of wires to be used, i added one each to their proposed quantity to be on the safe side.

Day one
He called that he'll be there before 8a.m, i said very good, he did get there before 8, called me and 30mins later i was there with him, work started and they worked till almost 5pm, he now said he asked me to buy 6 bundles of red 1.5mm, but i bought 5, that now it's not enough, that we will need 2 more, i said i have no cash for that, he then suggested that the 10mm is still remaining so he'll take it back to the seller and use it to get the two red 1.5mm, i was happy, even praising him......

Day two
The previous day, he told me he'll come early again the next day, so i had to give the key to my neighbour, so that he can gain entry when he comes, surprisingly he called around 7 am, that he's on site, like the previous day, i quickly rushed down there again, he brought the two bundles of 1.5mm that he said is needed to complete the job, work commenced, around 3pm, he said the 2.5mm is more than enough that he'll take one bundle of red and black back to the seller and get like half of them back to save money, so that it won't go to waste if he decided to open the new bundles, once again i was excited, i said good choice, go ahead, he quickly put the two bundles in a sack or so i presumed, but while he was working, i decided to check the sack, and saw 3 bundles of wire instead, i challenged him, he said he mentioned 3 not 2 to me, i didn't want to drag it further, so long as we both know it's 3 that's in the sack, no p.....then he says he's stopping the work so that he can come early to finish it as he has other jobs the next day.

Day 3
I told myself something is fishy with this come early style of this electrician, so i decided I'll beat him to his own game, i got to the site 6.20a.m, lo and behold, he came exactly 6.30am, it was so dark, you could hardly see self, so i told him how do you intend to work with the day this dark, he said he needed to quickly finish my job as he is to start another one that same day. I asked him, where's the half bundle of the different wires your said you'll bring, he brought out wires that were hardly up to 20 yards, i laughed and said but you promised 50metres of the wires each, he wanted to start using them, i said no, use the ones remaining.

That was when he started to pull the wires longer than usual, in other to justify him using the one he brought, not to bore you guys with long epistle,

He opened the two bundles of 1.5mm red that he brought simultaneously, which he barely used (claims he'll still use it for looping when we are doing the fittings ....i have like one and a half bundle left) i was able to save wires worth ₦50,500 in cash and still have left over wires that could fetch me ₦30,000 if i decided to sell it,

All these artisans i fear them, it was very obvious in his reactions afterwards that i caught on to his thieving scheme , i remember saying here that except he eats the wires, I'll be there from start to finish, before he devised the early coming tactics when he saw no way for him to steal my wires.

Earlier this year i did, and i was stopped by FRSC, they claimed i painted it, by so doing I've committed forgery blah blah......

Long story short i contested it, but they seized my license and to make masters worse it was a weekend and my family was in the car, i said give me the form lemme go and pay, he said come to the office on Monday, one of them even threatened to make me come everyday for a week for lecture before they'll give me the form to pay talk less of returning my license.

My wife came out of the car and pleaded with them to consider her and the kids, before one of them looked at the license and saw my age, discovered I'm way older than all of them, and said yet i allowed them to talk to me anyhow, that there's a cyber cafe around the corner, i should go there to pay for the plate number violation.

Hmmm, that's the first time in over 8 years of driving in Lagos that I'll be booked by FRSC and made to pay, nobody told me, i got another plate number for ₦15,000, even the new one looks like it's gonna fade anytime soon. (I only use water to clean it now)

When people give you advice, know that whatever you do, you alone will be the recipient of your actions, nobody will be there to help you, be wise, if your number is faded, go get another one....... It's wrong, but it is what it is, especially in Lagos.

Those FRSC guys, once they know you know your right but you've given them room to book you, trust me, they'll make you suffer.

Like earlier said by twinskenny the normal cable for 3-bedroom flat excluding the fence light is as follows

1.5mm
Red. 4
Black 3
Green 1(for traveller i.e 2-way switch)

2.5mm
Red 3
Black 3
1.5mm green for the earth 3.

Reason for having 1.5mm green 4-coils.

My concern for the 4mm cable. Why can't your electrician buy the require length in yard or meter for the colour code instead of using the same colour code for LIVE, NEUTRAL and EARTH.

The 10mm cable is okay
Go for original Coleman as instructed by Kenny. We have alot of fake cables in the market. Copper coated is common these days.

I'll pass it on,please what's the traveller....2 way switch thingy, i want to be really armed with enough knowledge when discussing with him, as the project is self supervised...... God willing, I'll be with him all thru the wiring........ Except he eats the wires I'll be there to see to it's usage

According to him, the AC's that will be in the rooms are gonna be 1hp and so the 2.5mm is good enough to carry it

In all fairness, he quoted 4mm for the AC's initially, but when i told him of how my pocket is, he suggested we use 4mm for the parlour AC, as it's likely to be 2hp or 1.5hp, and 2.5mm for the inner ones.

You'll notice there are two quotes, the second was supposed to be lower as he introduced another brand of wire to me which is 3 in 1, picture for reference is attached.

But the difference is not much.

Proposed appliances to be used:-

3 AC
1 water heater
One cooker.


I know our professionals have said 4mm is best for AC, but honestly inflation and scarcity of funds has put me at a cross roads, i wanted to do this wiring February this year, then the quote was far lower, but funds were not available, but i see Topsy23 coming here to say there'll be price hike in cable and like a prophet, gbam, they increase, he has come again to say come January, prices will increase, this is one of the reasons I'm doing this, as funds are still not available.

I am a very private person, in short I don’t know why I am doing this, as I have never mediated in anything nairaland banters.

But this situation touches me so much ( focusmind, adedward and hslbroker2)
I am not here to apportion blame or judge who did what and who is right or wrong, but to plead with the parties to give peace a chance.

Truly focusmind had the intention of paying 300k for the job,
Hslborker couldn’t deliver based on the agreed date,
He contracted it instead to Adedward (due to his been indisposed)

Adedward took on the job but with a higher price margin, communicated it to Hslborker, He in turn communicated it to focusmind, in between this back and forth there was a verbal agreement for the job to be done with knowledge of the client ,albeit with some (just do it , but I will do what is in my mind).

Based on the above facts from the three of them, it can be deduced that , truly from all indications Hslbroker messed up on the delivery date, but made up for it by using his personal funds to get the job done, with the knowledge of the client.
The additional money given to Adedward is for the alteration in the job (nets and broken glass) but look at it from this angle.

Hslbroker did not use the money instead to treat himself or for other things and say because he was sick he couldn’t deliver, he made efforts. In the process its obvious he has now run at a loss (420k he gave adedward that the client was aware of minus 300k the client gave him) meaning he is at a loss of 120k, bearing in mind that he didn’t make profit from this job.

I just want to plead that the number of months that has elapsed is enough punishment for him loosing the said amount , but the good thing is the job was done, client has received the job with the knowledge that it was done at a greater amount than he initially paid for.

So please Focusmind I plead with you to find a way to reimburse him for the loss (God bless you more than your expectations) and just look at what he has gone thru while he was ill. (it’s a plea)

So I picked up my redmi note 5AI yesterday from the post office, courtesy Noobody .

This is my 2nd phone thru him, first one was express shipping, decided to try the normal shipping and the wait wasn't that much.
