RomanceRe: She Can't Marry A Barber by qtguru(m): 4:48pm On Mar 25, 2022
Zee0007:
My fellow nairalanders help me out on this. My immediate elder sister said she can't marry the guy she's dating.

The guy is a successful barber. I love the guy because he seem responsible and well cultured. From the looks of things, he will make a good husband for her.

But my sister shook the whole house yesterday when the supposed barber proposed to her, She outrightly rejected the guy because of his profession.

She's in her mid 20s. Please what should we do? She's getting older but she seems not to realise.

The guy called me this morning and pleaded with me to talk to her. What will I say to her, now?

A wider view will be much appreciated.
She is an adult

Well, in my own opinion I think being single has a lot of benefits than being married.
Single life is sad cry, I'd rather be married, who are you making all these money for huh Emotional support matters for a man, Imagine busting your ass at work to come home to an empty house or no loved ones.

To each their own.

Your first paragraph is in order and any woman who will actually know when to support her man without been told to do so,we all have our responsibilities and you've never seen women asking men to carry pregnancy or nurse a child. Most men are very Insensitive to the plight of women, even a housewife has more job to do than a working class woman
1st bolded part, exactly my point but you'd be surprise to know some women don't share that mentality with you, as for the last bolded part, that onus is on you to ensure to choose the type of partner you want.

As for Housewives doing more jobs than working class, hmmm because I have colleagues who work from home fully and still take care of the kids, I know you want to make Housewives feel good but logically I would disagree but to each their own. Housewive duties are important, it's a matter of what matters to that person.

70:30? How are you going to discuss it with your patner, what bills will you be assigning to her?i don’t just get it.The thing is I will fall out of love with any man who starts discussing bills with me and the percentage that I’ll be shouldering,it shows there’s no love in the first place but business transactions and some selfish interests. Is love not supposed to be blind abi the blindness should solely be on the woman who will be expected to be perfect at all other things while the man can be escused just because he’s doing his provider role? What else do men bring to the table aside money? What makes you a man?Why do you demand respect from your spouse? If you want your woman to start sharing the financial responsibilities with you,do you still deserve total respect from her? There’s a reason why God created us differently but I don’t understand You modern men any longer
It is not discussed it's common sense that all bills will break anyone financially, you should know your man more than anyone else, enough to know his breaking point. If you have a good man paying bills and you know he is struggling, assist don't say he is a man, he is meant to handle all these on his own, no African man discusses numbers of bills to decide.

You must bring something to the table, being a woman doesn't cut anymore,

Are you bringing Comfort, Empathy, ability to support your husband, respect. Money is required from everyone regardless. You women are not the prize as the past has led you to believe. Marriage is coming together of two adults to make things work.

Why would I choose a liability when I can choose someone who makes my life easier, but i understand you sha, if I were a woman, I'd also want a traditional man to work while I put my feet in the air.
RomanceRe: Why Are Guys Losing Interest In Settling Down? by qtguru(m): 11:08am On Mar 25, 2022
Iyaebe:
Will you still call me a liability if I work and earn? All I have been saying is that no man should have eyes on his wife’s money, she will assist you when necessary but you must be in charge and a total provider, only a dysfunctional home has the woman contributing majorly financially, such homes breed irresponsible sons in future. My dad does not even know and care if my mom earns or not but my mom can more than take the mantle of leadership if needs be(God forbids it,I reject it),she takes care of some things without my dads knowledge and so on.I know times are hard but I detest men who have that mentality of 50:50 and those ones who ask what you’ll be bringing to the table,it is the reason I will always tell a man I’m doing nothing so that I will know what he’s up to,I just hate men with that mentality.Only a wicked man will be happy and comfortable seeing his wife struggle too much, even if fate brings that situation to her,the husband should never feel happy and comfortable in that.
Nope your statement has always been a man is to toil the soil for the family while the wife handles her money anyhow she likes, No African responsible man goes into marriage looking at his wive's purse but it's also a good feeling to know, you have a supportive partner. Let's face it, not alot of men earn enough to play that role traditionally. You have to bring something to the table, this is not playground, this is a family household. my principle is always 70 30, I cover 70 and you chide in 30. You think I want to wake up and slaving myself for someone just for the person to be more financially ahead of me and I do not benefit from that

Who does that ?

You personally are not always realistic in your answers which is why I called you "Naive" not as an insult, but the fact that that's not in touch with reality.

I cover all the bills naturally, but a women's gesture to doing things on her own for me will appeal to me more, than someone who doesn't hence why no man wants to date a liability.

Your Father's period has passed, this is a new economy and generation

Truvelisback:
The responsibilies in marriage is damn heavy and very expensive. Sadly, nowadays ladies aren't helping matters with what they are earning, some of them are even idle(no job) and have become liability to guys. I guess guys are trying to avoid a senerio like this.
I disagree, I cannot chose a libability you must bring something, the likes of Iyaebe and the rest fantasize about Marriage where Hubby is paying for everything, but how feasible is that in this new economy ? if you; as a wife cannot contribute to the house-hold financially to a degree, then prepare for a resentful Husband who will do it, and believe he is owed more.

I cannot be with a woman who brings nothing to the table, if I die tomorrow, who takes care of the kids.

It's not that deep, it's only on NL people don't marry outside reasonable people come together and have a plan for how the marriage will function, we have too much vitriol here to even have a simple discussion about Marriage.

ProgrammingRe: My Journey Into React Native by qtguru(op): 9:28pm On Mar 24, 2022
So I have finally built a stable working version for the React Native Application, it's has been an interesting journey.

1. Redux in React Native

The MatterMost source code heavily relies on Redux to map the state and props to the component, the neccessary reducers are invoked during a dispatch. Initially I found it complex to understand but as time went by, I finally understand the role of Redux properly and now can't imagine working with out it. It is so convienient.

2. C++ and JSI

React Native Architecture was rewritten to access Native C++ from JS and to JS using V8, this makes it easy to expose Native Android Modules to JS, this requires some knowledge of C++

3. Fabric

This is something I have not yet found time to cover, but it is the rendering engine for RN is all I know

What I did

I simply rewrote some part of MatterMost Open source code to accept our screens, and I created my own sidebar and took out code from the MatterMost Sidebar to incorporate their teams and channels to it, most are simply HTTP calls to fetch them in json, and Redux. As for the chat it uses WebSocket from Android to the MatterMost server running on docker locally.

Here is the screenshot of the App

Personal Verdict: React Native is a messy platform to develop for, half of the times, you have to be very familiar with npm, Gradle issues and also general Metro issues when bundling. I would most likely move to Flutter after this project. RN is amazing though, but the development work experience is hell especially when working with 3rd libraries. I've had to dig into some source code to fix somethings.

ProgrammingRe: Are There Reliable Game Builders In Nigeria? by qtguru(m): 3:00pm On Mar 23, 2022
I have the idea of building a game, I was into ActionScript , Sheriman is right, you can do indie games but it is still a lot of work, even the arts then comes the hunger. your game can be pirated, however if you are serious about games, you should look into H5P and LMS, you can make educative games.
