Pily: Where do you get this information from?? You don't need to understand French to get a social worker job!!! In Canada unless you're working in Québec. Also there are jobs everywhere especially outside the tech circle. Make up your mind and get reliable facts please. |

bennyg24: That's a good question. I'm also on part time basis for now and I can tell you it is very stressful. The Canadian education system is so demanding now I understand why they ask you not to work more than 20hrs a week. You literally come back home tired every day and trust me that's the reality check of Canada don't let anyone deceive you. It's a System here there isn't any African time syndrome. You have your lecture hours and shifts at work. You can obviously work but to make it easier follow this tips: 1. Plan your courses well with your course advisor so you have enough free time. For example lectures Monday-Wednesday and working Thursday, Friday and Saturday. I hope you get the drift. Or classes Monday, Wednesday and Friday and working in between those days. Balance is key and essential to having a good Education work balance till you get a better immigration status. Professors and assignment/quiz here are like 5&6. Some people actually take semester's off due to the pressure especially for thesis programs where you don't write exams just reports and projects. P.s: when you are working part time what you make is mostly only good enough to pay monthly expenses so don't expect to save unless someone gives you money from home or something. Please be guided don't have misconceptions ! 8 Likes 1 Share |

Hello Everyone, I want to make an observation of what I noticed regarding employment here in Canada. I am writing this post to prepare everyone intending to come over here about the reality of the Employment stream for new arrivals/Immigrants "The wage gap between immigrants and Canadian-born workers has more than doubled in the last 30 years, according to a new report by the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) — despite the federal government placing more emphasis on economic class immigration" What the Bolded is saying is no matter your age or the amount of experience you have in your country employers here hardly value your international experience I'm not saying this happens to everyone but majority of people go through this problem. They go for interviews and because they view them as newcomers they offer them Minimum wage or the low compensation package. The bolded is actually a quote from an immigration writeup here in Canada and they are trying to bridge the gap. Canada is a lovely place and you should definitely come but be prepared when I say prepared I mean mentally. A lot of students struggle with the education system and realise wow "They thought me rubbish in Nigeria" and have to adapt to the new process, the whole Country itself is a "System" you either fall in place or get kicked out. I wish everyone a successful Transition into the Canadian culture. God bless and goodluck in your trv application and please note that this post us just to prepare your minds to bring that Unique Naija Hustle here and succeed 7 Likes |

seunmohmoh:It seems the financial side of this is the issue, if you have a good CGPA why don't you seek funding from universities or private study loan organizations in Nigeria. That way you only have to show proof of living expenses (10k) and other documents to back your application up. |

visionex:My critical advice for you will be to give your self a 12month plan. I'm that period; 1. Register your business 2. Get essential work related licence and all 3. Develop a business blueprint for immigration purpose 4. Get an admission letter for September 2020 5. Read up the thread or seek the advice of experts 6. Put everything in Gods hand and take your time to gather vibrant and legit supporting documents for your visa application. 1 Like 1 Share |

Francology41:It's called "DUAL INTENT" and can be done according to CIC subsection 22(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA). However, due to the whole ground of Nigerian applications and home ties and all coupled with our economic situation I don't believe a VO will make a logical decision rather view it as a way of leaving Nigeria without returning. Can you imagine stating in your sop that you'll return to take over your father's business and still applying for Express entry on the side? 1 Like |

emmy4Gold:This simply means proving to the VO that your proposed program will be of benefit in Nigeria, help advance your career technically and most importantly the cost of your proposed study is of a reasonable expense. |

badboy92:There isn't a direct way to prove this. This VOs have different personalities however gathering relevant documents and stating verifiable facts can help you out regarding proving to the VO the employment viability of your chosen profession in Nigeria |

emmy4Gold:The thing about EMPLOYMENT PROSPECT is that it's a reactive refusal clause which means the VO was not impressed with what you stated which means you need more than just a letter from your employer but rather a detailed explanation of your work industry, the future prospects and most importantly financial benefits in relations to getting employed in Canada and departing after your studies. |

