Nigeria is a free nation!!
One can do anything and get away freely!!!
Except be gay or (God forbid) relax with a bit of Igbo (kush) in public. Or own property if you’re the wrong gender. Etc.

We’re blessed but not yet free. Not fully.

I don't know how it happened that I'm a Nigerian, but it's a such a blessing and I'm proudly a Nigerian.

So I thank God for making me a Nigerian.

And God bless Nigeria.
Ditto. Nigeria’s blessed in a deeper sense and it’s only the spiritually seasoned who’ll understand why or see how that’s the case.

Doesn’t mean the country’s perfect though. Far from it.
Family › Re: Should A Wife Wait For Her Husband Before She Eats Or She Should Eat Alone? by Probz(m): 6:23pm On Oct 02, 2021
She should eat whenever the hell she’s hungry. Is it not her who cooks the food 99% of the time?

People should respect themselves on an autonomous basis in this day and age. Your stomach needs shouldn’t be dependent on the ‘oga’ of the house.
Christianity Etc › Re: What Do People Mean When They Say Somebody Is Too Churchy For Their Liking? by Probz(m): 9:21pm On Sep 28, 2021
People who are sharply moralistic and don’t seem to have lived in the concrete, real world.

When you’re a young person wanting to relate your experiences about sex. and drugs the last thing you want is someone who’s only capable of quoting verse-and-scripture. Nor does any Nigerian girl want to a Bleep with an overly consecrated Deeper Life boy whose idea of swag. is sandals and dungarees.

It depends what food but in general firewood is amazing. The only issue is the heating regulation (there’s not exactly an option of low-medium heat with firewood).

Firewood jollof dey sweet sha.

A man and a woman can never become equal, no matter how you intellectually sugar coat it in the funny name of feminists or feminism.

There are different social gender responsibilities, and even in our biological defined, and the man is always being reference as the lord.

The word feminism should be properly redefined to avoid it's usage abuse by this younger generation of women.

No matter you put it Man will always be a Man, he's created first before a Woman was created after several years of Man existence
Even God is not a God of confusion that made Man the head of the Family..
But without a woman life wouldn’t exist. Who you you that Adam existed before Eve? Do you not know that the Bible in its present form is highly corrupted?

Anyway you lack exposure to life outside post-colonial Africa so there’s no point spinning this out with you any further. One day you’ll travel to the west and get the shock of your life.
Food › Re: Eating Meat Last: Why Do Most Nigerians Do This? by Probz(m): 2:47am On Sep 11, 2021
I think it’s just a practice that serves as an incentive to finish the main meal. I’m sure other cultures do that as well.
Culture › Re: Why Are Oyo People Light Skinned Naturally? by Probz(m): 11:20pm On Sep 09, 2021
RedboneSmith:
It is interesting that a 19th-century explorer (I can't quite remember his name now) also wrote that the Oyo subgroup are lighter-skinned than other Yoruba groups to the south.

Which is odd, because from personal experience, I would have thought groups in present-day Ondo State are generally lighter-skinned than Oyo people.

At the end of the day, all these na anecdotes. No one has any empirical evidence to back up any of these.
Not all anecdotes are false. The OP isn’t the only one to observe that Oyo (and, in your case, Ondo) people are lighter-skinned and neither am I. Empirical evidence has never really been used to account for our complex demographical needs so until then anecdotes do have to be listened to.

From my own observations the OP isn’t wrong.

Come to a civilised country and see people of both sexes (including Nigerian women) drinking like fish as a cultural ritual. With little short-term adverse effects.

I wonder what goes on in the mind of ladies that drink.
Are they normal? I mean... What will a lady be reasoning to the point of taking alcohol and to stupor?? SMH.

Now see the end result. Lying lifeless on the floor unawares
Of her sorroundings. If they rape her now, she won't even know.

I see every woman/lady drinking alcohol as abnormal. Not feminine at all.
Drinking is a ubiquitous practice across the world. It’s only in silly, backward countries that it’s seen as abnormal in females. Step into the real world.

In certain eastern cultures it’s only women who are allowed to wear trousers as par traditional custom and in any case trousers fit the anatomy of women much more than men (no Instruments that could be obstructed). Anyone who sees trousers as women’s wear is colonialised and whitewashed.

If you grew up in the East you should know that back in the day we don't do tomato stew but "ofe akwu" unlike the yorubas whose soup too has a blend of tomatoes
Infact the use of tomatoes in Igboland is foreign; none of our local meals originally has anything like tomatoes
Go to any yoruba restaurant watch how they prepare their own to Igbos
Yorubas add more oil and fry to high dryness
It has to be said that it’s not all Igbos who ate/eat ofe akwu as part of their native food. Only Anambra (and maybe Delta Igbo) people. And even some parts of Anambra never used to eat it (Awka for one). The rice cuisine of Nnewi isn’t the rice cuisine of all of ala Igbo.

Ofe akwu is completely foreign to Imo and Abia State Igbos. I don’t know what they knew before stew and jollof rice (in the conventional way that all Nigerians know today) but it certainly wasn’t banga stew.

At the end of the day the Nigerian community in the U.K. is far more established than the corresponding ones elsewhere in the world so yeah. Igbos in Liverpool and London perfected the art of making better jollof rice and moi-moi in the 1970s when home-based easterners were still doing yellow concoction pastes until the mid.-80s.
