danniyal:Don't mind them. Instead of trying to find out what or where is his fountain of youth they are busy beefing. I myself have been trying to see if it is mummification, hibernation, meditation, cryonics or oxidation that will stop his biological clock dead in its tracks while his speedy legs propel him around the league season after season. My fear now is that at by a hundred years I wil have aged far too much to catch up with him at 23. Sigh....oh well..... |
If he demands that and insists on it, they will kill him and close the case, period. |
wheredemdey:Tribalist. Everything na village. |
tit:Hahahaha....food for thought. But Sambisa again. Haba. |
Hmmmmm......Just two cars with that huge crowd. Shoprite knows they are just tourists. No store will shut its doors to genuine business. |
Ioannes:My dear, hardwork is not enough. Smart work should follow and if not, frustration, injury and death could result. The world is not built by hardwork alone. I don't fancy her, envy her or desire that she continues with this. |
davodyguy:You need to leave home and travel around the country. You will be amazed that this is the way the food you eat gets to the village market or collection centres. People go through great lengths to get food to our tables and get very little in return. She is probably going to get no more than 1,500 or 2,000 for all that. |
TheGoodJoe:And this is also what I said about two years ago. That even if you stop corruption entirely (which is impossible, infact it is still raging at certain levels right now) it will have SCANT effect on our economy because there are far larger holes that bleed our economy and well being as a nation, not even holes, cracks, gaping crevices that relate to the way the country is structured that will not permit us to develop properly and that all the best we will see by 2019 will be superficial. It is not a Buhari cause and effect but it has to do with the thinking of Nigerians. The summary is the fact that there are no fresh ideas, no direct drive to safety and progress but rather a ceaseless resort to the past maladministration shows there is a problem. This you cannot deny if you are sincere. Surely you must be concerned internally that the government is not doing well. |
Am I supposed to contribute to this debate or just say.....I told you so. Everything I predicted will happen has happened. From policy somersaults after realization to the role of history particularly about the main actors. But my take is, since this government is not tired of political campaign may I remind them that come 2019 there will be little ammunition left and I don't think they will take it lightly if Jonathan is the reason why they may be re-elected or not. Because it appears they are hell bent on making him a campaign issue well into the next electoral cycle. Let us see how this plays out. If Nigerians cannot begin to hold this government accoutable, almost a year and a half after elections then we are sailing into an abyss. I don't know of any animal that gestates for 18 months. If there are any ideas to bring us out of this mess, they will have been evident by now. Surely the pressure of public opinion will have brought out the joker from even the meanest poker face. |
tuoyoojo:Everyone downsizes in times of recession so stop all this noise. It is sound economics to cut your expenses and if certain appointments are wasteful they will go as well to control the wage bill. The governor is right. He cannot use 100% of his revenues to serve 1% of the populace. Remember this revenue is not just natural resources but tax, VAT, etc. You have to clean the chicken coop and feed the goose that lays the golden egg. Government consumes too much resources at the expense of the economy in general. |
Quakertellicus1:Pally, it is the other way round. It is tribe and religion that formented, necessitated 'sharing'. Religion and tongue has been in existence since the Tower of Babel, generations before Nigeria got her indepdence. It is the way we have used it to degrade ourselves from man to animal that is baffling. Are we the only multi-cultural, multi-religious society. India is a typical example. We were at par economically as recently as the eighties. I had Indians as teachers throughout elementary school and as collegues at college. Today they are the engine room of global economic growth, the fastest growing large economy and is on course to hit the top three soon. They are also the largest democracy with a voting population of half a billion. They have religious populations of Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims and Christians each larger than the entire population of Nigeria, yet they can organise themselves, elect their goverments and run their country to prosperity in a just, satisfactory manner. And by the way they don't have allocations. Why is Nigeria different. What is wrong with us. |
