bqlekan:Hmmmm.....and you should continue celebrating big names and the bookies will continue smiling to the banks. Better enjoy football and is unpredictable nature which makes it a beautiful game rather than this.....anger, anguish and despair. |
Emeonyerichard:His argument is often off tangent. |
Yeah, Sammy is right, Hazard is a liability to most teams. The posession he like to keep slows down the team a lot. He hangs on and on and allows the opposition consolidate which does not compliment the quick break, counter attacking play of the modern game. His value will obviously dip after this tournamnet. Terrible argument in the supersport studio about this topic. Indeed Hazard in the game today and most games is a liability. |
Football remains a team game and stars though tempting......give me a team anyday....I just luv football. |
Football is crazy and I absolutely luuuuuuvvvvvvv it. |
nextstep:My own idea for these kinds of public works is to have them built almost entirely by mass labour. They are not high tech projects and don't use high tech materials or equipment to deliver, so you can have a very high local content. Granted he who pays the piper dictates who gets what but the government can double up on that project. It is called shadowing. You just copy what you see step by step, bolt by bolt, naira for yen. Unfortunately we don't have the economy neither do we have the nature or will as a nation to develop like that. Take Abuja for instance and the Julius Berger phenomenon. Every bridge they build, every culvert, every light pole is exactly alike, factory built. Why have we not been able to transfer such standards to the local industry down to mass labour works. Why haven't we been able to create an identity of high standards. We just cannot develop if we continue to outsource our infrastructure in perpetuity. The benefits of building roads and rails is not just in the economic product of a better transport network but in the processes that will strengthen the economy, prosper the people individually through jobs, create and sustain allied industry like steel. No not us, we are Nigeria that thinks it is Saudi Arabia. |
cramjones:The cost of doing business in Nigeria is higher than in most parts of the world due to the very reason the rail line is built, lack of infrastructure. Add to that the cost of security and the cost of a fragile economy. The main ingredient in rail lines is high strength steel. All those countries mentioned have a viable steel sector, we don't. Ajaokuta which should have capitalised on these projects to establish itself is moribund. Secondly, the terrain in most places the line will pass is tough, semi swamp land. The sheer number of bridges and culverts to be built will rival costs of tunneling and blasting through mountainous regions. Nigeria is expensive to build corruption apart. When we were saying they should open up other seaports outside Lagos to commercial activities and allow those already built to thrive, the owners of Nigeria under influence said they prefer a Lagos monopoly. Guess what, every tax payer will pay the 'sentimental tax' through 300, 500, 800, 1000 kilometer haulage costs of Chinese steel from Apapa to site locations perhaps just 20, 50, 100 kilometers from the nearest port of Calabar, Warri or Portharcourt. This is the real corruption. |
Boscojugunu:Onshore expenses, compensation, insurance and......embezzlement of course. Wetin concern you. |
jmoore:It cannot be completed in that time span but it is a great development. Rail is a far better mode of transport and its advantages are simply incalculable. For one, it will prolong the lifespan of our roads and reduce the overal cost of production. Good news for the economy. |
sweatlana:And our ancestors had cowries, yam barns, cattle, wealth aplenty but they did not have vaults, banks and insurance. Your reasoning on this matter is equally primitive. Why not go round dressed in sheep skin then. There is no excuse for this. It is just a race to the bottom of what humanity is left and IT WILL PROMOTE AND ESCALATE rapes, muggings and other anti-social behaviour because it is in itself anti-social. And I am not the type to try to be a politically correct slowpoke by failing to relate one to the other. |
tibaonnet:I am speaking about Amaechi specifically. His case has been reported to the EFCC for almost a year now. Fayose should answer. Why hasn't Amaechi been investigated by the EFCC, period. Stop deflecting. |
Without restructuring, corruption can never end. Like matter it will only take another form. Nigeria is a place where the constitution empowers its citizens to practice every illegality possible in the quest for the Nigerian dream. Sack them and the next set will do the needful. All you have done is to shuffle the deck of cards.....just wasting their time. I said corruption is still going on massively, based on the information and reports I constantly get in various MDA's and arms of government. Letting the information out is the difficulty. |
I thought someone said the EFCC doesn't do states, only Federal so how come it is doing Benue and will do Suswam but it cannot do Rivers and Amaechi. This thing is confusing. |
timilehing:Yes there is. And it gives you explicit instructions on how, when and in what circumstance to change lanes. Its in the traffic code. |
