vedaxcool:You can see ammo casings in a SCHOOL and this is all you have to say. Are you a parent or a child because if you are the former you will be very concerned about what happened there. And if everything that happens around you is political then I am afraid you are becoming inhuman, simple. Please be objective. We are talking about human lives here. |
Using firearms openly in a school full of students is a terribly dangerous thing to do. I think parents who have their wards in that institution should move for the temporary closure until this matter is sorted out. It may not be the end of the assault and could get worse if not checked. |
TheGoodJoe:But is it really torture. Because if so it sounds like actions were taken based on sentiments rather than objectivity. In my field we do a lot of testing and welcome failure no matter how expensive as a necessary learning tool. It is called destructive testing. Any reasonable person will want to hear and read as much as possible about the failed MMM scheme so that he is equiped to avoid such pitfalls in the future because believe you me it will ressurect in another recession cycle in another form and only the prepared will survive. Not everyone is affected by recession, not everyone was swept by Ponzi passion and it is because they KNOW and continue to seek knowledge. But the blackman is prone to suffering because he places passion above knowledge. There is no shame in failure but in failing to learn from it. We welcome more and more topics to educate more and more people. Mavrodi has made away with a lot of money. He must not steal the vaccine to resist a future attack on our mental wellbeing. |
juman:But fact for fact. What is the root of this problem. What is he doing or failing to do that is fuelling the crises. Because I am not one given to blaming authorities for the sake of it. And it is not every problem political leadership can solve. Sometimes it is the people that must act to live in peace, sacrificing for the greater good. |
Bamgboseomotoyo:300k for what. Who or what is he risking his life for. Whoever claims to do business and cannot manage online transactions should not be in business. Can't waste my time or risk my life for such a person or system. |
dominique:One in every ten persons on a teller queue is a hoodlum with advanced knowledge of psychology just waiting for the inept to dance. |
This is a clear case of laziness. They 'help' you folks with everything, even withdrawing your own money. Can't you do your chores, can't you be patient in a queue, can't you be patient to learn how things work and how to get things done. Yet you don't have the resources to risk and waste. If a single ATM card can wreck this much havoc on your finances and cause worldwide publicity then you should not be handing you card to just anybody, I mean anyone at all. It is the rich that don't do cards, don't do queues and don't moan about people pilfering from their stash. C'mon, wake up. |
FuckBuhari:I think this is unbecoming and getting out of hand. This is a democracy that accords you rights and privileges. You have a right to democratic change so these unfortunate insults are unnecessary. Every country has had its share of leadership challenges, survived them and recovered. You speak and curse like someone without hope, like someone who has been robbed. Well, if you see yourself and your country this hopeless then you are no better than them you curse. Better stop. |
That is not what you do with stray dogs. You take them to the vet or animal control agencies not your house. There are numerous, life threatening diseases they can carry and it will be unfortunate if you or your neighbours are affected by this risky move. Stray pets are an absolute no, no unless you are certain of what put them on the streets in the first place. |
lilytender:But they are stealing in Buhari's government at the moment and you cannot really fight what you are part of. I told you guys Buhari was an establishment candidate simply voted to maintain the status quo. Tell me what about government has changed in the last 2 years. Very little. Corruption has simply changed business card. |
Freedom of expression. Not everyone must have a common view. Not everyone is affected by government in the same way. But it is good to speak up. |
The Sunnis are gradually being isolated as intolerant and incapable of reaching across the aisle. Smart political move. |
I'm sure quite a few were regular noisemakers on this forum when the going was good. These things make me note our fellow forumites we've not heard from in a while..... know quite a few. We should have a button for 'off to prison for lunch, be back in thirty years'... |
Yomiwayne80:Hail them as they drive past and if you can do a 'Sai Shekau!' it might buy you and extra fifteen seconds before the demons in them awake. |
If all these are not generating revenue especially foreign exchange to pay for the cost of a divided society where tribalism and sectionalism eats away at our national fabric, be it emir, oba or obi, they are just totally useless. Representation is not the same as sectionalism. It is just a lazy way of getting what is not worked for by patronising the narrow sentimemts of feudal subjects. |
Comedy Central. I have long given up on these people. Rochas should rather be on the Daily Show. |
So, the question is, how many of such containers has gone through prior. Proper intelligence is required. |
amiablesystems:It is an institution not a person. There is no one to arrest. That is why it is important to build institutions rather than elevate individuals. |
