In Great Britain during the 19th century, suicide was considered a serious crime. As serious as murder and attempted murder. Those who survived a failed suicide attempt would face criminal charges. It has even been documented that some were even hanged for their crime of attempted suicide during the late 19th century
And interracial marriage was also a crime. Go figure.

Personally No person ( I didn't even say woman) no repeat no mofo will scam me out of 50% of my property, my property and be alive to enjoy it period. I don't care what they say that's just me. Any man that likes they idea of child support is a fool if only the know the real agenda behind it. its basically emasculation and will also increase the number if female whoreness, trapping mofos with pregnancy while they use the child as ATM. Have any of you supporting this child support seen what it did to the Black American community?! The black women turned to numbskulls, a BT1000 like Tommy Sotomayor calls them. Call me whatever women are not supposed to be given such power because naturally women turn into tyrants when they are given power and history have proved this.
Well I trust the useless senators on this issue, they won't allow it, the west always pushing propaganda on Africa. That's how they brainwashes mofos that being gay is OK, putting too many gay nonsense in their movies to desensitize people on Homosexuals. If its not natural I hate it. They idiots say its natural to be a fkin gay Yet I've never seen any male animal fkin another male animal, what the FCK is this world turning into?!
Gay
Feminism
Hate speech( wtf is hate speech?! what happened to freedom of speech),
GMOs,
Child Support,
Alimony (how? why? women like it because once it benefits them most women don't care whether its killing the men. Most women lack good sense of judgement except very few like Annie Coulton, Judge Judy de try sha)
Cancer ( Its a money making machine for the elites)
HIV ( They cure is out but HIV is big business for the elite so they hide they cure and kill any doctor that tries to expose it),
Population control
and many other things are just hidden agenda to fk up the society yet most people are too fukin blind to decipher the intentions of these things.
Sometimes you just say fk it, let them keep using people's dumb brains to actualize their agenda.
Another example BBN that program is used to increase, encourage and program the mind of the society that immorality cool and rewards, when a number if fools are being celebrated for doing nothing but sleep, eat, dance, party & fuk are being rewarded with millions and given contracts by corporate bodies while the students that ace Waec, Neco, finish university with Distinction are given nothing or given 10k and people think its cool?
How can you sit down to watch people do nothing meaning BBN? tweet and vote for it? with tour time? TIME?! The average Nigerian is a stupid mofo, sad but true.
Now videos of small babies are twerking and people think its funny?! The society is big time fukd. I apologize for the typos its just that these kind of things infuriates me.
“Judge Judy dey try.”

Someone who’s been a judge for half a century and earns 45 million dollars a year just “dey try.” Is that right? You reckon you and her are in the same league?

Saying that 90% of households in Nigeria cook rice on Sunday is erroneous. Who did the research, you? Have you forgotten that some are Muslims, Christians and other religion. Even in Christian homes, not everyone cooks rice on Sunday. If you say 30-60% cook rice on Sunday, it will be pardoned (a range not a definite figure)
Food’s always coloured by subjectivity. You know damn well what she’s trying to say without having to over-rationalise and quantify everything to a T.

@Probz

Ondo, Ekiti and Ijebu have very colorful cuisines.

Amuyale- This dish is from Ondo and it's grated water yams wrapped and steamed in plantain leaves
Ojojo- Fried grated water yams from Ijebuland. It's commonly eaten for breakfast.
Obe eyen/Obe eyin - Yoruba version of banga soup.
Obe gbanunu- Aromatic soup made from a varierity of herbs like efurin from Ondo.
Obe koowu- This is one the most "bizarre" soup to an average Nigerian. It's made from the seeds of the cotton plant.
Is the last one not owo soup?

Food › Ekiti/ondo State Cuisine by Probz(op): 3:36am On Jun 21, 2018
Following on from another thread.

cc.9jakool

Let’s talk about indigenous foods from Eastern Yorubaland and Ekiti.

I’ll go.

Isapa soup
Ondo Town okro soup (the standard version)
Pounded yam and efo riro
Pupuru
Eweta (Marugbo) soup
Ekuu Odede (Ondo-style ukpo ogede/plantain mai mai)

That’s all I know off the top of my head. Anyone who knows about these cuisines can add more.

How common are standard Yoruba foods (all red and green shades of ayamase, dodo, ...) in these parts? I know ayamase’s more associated with Egba/Ogun people.

Nicely put! Ondo is famous for the marugbo soup, which isn't commonly eaten elsewhere. I like okro, especially when diced. If you like okro, then you might enjoy obe onla, the sister to okro soup. I don't know if you've had it before.

Some vegetables like ugwu and uziza are commonly used in cooking in the West. Ugwu with egusi is the best combo for me.

