African Under-23 champions Nigeria have been seeded in the second pot for the draws of the men's football event of the 2016 Rio Olympics.


The Dream Team, winners of the gold medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, have Korea Republic, Honduras, Iraq in the same pot.

The seeding was done based on a cumulative matrix of how each country has performed in the football event in the last five editions.
Hosts Brazil are in Pot 1 alongside Mexico, Japan, and South America neighbours Argentina.


Fifa also seeded Africa’s representatives South Africa in Pot 3 while Algeria are in Pot 4.

This applies when you foretell the future issuing a new revelation, like when Jonah said Nineveh will be destroyed or when Noah said there is going to be a flood. These are new revelations given to these prophets to tell others. But when you search the scriptures and try to understand explain or determine the occurrence of an event as a bible student and you come a conclusion based on your study that is no prophesy. You are not prophesying.
About the time of Jesus Birth, there was a lot of speculations about the coming of the messiah, based on prophesies in the scriptures a lot of God's people have determined that they were at a period in which the messiah would appear, a lot got the year wrong. Some even thought 'the prophet' and 'christ' were different people. Based on these prophesies a lot of them including Jesus Apostles thought he was going to deliver them from the Romans and usher in God's Kingdom immediately. This was their understanding of Bible prophesies because they got it wrong does not make them false prophets.
Based on Jesus statement about John that he would remain until his coming, all the apostles believed John was never going to die, but they were wrong. Does that make them false prophets. Even after Jesus Died the two disciples he met on the road believed he would liberate the Israelite before his death, these are people Jesus has been with for 3 years and explained a lot of things to, but they still had erroneous beliefs. John the Baptist while in prison, despite hearing God's word from heaven, still asked Jesus if he was the one coming or should they expect someone else. This does not make him a false prophet. They all made wrong deductions of Bible prophesies and statements.
Same as witnesses, we have never given any prophesy, repeat no prophetic revelation has been made by Witnesses, what has been is the interpretation of prophesies and what they mean.

Moses was God's spokeman's but he spoke out of turn, so did Aaron, Miriam, Jonah, etc that does not make them false.

This is referring to biblical prophesies about the last days or time of the end. There are several prophesies in the bible concerning the last days, end of time and these are the prophesies being referred to that we are awaiting their fulfilments.

i studied those books, you cant claim to know them as much as i do. There was no prophesy statement, no inspired prophesy ever uttered in those books. The books are a verse by verse attempts at explaining and understanding these prophetic books. Mention one statement in any of those books which was a revelation or a new prophesy.

If a group of xtians claim to be a prophet of God, how is that strange.
In the Christian fold everybody claimed to be sent by God. Tell me one that says he is not sent by God to do what he is doing, we have apostle a, prophet b, reverend c, man of God d. In many sermons, some have claimed to be in a meeting with God, and 'daddy told me that' bla bla. They claim, we too claim shikena.

A prophet does not necessarily have to issue prophetic statements of the future, like foretelling the future. The meaning of the word is spokesman. Abraham was called a prophet but never foretell the future, Aaron was one too but he only relayed Moses messages.

The witnesses never prophesied in the sense of foretelling the future but they studied the scriptures diligently and continously to discern God's message as already written in the scriptures and then relay it. In that sense they are spokesman, it is different from someone who sleeps and wakes up and say he has received a revelation that God would destroy the world next week. This is a totally, new and inspired revelation is claiming. When it fails he has become a fake prophet meaning he was given no new revelation from God. Witnesses are never such prophets. We have never claimed to receive new revelations previously not contained in the Bible. We are just Bible students and what speak out what we have learnt.

In the study it is understandable that you may fully comprehend some things, you may even get some wrong but you don't stop. You try as much as possible to get as much truths as you can get and live by it..
The law covenant was given by God but it was not perfect but it was the way to God by all who live at that time. It served it's purpose, but it was not perfect.

Now talking about saying that others are false. Let me start by saying all others have also called us false. Those jwfacts stuff you quote were mostly issues thrown up by religious leaders who say Russell is a false preacher, they even went into his business and private life to discredit him. Most xtians in other churches believe we false, in fact we are the number one false church to all of them, we are not even Christians to them. Their pastors believe so and say so and so do the followers.
So why can't we also say others are false too and speak against such falsehood without turning it into a roforofo fight like they do..

