bigfrancis21:I just asked a prominent Nsukka man well-versed in his people's history about this Onyishi claim and he told me the title has nothing to do with Nri at all, which agrees with what i know about the title - Onyishi simply means headman; I am in Nsukka right now as I type. He also told me his people call Nri Nshi; never Ishi. There are deities in Nsukka that were introduced from Nri, e.g., Ezoguda. And there are lineages in Nsukka area that came from Nri. But to call Nsukka an offshoot of Nri is just not correct. Igbo settlement in Nsukka is very old, one of the oldest in the entire Igboland. |
Only do this in a country where people have sense. If you do this in Nigeria, that student will keep showing up to class with his baby, and a couple of other students will even start turning up with their babies because "Our professor is cool with it." |
goalernestman:See, I have little patience for idiots. Me and one other guy supplied you with the names of the first five Eze Nris of Agukwu. You reappeared and continued asking the same silly question. Don't be unfortunate this afternoon. |
Probz:But this is not true. Especially for Nsukka. Nnebisi founder of Asaba was materially from Nteje which is an Umueri town, but not an Umunri town. People often fail to realise that Umunri and Umueri are not the same thing. Umunri is a subset of Umueri. Nsukka Asadu was not founded by the Nri. Nri people only surjourned there. The way they surjourned in scores of other places. |
goalernestman:First five. Here you go. Nri Namoke/Nri Ifiukuanim (Their reigns sort of clashed; long story) Nri Buife Nri Omalo Nri Jimofor Nri Omalonyeso It continues to confuse me how you people come here to grandstand on topics you do not know anything about. |
1Sharon:You asked for names of Edo origin. I supplied a couple. You now switch to 'you can do more than that'. Me I am not here for goalpost-shifting arguments. By the way, anyone who says Edo people were the first settlers in Lagos lies; and I don't think that has been the position of sensible Edo people. Aworis were there first. But Edo people came later and their footprints are still in Lagos, the Idumu-names being an instance. |
1Sharon:But you know the word 'Idumu', as in 'Idumota' and 'Idumagbo' are quintessentially Edo. |
Ikeji is one of those names that sound so indigenous you don't suspect it could be just an acronym of sorts. Another popular one is Soweto in S.A., which sounds indigenous but is just SouthWestTown. |
What the clickbaiting fück is this? Placing hands on backside is not the same thing as GRABBING backside! You want to see what grabbing backside looks like?
|
Why will you be mad that an AMERICAN media house catering primarily to AMERICAN interests is not covering a NIGERIAN election? Do they owe you anything? Don't you have media houses in Nigeria? |
For me, it's the Urhobo/Isoko. Sociable. Naturally funny. |
Didn't know her jugs were that big. |
I tore some Naira notes and threw the pieces out of a window to show her money wasn't shït to me. ![]() In my defence I was 12. |
Queen! |
After which he will fly back to Calgary and leave you people in Nigeria to deal with the mess. |
GoTV:If you find what this particular woman is wearing sexually tempting and revealing, then the problem is you, not her. |
Respect! |
There's too much madness in here. People getting emotional because one particular writer was not mentioned as an inspiration by CNA? People going as far as calling her a tribalist because of that? Madness, I say. Geddifock! ![]() |
kolaxed98:Everything is a competition with you people. You expected a writer of prose to name a playwright as her model? |
***EDIT**** Never mind. Not worth it. |
Probz:Are you minding them? ![]() |
nineone:Maazi is not an Igbo title. Maazi is of Aro origin and any gentleman anywhere in the world with that title borrowed it from the Aro. |
labani06:His hair and skin colour could very easily be as a result of Caucasian admixture of which he has some. |
goalernestman:Ika clans, including Agbor, have ofor. Quit saying things you do not know. |
Everytime I tell people that voting for people in small parties with little reach and virtually no structure and financing in a big election (like a presidential election) is wasting one's vote, they get irritated and say naive things like "If you tell your friend and your friend tells a friend, every one will know. " No one has ever won a presidential election in a large complex democracy by just a friend telling a friend. Structure and financing is what gets presidential elections won in large democracies. Parties like PDP and APC have mobilization at the very lowest levels. I remember when I was working in a remote village in the east. As remote as that village was, they had a PDP leader who was well respected in the village. On election years some party people will come to the guy's compound. The guy will gather the villagers and it will be drilled into them that na PDP everybody go vote for o. On election day, they go out and they do it. YPP and all those smaller parties that just open office every four years to field a presidential candidate and then close office and vanish completely from the national discourse until another four years, do not have anything that comes anywhere close to that level of penetrating network. And they will make no head way on the presidential level until they do. Fact. Why not start small and build up? Why do most of them have only presidential candidates? Why can't they try and get candidates into House of Reps, Senate? Why can't they try and win local government chairman positions? A significant presence on these lower levels will make it more feasible for them to get into Aso Rock. And when they get into Aso Rock it will make it easier to implement their good policies. Imagine a YPP president trying to pass progressive bills through a House dominated by APC and PDP and not even one YPP member. Will not work. Why can't they all merge and present a strong third party to be better able to take on APC and PDP? Anyway, as things stand today, anyone who wants a second term for Buhari should feel free to vote for Moghalu or Ezekwesili or Fela or Sowore. |
BS! ![]() |
Oh this guy is smart, by god! Without Buhari in the room, Atiku was going to look like the worst person there and he knew it. He needed Buhari to deflect attention from himself and come out looking not quite terrible. |
Weird. But sure, whatever works for you, man. |

magicjack:He was just born in Port Harcourt, just like Odiah. Saint Obi's real name is Obinna Nwafor. Ikwerre people (much less those from the Rebisi axis where 'Igweocha' is located) no dey answer Nwafor. |
Captain Bleach strikes again! |

Even though I'm a born again Christian, i think it's shameful for a pastor's daughter to partake in wordly attires and sexually tempting revealing outfits. It brings reproach to Christianity and i hope we Christians learn from our Muslim counterparts whose female members are decently dressed and covered up. I won't stop condemning the vices of we Christians despite being a hard core prayer warrior.