Actually, I'm not arguing with you. We don't always have to argue. This thread is about food, so let's dialogue.

The ewedu and gbegiri thing is really an optional thing among Yoruba people. I, like many others think it's a very putrid combo, others don't seem to mind it. While I like ewedu and gbegiri seperately, I don't like it combined.

Honestly, efo riro is quite universal, the Ekitis are just known for their efo riro and pounded yam combo. Efo riro is not just one dish. The most common type is efo tete and efo shoko, but there are others like efo amunutu, efo yanrin, efo patako, efo ewuro (bitterleaf), and efo efirin. Efo efirin is very aromatic and it's juice or leaves can be used in a type of regional pepper soup in the west.

I haven't seen okro and isapa combo, but interestingly enough, despite the differences, they both belong to the mallow family.
Obe onla. Hmm. That one sounds interesting. What’s that one like?

I know the Yoruba scholar in you will jump up at anything that goes against your opinion.

“Which tribe in Nigeria has the best soups?”

Best in this context is blatantly subjective. You’re here having a go at anyone who doesn’t think Yoruba soups are the best and that’s just it innit. It’s all opinion. And opinions don’t need to be quantified or given a critical analysis just because it’s not what you want to hear.

Mainline Yorubas. Ondo and Ekiti foods are in a different league to the rest.

That’s as far as soups go. I know Yorubas even in the Lagos/Ibadan have enough food, always have done. It’s just their soups

What soups have you tested from Ondo? Have you tried Isapa? It's most notably common in EKiti.
I’ve had their vegetable soups (including Ondo black soup) plus their original take on okro soup. Okwuru’s been there in Igboland since time immemorial but outside the east the one place that springs to mind re. authentic okro soup is Ondo town. Not Delta, not any other mid-western region but Ondo town specifically.

All the variations of efo riro I ascribe to Ekiti. Enlighten me if it belongs to another state.

All the vegetable soups that side of the SW are some of the best in the country. Especially the ogede/plantain-based ones.

I’m not slagging off Yoruba soups for the sake of it. I was talking more about the northwestern Yoruba/Ibadan/Lagos that’s used as the norm to represent mainline Yoruba. Go deeper into the Yoruba hinterland and you’ll see some of the best foods in the country. That I know. Ondo and Ekiti soups are in a different league to the rest.

Yes I’ve had isapa soup. Interestingly those soaps leaves spring from the mallow family so you can combine them with any fiber-fruity hard staple. Has anyone been known to add them to okro soup yet?

You dey mind am?

He is simply repeating the same silly stereotypes people circulate around.

If I start to mention the names of traditional soups, vegetables and stews in Yoruba, I wonder how many he will be able to recognize. He keeps posting pictures of Ewedu and Gbegiri like it is the only Yoruba soup in the world. That Ayamashe you just mentioned, he knows nothing about it, lol.

Don't even start me on Yoruba appetizers and snacks from Asun to Gizdodo to dundun to Ipekere to Ojojo. Igbo appetizers are forest grubs and millepedes.... If you know the kind of things these people eat in their villages, you will take to your heels and NEVER look back.
Yoruba people have the best stews for rice hands down. Including olori ofada. I’m talking purely about soups. At least follow the thread.

My point is Yorubas have some quite tasty foods on the whole but they’re not known for nutritious soups save they’re from Ondo state. Mention gizdodo, asun, olori ofada, red ayamase and ikokore all you want. That’s got nothing to do with what I’m saying about soups for swallow a few states excepted.

Which truth?

Visit authentic Yoruba villages in my state and let them cook good food for you.

What most igbos don't realize that the so called signature meals in bukas or parties are just quick fixes made either for their simplicity, economic feasibility, maneuverability or ability to keep/last.
Its like eating ramen or noodle in Beijing as an expatriate there and you start complaing that Chinese cuisine is shit because that is what your scope of their food is LIMITED to. You can find good food all over Nigeria.... Even people who complain they hausas have got "no food" will still rob a bank just to buy kilishi or Suya.
It’s a little tongue-in-cheek. It doesn’t need quantifying.

I know Yoruba food well. Like I said it’s Ondo and Ekiti state people that have good soups. Notice I’m not talking about any old food but swallow. I just don’t think they’re a strong point of people further west than Ondo.

Yoruba soups can’t compete with eastern and south-south soups and you look dumb for trying to deny it. It’s common knowledge. And there’s no way ewedu looks better than ofe nsala, and you know that 104%. I guarantee it.

Sorry if you don’t want to see or admit the obvious truth but what’s there to even deny, sef? We’re talking about soups, not party jollof (which Yoruba people do have a claim to doing somewhat/slightly better than Igbos). So what’s that?
