Liverpool will not win the Premiership. With Salah off in January I cannot see where the goals will come from. There is a paucity of craft in the top half of that team, little creativity. |
Dantedasz:The standards in the Premiership are far higher than what he saw in the Serie A. The pressure is far greater. Too many hard teams to play. |
Liverpool strangling United like some cold blooded killer.... ![]() Ten Haag needs to dial 911. |
Wow, beautiful palace. Everything about Kano and history and heritage is always so special. If tourism is to really flourish in Nigeria it will probably start in Kano. The potentials there are enormous. |
This is the kind of match Arsenal can easily lose. When you have all the possession and create all the chances but are timid in putting the ball into the net then strange things can happen at the other end. Folks never learn. This is the Premiership. |
Vinnie2000:That is all Nigerians like to do.....'fight to win elections', tigers at the polls but become pussycats in government. What was wrong in him fighting 'while in government' for a better Nigeria. Building solid foundations for the kind of institutions that underpin development. No, they keep quiet observing good table manners while there but afterwards preach more than the Apostles. |
AK481:Why. This is an honest assessment. Not to talk about the fact that the direct cost of insecurity to the economy is humongous and growing and the indirect cost of monetising security agents which is potentially deadly and destabilising. For it is one thing for militants and bandits to have huge resources to prosecute their nefarious activities, it is another thing to have serving military officers amass huge vaults under the guise of security votes. On the aspect of MNK and the South East question, history is filled with the inability of States to hound political prisoners into oblivion. The thought that the issue can be locked away and forgotten while everyone goes about his merry way is just fantasy. Nigeria is just not yet ready to address her structural issues so we continued to live under threat day after day, costing no only lives but huge resources that should be expended kin forward motion. Liberty is expensive for both individuals, communities and the State. The price to pay for that is humility, solidarity and equity. There is absolutely nothing wrong in sitting down and negotiating solutions towards peace. It was done in Northern Ireland, it was done in south-africa, it was done in Burma before the military made a volte-face and the country plunged back into misery. All these places faced armed struggle the kind of which we have not even seen a fraction of in Nigeria, so what is our problem, except for the pride of an ignorant State and the ideology of sections of this country. |
ajebuter:Hmmm..... Nigeria is progressing as they say. |
I have next to no interest in this.....whatever. I only talk about politics where there is a sliver of democracy involved. And as far as I am concerned democracy does not exist in Rivers State. We cannot be talking about an unfair contest between two illegitimate parties. A referee cannot give a red card to a player already suspended by the FA. What is he doing on the pitch in the first place. I have observed that a lot of people have jumped on the wagon of the 's-elected' governor. But is this not political laundering. An attempt to pass off a heist as legitimate earnings. There is no right party between the two pugilists just as there is no honour amongst thieves. |
In 5 months this government will have been place for a year and will have reached a quarter of it's tenure. Exactly what will it say it has positively achieved except perhaps to say that if Mr. Buhari was in government for a third term things would have been much worse. Every passing day of 'business as usual', aka 'lack of visionary or revolutionary ideas' in leadership circles paints a picture of another regime lacking the capacity to handle the affairs of this country. The image the average citizen has is that Abuja is on siesta. The past months of November and into December absolutely nothing happening at project site Nigeria. |
Don't mind them. They can't relate the fact that they have to borrow to survive simply because revenue is down due to a collapse in productivity caused by the decimation of the middle class. Where professionals and entrepreneurs are fast closing down their businesses and migrating for paid employment and venture enterprises abroad. The effect is that when the kettle on the hot plate has vaporized the water it proceeds to consume itself before finally pulling the entire house down in a fiery fire storm. Where you see an earth hole on your farm there is either a bush rat in place or a snake waiting for the bush rat to wander back home. The young people of this country will always position themselves to enter the middle class but where the snakes of systemic national hostility await they will naturally find new homes abroad to rest. Who wants to be an unfortunate victim of the peddlers of the failed system called Nigeria plc. |
