HealthWhat Should Someone Do In Case Of A Snake Bite? by professore(op): 2:26pm On May 14, 2016
Just a few days ago I saw a thread where someone said her mum was stung by a Scorpion;and to me he got the needed attention, but rather too late, why would someone wait to be stung before knowing what to do as first aid.

Well these are the tips from the post:
1)Tie a heavy cloth firmly above the spot of the sting
2)Eat a full bulb of Onion
3)Slice/cut open the spot of the sting and rub some Onions on it.
4)The above should be enough, but if u wish,u can go to the hospital afterwards

Note:a scorpion sting is extremely painful to a healthy adult, and lethal to young kids and elders.

Here is the link to the thread: https://www.nairaland.com/3096135/scorpion-stung-mum

Now to the topic, following the outbreak of snakes as evident on Nairaland where people post how they escaped a snake bite, one should be curious to know what to do in case of Snake bite: as Snakes are lethal either to infants, adults or elders;we should not wait till we are bitten,we should not take chances, this thread may safe a life sooner or later, thanks.

PoliticsRe: Fuel Price Increase: Shehu Sani Reacts, Warns Buhari by professore(m):
[quote author=derecho post=45572389]In 1892 at Stanford University, an 18-year-old student was struggling to pay his fees. He was an orphan, and not knowing where to turn for money, he came up with a bright idea. He and a friend decided to host a musical concert on campus to raise money for their education.

They reached out to the great pianist Ignacy J. Paderewski. His manager demanded a guaranteed fee of $2000 for the piano recital. A deal was struck and the boys began to work to make the concert a success. The big day arrived. But unfortunately, they had not managed to sell enough tickets. The total collection was only $1600. Disappointed, they went to Paderewski and explained their plight. They gave him the entire $1600, plus a cheque for the balance $400. They promised to honour the cheque at the soonest possible.

“No,” said Paderewski. “This is not acceptable.” He tore up the cheque, returned the $1600 and told the two boys: “Here’s the $1600. Please deduct whatever expenses you have incurred. Keep the money you need for your fees. And just give me whatever is left”. The boys were surprised, and thanked him profusely. It was a small act of kindness. But it clearly marked out Paderewski as a great human being. Why should he help two people he did not even know? We all come across situations like these in our lives. And most of us only think “If I help them, what would happen to me?” The truly great people think, “If I don’t help them, what will happen to them?” They don’t do it expecting something in return. They do it because they feel it’s the right thing to do.

Paderewski later went on to become the Prime Minister of Poland. He was a great leader, but unfortunately when the World War began, Poland was ravaged. There were more than 1.5 million people starving in his country, and no money to feed them. Paderewski did not know where to turn for help. He reached out to the US Food and Relief Administration for help.He heard there was a man called Herbert Hoover — who later went on to become the US President. Hoover agreed to help and quickly shipped tons of food grains to feed the starving Polish people.A calamity was averted. Paderewski was relieved.

He decided to go across to meet Hoover and personally thank him. When Paderewski began to thank Hoover for his noble gesture, Hoover quickly interjected and said, “You shouldn’t be thanking me Mr. Prime Minister. You may not remember this, but several years ago, you helped two young students go through college. I was one of them.”

The world is a wonderful place. What goes around comes around. Please help others to the best of your ability. In the long run you may be helping yourself. God never forgets anyone who sows a good seed in other people, never.

Nothing in nature lives for itself. Rivers don't drink their own water. Trees don't eat their own fruit. Sun doesn't give heat for itself. Flowers don't spread fragrance for themselves. Living for others is the rule of nature. And therein lies the secret of living.

If you find this useful please pass it on.

PropertiesRe: Beware! – Buying These Lands May Increase Your Construction Cost Astronomically! by professore(m): 12:28pm On May 13, 2016
It has become increasingly important for prospective buyers of land to not hurriedly pay money for lands because they are cheap, but to ensure they do some due diligence to determine how economical it would be to build on such land

Some people have said that if they see a plot of land which looks good on the surface, taking out time to carry out this due diligence might make them lose the land to another buyer, but let me say here that “it is better to be sure about a thing than to be sorry about it later.”

This is the reason why some people have said that the rainy season is always the best time to source for and purchase land, as it shows the land in its actual physical state.

These statements impressed me,nice post.

Lastly, I believe most controlling relationships do involve being physical sometimes, report to the police. You decide not to make an arrest but let them be aware of what you are going through. Most importantly, quit the relationship early.

This post is helpful and especially the part I quoted.
HealthRe: Help, A Scorpion Stung My Mum. by professore(m):
Zealous2710:
Good day fellow Nairalanders. Jst some minutes ago, I saw my mum dressing up to go out. I asked where she was going cos she never told me she will be going out this early morning. She said she wanted to go ask our neighbor if they have this local antidote popularly known has "Aporo Epa'jebu". Before she could finish what she was saying I noticed there was something tied to her leg. I asked what happen and she told me she was stung by a little scorpion.
I remembered I have this antidote which friend gave to me when I was going for my NYSC last year. (Passed out last month). Now, she has taken the antidote but please anybody with a useful information on how to treat a scorpion bite. Thank you in advance.
.... Help do d needful. Thanks.
U should use a thick cloth to tie her above the affected area firmly,if u have Onion, remove the covering, slice it into two halves and give them to her to eat immediately, then cut open the spot of the sting then rub onion or aporo epa ijebu on it,best of luck.

How many weeks does it take one's school to send transcripts to the Undergraduate Admission Office, University of Ibadan? I've processed mine from my institution exactly a week ago but unsure when it is gonna be delivered to Ibadan. Besides, there is not really anything through which one can track it except going to UI to confirm its receipt from the receipents therein.
I've done the necessary things. Registered for DE, Processed Transcript, Submitted Credentials at Jamb Office, but I'm yet to ascertain the receipt of my transcript. I completed my Diploma from Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro. Anybody got an idea?
I got more than an idea,I got a fact, don't u know some transcripts are delievered to post graduate admission office? Which will affect such candidate,I advice that u pray from ur pastor for safe journey and go to UI undergraduate admissions to confirm the receipt of ur transcript, this way ur own mind will even be at peace.Considering the length of time it will take,I think ur school should tell u verbally, then if u provided an active email,u should receive updates from the day of processing till delivery, then u can be able to determine when to go to UI to confirm.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: What Is The Difference Between Application Letter And Cover Letter? by professore(m): 7:46pm On May 02, 2016
Nature129:
Anyone can easily pass an application letter for a cover letter because both of them serve the same purpose, but there is a difference. The difference between the 2 is that an application letter "can stand alone" while a cover letter "can't stand alone."

To make myself understood clearer, when you send an application letter, you don't necessarily have to send a CV alongside unlike a cover letter. So a cover letter just like the name denotes covers/serves your CV. That is, when you send your CV to an employer, you send your cover letter alongside. A good cover letter will always say, "As you will see from my enclosed CV..." This tells your prospective employer that you are discussing what you have on your CV.

As for samples, go to Google search and type "Good cover letter samples" and click on "image." They will give you lots of them.

Alternatively, get a copy of Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, 8th Edition, to get all the info you need about how to write cover letters, CVs, essay, films, reports, proposals, etc on its thick page.

Remember that good CV and cover letters don't give jobs, they merely earn you interviews.

Hope this helps...grin
U made sense
