Food › Re: Many Nigerians Can No Longer Afford Beer by Raylight2(m): 11:33am On Feb 23, 2024 |
DyshApp: The Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Hans Essaadi, has said that the economic situation in Nigeria has deteriorated to the extent that citizens can no longer afford to buy beer.
Essaadi said this on Monday at the company's investor call following the release of its 2023 results.
"It has been an unprecedented year for our business in Nigeria. We saw a significant decline in the mainstream lager market as a result of Nigerian consumers no longer able to afford a Goldberg after a hard day's work," Bloomberg quoted Essaadi as saying.
NB suffered an #153bn foreign exchange loss due to the devaluation of the naira for the year ended December 2023.
For the period under review, the company grew its revenue by 8.9 per cent to #599.64bn from #550.64bn. Net finance expense rose significantly by 449.7 per cent to N189.19bn, dragging the brewer to a loss of #106.31bn from a gain of N13.19bn at the end of 2022.
👉 Dyshus They should redirect the money to taking care of their families. Government should make it more expensive. Add tax. |

Travel › Re: I Have Never Been To An Airport by Raylight2(m): 10:49am On Feb 23, 2024 |
DiamondJLove: I am in my late twenties. It seems strange that I have never visited an airport. Sometimes i feel ashamed and never talk about it with anybody.
I don't know if it's due to too much responsibilities on me. Who is in the same boat with me? How do you cope when people talk about visiting an airport? Do you pretend as if u have visited an airport? Do you say the truth and let people mock you? If you are ashamed of not having been to an airport, what'll you do when people start talking about traveling by air. There's no big deal bro. You aim should not be going to the airport but traveling on a plane and you could work towards that. If you want it so badly enough, you'll get it. Most times , when you even accompany someone to the airport, you're not allowed beyond the barricade at the Lagos international airport. So no big deal. However, traveling by plane is an awesome experience I think you should have. My first flight experience, I didn't plan it. I saw a scholarship, I applied, it came through with free flight. So try. |

At this point, we can say this is a confused and clueless, trial and error administration.
Instead of retracing their steps back and find out where things started going south, they keep doing trial and error.
Binance/cryptocurrency was there when Jonathan was president.
One thing they don't know is that in the present world, they can't completely block it. When they stopped us from spending more than $20 in a month, were we not still spending over $500. P2P came fully implemented. There's always a way. Technology evolves. They should try to block it if they can. |

successmatters: That's bad
If you didn't help this business man to subsidize his purchases and expenses, if you didn't give him the capital to set up or to operate, you have no rights to force him to sell at a particular price.
But this will always backfire, as more owners lock up or transfer their goods, or go underground, the goods will enter black market, and everyone who really needs it will pay triple the cost, at the point of death.
Buharri tried that in 1984, someone should please remind me how that matter ended?
Allow free market economy to dictate prices. They failed to update their prices on display. It's their fault. |

Health › Re: Why The Current Heat Wave Is Very Deadly by Raylight2(m): 9:42pm On Feb 15, 2024 |
nightfox01: I just read about wet bulb temperatures in tropical regions of the world during this hot period and I learned something a wet bulb temperature is a phenomenon where the temperature is high and the humidity is also high which means when we sweat our bodies cannot cool because sweat cools us when our bodies overheat.
So that means that the moisture content in the air is high so when we sweat our sweat cannot cool us down so you sweat more and dehydrate faster and that can lead to kidney failure heatwaves like this do not kill immediately protracted nighttime stretches of 35°C can cause several health problems
Dry heat like in harmattan periods are different because the moisture content in the air is low meaning your body sweats and cools easier and faster than wet bulb temperatures
The current heat in naija is around 35°C and humidity is high and to be honest sleeping feels like being cooked in hot steam
My fellow nairalanders I bring you this info as I am here thinking of sleeping on the roof please does anyone know if mosquitoes can fly to the roof of a 5 storey building They won't know you are there. It's safe up there . Bring us report from the roof top tomorrow morning. |

This won't just provide adequate, sustainable and uninterrupted power supply to many capable states of the federation thereby helping the productivity of those states economy but also be a huge source of IGR as well as the reduction in the rate of such states unemployment.
