For those concerned, even struck with fear about Buhari's health as regards Nigeria, this is why we have been insisting from the get go that we need strong institutions not strong men. Men will always come and go. It is their ideals that need to be cast in stone and the only way to build institutions is to inspire by self sacrifice. This is not being done. But must be insisted upon when he returns that to change Nigeria you have to carry everyone along. Individuals work for individuals, institutions work for peoples. When you hear people express fear over something it means there is something wrong. As they say of relationships: 'If you love someone set them free. If they return to you, then its yours. If not it was never yours in the first place.'....speaking of this sad, surreal turn of events. |
Annamma:Your mum is in her 60's which means you are an adult but you talk and act like a child no wonder you are treated as such. If she was still providing for you will you have a choice or what phone you are gifted. You are too old to be doing mummy and daddy's boy or girl and the journey ahead is one of psychological disaster. Better slam the phone down and go get a life. That you are even competing with your siblings that you have no future relationship is just pathetic. Tomorrow they will tell you how to bonk your partner. |
buchai:It is their own business and if they donot get paid it serves them right. Just like Innoson, if your primary focus is government because you want to avoid the tough challenges of free market competition then you have no future. I hope this will be the first and last 'government job' they do. They should go the 'Dangote' way and build business by public patronage thus ensuring long term stability and profitability. Governments come and go, the people remain the same. It is them industry should serve. My government portfolio is virtually empty. I donot consider their patronage important at the least so I have no lean days and lick nobody's arse. Ayade has two years left to found that factory/business and he better leverage his position to get its products into the mass market not government stores alone if not it will certainly become yet another white elephant that his successor may not want to ride perhaps preferring black horses instead. And as soon as they begin to make money diverse ownership away from government. Sell shares, recoup investment and move to the next project. If they attempt to hang onto ownership in any way, shape or form, it will shortly become a government parastastal and certainly a long term drain on government resources. Government has no business in business. |
Glad to know it happened in Lagos. No better way to reset mentalities there. |
Ishilove: I can't but I can assure you its not poison. Its not a recent thing. |
Ishilove:Hi dear, .... I can tell you he is not, but I won't say what it is. |
Ishilove:Haba. Nobody is poisoning or poisoned him. Has nothing to do with that. |
We know what he is down with and why he can't return anytime soon. He better stay there and go through the full course of treatment. Its not worth it. There is nothing in Nigeria to give in exchange for his life. May God heal him. |
nwabobo:We are not interested. We did not send them there and will only raise a finger if the country nets a benefit from their sojourn there which is highly unlikely. |
Omoluabi16:If the north is determined to hold on by all and every means fair or foul, I think in the interests of all Nigerians, they should let them be. If not whoever succeeds will have to explain the broken pieces of china scattered all over the kitchen floor and will bear the near impossible ignomy of putting them back together. In a nutshell he will most certainly inherit failure. Let us use the period 2019 to 23 to come together to repair the existing economic damage. Let socio-political brigandage take the backseat for a few years. Nigeria is on her knees abeg. Na peson wey chop belleful dey fight....mbok. |
omenkaLives:Anyone who has the genuine interests of Nigeria cannot ask President Buhari to continue beyond 2019. This country needs solid leadership. It takes more energy to right a sinking ship than to sink one and in the eyes of the world we cannot be considered serious with an incapacitated captain. If anything happens to him in office it will be worse. Yes for the sake of political stability Nigeria should support a northern presidency but that is only because we have more pressing problems and can ill afford opening up another war front. If we encounter a messy transition you can imagine what will happen to the already battered naira. I am not an apostle of nonchalantly destroying with the hope of repairing. A wise man chooses his battles and the chronicles of this government are clear to be read to all that you will have to face the mess you help create. |
