Now there was this particular week (I think we were on semester break), I didn't know how he found this girl, but he invited her over. She was fair-skinned, very slim but endowed and spoke good English with a nice Hausa acsent.

That day, I got there quite late, so I don't know how she came. I did not also to bother asking her name. To me, she was elegantly dressed for that kind of job she came for.

When I entered, I just gave her a quick wave, sat at the decoder and began to tune station-to-station endlessly.

When it got to around 7 or 7:30 that day. I started hearing noises.
I thought it was the usual noise from their romp, until the altercation flew through to the heavens.

Suddenly, they both stormed out of the room, sweating furiously. My friend was just 'paraing' and stamping his feet around the parlour like a wounded ram.

When I beckoned on her to tell me what had transpired in the room, she alleged that Cyr wanted to have sex without protection. I was bedazzled. All my effort to profess calm in the room fell on their deaf ears. In what seemed like a flash, she pick up her hand bag and dashed out. Without a minute of thought, I followed. I grew up on the mainland. Precisely Ebute Metta, Yaba, Shomulu and Bariga Axis.
Anyone familiar with this places knows almost every Young guy staying in this areas are into Yahoo. In recent times I have heard countless stories of girls being used through diabolical means by Yahoo boys so their Magas(usually white men or women) will pay them huge amounts of money.

Sometimes the money they receive from these magas runs into millions of dollars. I have seen a 22 years old dude hit around 2 million dollars from his very rich white woman during the lockdown on the mainland(please note I am not blowing up figures here, saying what I know). You need to see the Cars and house this guy bought after hitting that huge amount. Later news started flying around that he used his girlfriend and some other girls, before his white client could pay him that amount.

I have heard countless stories of how girls are being used before some Yahoo boys could hit it big and the funniest thing is , girls keep drooling over these guys even with all these diabolical stories about them.

My close friend who stays in Ogun state used to tell me how sometimes Young guys will park their expensive cars by the roadside, come out and start vomiting blood or in some cases bark like dogs till they die mysteriously. If I ask why they die like that, his response will be...,Maybe they have refused to renew their sacrifices or they tried using a girl with strong spirits and it back fired, or probably their time enjoying the money is up( this means after doing some sacrifices to a particular deity for money. After two or three years of enjoying the money, then the person time will be up and he will die mysteriously). I was like damnnnnnnn.. Boiz dey really do things ooo

I don’t use to believe these stories because I am an irreligious person, but with the current economic hardship and what’s happening lately, I think most of these stories might be true. And the saddest part is, their is no sign that things will get any better soon. So things like this will continue to happen. This is going to be a really long one.

I'm a 21 year old penultimate student of one of Nigeria's federal universities.

I'm one of those, I can never work under a boss. I'd rather have my own business people. However, this choice took a different turn the relationship I thought was going to lead me through the isle ended in the mud. I eventually figured out that my decision to own my own business and not get a job were influenced by three things:

1. My life was wrapped around the guy I was in a relationship with. I didn't really have a life of my own. My ambition when I was with him was mostly to start a business, finish my first degree, and be a sit-at-home mum and wife. I kicked against getting a second degree and even rejected two sponsorships to relocate to Canada because I wanted to be with my man (my mumu no get part two that time).

2. I saw how badly my mom was treated at her place of work by her boss(es). I'd usually get angry and eventually vowed never to get a job.

3. I considered myself someone who's not brilliant and smart enough for the cooperate world. (Low self-esteem).

The nonsense relationship ended in a terrible way but I eventually picked up myself and moved on. Now, I'm beginning to love the cooperate world but choosing a career path has become a headache. I've been totally confused. Some of my classmates are taking ICAN and ACCA. Some are also taking CFA courses (I'm studying economics) but I have no interest in CFA, ICAN or ACCA.

I spoke with a friend of mine and he advised me to consider data analysis but I have my doubts and fears. So many questions have been ringing in my head.

How do I choose a career path that I don't eventually get frustrated with at the end of the day?

How promising is Data analysis as a career path?

What's the average pay in this field.

I'd really love to thread a path where I have even the slightest spark of passion but I can't seem to connect my passion with data analysis.

Is passion important in choosing a career path?

It feels like I've been wasting my life all these years on a man so much that the only passions I have are:

1. Writing (I earned a few naira notes during the lockdown from this)
2. Hair styling (I fantasize about this and even beg people to let me make their hair)
3. Selling (I really love to sell)

What else? Nothing.

If I'm going to be sincere and truthful to myself, those three things are the only things that truly make sense to me when it comes to earning but I feel I should do more and spend some time in the cooperate world.
