The closure date is what has killed the Dangote stock. Next week Monday and this week has another 2 days of holidays. Many folks like to sell before closure of the register instead of waiting endlessly for the bonus shares and dividends. It means one has  only a 3 day window after today to sell. They're probably worried about the stock becoming over-priced.

@ pumping777, is it me or are fundamentals going down the drain nowadays. yes i know they will be back but whats all his talk about ABC transpor at 7 nairahuh shocked is there some thing i am missing, whats all the fuss about it. please let me know because i need ro pick something up on monday
Fundamentals don't support ABC right now. The attraction for some is the potential to grow PAT based on rumour of solid results and some new businesses they have acquired. See some of WindyWendy posts for more info on this. Also rumour of bonus.

You've seen me bolding BetaGlass in a few posts up there. That is my current strike. I've been accumulating since last week after I CICO out of it the previous week only to see it drop to N25 again. With good potentials and PAT that has been growing significantly since the turnaround in 2004, I am very interested. If bonus come enter join, all the better.

@ Fof2

I sold my UAC prop today after a 8% gain post commission because the stock wasnt interesting and I didnt remember why I entered in the first place. Plus I have finally seen green on my DSR as i bought at 49 naira during the post PO rally. FINALLY!

@ Windywendy

I actually placed an order for may and baker already but since my broker is ajebo, he hasnt gotten it? based on fundamentals I think I have about 500k to put into one stock, would you recommend niwicable, maybaker or betaglass? so Ill make it an order for monday

I have already asked another broker to get me livestock and presco.

@ All

Your contribution would be greatly appreciated.

Its so interesting to see many CICO advocates now thinking longterm , without even seeing the bears yet. Just rewind this thread to three months ago (before my resignation) , when the fundamentalists were warning that he who is escorted will one day bear the brunt!
My man!!! Abeg make you try give me the links up jo wink wink wink

Yes o. As bear market don reach now, advocates of long term don dey spring up. Are you surprised? I am not. I already saw in the last 3 weeks ago that the positive and motivating posts just diminish one time. Many are not used to the NSE where prices can go down too. grin grin grin

BTW for next year's bull market ( I hope it comes) I no go buy any stock we be like say e get fundamentals check out the stocks that have returned >300% this year : AFPRINT, LIVESTOCK, ALUMACO, FIRSTALUM (the Rio tinto gist might be at work here as well as the ALSCON tori), JOHNHOLT need I say more
No be me talk this one, many people don write about am before before. Next year, many folks will join you in positioning for the market in this way making certain the strategy is not likely to work!!!

What I suspect is that many folks will position for all these fundamentaless penny stocks towards the end of this year expecting a bear run next year.

These stocks na just like fashion. Next year fit be the time for the banks or heavily capitalized stocks. Just be sure that the strategy that will work best is that one which has been adopted by few people.

Last year, timing interim results did a lot of magic. This year results have actually resulted in an anti-climax for many stocks especially those in banking. Bonus is the one magic word I know is still working sha year in year out.

Yep that's correct but they were psyching up DEAP Capital for TS in preparation for the IPO so i sincerely hope this is not the same for ABC
In fact I hope this is the case grin grin grin Deap gained over 100% before it went on TS and if I had the stock, I would have sold long before that TS arrived. It did not even go on TS until weeks after closure of register. I would have sold before then for sure.

That would be a good idea if the rumours of impending TS are not true. Dont know why it dipped though the rumours of a bonus are very thick in the air
True o. ABC get flat tire today. Make I start to dey look that side jo.

One thing I noticed sha, many times these stocks dip before the main rally so the insiders can load up. Deap Capital na recent example. Na after dem don pack up finish dem go come start to dey talk the bonus matter for open.

Frankly, I'm just waiting this out as I don hear say FY results PAT go exceed expectations of N830M but I don't feel too good buying at a premium. Just never figured it will dip as low as it did.

The other thing I heard is that a PO is planned so I may move out if the PO rumour get's any stronger.

Zenith securities was also showing Ikeja Hotels as dropping the price today whereas other sites i checked were showing Ikeja hotels as actually gaining those are the two i can remember on top of my head so don't know which is which!
Nigerian Securities was correct apart from the opening prices. This has now been updated.

I don't use them. I used them for one transaction last year and that was it. However, I left stock some stocks in my account which I needed to liquidate.

@ pumping 777, no wahala.
BY THE WAY PUMPING, ive bin loking at IEI and my avice to you is , no shaking!!! RSI leans to 40 right now, its actually back to the price it started at this year. u might want to average out, at this price i see a possible 25-30% CICO. i also think red star express is looking appealing, at 30% from its year high. i still need more time sha. have yo noticed nigerian breweries, that is now amog the top 10 most undervalued stocks on the NSE.
Thanks for that. I averaged out at N6.00 already. Make I siddon dey look.

The stock of Staco Insurance Plc was today placed on technical suspension following the receipt of applicationfor a hybrid issue of rights and public offer for subscription of new shares at N5.00 and N5.50 respectively

@ Pumping, AKTopgun, windywendy, yodiyokun and all,

What do you advice I do with my Staco, I get am plenty with loan at 17% p.a I even get small for my cico portfolio, that one na my money so no shaking.

Please I strongly need your advice oh.
How much did you buy? Just trying to figure out if you have already made net profit with the loan interest. Also when does the term of your loan end that you need to return the principal?

I think the stock has gone on TS at a relative high price. If you are using borrowed funds, I don't think sticking with Staco now is a such a good idea. First you have to see if it ends up on net bid or offer during TS to even know if you can easily sell and go for something else. There are many opportunities right now that may do better than insurance short term.

@Pumping, M&B's forward P/E is like 48 o (projected PAT of about 250, which I believe is fair)! None of the health sector stocks have great fundamentals. Neimeth was good for a 20% cico (like 15% post commission) between last week and early this week tough, but  I won't invest in any of those medium term o, unless there's something good in the offing.
You're very correct o!!! You do well. I no sabi where I see the Q-3 PAT for 330M. Make I carry wetin I don chop comot before I come hear tory  grin grin

I saw some posts about BGL PP at N8.50 per unit. Maybe this one is from those that warehoused some units.

As far as I know, the shares cost N7 per unit with minimum of 1M units.

A major change from the former plan to list in 18 months is the plan to list in December this year and also to pay dividends for FY 2008. See extract below.

------
please find below listed new features of the BGL PP as agreed at the last mgt meeting of BGL which held on Monday 10th March, 2008

* Listing of the shares have been moved forward from the earlier stated 18months to December, 2008. (this is as a result of our need to respond to market dynamics and also from pressures from foreign investors.

* the process of converting to a PLC has commenced in ernest with the Board meeting this Friday to ratify the decision.

* The OTC will commence in April/May and would be carried on Rueters and Bloomberg to ensure transparency and liquidity

* Dividend will be paid in July after our June 30 year end. (this ensure adequate returns on your investments pending the listing)

* The listing price would be N30 (this based on already achieved performance indicators. If you look at the reserve in our balance sheet, you will see a N12b already staying cool there. So far we have made about N4b. this will ensure that we hit the target price upon listing.) but lets work on N15-N20, that is already above 100% ROI without the DD that would be paid in June.

* We are strengthening corporate governance by appointing two new non-executive Directors on the Board. Announcement will be made soon.