Excuse me. But the truth is that an offspring at home (meaning doing nothing) at that age is a reflection of his parents and is a product of bad parenting. I was telling someone the other day that the beasts of the wild 'teach' their offspring survival skills instinctively. They teach them how to hunt, fight for their food and wellbeing. It is a natural animal instinct lost in humans these days. At the very least why can't the parents transfer the skills and drive that took them out of their parents houses when they were young to their kids now. Nobody is born a success. What everyone is and knows is taught by someone. In those days even without formal education parents did take their children to the farm to learn and work and when they came of age carved out a portion of land for them to fend for themselves and secure their future. Land today has been exchanged for education and farming for professions. What can't the parents take the young man and woman to work to show him or her how money is made. Why can't he be taken to 'the office' or workshop or clinic or library or laboratory or shop or cantonment to learn, aid and become a man or woman of value. It is the parent who has no value for himself or herself that cannot transmit value. My kids will not write applications, walk the streets or seek employment for one second of their lives because I am a man of vision who knows they will finish or continue what time will not permit me to accomplish and hopefully they will be a better, upgraded version of me. I will not go to school, acquire knowledge, waste years in building experience and capacity only to let it all rot when I die and have my generation start afresh. That is why we are so backward in Africa. It is all about money not about value, behaving in ways even goats will not. That may be a cow on the bed but what births a cow if not an older cow. Nonsense. |
Exactly what happened in 1984. They created a perfect storm of scarcity of the most basic of commodities, truncated the entry of those commodities into the country through an import permit regime that created instant milionaires of every pen pusher along the value chain and left Nigerians with hyper inflation. Remember my mum had to travel all the way to Lagos to get a license no one could guarantee even after partying with huge sums to government agents. Buhari was the author of the black market we see today. Prior to his regime in the 80's you could walk into any bank and trade foreign currency over the counter. He put paid to that by barring banks from exchanging currencies 'directly and created the dual rate, the informal trade, by sending the entire process through the Central Bank and while he shipped his abroad, they confiscated all the forex held by banks. So people simply kept their foreign currency at home and did their business round the corner. How we could permit this same thing 30 years later baffles me. But it was always going to happen to a country with ultra high illiteracy and where the people hate the truth, but rather love to follow after sentiments. I asked prior and after his election if anyone knew of anyone Military Administrator or Minister who served in 1983 to 85 who is not a multi billionaire today purely out of corruption and government patronage. Dust up your almanac and peruse. Lightning is indeed striking the second time on this hapless country. It is like saying anyone wishes the Jonathan administration back in power. You will get exactly what happened before and perhaps to a higher degree. I hope this will be the last former administrator we will elect to office. And I sincerely hope Nigerians will learn from all this and act to prevent a third lightning strike since we believe we are not cursed as a nation. |
9jakohai:Oga. What is FDI. Because it appears you fail to understand what is happening. FDI ars funds brought into a country by individuals, companies, but mainly financial institutions such as fund managers who invest on behalf of their clients who inturn could be government's, companies, high networth individuals, shareholders, pensioners, etc. They look out for green pastures to put their monies in. Their Bibles are sound financial reports, projections, budgets, developmental plans and strategies. Their pastors are Fitch, Moody's and other rating agencies and they go like loyal flock where these lead. It doesn't matter whether you produce oil, charcoal or soyabeans, if the facts and figures are right, if the plans and prospects are good, they will come in mass. We have had oil since independence but they only started coming in mass when we transited to democracy showing that it is not about oil but ABOUT GOVERNANCE. Quality of governance AFFECTS the prosperity of any country. Now let me share a secret with you. Knowledgeable investors seek to invest at the bottom of financial cycles because it hold the potential for the maximum return..... IF THINGS ARE GOING TO WORK. So it is not a bad economy that scares people, but the lack of prospects that things will turn around. So I have never worried about devaluation or the naira rate at any point in time. Infact I am an apostle of devaluation when things are tough. I am an apostle of floating the naira to decouple government from business. Devaluation ordinarily should make our assets and our economy ATTRACTIVE to investment but every investment expects a return whether short, medium or long term and nobody will invest if he cannot see a profit ahead. So it is up to government to guarantee a profit ahead or else people will continue to flee with their money and the aira will continue to weaken. The naira is completely controlled and is the barometer of peoples confidence is the government of any country. And its slide shows you they are losing confidence and patience day after day. |