Phatkings: Well I'm not a professional however; 1. You don't seem to have a reliable or solid employment base in Nigeria. 2. The Finance available was most likely lumpsum deposits that probably wasn't well explained. VOs hate that. 3. Did you provide any information linking your ties to your family or did you properly break down your brothers dependants and his history of assisting you financially? 4. The fact that you included your father's land documents might make the VO think your dad is also part of your sponsor the only difference here is you did not include his bank statements which appears confusing. Therefore who is the primary sponsor? Father or brother! 5. You have no sufficient proof that you've been employed or gained any relevant work skills since you graduated. I.e past employment letters, payslips, certificates etc.... Try and work on this before reapplying. 1 Like |

Sakasakas:This happens sometimes, especially with the fact that the applications received in August are fewer compared to other peak months. So the VO can easily scan through your application and make a quick decision. Most European countries take 3-14days to get a response/feedback. You need to evaluate your application in relation to the refusal stated and also was the refusal based on your September admission which might be too late in the first instance or January?.... Sorry about the refusal by the way evaluate and order your gcms note if necessary. |

AmadeusCho:I want to believe your question is trying to understand the best approach towards your study financing and Home ties. In relation to your question I'll provide you with a simple advice to guide you on your visa application process; 1. Regarding your financing, the Visa office will need to understand why your brother wants to sponsor you, financial aid history with you and most importantly his financial buoyancy in relation to the economic factors in the Country. I guess only you can make a clear and logical decision on that front. 2. Home ties, doesn't have to specifically be economical in nature. It could also be Social, relationship, family, investment factors and many more. Stating your brother will employ you might not be enough also the size of your brothers company and revenue status will also be a key indicator to your chances of returning home in the "eye of the Visa officer" in which I believe is going to be extremely difficult to proof. This approach is essential in avoiding refusals based on Purpose of visit, Personal assets and finances lastly home ties*. All the best |

A quick review of PURPOSE OF VISIT; I met a Kenyan lady that actually did her masters in international relations at Coventry university in UK and currently enrolled for a post baccalaureate program DIPLOMA in Marketing at Thompson rivers university. Now that's a direct transition from MSC to Diploma program for the Sol purpose of gaining business credits since she otherwise studied a pure Arts and humanity program. Always strive to look into the content and description of your designated programs and have a general academic objective for embarking. It's not enough to just state your dad/mum runs a business you want to fall back on or gain promotion. Please be advised. P.s: I have received tonnes of messages regarding Thompson rivers university and I will be answering soon. Kamloops is a small but great city to use as a transition to a bigger city in Canada. Cheers!!! 2 Likes |

Nobleman61:This is a case of poor job prospects and the poor economic situation in the country. Apparently the vo doesn't think the future job salary and all will compel her to come back to Nigeria. Also poor document compilation/expression and poor study plans was also a huge factor. I'll advice that your friend joins the thread to get more tips. She also needs to work on presenting a compelling proof on why Shell return back home to take the job. P.s: if the job isn't a government agency or family business then it's a waste of time really. All the best to her. |

Okusi:Sorry about your refusal your purpose of visit refusal most likely came from the inability to link the proposed program to your past education experience or a poor/vague SOP. Also you most likely failed to establish your family composition in Nigeria and how well grounded they are in your home country(Nigeria). Minor tweaks in your next application can Land you your study visa approval. All the best.... 1 Like |

Babarinde146:purpose of visit refusals can be tricky and sometimes can be linked with various clauses. The most popular reasons for purpose of visit refusal are down to: 1. Incoherent, poor and Vague Study plans (SOP) 2. Applying for a program that could otherwise be done locally in Nigeria. 3. VO not convinced the proposed program is of a reasonable expense. 4. Applying for a program under the same credential as your last qualification. I.e applying for another msc program or bsc program. 5. Applying for a program otherwise lower than what your previous credential qualifies you to apply for. Sometimes it's possible to get away with it but different VOs with different evaluations. 6. Applying for a program that doesn't correlate with previous work experience and education credentials. Etc.... POV refusals are tricky and can otherwise be broad. Pinpointing the exact clause is important in reapplying. 1 Like |

Good Morning everyone, I bring you glad tidings from Canada. As usual the atmosphere on this forum blows hot and cold. Regardless of the tense feelings and pressure I believe everything will be fine. I'd like to encourage the newbies that the protocol remains the same scan through the previous threads and if you still have questions ask politely. Also to all the applicants that's been temporarily delayed order for GCMS notes and approach the next application with a lot of diligence and patience. Lastly, to all the applicants that as been approved I wish you all a safe journey. 5 Likes |
