It is Nigerians I pity. Instead of them to have insisted in the building of institutions, they prefered the elevation of individuals, cheering the every charge of the mighty hippopotamus as he churned the waters, tossing both friend and foe asunder. But countries with centuries of good leadership and democracy have shown us how to do it and warned us against the 'strong man delusions', but we refused. Can we now see why it is so dangerous. If anything happens to PMB, the ferocity by which corruption will expand will simply swamp this country and possibly sink it for good. For the hungry jackals are just waiting for the old hippo to strut its last steps and take its last breathe before ripping it apart. So goes life in the Serengeti.... |
Told you guys restructuring was the only way. But you wanted an anti-corruption superman. Now that 'corruption has been defeated'..... how far Nigerians... The quality of a nation is directly proportional to the quality of it's inhabitants. Reference 101. |
Hahahah.....Wike is crazy. He wants to incite a social revolt in another state. This is war. |
1koboko:In agree with this too. The whole criminal justice system is poor. Where in the world will you ever see male and female detainees occupying the same space. She could be assaulted and then the authorities will be in real trouble. |
Acidosis:Totally agree. |
In the first place birds cannot get electrocuted..... If you understand the principles of electricity. So I guess this post is a theme park for ignoramuses or in plural..... ignorami.... a specie of Iphone carrying primates found south of the Sahara. |
fmarshal:Oh, all the seaports are operational, but no where near capacity. |
But why have six kids. For what now eh. These are lifestyle choices people must educate themselves about. I often wonder how Nigerians are not able to sense the correlation between our run away population growth and the plumetting standard of living. |
mmsen:Oga. Go to the homes of the greater percentile of those students and you will see similar open 'firewood fueled' kitchens. These are not well to do societies and education for them is not a right, but a privilege most cannot afford. That government pays a premium to feed them is so they can be educated so you don't expect the government to construct a gourmet kitchen, employ five star chefs and serve 6 course meals. Be realistic. |
What is so bad about the environment. Granted it won't pass muster in some climes but for heavens sake it is the standard of living of those students. The fact there are functional schools serving food is a good enough start. Certainly not the end. When the quality of the kitchen begins to limit the performance of the students then it will be improved. |
Ermacc: He's Eden Hazard. Best player.... no assists.... just solo runs. |
fmarshal:Well the origin of highway traffic in Nigeria are the seaports and since the North doesn't have them you will tend to think North bound highways will be more congested than South - East bound ones which have alternative ports lined up from Warri to Eket taking a bit off the cargo volumes. So I guess Lagos - Ibadan will be slightly more congeated than Benin - Ore. |
atmy1:The Calabar - Oron link is not done and may never be. The terrain is just hideous. |
Any country that manipulates the realities of its economy cannot be free from corruptive tendencies in high places. If you must live above your means, pally you must steal....period. |
vedaxcool:They are not responsible for the crisis so stop looking for rocks to crawl under. The policy is responsible for creating the perfect storm. If you don't clean your gutters, mosquitos will breed, stop blaming the mosquitos. If you were there you will do similar. The temptation is just overwhelming. Your concern should be how many more are there and what is the extent of damage. And why it took so long to detect even after Emir Sanusi alluded to this fact almost a year ago. What has suddenly happened to cast the cat amongst the pigeons. |
Boyooosa:No, but it is APC policy that has put the fish before the cat.....drain.... the ..... swamp. |
We said this currency manipulation by government will inflame the corruption the government claims to be fighting. In Trump's voice... 'Drain....the...swamp...' The more government you have in business, the more business you have in government. You can just imagine how many millions of dollars of reserves will have been stolen by now. |
We don't need another paramilitary organisation. President Buhari should put the proposal on a compost heap. Rubbish. What the hell is Peace Corps. We better free ourselves from the trauma of colonial rule. Must everything in Nigeria be by force. If we cannot organise ourselves to live peacefully together then we rather need more education and enlightenment. Establish a body to go through the nooks and crevices of Nigeria raising the standard of literacy and social enlightenement. Peace will naturally fall in line. No. They rather want more gun totting extortionists making our lives more unbearable. Truly Nigerians deserve the suffering they encounter. |
Stanleywaxy:Technically he is right. But it is called the Portharcourt - Enugu expressway. Once you drive past Aba heading north, the traffic volume falls dramatically. |
