There’s a whole myriad of places in the U.K. to explore outside bloody London but unfortunately most Nigerian-Nigerian people are too myopic and ignorant to see it. Never mind. |

seunny4lif: The matter dey hard Like I said British-Nigerian people (the full-fledged adults and the youth/millennials) are the black face of the U.K. and that’s non-negotioable. America might be a greater country in general but the UK’s the one really. And not just London. |
Travel › Re: Which Country Has The Most Nigerian Immigrants by Probz(m): 11:23am On Jul 10, 2021 |
Afam4eva: It's not the UK. The reason it seems like the UK is because it's a small country and most Nigerians there live in London and when there's a Nigerian thing happening in London, they all come out. I think there are more Nigerians in the US but are spread out in the 4th largest country in the world.
I'll say the US then followed by the UK. I also have a strong feeling that there are a lot of Nigerians in Cameroon but because i'll eyes are not really in that country, we won't know. It's very common to see Nigerian everyday in Cameroon. I bet you didn’t know that the Igbo community in Liverpool is the oldest said community in the diaspora (1935 start) and that there are a very large number of Nigerians in all major U.K. cities. The London thing is just a myth spread by Nigerians who see the U.K. in simplistic terms. |

seunny4lif:
Nigerians in UK can’t be more than 500K unlike USA that has around 2M Nigerians. Am talking about legal and illegal Nigerians oooh, I remember in 2017, in the N24 news, Nigerians were in top 10 highest in Germany for Aduro matter, around 35K Nigerians. Benin Rep, Ghana, Niger Rep, CIV and Cameroon are the highest maybe around 3M each. Benin Rep and Cameroon are still Nigeria to some people USA 1.5M UK 500K Canada 100K Ireland 20K Italy 200K Germany 100K
I think the difference is that there’s a more concentrated amount Nigerians in the U.K. relative to the US considering the latter’s huge population. 1.5 million in a country with up to 400 million doesn’t say as much as the similar amount (and it must be similar) for a country with 60 million. Plus there’s a much more established Nigerian identity in the U.K. than there is anywhere else in the world outside Nigeria (in as much as America’s obviously better for making it). American Nigerians are really corny. |

Youngvegetable: Help family. I have a child, a 5 year old boy who grew up with his mum. We were much younger when we had the child.
Until recently, she brought my child to me, she traveled to Ghana and married. I don't have a problem with that tho. My problem is with my son. He is too gentlemanly for my like. I don't even know if gentlemanly is the right term.
Dude is too timid for my liking. He looks exactly like me and all that but his behaviors are just not what I was when I was his age. He is too timid, kind and lenient. Please what could I do to toughen him up apart of beating. I need a my child. Imagine one small boy was dragging the biscuit I bought for him and he still have the boy and still give him water. It was the strangest thing I have seen in a while. Where the hell did he get that leniency and kindness from? I was never like this How is beating the answer? Did the boy choose to be shy? |

AlphaSoul: The correct/original Yoruba spelling is "moyin moyin" or "moin moin" when contracted.
The so-called 'moi moi' or 'mai mai' are wrong spellings.
Wow! The white moin moin or Ekuru is something I'd like to taste. Great thread! Ndi Igbo call it elele/mai-mai. Big deal. It’s not only Yorubas who have it as a near-indigenous food. |

Like the other poster said try and complement bones with meat (bones make tastier stock). If you can get your hands on duck/goat you’re in for one hell of a rice experience but chicken, beef and goat meat bones work just as well. Just be sure to use more wings (in the case of chicken meat) and you’ll want the cooking process to take place on low heat and lukewarm water. Hot water isn’t conducive for ultra-tastiness so don’t let the stock/broth come to a roaring boil. |

CharisEleos: Red beef for stew Torso for soup. He’s talking about jollof rice, not soup. OP: goose and duck are in a league of their own but out of the readily available options you can’t go wrong with (hen) chicken and/or goat meat. Beef’s a good choice too. |

Arda1000: no,if you like traveling you would notice that the percentage of human that like spicy foods are very small compared to the ones who don't like spicy foods, for example if someone who isn't African should try Yoruba food first I bet there's a 95 percent chance he or she will have stomach upset, even most Igbos who aren't born in Yoruba land will get stomach problems when they eat it first time am not sure about the other way around cause I haven't heard or seen where someone eat our food first and complained of stomach problems That might be true for other types of food but party jollof rice in particular is something that Yoruba people have on lock. That can’t be denied. |

AsherAmari: Hey!!!! This is my village thickener. Akprata.
It's a thickener quite alright but its not meant for soups. It's only used for Abacha popularly known as African salad. Its what is used in thickening Abacha sauce.
There are there good thickeners you can use for soups. Like:
Ofor,
ukpor, ( we call it aruru)
Ede mkpacha ( the tiny cocoa yam)
Or the common achi but I don't like the consistency of achi. The three above are better. But Akprata is a no no for soups. in my village o. Don't know about other places. Thanks for your response. Why’s there such a thing as ofe akparata if it’s not supposed to be used for soups? |