But I copy and paste from grundy's website because its accurate, honest and shows both sides of the story compared to jw.org, although its highly critical of JW's, besides I admire him a lot that's why I adopted his name as my nairaland monicker.

I personally have a strong hatred for lies and all manner of falsehoods right from when I was small, sometimes I feel that I am called to the ministry to attacking all manner of falsehoods. In my church I was barred from moderating any segment in church because I spoke against tithing and exposed how pastors use unbiblical methods to raise money. I have written against so many falsehoods not just in JW but also against Islam and mormons but my articles have been deleted and I was even barred once, except for my JW articles. I don't believe that denomination is the way to salvation, but denominational people can be saved.

You took the moniker of someone who wrote entirely against the witnesses, you wrote many articles and threads denouncing falsehoods but only the ones against witnesses are not deleted.

The Divine Name Brochure p.10, by the Watchtower Society states:

So these snippets of yours are just not enough. Your jwfacts are most times not factual. So don't quote them like they are some Bible.

Now about God's name and not just God's name alone all Hebrew names are written without the verbs, just the consonants are written, but speakers or readers fill in the gap as the read because they know the names.

But because of Jewish superstitions, they stopped pronouncing God's name. So the actual way it should be pronounced may not be absolutely definitive as you also mentioned.

So why would you categorically state that his name is Yahweh, we're you there. Yahweh is just another possible way it could have been pronounced.

So from abnitio witnesses have said no one can be absolutely sure how to pronounce it, so what's your grouse. If you prefer Yahweh, fine and good and if you want to put your own vowels into those consonants go ahead and do it. Witnesses never said Yahweh is wrong, they only gave reasons for preferring to use Jehovah. So what bones are you still picking over that.

Now why stick with Jehovah. What do you think these hebrew names are linked to, jehoshaphat, jehu, jehoash, Elijah, abijah, jehoshua/Joshua, jeshaiah and finally Jesus. Do you know the meaning of those names. They are all derivatives of the name Jehovah. Jesus name in Hebrew is actually yeshua or yehoshua which is the same with Joshua.

So if you prefer Yahweh, will you start calling Jesus yeshua too, what about jehoshua, Elijah, jehoshaphat, Jeremiah, abijah, jahzeiah, jehoahaz jehoachin jehoiada jehonadab. What will you do with jehonathan popularly known as Jonathan. These are all names gotten from Jehovah. Well you could start saying Goodluck Yonathan and let's see how far you get.

Now saying you have a grouse with using God's name in the new testament is sheer ignorance. The verses where the NWT puts God's name in the new testament are places where the writers quoted from the old testament and if you check the verses in the old testament God's name was there but was wrongly removed by copysts. We know the original Bible writers of the new testament while quoting the old testament would not have taken out the name. So it's not a case of undermining the integrity of the scriptures, it is about removing superstitious errors of copysts thereby assuring it's integrity.

Lastly even though we are very much proudly associated with the name, it has been used in many bibles before ours, it is still used by many now, and insha Allah the name would be more in use despite enemies efforts to bury it as Jesus said 'I have made your name manifest to the men you gave me'.

The Man That Refused to Die

Many a people have died from just a punch, some a little trip and they leave this mortal coil. But here is a man who was marked out to die, but refused to die after several attempts. He Eventually was killed but his ability to survive repeated onslaughts is worthy of note.

I present the Irish Rasputin: Mike Malloy

The events that led to Malloy's death began in January 1933. He was, at the time, alcoholic and homeless after falling on hard times.

Five men who were acquainted with Malloy – Tony Marino, Joseph "Red" Murphy, Francis Pasqua, Hershey Green, and Daniel Kriesberg (later dubbed "the Murder Trust" by the headlines) – plotted to take out three life insurance policies on Malloy and then get him to drink himself to death.



Mike looked an easy mark. He was, wrote the Daily Mirror, after the case, just part of the “flotsam and jetsam in the swift current of underworld speakeasy life, those no-longer-responsible derelicts who stumble through the last days of their lives in a continual haze of ‘Bowery Smoke.’”