33 Directors...... Then countries like China and the United States will require a town load of Directors to superintend over their own aviation industries. This country eh..... |
Of course it is not enough to buy Generals houses in Atlanta, Texas and Florida. It is only in a Banana Republic that you hear such slide without angst just days after a major expose on a serving officer alleged;y having multiple billion naira houses abroad..... only in Nigeria. And I will continue to speak out against the monetisation of professionalism throughout the corridors of government. Everywhere you go so called professionals fortunate to find themselves in administration have sold their souls to money. They have reduced every venture to naira and kobo from Betty Edu to the Defence chief and many more. Yes, they speak these things at their budget defences but the fact of the matter is that a pervading culture of 'throw money at problems' has swallowed the soul of this country eating away at the will to get things done by every way and means possible including looking inwards to creativity, qualitative management and resourcefulness. In Nigeria today administrators are content with mediocrity, failure and doing nothing if money is not front and centre so the country continues to bleed its economy to feed the proverbial bears. When a General who should speak in terms of tanks and ships, aircraft, bombs and bullets like his counterparts abroad is more adept to naira and kobo, something is amiss. In those days the simple reason why professionals are engaged is so that things can be DONE rather than BOUGHT. Nigeria is long lost along that road. Outside restructuring, the only thing Nigeria needs is revolutionary leadership. Out of the box thinkers in government and beyond and the backing of a citizenry that is absolutely fed up with the status quo. |
Cantonese:Well said. Read through the whole script and was about to be swept off my feet by the beauty pageantry but there is always another side of the coin viewed only by the man in the grave. |
Lawalemi:That is simply what we continue to say. Some will elect poor leadership out of sentiment and then recline to 'manage' life. All fine and good. But the fact is that not everyone can or will do that. Some of decayed morals and weak wills to legitimately survive and succeed will turn on society to unleash the fury of this fallout. This base barometer is what real nations are all about, watching out for its weakest links. |
Racoon:Well no one ever liked the medicine the doctor recommends but it is necessary. Everyday we talk about killing import dependence and becoming a productive nation. How will these things be without the 'stick' of right sizing, right calibrating our economy. If petrol sold for 80, 90, 100, 200 naira per litre who will think of building any refinery for instance. As long as there is a way out of work the typical Nigerian will simply not work. As long as the typical Nigerian can buy, he will never 'make'. |
sulaak:Put and end or a moratorium to the cancer called 'contracting'. Let Nigeria top to bottom start cooking her meals instead of visiting the restaurant. Half of our budget is lost to corruption, commissions and wanton profiteering. The true value of every naira accrued to the economy via government is no more than 30 percent. The rate at which government builds roads, feeds prisoners and buys office stationary is just ridiculous. A complete waste of resources. |
3rd world democracy in pictures. Yes, we are progressing indeed. |
Ikaeniyan0:Like father like son, like President like Minister. Practices form habits, habits form the culture that established destiny. Change is not just a slogan. It should be a practice. |
This is what we have been saying for years, almost 3 decades and from the infancy of this forum. Nigerians have the capacity to develop Nigeria. All it needs is a reorientation of thought and processes (restructuring) away from individualism to a nature of collectivism and a break from self serving leadership. Nigerians indeed generate more power than the state and the state organised power sector. Nigerians indeed pump more water than all the state controlled and state organised water boards. Nigerians indeed employ more security guards than the combined armed forces and policing agencies in Nigeria. Nigerians indeed have more dollars in their vaults than the CBN can dream of. And very soon they will probably earn more foreign exchange than the nation officially earns. In truth this is the way it should be. Resources and the potentials to create wealth should be in the hands of the citizens. The only difference between advanced, developed and inherently prosperous societies and backward, third world banana republics is not the availability of resources but the organisation of these resources. How they are cultivated and applied to purpose, vision and collective progress. Incidentally this is the sole purpose of government. To aggregate resources and organise society towards a collective vision of prosperity. This we have