Prisscindy: Hi guys, I want to ask a question, i have a friend who got rejected for a study permit and wants to reapply. But instead of an SOP, he wants to submit a review from a lawyer, addressing the grounds for rejection. Is that enough or he should add an SOP? Lawyer? Sorry there isn't any grounds for that. What he needs is to review his refusal grounds order a gcms note and work on it. |

A few of my success stories and testimonies:
I first applied for a study visa to Canada in April 2018 and was refused June same year with Purpose of Visit. Second Application was in Feb 2019 and was refused the same month with Purpose of visit and travel history.
In both cases, I used the services of an agent and I applied with the M.eng (One year course based) admission letter Shortly before my second application, I contacted Frankrobbn to assist proofread my SOP. Despite his kind assistance then with every effort put in place, I was still delayed. Then after my second refusal, I contacted Bracha who encouraged me not to give up and assisted with part of my SOP correction.
Sometimes in Jan this year, I had thought of switching from the Meng to Msc but getting supervisor was the issue. After a series of emails with usual "no funding, no space" responses, God finally came through for me and that marks the turning point in my Canada journey. I got a Prof willing to supervise me and provided the Stipend that fully covers my study around April and then I decided to reapply for the 3rd time in May 2019.
This time around,Qudkom came to my rescue. We talk extensively, exchange emails and I had to even travel to a neighboring city to meet this wonderful and kind guy that I didn't know from anywhere just to ensure I get it right this time. Anyway, no more agent as I am prepared to take all the advice of the gurus to do it by myself.
Few days to my submission date, I had to literally go through all of Franks past post to ensure all my T's have been crossed and I's dotted.
My special appreciation thus goes to Frankrobbn, Bracha and Qudkom who positively influenced my application in a way or the other Every other guru: Makano, Justmellow and so many Monikers I may not mention. God bless your selfless efforts on this thread.
I need to also mention that I am advanced in age and I have never traveled outside Nigeria before and I also graduated university in 2006 with about 11 years working experience. Married with 2 kids but I decided to apply alone first. This is to encourage someone not to really give up.
Nevertheless all human efforts, IT IS NOT OF HIM THAT WILLS, NOR OF HIM WHO RUNS, BUT OF GOD WHO SHOWS MERCY....
More Success stories to every applicant awaiting feedback from Schools or the Embassy!!! Congratulations again brother. |

TheAfrikan: Goodmorning,
Please could you elaborate on the bolded. What sort of cons can one aspect?
Thank you. 1. You start paying for accommodation pretty early. 2. You might be questioned especially if you haven't traveled before 3. Most students come in August so getting people to go house hunting with might be a concern because obviously the people here are already settled so you have to get a place for yourself alone 4. You don't have some benefits like bus pass since you haven't registered at school and classes haven't started yet. So getting a bus pass which might be expensive may be the best. 5. I hear it's inappropriate to work before your program starts also. Etc.... |

Juleskiki: Long Post Alert.... Wow, I crafted this testimony a long time ago to inspire someone. My admission process was not an easy one, but when it was time God showed up. I applied to 2 schools late last year against fall 2019. By March 2019 they both sent me a refusal letter. I felt really bad, after the whole struggle of getting a supervisor and all. So I started looking for another supervisor, luckily one got back to me and after the interview and all. He offered me a spot in his lab. And in less than 3 weeks I was admitted with full funding.

Jadezion: Please which the fastest way to get A GCMS note....nid to reapply
Reason for refusal
Purpose of visit
Pls hlp wit a sampl of strong SOP It takes 40days max to get a gcms note. It is important to understand the exact purpose of visit refusal you got. P.s: A citizen of canada can get the gcms note for you also and that is why most gcms websites require you to fill a consent form.so if you know someone there the process might be faster to get. |

DEALING WITH PURPOSE OF VISIT (POV)
Sad to hear about the recent refusals based solely on purpose of visit. However Purpose of visit refusals can be tricky and sometimes can be linked with various clauses. The most popular reasons for purpose of visit refusal are down to:
1. Incoherent, poor and Vague Study plans (SOP)
2. Applying for a program that could otherwise be done locally in Nigeria.
3. VO not convinced the proposed program is of a reasonable expense.
4. Applying for a program under the same credential as your last qualification. I.e applying for another msc program or bsc program.
5. Applying for a program otherwise lower than what your previous credential qualifies you to apply for. Sometimes it's possible to get away with it but different VOs with different evaluations.
6. Applying for a program that doesn't correlate with previous work experience and education credentials. Etc....
POV refusals are tricky and can otherwise be broad. Pinpointing the exact clause is important in reapplying. |

Obehi44: House, the refusal came again 2nd time. First time was personal assets and financial status but now they say it's "purpose of visit" Yesterday I mentioned a few monikers that got this bvl same time as mine came in, today I can see two out of those monikers coming to say they have been refused this evening just as I got mine this evening too. All same reason "purpose of visit" I can almost conclude that it was same VO that dished was in charged. Him just de bomb people email and Cic account with same reasons. If these people have limits of people they give visa to per a period, they should just say rather than letting us go through stress and keep paying application fee. Anyway, I will other for the gcms again, defer admission and refire again. @Franck please my dear, can I have a one on one? Just want to ask one question please. Thanks. Matter of fact I know 3 people that got the same refusal. "Purpose of visit" and it all came this evening (5th of july). But non the less you are close just a few steps. |

Obehi44: I have asked this question and I can see a couple of moniker asking same but no response from anyone yet. Those of you who are already in Canada or already got your approval, is there anyone who had ever gotten a BVL without medical passed or request and still got the medical passed or request msg? And got approved? @Jadezion @Chinma13 @AA07 and myself all got BVL today or so and will like to know. Anyway, Na God get power Las las.... Hello dear, you know the recent trend regarding BVL especially without medical request/passed. I wish I could tell you something to comfort you but cic is extremely unpredictable and it most likely a refusal. But fingers crossed anything can happen. I have seen a case of a man that just got refused in the usa embassy just when he was about stepping out they called him back and approved his visa. Regardless if it doesn't work out you can always try again. Don't loose faith.... by the way what does your background check read? |

judecares1: accountant So I need you to explain the relationship between accountancy and the supposed refugee seminar. I think you and I both know there isn't a link. A VO will most likely view it as a desperate attempt to immigrate to Canada via the tourist/visit visa. Applicant: Accountant Purpose of Visit To attend seminar on refugee.... There isn't any correlation bro. |

jessyeve: Please has anyone gotten approval with just inlaw bank statement, already paid first semester fees and it's one year program, I'm 28 yrs What you are about to carry out is the use of a 3rd party sponsor. It is not enough to make us of an individuals financial portfolio simply because they have "cash". You have to carefully provide documents to proof your relationship with them and also they need to show commitment to your studies. Lastly, VOs sometimes frown at one year programs, they sometimes believe applicants use them to immigrate to canada especially if you have limited travel history. |
