yodiyokun:If anyone has Crusader, please share. Even just the numbers if there is no link. |
The love of WEMA is the beginning of wisdom. End of story. ![]() |
This can only be an error from their side. |
wanaj0:I think OandO is already hot but maybe you want to wait till year end results. I am already playing though. Except for a late challenge from AP, I expect them to post the best PAT even after deducting minority interest. They are on course for at least PAT 0f 3.8B even after deducting minority interest. Just see what Chevron and Total posted this week. They are nowhere near even in terms of value (not just PAT). Let's see if AP will spring an Otedola surprise. I already sold my AP after 50% gain within 7 weeks. . My #1 gamble stock for this year. |

wanaj0:I think the numbers are right. Full subscription to the IPO would have resulted in 2.08B shares but due to under-subscription I am working with 1.73B. If the results hold, I think this is a hot stock. As for profits, they've already declared pat of 395M half year but thanks, no diving in without caution. |
osazeet:No. Buying Wema now at N14 is not a good idea. The PO is rumoured to be at least N10. No idea when it will start. |
yodiyokun:I think sometimes it's good when a stock one is holding is dropping in price . Crusader for me is an example. If it dips below 5% of the price of my current holding, I will just buy more. If I think the price was good when I bought it, it is even better when it drops provided nothing has changed fundamentally. I don't think a rally at this time is any good anyway. It will be short lived. I want the rally when the bulls return. Of course I can understand it's a dfferent feeling if you've already bought all you want of the stock. As an example, I'm trying to get more Lawunion but the stubborn stock, though fluctuating has remained above my bid price for 2 weeks. I'm not happy about this though I already have the stock. I just want the price to drop so I can buy more ![]() Strange tactic but I think it works (sometimes ). |
pumping777:For one, Ikeja Hotel is inviting with a forward PE of 8.8. I really believe in numbers, The PP investors are taking profit. |
RoughCut:N14 Naira is a fair deal to me. I will sell 90% at that price. I think also that if WEMA releases results in line with the Q-1 results, hitting N18 after lifting TS is almost a done deal. |
easimoni:Yes, I was happy to see the further drop. I will be meeting you in the boardroom ![]() |
WEMA is still very resilient, closing strong at N13.52 (~5%) after hitting a low of N12.55. |
blest:At exactly what price did you buy and is your strategy long term or short term? |
felo12:Thank you bo. I wan fear. |
@ springss Interesting situation you are in. This is how I see it. Your short term is 2 months and you bought UBA at 53 Naira. I don't see the likelihood that you will make profit in this short term based on todays price. You are looking for a rise of 7% to break even, which means the stock price has to rise to about 56 Naira before middle of Jan 08. The chances are there but quite slim. Just remember that while you are hoping to recover your 7% and make a profit and you are also exposed to further loss. UBA promised a PAT of 17B for 2007 and now and projections are now based on almost 24B. I will be amazed if they go ahead to even exceed this 24B. If this 24B or greater amount is announced early enough, I think you can still make it. Those that are in for the long term will still take position and this should reflect positively on the price. Th right thing to do will be to sell now but all said and done, this is what I will do since I like taking risks as they come. If you really 2 months to wait, wait it out. This 7% rise can happen in quick succession of for no unknown reason and you can quickly cash out and cut your losses especially if the results are released. Even if you are able to recover 3-4% it is still something provided you don't have something that can generate income if you sold today. |
Ben0524:The Q-3 results for NEM shows PAT of 330M so they may be on track for 450M-500M by fiscal year end. I have an oustanding share figure of 5.4B for NEM so I think the stock is still expensive at 2 Naira. Even at N1.50, you'll still be looking at a PE of around 18. So I don't think you should go for this right now. You have better options in insurance. |
Looking at Nahcos' Q-3 result, I'm curious to see if they will hit the forecast PAT of 557M for 2007. Anyway, the PO funds might make a difference in the 4th quarter. Q-3 PAT is around 375M. |
nazzyon:Also, the full absorbtion of the over-subscription from the PO. Oceanic now has over 22B outstanding share. Tough if you are in for the short term. |
Yes, this is the problem. By the time the PO comes out, the price will have risen to a point that doesnt't make it hot anymore. |
wanaj0:You are not the only one at all but getting the stock is another matter. Only 15,000 units were sold today. I've given up looking for the stock after 2 weeks of trying. |
adeyinkat:I don't know if I share this Japaul sentiments so strongly in the short term. The result is not not spectacular to me. 318M in 9 months or did I get this wrong? I know it looks great compared to last years result but the project PAT for Japaul this year is 450M and this still leaves us with PE above 30. This results shows they are on track to meet this target and nothing more. If I can see signs of them returning 600M by fiscal year end then I'll be impressed. Or am I off track? |
Well, Oando is on course. I remain loyal. |
RoughCut:More to sell but at a lower price. If the price does not rally after the mark down for bonus and dividends you will lose out. FBN was a good example. |
Oops!!!! I see Wanaj0 already posted it. Thanks. |
Can someone please share Oando's result ![]() |
shakasha:Please don't. If you must buy now, go for FCMB. Platinum may even be better than FCMB but it is not out yet. |
krisbobo:Everyone reacts differently to bonus issues. For me if the announcement of bonus is not driviing the price then I sell. In fact the instruction I have just sent to my broker is to sell all my UBN. Moreover, you've made more than a 100% so I don't see what you are waiting for. Even long term, many stocks are still better than UBN. Some people can never sell without getting bonus though, so you decide. If you sell and you want buy insurance then Crusader is good at the current price and the price is still dropping but this may end soon. Unic has risen a bit after the interim result was released so you may want to study it a bit since it lost momentum today. For my portfolio, Lawunion remains the majority of my holdings as far as insurance goes. |
wanaj0:Just a joke really ![]() |
Someone posted the results for Oando but I can't open it. Can anyone help with the PAT? Thanks. |
@ easimoni - Did you go for the Ikeja Hotels? If the price drops again tomorrow, I will start joining the fray. |
easimoni:I suspect you drove down the price when you hit the market .Seriously the temporary drop in price portends a bad sign but my real worry is the TS. Many investors are selling because they don't want to be caught by TS. |
See what you have all done to Diamond Bank now, rising up to 18.50 today ![]() |

And to think I'm also smiling broadly as l watch WEMA too.
); it's the first sign that the momentum might be waning.
