N282,255 is the maximum it will cost you to have it done properly as should come with at least a 6 month warranty. Once it goes over three months, you are okay for years. The alternative is to replace the engine but I have no idea what engines cost in Nigeria. Ours are definitely expensive because they are factory remans.

I have gone through the thread from the beginning to the end and am impressed with the level of discuss, but would like both of you give more details as regards your diagnosis .

The rav 4 has misfired in all its cylinders and it's gasket , pistons has worn out, timing chain issues, cracks due to over heating on the engine, engine oil noticed on plugs etc.

Lol at free diagnosis. Considering diagnosis is free with repair from us, I'll give you one answer here. Anything more in depth we'll need to see the car despite your description.

I don't know how much the engine itself would cost but the labor takes 16.4 hours for a 4 cylinder and 23.9 for a 6 cylinder from beginning to end i.e. dropping the old one, putting in the new one, reconnecting to all systems and testing.

Now that I understand what you're asking, no one can quote transmission repair accurately without taking apart the actual transmission in question. They can only quote you replacement.

To replace this transmission takes 9.2 hours x labor rate (which in this case would be N46,000).

I can't quote you for the replacement transmission assembly itself since we are not importing those yet.

A rack and pinion with 1 year warranty from Carquest is N124,100 so don't pay more than that. I'm sure you could find cheaper. We already gave you cost for labor so Max you should pay for the whole replacement is N139,100 parts and labor.

With what I have learned from Siena and EgunMogaji I think replacing the corolla engine is the feasible thing to do.

Rebuilding engine is more than throwing in a crank shaft, pistons assembly and oil pump. Is there a necessary tool to checkmate engine block spec, piston head positioning etc. Coupled with importing to the smallest head bolt and waiting time for delivery.

Since it's not a Auston Martin, McLaren F1 or a Nissan gtr godzilla replace the damn engine.

If the customer dash you the engine and you rebuild and put in open market for sale the same guys shouting rebuild when you tell them price and condition of engine them go carry their 1 and half K-leg run go buy tokunbo

1) The 15k was for a direct Belgium.

Check your front end thoroughly again especially control arm bushings before you replace again. Also, try a different brand. You already changed your mounts. Recheck all the bushings on your front end.