blackpanda:Simply because the whole justice system is partial and inequitable. What people fail to realise is that these justices, lawyers and prosecutors come from somewhere. Some have partisan sympathies, others religious or sectional tendencies. When you ask them to be professional in the discharge of their duties they ask you to be professional in your agenda and advances, in the discharge of your duties. If you cannot be sincere (the government, the executive), it is ridiculous to expect and demand the other arms especially the Judiciary to be. The Head of the FBI in America is appointed by the President at the bequest of Congress. It did not stop them from investigating Hilary Clinton, Obama's natural succesor and wife of a former President who wields enormous influence. There is no way they will have indicted her but she had to go through the process in the interest of democracy and had to be cleared in detail and technicality to erase any doubt on the other side of the polity. In Nigeria, the opposite has been the case. No one from the ruling party in government especially has been questioned thoughtless of investigated, thoughtless of cleared. This anomaly is the primary reason (like it or not) why the system is not working, why the system has 'knocked', why it is being sabotaged. Of all the misadventures of Obasanjo, he had one thing going for him, he could turn on anyone and so far he is the President who has done the most in the fight against corruption, has secued the most convictions and put the largest number of persons behind bars to date. If after doing all that, corruption could not be conquered, what hope is there corruption will not thrive, explode after Buhari's tenure is over, because the malaria of corruption is 'partially treated'. We ae talking about Skye bank today because Intercontinental, Oceanic, Finbank and the rest were NOT PROPERLY DEALT WITH, they were handled, politically, partially, so lessons were not learnt and history has repeated itself. Just how many more banks are diseased? Take it from me today, the people who are spared today in the cause of political expediency are the ones who will perpetuate corruption in the future, 2019 and beyond, only that time it will be more severe. They will steal more and hide it deeper. Will we blame the Judiciary system then. Will you blame the doctor when you return to the ER with a relapse for a partially treated infection? This country is not doing well. We either restructure or collapse, period. |
KnightRod:And that inflated persona is the chief culprit behind their repeated failures internationally both at club and country levels. |
banio:MRI is not an exact science and moreover like drug testing it is conducted locally and you cannot get beyond Nigerian officials when the tyre meets the tarmac. |
KnightRod:The Premiership is like one big convex mirror. It just blows everything out of realistic proportions. |
Hmmmm.....6 in 30 is a poor return. He won't get that room from Premiership defenders. Well lets see how it goes. |
When I got to point number 3 I stopped reading, seething with anger. The corrupt, evil, greedy, manipulative, insincere, lazy, selfish and sinister habit of the Nigerian vendor that keeps him from attaching prices to items on offer is now given a colourful title called USP. What kind of rubbish is this. You go to a typical foreign website and the prices of items are displayed clearly so you can make an informed decision. You go to a typical Nigerian website and everything is 'negotiable', even toothpaste and panties. Aircraft, supercars, nuclear powered submarines have their costs/prices displayed over there. Here the vendor will expect you to call him and haggle for everythjng under the sun so he can manipulate your thinking and cheat you out of your cash. Who has time for that bull. I call no one. Nigerian vendors should work hard at getting value, getting the best prices for their customers by competition. In my profession I welcome competition because in the long run it makes me stronger and gives me the potential of getting ahead by inspiration and hard work. It is not enough to just travel out, buy stuff and seek to make a killing by exploiting the ignorance of the markets. Shoprite and the rest display prices and leave the haggling to their suppliers not their customers. The customer is not only right but must be saved of stress. This 'pepper and salt' market haggling mentality has no place in the 22nd century. No one has the time in this fast pace era and no matter how it is branded USP is not the future. If I can browse a site in China and immediately get a quote for forward planning and purchase why should I be making unncessary, expensive, stressful phone calls to someone down the road to buy the same item. USP ko, UKIP ni. |
Onyiridike:If this government continues like this, what do you expect the next government to do....yes you got it....CORRECT the imbalances. All of a sudden everything about tribe will become front and centre. What you guys don't realise is that we are in a democracy and the views of people COUNT. If people are worried to the point of open expression of views, IT WILL BECOME A CAMPAIGN POINT at the next polls, it might overshadow more important issues and politicians wil surely hijack it, spin it and grip the nation is a tribal downward vortex. Like I wil always say, a good leader de-escalates negative situations not accentuates them. |
ZUBY77:And this is what we must all avoid for democracy's sake, the parliament and the presidency in cahoots. See what it caused to successive PDP governments. OBJ's third term bid will have sailed through if he had succeeded in pocketing the House. Jonathan will have done a lot of harm if not that Tambuwal unshackled himself from the ruling party and their ways. Why people want a smooth sail for Buhari to ride roughshod over the Legislature and Judiciary baffles me.....and they will call themselves democrats. No matter his agenda, no matter how lofty his ideals, he must not have his way absolutely because absolute power corrupts absolutely and with the way certain things about this government are going now, there is a genuine cause for concern. Government cannot entirely be placed in the hands of any single individual, even if he is as pious as the pope, as wise as solomon or as go getting as Nigel Farage. |