9jakohai:You are either dishonest or ignorant. What kept the naira stable during those times was FDI. What distablilizes the currency now is the opposite. Lack of FDI and reverse investment.... disinvestment..... people converting their naira to dollars and leaving the country due to lack of confidence in the government's direction and ability to reverse the trend. Brother, even Nigerian salary earners and businessmen are converting their earnings to dollars to hedge against inflation/devaluation. The naira component of my earnings is down to 48%, just for operational expenses and if this trend of misgovernance continues I cannot see myself holding more than 15% in naira in my wallet by year's end. Oil prices were lower than this for most of OBJ's tenure and even lower during the Abdulsalami time when even our external reserves went down to 9 billion dollars I think. So it has little to do with oil comparatively. Any way how do you explain the marginal increase in our foreign reserves since late last hear with the declining dollar. Normally when your reserves increase your currency should stabilise but the naira is not because there is more cash outside CBN control than within its control and this cash reacts to the wider economy. OBJ and later Yaradua then Jonathan were able to raise additional dollars through FDI which peaked in 2014/15. All that is gone. In a nutshell, the government is talking but the people who matter (both foreigners and Nigerians) are not buying their policies and are voting with their wallets. The people are the reality of any country, just like the stock market or any market is the reality of any economy and they are saying loud and clear, 'we have no confidence in the ability of government to repair the economy'. I could remember a year and a half ago when International Financial institutions warned about the impending calamity and they were rudely rebuffed by hallucinating fans of 'change'. These are the peoples with the monies that kept us stable in unstable oil price regime but we abused them. Funny enough when we talk about diversifying the economy FDI is one area. Diversification does not absolutely mean manufacture this or that. It also means having a second stream of income just like doing a second job to make ends meet when your first job is unstable. You may be a doctor driving a cab or a lawyer running a supermarket. How you earn the income does not matter but earn it. What we were doing was abusing our foreign customers and we have lost out. |
connkg:Yes. First rule of emergencies - Unhindered Access. |
xandy84:Quite right about TSA as we said then. When an economy slows the last thing government does is to draw resources to itself. Economics 101 says government slows the economy when it moves fast as in the time of Jonathan which he failed to do by saving but Buhari equally scores an F by slowing further an already slowing economy by excessive savings, currency controls, stifling regulation regimes and bigger government footprint. He just forgot that government worldwide in the 21st century is an umpire not a player in the game of capitalism, free market and enterprise. Pragmatic, knowlegeable people run countries these days not sentimentalists. |
TippyTop:The government daily 'changes' jokers to superstars and raises dead politicians faster than 'Resident Evil'. |
darknetcom:You're too ignorant for this kind of forum. If foreign exchange flow to Nigeria siezes up. In a week patients will be dying in hospitals due to lack of medical perishables, within a week fuel will become scarce, within a month the prices of EVERY COMMODITY will rise, within 6 month oil production will stop because expat salaries will cease, within a year aircraft will begin falling out of the sky due to lack of fx to maintain them, within 2 years the road networks, power plants and telecom networks will erode, corrode and collapse due to lack of maintenance and the worst thing is that you will not hear or see any of this at least from a neutral, unbiased perspective because sattelite tv will be cut off due to unremittable revenue. Think. And by the way, you and Shekau will be seated drinking tea together over breakfast because the Army cannot get a new consignment of 7.62mm or 105mm shells for their artillery pieces. And believe me he won't care if you bonk with Italian or Chinese rubber. |
They said it was low oil prices but they have recovered marginally. They also said militancy was responsible but since the turn of the year oil production has hit 1.9million barrels, 70% of our max. So what is happening, why does the naira continue to slide. Because of steady disinvestment occassioned by failed policies. This government has run out of excuses and ideas. |
Gosh. When will this rubbish nonsense stop. Why are some Nigerians so silly. Address who about what. The man said he is holidaying. You raised a rumour and his lieutenants replied. Not satisfied you want him to break his rest to prove what. People are seriously stupid and grossly indolent. Don't they have better things to do. Just imagine grown people sitting down to discuss rumours. First election mistakes, then MMM tomfoolery now rumour mongering. Nigerians increasingly disappoint me with every passing month. |
Except there are no other alternatives at that point in time so the mind of both parties will be distracted, the man angry and the child embarassed but it should not be standard practice. |
tundeks:Nothing to say to your kind. This forum makes it clear that fraudulent schemes are not welcomed here. What do you expect to hear discussed but how to undo the damage you and your cohorts have caused society. |
OLUWAFUNMISE:That is the guilt conscience that will haunt you guys for time to come. You were all warned. Continue in denial. That's Nigerians for you. Instead of admitting and apologising they want to covers their backsides with a broom stick. |
tillaman:Do you know under what terms she loaned those monies. I bet she lied about the intended purpose and was perhaps warned not to indulge in the scam so the retribution will have been compounded. |