I think with the situation in Nigeria and in all honesty I will support a northern presidency come 2019. Not because I believe this is the way to go at all but it is one less problem to deal with and I appeal to all Nigerians to let whatever interests they have go. The nation is in dire straits right now economically and socially and can ill afford a contentious poll and power tussle at the centre. The transition to the next administration must be as smooth, even smoother than that of 2015 because this is the only hope we have of retaining the remaining eggs in the basket. As for President Buhari, I think he should start the process of finding his successor. Clearly his body is not in support of his vision for this country and he should not even contemplate continuing beyond this term. The memories of the Yaradua saga and the ensuing instability is not helping this country in the eyes of those who can help and he has to use the remaining period in government to consolidate the gains made so far and institutionalise the processes and procedures both in government and in his party the APC such that his legacy is intact and will continue to be felt for times to come. It was good while it lasted, it could be better if it lasted longer. |
poshestmina:Then bring them up properly. The quality of your parenting will determine the experiences you will have in due time. It is biblical. It is a law. |
No country, I repeat, no country except perhaps China generates the foreign exchange it needs by exports alone. Most countries depend heavily, some up to 50 percent of their budgets on foreign investment, and how will you attract it if you are not ready to trade. Who will invest if they cannot get their money out and back. Stupid people playing blind politics and dying in poverty. When you see figures drop by such a large margin, well meaning, sensible people will look closely with serious concern and not just make childish, silly comments. Is it China getting poorer or we. What has the economic policy of this government brought positively in 2 years but pain and more pain... rubbish. |
obailala:They don't have foreign exchange because demand outstrips supply caused by their artificial regulation so every Tom, Dick and Harry is buying up all the dollars available to hedge against inflation, simple. This government's rubbish policies is killing the economy. Float the naira and people will become net sellers not buyers. It is highly profitable today to trade in currencies rather than real goods and proper services. You people just keep politics out from all this mess and use your senses for once. |
AntiWailer:Is it tooth picks that accounted for the 12 billion dollar difference. Don't be silly. |
Even if there are Al-Qaida suicide bombers hiding in the water, I have Seal Team 6 in ma tummy. |
For people to start comparing Proforce with Innoson is quite unfortunate for Innoson. They should cut this out and focus on building cars with the mass market in view, expending their resources in that direction. If they want to do customisation or specialisation they can float a seperate entity and operate like mercedes and AMG. |
greenhulk:Well, I have said it as I see it. If you are going to repair a car that cost me 100 million to buy, I will simply not tolerate this especially if my bill will be six figures. There is no way the paint on that Phantom will not be scratched with the pictures I am seeing. A simple N20,000 cozy around the engine bay of such a car is mandatory to any work on that engine. But as it is with many Nigerian businesses THEY KNOW that people with such cars DONOT HAVE ALTERNATIVES so there is no incentive to upgrade. You go to the clinic of the only specialist in a locality and you are likely going to be treated badly. My own idea of things is that when one creates a model of things well and properly done it attracts more business and those who will ordinarily not buy these exotic cars because they cannot be maintained will do so. It makes more sense to upgrade. These mechanics will be making a bucket load of money. Let us see it. That black looking, scruffy wall behind looks....one kind abeg. Have you seen Julius Berger's auto workshop... mind you cars is not their primary business. |
greenhulk:If people did not have bad experiences this topic will not arise so be objective. Nigeria has a problem with education and it affects every aspect of our lives, from quack doctors to collapsing buildings and failed mechanics. There is no hiding this fact. There has to be an incentive to change things, to improve things and this starts with public criticism. Hopefully when enough people are victims they will force a change. On another thread I was speaking about how Nigeria is getting left behind in terms of technology and this is a witness. In years to come when the gasoline engine gives way to all electric cars and petrol powered cars are no longer produced and even banned worldwide what will Nigeria and Nigerians do with our epileptic power situation. When the west starts producing autonomous drive vehicles, what happens to us without the skills and infrastructure to handle them. Something needs to be done. Okada Air in the eighties had a mighty fleet of McDonnel Douglas and older Boeing turbojet planes and at its peak was flying international but when the EU banned these old planes on emission and noise regulations Okada and Nigeria Airways suffered a death blow. Even one of our Presidential aircraft could not fly to Europe and was sold off. In a nutshell, if we donot raise our game, we will be left behind. People have genuine concerns. Today we suffer dollar scarcity because even to treat a toothache people travel out. Knowledge and standards are falling everywhere and the gap between us and the rest of the world is widening. |