After using him to bake the politically hot potato of subsidy removal he is left with just chips. Next thing is to send Magu after him if he squeals in any manner. |
Better than all the crap coming out these days especially from China that cannot last one calendar year. My first three phones left the stage in one piece fully functional. Since 2010 the lifespan of phones have fallen to about 3 years. If progress means exchanging durability for flicks and tricks so be it. My primary requirement remains phone calls and this has not changed since 2002. |
The wording of the report sounds as if it was written a year or two ago......abi?? |
The key to solving two opposing ideals is INNOVATION. It is not a crime to make a living. It is a fundamental human right and an obligation of government to care for its citizens, however the government cannot sit back and watch the environment, the safety and the security of the same citizens be jeopardised in the process. It js only innovation that can satisfy both parties, only ideas that can breach the divide. We should go down that lane. |
jon1:Exactly. I always love and advocate innovation. With innovation government can still merge demand with supply under controlled conditions. You talk about pure water, in the deveoped world they had public fountains and cisterns as far back as the Roman empire. These can be commecialised and leased to individuals to run. So many ideas are out there. The other day in Portharcourt I was discussing with someone on job creation and the building of public rest rooms to handle the present sanitation challenge and he just laughed it off. I went on a site inspection and wanted to relieve myself but there was nowhere, even the nearest petrol station had no toilet. I had to cut short the inspection just because of something someone could make money out of. Will everyone simply return home or to his hotel room simply to answer the call of nature. There are so many services lacking in Nigeria that could employ a large mass of people while reducing the cost of living but we as a people and the government that should organise us cannot seem to see and grasp them. The advancement of societies depend on tne constant generation of ideas to make life easier, cheaper, safer and more efficient to live. We in Nigeria on the other hand are always in a struggle with ignorance that brings about hardship while all it takes is to think our way out. |
ChimaAdeoye:Your thinking is just lousy. Just sorry for you. |
Nothing more to say about this corruption thing. |
mrkayusfit:Allow him to run for president in 2019 to confirm the bridge has reached the destination. Afterall that has been his ambition and he has been building since 1999, when will his construction reach you guys or is it like Amaechi's monorail. You and I know that the issues of the south-east has been that of equality, social justice, access to power for one reason alone, a sense of belonging to this country. So if you want the south-east to drop its antagonism, the ball is in your court and that of the APC. Make the sacrifice and push him into Aso Rock come 2019. |
He killed himself. Nothing spiritual there. Lots of people go through carelessness and ignorance. Even the Bible acknowledges that. Pastor or Vicar, you should wear a seat belt when driving and obey traffic rules. Sorry for his congregation at the unfortunate loss. |
Cattle. |
Confusing terminology or ignorance or what. First of all. A soakaway pit like the name indicates permits the flow of liquids to the surrounding earth while a septic tank is an impervious container built to hold waste, process it to separate liquids and keeps the solids till they can be evacuated in a sanitary manner, hence it is comlpetely sealed. To prolong its lifespan/reduce its operational size, it is often connected to the soakaway pit. To accomplish the process of seperating liquids from solids and optimizing the process of anaerobic reactions the septic tank should have two or more chambers. The more chambers it has the more efficient the waste processing is and the longer the system will last between evacuation (however if waste is left too long in a septic tank it eventually calcify and become extremely difficult to vacumn out, clean and will damage the tank itself). A soakaway pit however is built never to be able to fill up as long as the surrounding soils are not oversaturated as in the case of regions at or below sea level or close to the water table. Hence they can take waste water directly from bath tubs and washbasins almost forever. Kitchen waste water however containes far too much organics to discharge directly into the soakaway pit. Discharging any waste whatsoever from a building into an open drain is illegal under all building codes and violates our environmental laws and is a hazard to both the environment and the health and well being of the populace in general. Donot do it. |
tbaba1234:I'm talking from an operational point of view. Compensation and right of way does not have a time table, the terrain in too tough to conquer in that time, piling, dredging, bridges are too many. Just speaking from experience. And when they get into urban areas of Lagos, Portharcourt, etc expect a different set of challenges. Such public works even in developed countries take many more years to complete than stated. I will realistically look at anything above five years. |
