codebase: Even if all the Northerners were Muslims and they all smoke weed, that wont still justify anything. There is a clear difference between Islam and Muslim. What is Islam says is one and what the Muslims do is another. Nobody is perfect everybody has one shortcoming or the other but in Islam actions of Muslims is not a justification of the validity of their actions in and of itself. Only the Prophet's action and the actions of majority of his companions can be evidence in and of itself. I'll take you up on this another day. How does Mohammed and allah forbid drinking yet he promises you folks rivers and rivers of liquor in paradise? now I remember,he'll be serving Ribena and Ava grape juice LOL |

codebase: This hadith of the prophet serves as evidence against those who may want to take the position of the Christian, which says that what is prohibited is taking alcohol excessively The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whatever intoxicates in large quantities, then a small quantity of it is forbidden.” [Sunan al-Tirmidhî (1865), Sunan Abî Dâwûd (3681), Sunan al-Nasâ’î (5607), Sunan Ibn Mâjah (3392), and Musnad Ahmad (5648)]
So this means that if a substance exists such that taking a bottle full of it intoxicates then taking a spoon full of it will also be haraam according to the more correct opinion. Most committed Christians don't drink anyways. The Bible holds us to higher standards by virtue of convictions. because in as much as the scriptures talks of not drinking to excess,it also talks of abtaining from appearances of evil and not doing things to cause others to speak evil of our faith.I for instance have never drunk alcohol in my life and neither does my husband. The question here is ,can a Muslim work in a brewery? |

Mustay: Queenisha.
Did you investigate every 'northern smoker' to confirm his/her religion status?
I've seen some who are Muslims who smoke but the truth is, most of them know not that it is haram.
When we usually use the word alcohol usually we mean Ethyle alcohol. There are useful other uses of alcohol. Islam forbids the drinking because that is harmful for us. Questions like this are very annoying. How many Kano indigenes are Christians? Northerners who are majority muslim smoke heavily. That is a fact. The first time I ever saw grandmothers smoking was in northern Nigeria and they did it outside where anyone could see |

Kobojunkie: Anyone who goes abroad and gets disappointed is someone who should never have been allowed out of Nigeria in the first place. Jeeezz!!! There are so many successful people out here in the west who had practically no options back in Nigeria but have taken advantage of the many opportunities made available to them out here. As long as you are willing to work and have a dream, you should be able to get yourself well set up abroad.
There has always been tons of opportunities to excel in Nigeria but the problem is the system seems to work against you down there and so the government should focus on rectifying that situation. People will not have to be told to come back when that happens as it automatically happens. Government should focus on doing it's job and doing it well.
"WHEN YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME" I agree for the most part. This is indeed a land of opportunities. Doesn't come easy but hardwork here pays |

In Nigeria, the northerners who are a large Muslim group smoke like chimneys. From the 10 year old almajiris to the 80 year old women with no teeth. There is no group in Nigeria that smokes as much as they do Alcoholism is also their stock in trade. I lived a while up north. There were also breweries in northern Nigeria. |

Crime › Robbers Strike At Yaradua's Family Home by Queenisha(op): 4:02pm On Aug 20, 2008 |
Yar’Adua’s mum robbed From JACOB EDI, Abuja Tuesday, August 19, 2008 Burglars from hell took caution to the wind before dawn on Monday as they broke into the family house of President Yar’Adua in Katsina and robbed his ageing mother, Hajiya Dada Yar’Adua in her bedroom. Daily Sun learnt that the robbers beat the security around the house to have access to the room where the about 80-year-old mother of the president was sleeping through the air conditioner opening. The president’s mum reportedly did not wake up during the operation, as she was believed to have been hypnotized. A source in Katsina told Daily Sun that Hajiya Yar’Adua only woke up to find that her room was in disorder and some of her jewelries had been removed. The source, however, said the thieves were unable to unscramble the safe in the room to have access to its contents. It was gathered that as early as 5 a.m. during the Muslim early morning Subhi prayers, the president’s younger brother, Alhaji Jafaru had reportedly been informed by his mother about the incident. He in turn went to one of the president’s sisters, Hajiya Hadi, to alert her to the development. It could not be ascertained at press time whether the president had been informed, but it was gathered that the modest family house in Katsina, where the robbery took place was agog with family members and neighbours who were on hand to show their sympathies. Monday’s incident has further raised questions about insecurity in the country where robbers walk easily into the bedroom of the mother of the president, even as there had been reported cases of politically-motivated killings in the state. It was gathered that just last week, chairman of a local government in the state was killed and his body dumped on the street, just as Muktari Kakumi, assistant director, media, Katsina Agriculture and Rural Development Authority (KTARDA) was reportedly murdered in cold blood recently.