If I had a Phantom (which is not remotely desirable) it will be a one way street. That is, the day it breaks, that will be the very end. I think the owner is better off selling the vehicle and getting a new one rather than watch a slow agonizing death. This is one of the reasons more people don't buy them here. No support services. |
Pyroclast:But c'mon guys.... if you are going to handle cars worth hundreds of thousands of dollars the least you can do is to create an environment for that. I mean why do your repairs all out in the open and in such tough conditions. Looking at the picture for instance there is no protection around the hood edges and these engines are massive so you end up with paint scratches and dents here and there and.... abeg if the owner came around... where will he sit..... |
sapientia: ;Dkikikikiki.....oh dearie me... ![]() |
Papasmal: .....more phrases pls......here's one.... about to be Musbaaaaaued..... Nairaland hehehehehe. |
I am a bit concerned about this. Though I know in business to raise capital and grow rapidly you may have to roll out services to the elite which brings in much cash and publicity but if not handled properly you will have a brand identity crises. In the automobile world this is a major challenge to all manufacturers. You are either a mass producer or an exclusive producer, you are either known for producing affordable vehicles or elite vehicles. You just cannot do both under the same badge. Innoson should watch his steps carefully because it appears most of what we hear these days relate to the upper tier of business where typically profits are high but volumes are low and loyalties fickle. The present strategy may fit his establishment in terms of capacity and the need to entice the powers that be to gain favourable legislation but it can be done with people power just as effectively as Dangote did in capitalising on an economic squeeze similar this in the mid eighties to explode his commodities business into an empire it is today. Will Innoson be a Volkswagen, Ford or Toyota or a Jaguar, Maseratti, Aston Martin..... |
dokyOloye:I think your theatre describes a public establishment where typically the facilities are vast, staff and patients aplenty and authority detached. I will say to you here and now. In Nigeria private health facilities outnumber public ones by a magnitude of 10 or more, where space is often at a premium such that examinations and the likes are conducted in closets (and will the door be left open to the public....highly unlikely) staff to do these checks are at a premium and where authority is likely to be in the hands of the senior partner or medical director who does the examinations, so who will report who internally. The best you can hope for in this case is a disciplined, ethical professional individual, whistle blowing staff or a patient's response (as was the case of the Nigerian doctor in Canada) or the wife of the doctor going public as I have heard in a couple of cases over the years. |
durasome:Well, not every case is extreme as you explain. I'm sure the vast majority of cases they see relate to the big issue of pregnancy or the lack of it which ends up requiring an inspection of the 'equipment' and in the husband's mind hopefully no test firing, after all how can you be dead certain it isn't the husband's gun that contains blank bullets. ![]() |
I suppose its like a baker being enticed by bread hawked on the streets or a farmer loving the smell of roasted corn at the road side or the mechanic gawking at a passing honda..... highly unlikely. They have seen so much, looked at them in such detail that their disposition will not create an atmosphere of suspicion and unease. Anyway they also know that to be successful and bring home the bacon regularly they have to act professionally to the great percentile of patients/customers that come their way. Infact it is their wives and partners of these doctors that will feel the emotional squeeze of what their husbands could be doing while at work and not their patients. The patient will consult for only a while but the consultant will serve for a lifetime. It is he and his family I pity. |
Clearly the future is not designed with Nigeria in mind...... sorry. Electric vehicles..... 1,800 megawatts.... power epilepsy.... Smart cars ..... Waidi, Kazeem and Jafaru... who will not read... anything... Composites ..... versus..... vandals, cratered roads and mad drivers..... The era of Nigerians and africans owning and driving automobiles is slowly coming to an end.... just like the airline and aerospace business. The world has left us behind.... and we can no longer run these businesses successfully. By the time self driving, autonomous vehicles become the norm, and by the time gasoline powered vehicles are banned worldwide (just like turbojet aircraft were banned in europe leading to the demise of Okada Air) and their production proscribed by the UN, we will all take to bicycles and for those who cannot ride, they will have to do with horses and donkeys because we cannot provide the basic, functional and reliable infrastructure required to operate these new technologies, safely and profitably...... too bad... |
Thought corruption has ended. Just wasting their time like using insecticide in a swamp. |
9jakohai:Define 'relative'. |
The internet is his court of justice and has sentenced him to life imprisonment in a glass cage he will never escape from. The guy has just truncated his entire generation. His children's children will see this and curse him. |
