Lolz... I've read that comment before. Still doesn't refute the fact that atheists are on an average more intelligent than Christians. It only says that atheism doesn't cause intelligence but intelligence causes atheism. That is, intelligent people are more likely to be atheists. Which I agree with... I never even said atheism causes intelligence but there's definitely a correlation

Speaking of the brain : do you know that greater levels of atheism resulted when the posterior medial frontal cortex which is responsible for logical thinking and reasoning was frazzled ? It actually shows that atheism is as a result of impulses which are caused by the activities in the low road . Same happens when one is distressed or bored or is overwhelmed by stress . When the body is stressed , the brain secretes cortisol to prepare it for crises , plus neropinephrine and at high levels these stress hormones can interfere with the smooth operation of thoughts and reasoning .This then enhances the function of the amygdala and debilitates the prefrontal areas . That means the high road (pre frontal areas ) which is quite slow but accurate , wary and observant will work at a much slower rate - eliciting irrational and illogical thoughts or impulsive decisions .

Little wonder atheists are not good at logical thinking , its all emotions .

1. A universe coming from utter nothingness (Idiotic)
2. The universe creating itself : X creates X (logical absurdity)
3. Infinite universes just to explain why our universe is fine tuned for life
4. Infinite regress of causes which is another impossibility
5. Appreciation of Artificial Intelligence as intelligent design ;repudiation of super complex life and universe as intelligent design

There are so many other illogical reasons atheists give to explain away God .

Scientists are more likely to become atheists than other groups of people. Same for philosophers. In fact the percentage of Christians in science is reducing...
Studies have shown that atheists are on an average more intelligent than Christians. So u mentioning some smart people who are our became Christians doesn't change the fact that the statistical evidence is in favor of atheists being more intelligent.

... U didn't reply to my first comment. And yes an 800 million addition purely facilitated by an unhealthy birthrate is no achievement. In fact, it's a pity that only 40 million converts will be made while 106 million will leave the religion. So when it comes to actual conversion rates, Christianity will actually have a deficit.
This is the kind of news that will have made me sad some months ago but thanks to nairaland, am just mildly pleased

Nice try... Funny the link u posted doesn't consider the demographics of developed countries. Religion is growing because the religious countries are underdeveloped hence they have very high birth rates i.e. they give birth like chickens. The actual amount of converts for religion is small. That's the same rationale behind Islam being the fastest growing religion in the world but check the countries with the highest standards of living, they generally have significant percentage of atheists and irreligious people.