Another busy highway was the Ikom - Ogoja - Katsina Ala and its various tributaries but that too has been largely abaondoned due to its bad state. |
symbianDON:It was the busiest but it's poor condition and delayed reconstruction cost it a lot of traffic to the Akure - Magongo route. And once those notorious long distance truckers latch onto new watering holes along the way, only overwhelming economics can take them back to the old route. |
Mynd44:Travel una no go gree, but generic authoritative comments abound. Just sidon for Lagos dey conclude on every mata. BTW. East West is part of the Coastal highway stretching at present effectively from Benin, Edo state to Oron, Akwa Ibom state in various stages of construction, repair, abandonment or use... depending on your point of view. It is the effective nerve centre of Nigeria's oil and gas industry and a critical part of the nation's vehicular infrastructure. |
The Senate can summon any citizen of a country. |
AbbeyvanPersie:Then there is nothing to support because there is no one in government right now that isn't corrupt. |
Qmerit:Nothing wrong with that in the spirit of democracy. Are the chief proponents of the anti-corruption war in the Executive not corrupt themselves. If we can accept them, why not the Legislators. In Nigeria everyone of them public offficers abuses public office but we have to move on somehow. If we seek saints to rule we seek an untimely transition to heaven where they reside. In the path to development it is the product that matters not the process or the producers. Just focus on what they intend to deliver and ignore the character of the men and women they are or risk emotional self injury. |
They should do so. This Kaduna thing is hell. Unnecessary wear and tear on my poor town car. |
Well, ask the Oba of Lagos....and where are those 'Lagoon' T-shirts again. |
Dis one na pussy cat na. |
chinnasa:Every government establishment has a budget that covers such 'unexpected events' but as democracies mature they will make provisions for such things in the future. It is a good development. |
xtivin:That is why I like democracy and free speech and abhor every form of authoritaniarism. You can just imagine the sequence of seemingly unrelated events crystalizing to perhaps reform the educational system and ABU in particular, now that the university is under the spot light, its degrees both past and present being called into question and one seemingly innocent exam officer, HOD, Dean or perhaps VC Academics queried for an indiscretion formented all so many years ago. In working democracies nothing stays hidden forever and the practice of having active opposition reforms society in ways no personal anti-corruption war or crusade can ever muster. In democracies society is caged in glass walls and held together by power fluxes. Btw, didn't I say the APC didn't need the PDP to form opposition..... that it will generate one itself..... that power could not exist in a vacumn..... |
ezechinwa2:It will still be this bad. The Bible clearly indicates that will the passage of time towards the end of days things will get worse not better all round. And that it is only the Christian community that will be spared this turmoil and turbulence because of their values and associations. Even Jesus alluded to that fact. That the poor will 'always' be around. Though this does not suggest nothing should be done about the situation, to help, but the Bible clearly states the futility of such rather pointing folks towards God who alone can find lasting solutions for individuals and not communities or groups of people. When people quote the feeding of the 5,000 they fail to understand the context of the event. Basically he fed people 'who came to listen to him' and not just any passerby. Meaning that he takes care of those who care to be around him. And who in the course of seeking him find their material needs lagging behind. He cares for those who make sacrifices for him. Not all the 5,000 were poor just that they had been waiting on him all day and not wanting to leave and miss out found themselves hungry. They were on a camp ground without prior knolwledge of events and had no time to plan their own sustenance. I cannot recall any other time in scriptures where Jesus went about feeding anyone he found willy nilly. He only always took care of those he encountered, received and ministered to. God will only interevene in the affairs of men and by extension his servants who are wiling to come to him. Don't ever think compassion means a get out of jail card for all and sundry, even the rebellious. You have to come to him first. |
mashin:Oga, picture is not governance as voting does not mean democracy. People are not elected to pave roads and pay salaries. For heavens sake engineers and accountants do that. The governor is to enhance the overall wellbeing of his people. So don't show us the products of micromanagement. Show us the wellbeing of the least in his sphere of influence. Show us how he has, enlightened and empowered the bottom line. I am doing well for myself. I don't need a governor to take care of me but millions of folks do. How is he affecting their lives positively. |