“Why don’t you take out insurance on Malloy?”, Pasqua asked Marino one day, according to another contemporary newspaper report. “I can take care of the rest.”

Marino paused. Pasqua knew he’d pulled off such a scheme once before

The prior year, Marino, 27, had befriended a homeless woman named Mabelle Carson and convinced her to take out a $2,000 life insurance policy, naming him as the beneficiary.

One frigid night he force-fed her alcohol, stripped off her clothing, doused the sheets and mattress with ice water, and pushed the bed beneath an open window. The medical examiner listed the cause of death as bronchial pneumonia, and Marino collected the money without incident.

Marino figured Mike Malloy, who looked about 60, though he was a decade younger and in terrible shape, would go easy. He nodded and motioned to Malloy. “He looks all in. He ain’t got much longer to go anyhow. The stuff is gettin’ him.”

They agreed to go ahead. They began backslapping Malloy and gave him free drinks. Malloy, accustomed to getting the bum's rush because of his lack of funds, was so thrilled that he eagerly signed a petition that would help elect Marino for local office.

What he actually signed was an insurance policy from Metropolitan Life, and two from Prudential. The gang even provided Malloy with a crash pad in the back of the bar to sleep off his hangovers.

Little did they know just how tough Mike was. When it came to survival he could match Rasputin, the Russian monk whose enemies needed many attempts before they finally succeeded in killing him. The first part of the Mike Malloy plot was successful (probably achieved with the aid of a corrupt insurance agent), and they stood to gain over $3,500 (more than $65,000 by 2015’s standards by the CPI) if Malloy died an accidental death.

Marino owned a speakeasy and gave Malloy unlimited credit, thinking Malloy would abuse it and drink himself to death. Although Malloy drank for a majority of his waking day, it did not kill him. To remedy this, antifreeze was substituted for liquor, but still, Malloy would drink until he passed out, wake up, and come back for more. Antifreeze was substituted with turpentine, followed by horse liniment, and finally mixed in rat poison. Still, Malloy lived.

The group then tried raw oysters soaked in wood alcohol. This idea apparently came from Pasqua, who saw a man die after eating oysters with whiskey.] Then came a sandwich of spoiled sardines mixed with poison and carpet tacks.

When that failed, they decided that it was unlikely that anything Malloy ingested was going to kill him, so the Murder Trust decided to freeze him to death. On a night when the temperature reached −14 °F (−26 °C), Malloy drank until he passed out, was carried to a park, dumped in the snow, and had five gallons of water poured on his bare chest. Nevertheless, Malloy reappeared the following day for his drink. The next attempt on his life came when they hit him with a car, They bribed a taxi driver Harry Green $150 to hit him. The murder syndicate got him drunk and propped him up as Harry Green revved his taxi up. At the last second they were to jump aside and the car was supposed to knock him over.

Molloy, though drunk, avoided the first two efforts to run him down. On the third attempt, according to Smithsonian Magazine, “Green raced toward Malloy at 50 miles per hour. With every second Malloy loomed larger through the windshield. Two thuds, one loud and one soft, the body against the hood and then dropping to the ground. For good measure, Green backed up over him. The gang was confident Malloy was dead, but a passing car scared them from the scene before they could confirm.”

Five days later, with no reports or death notices for Molloy the gang began to fear the worst. Sure enough the door to Marino’s speakeasy swung open and in limped a battered, bandaged Michael Malloy, looking only slightly worse for wear

The gang finally had enough. On February 22, after he passed out for the night, they took him to Murphy's room, put a hose in his mouth that was connected to the gas jet, and turned it on. This finally killed Malloy, death occurring within an hour.

He was pronounced dead of lobar pneumonia by a bribed doctor and quickly buried. Despite this, the Murder Trust failed to divide the collected loot evenly and fought over it .Eventually police heard rumors of Rasputin Mike in speakeasies all over town, and upon learning that a Michael Malloy had died that night, they had the body exhumed and forensically examined.

The five men were put on trial. Green went to prison, and the other four members were executed in the electric chair at Sing Sing. Unlike Mike none survived.