not been able to do since independence despite the monstrous resources that have come our way, all frittered away. So in order not to wander away in thought, the power issue is simple. Restructure it. Rebuild it from the ground up. Make it people-centric not exclusive. INVOLVE NIGERIANS. They have the capacity. Build smart grids so that TRUE IPP's can inject power into the grid AND MAKE MONEY FROM THEIR ASSETS, such that instead of turning off their generators when "NEPA" comes they can keep them running for a little profit. If this technological leap seems far fetched then organise power clusters where big generating individuals and companies can sell power locally as they please. If this liberty still threatens the monopolists then why can't they simply ask the public to invest in power through shareholding, making it mandatory that the power sector be a TRUE public enterprise. All it takes is ORGANISATION, the only purpose of GOVERNMENT. |
They all played for top clubs abroad and with the exception of Yekini plied their trade in Europe's big 5 leagues. |
Feudal country. Further proves that he was not democratically elected but selected to do the bidding of his 'king', the only guarantee for his success. If they are not propping up the extremely corrupt and vile so as to blackmail them to do their bidding in office they will select the extremely timid, extremely indolent or an outright mentally challenged fellow so that there is no independent thought in government or no will whatsoever to change the status quo for the better. And then we turn round and blame the colonial regime for exactly the same misadventure and for planting the seeds of every social malaise we cultivate today. Only in a third world banana plantation will a single individual who was absolutely nothing a couple of decades ago will evolve into a monstrous tyrant that hapless citizens flee from at the wave of a hand. Where is that famous picture of a horse tied to a tiny plastic chair again..... |
Feudal nation where the king dies on the throne. Where it is an 'abomination' for the king to resign or retire. |

They always love to associate with wrongs. Their history is ever limited to the bad things of the past when they thump their chests that what they support is better. Crying that theirs is change. Change from what to what you ask? What is different, what is the point in changing government when you get exactly the same outcome, the same waste, the same corruption, the same overall bad governance. How can a sane, moral, bonfide citizen. sit down and continue to tolerate and excuse this. |

wonlasewonimi:Rush to the bottom of the barrel where the dregs are. So unfortunate. Without restructuring this country will never become a viable entity. |
We continue.to sat this but naysayers, praise singers and fanatics will continue propping up the status quo. A deeply rooted culture of 'contracting' instead of 'doing', producing stuff which promotes all sorts of antisocial vices from corruption to rent seeking. That only a visionary, purposeful, leadership operations in ultra high fidelity can change. We are yet to get leaders that will 'put the Nigerian to work.' Leaders that are prepared to roll up their sleeves and comit 'class suicide'. We may have oil but WE ARE NOT ARABS. Our prosperity will not come from the ground, but from the works of our hands and the sweat off our brows. We should immediately STOP BORROWING and START WORKING. We must as a nation immediately enter into loan rehab and start living by our means. It takes real leadership to do that. The IMF must tell those who visit them cap in hand the hard truth TO THEIR FACES not.to hapless citizens in meaningless press releases. Citizens that have sold their right o good governance to sentiment. |
Olayinka779:Why not. What should we use. |
garykoeman:Typical finicky signal cables and/or the notorious LNB is likely the issue. Usually happens in the transition from wet season to dry and vice versa where the kit is aging or of modest quality. |
peteofi:Well grounded, enduring with the State broadcaster. Will be missed in and around the industry. May her family and friends find solace at this difficult time. As for being a trailblazer, I think that is stretching things a bit too far. By her entry into mainstream NTA the industry was already undergoing massive changes with the emergence.of private media outlets and the berth of cable t.v. For someone who follows the electronic media I hardly watched her. By 1995 CNN, Fox and Sky was firmly in the homes of Nigerians and as they say the rest is history. |
blowjohn:Yup.... The truth is that if the club is not careful the gaffer loses the locker room and a bad situation goes worse. He just cannot seem to be able to motivate them or craft any sort of playing style that is purposeful. Can't see his impact on this team. Good coach no doubt but perhaps it is a case of the glove just not fitting the hand. |
Naijagoodman:Who is the great manager out there with Champions league pedigree that is available at the moment..... that is the problem. |