Malloy's death made history. It was featured in "The Poisoner's Handbook" as one of the first cases investigated by the then newly established New York City Medical Examiner's Office under the pioneering Dr. Charles Norris.

The Toughest Football Players In Nigeria History

How tough were players like Christian Chukwu, Muda Lawal, Godwin Odiye…? Well, you must be physically and mentally strong to play football in Nigeria during the 60s’ and 70s.’ The game is all about ‘kick and follow.’ Hard tackles, head boots and physical struggles were just normal part of the game before the introduction of FIFA Fair Play.




But I want us to look at some players well known for their hardness, those players that share the reputation of the toughest footballers in Nigerian history.


1 Taribo West is one of the toughest central defenders in the world; in the likes of Terry Butcher of England. Although, West became a Pastor towards the later part of his career at Inter Milan, but he was one player who was ready to die in field of play.

With his unique horn hair style, West hard tackle and air battle sent many players off the game for several months. West himself get cut into the injury gushing his own blood in several matches played for club and country.
Playing at Inter Milan at the UEFA Cup, West got elbowed on his forehead and was bleeding furiously, but refused to be substituted.

In another occasion, he threw his jersey on the coach’s face for substituting him – that was the passion and fury with which West approached every game.

West had a professional career which started with Julius Berger FC in Nigeria, before he went to Auxerre in France, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Derby County and retired at Paykan FC in Iran. West made 41 appearances for the Nigeria national team from 1994 to 2002 and he played both in the 1998 and 2002 FIFA world cup.


2. Bright Omokaro, popularly known as ‘Ten-ten ,’ is perhaps the hardest player in Nigeria football history. Omokaro who played at the right full back most of his career, got a notorious reputation with his partner, Sunday Eboiegbe, as ‘the destroyers.’

Omokaro got his nickname ‘ten-ten’ at Maroc 88’ nation’s cup match against Algeria. Ademola Adeshina was given a red card and the Nigeria team was reduced to ten players. So the coach then, Manfred Hoener said to Omokaro, “You know you play hard, now use it to our advantage.” On getting in, Omokaro went hard on one of the Algerian player and he was stretched off the field and couldn’t be substituted. So on the commentary box, Late Ernest Okonkwo screamed, “Omokaro has made it ten-ten.” And the next day it became newspapers headline.

Omokaro professional career span for over 12 years and he played for Bendel Insurance, Asec Mimosa, ACB, Abiola babes, NNB and ended his career with 3sc in 1996. Omokaro won Nigeria National Division one league with NNB as well as WAFU cup, Then CAF Cup with 3sc. Omokaro made over 43 appearances for the Nigeria national team and played in two CAF Nation’s cup.

3. Sunday Eboigbe, known as one of ‘the destroyers’ and the second, Bright Omokaro, both played with Bendel Insurance, NNB and the Nigeria National team between 1982 – 1993. Most outside right or attacking midfielders get knocked off the pitch by the traps deliberately set by Eboigbe and Omokaro.

Eboigbe, a towering 6.6 ft tall central defender easily sweeps off the feet of any opponent with his very dangerous tackles that made him one of the toughest footballers in Nigeria history. With Eboigbe’s fierce look and gigantic approach
when running towards an opponent forces the player to lose the ball and run for his dear life.
Eboigbe made over 58 appearances for the Nigeria national team. He won the Nigeria National division one league with NNB as well as WAFU cup. He also won Nigeria professional league with Iwuanyanwu Nationale.

I met a Ghanaian man in sierra leone and he mentioned the initial deportation of Nigerians from Ghana. He said a lot of Nigerians deported were successful businessmen, many ogbomosho people easily recognized with their tribal marks. He said he lost a lot of classmates whose parents were sent packing from Ghana and many Ghanaian took over their homes.

Many Nigerians living in Ghana before the deportation had been their for decades and were doing very well, they did not go because of any economic deprivations.

Most Ghanaians have conveniently forgotten this, re-hashing the story of their own deportation from Nigeria, even in Ghana they sell those bags as 'ghana must go' . Cant they give it a different name, children yet to be born would keep asking why the bag is named like that, so the animosity persists.