emi14:Yeah, you got it, that Yaradua highway and its intersecting brother, the longer, Nnamdi Azikiwe. Very annoying. The authorities should also do something about the bottleneck caused by parking cars at the Berger flyover especially in the mornings. It is very, very dangerous. You have cars coming at top speed from the Maitama axis and those from Yaradua meeting there. This present FCT administration is doing little in terms of road way/traffic enforcements. |
Yeah its bad even here in Abuja. The worst is when driving across bridges and flyovers, you see a vehicle right in the middle and you have no shoulder to pass by. Another is having slow moving vehicles and trucks on the speed lane forcing you to overtake on the right hand side, their blind side even after honking tirelessly. On the highway some especially trucks will be 'dating', crawling side by side and blocking both lanes forcing vehicles to overtake on the shoulder which is extremely dangerous. |
Football eh. Portugal never win one single match. 5 draws and semi finals. Na waoh. |
AccessME:You are in Lokoja just besides the mighty river Niger and all its hydro potentials and you are here talking about Niger Delta gas line vandalism. Are you nuts. Nigerians eh.... |
rotexteymie:That is Nigeria for you where image and money is more important than lives and humanity. Someone sent that man, not to care for the injured or the dead, but to protect the business. Nigerians can be vile. Now is there any government agency responsible for issuing mass transit licenses. It should suspend that of PMT immediately and look into the operations of the company with a view to finding out, what the hell is going on and bring any defaulting official to justice. |
ultra100:Better withdraw or modify your statement obviously made out of passion. What is more important than the history of your country and keeping it for yourself and your children as the light into the future. The Library of Congress in the US is filled with such publications detailing people and events of American history. Peoples study these to make informed future decisions. But when your life is all about social media and Telenovelas how won't you be led by the nose to the slaughter. These people, politicians know we dont read, we don't inquire and don't care. They know we are driven only by sentiments and that's why they constantly play the sentimental cards off section, tribe and religion most folks tap into. Continue like this and the Jonathan so hated as a failure and removed today may come back to be elected and to rule your children because this is EXACTLY how it happened in 1984. I cannot see what is more important now than people writing about this government and keeping it in a vault together with all that has happened to Nigeria since independence. |
dejavubobo1:Every government since independence did it in every commercial sector in Nigeria. If Nigeria Airways existed till this day, it will have continued. So we should be glad it is dead and not there further eroding our public finances. If you are an undisciplined man, it is pointless going into business. It is better you seek employment where you will be compelled to perform. Nigeria is not a disciplined nation so we cannot have national businesses. |
Contradictory write up, as usual, full of historicals and sentiments but lacking in salient truths about the real situation. You wonder why other African countries have national airlines and Nigeria doesn't, question the 'pocketisation' that led to its funeral but acknowledge the airline was murdered by pimps, prostitutes and partying politicians. So where do you stand and how can you fulfill your desires for a ressurection when all the underlying elements remain till this day. What is your solution then. My view is that, as not every man or woman should be in the institution called marraige, not every man or woman should get a college degree to make it in life, not every country should have a national carrier or an airline industry because it is abundantly clear, whether government or private, the airline busines just doesn't work in Nigeria or for Nigerians and this can be extended to most top end services and allied industries such as travel and tourism. We just donot know how to do it. We donot have the financial capacity across board to make it a viable business (currently it remains elitist and no transportation means can afford to cater for only a section of the populace when it has to compete with rail and road for passengers and goods). We are not ethical and honest enough to run airlines (because worldwide profit margins are always tight and the industry remains the most vulnerable means of transport to oil price changes). We donot have the expertise to handle the industry (how many universities offer any course related to the industry, how many aviation schools are there, how many hangars, how many simulators, etc). And we donot have the administrative, logistical, political structures to broaden the industry. How many private airports, airstrips, helipads. There is not a single one I know. No single building in Central Area, Abuja or Marina, Lagos has a helipad. Why, they will tell you security. The same security that held radio stations and telecommunications in the hands of central government for years under military rule for fear of coups. These are the things that must be changed and established in a unique country like Nigeria before a viable industry can be created and a national carrier established. And even then how many developed countries have government running airlines? |
pippimp:The problem stares you in the face day after day. Nigerians do not work, donot create, donot produce. |
You really know when the recession has no light at the end of the tunnel, when banks completely cease to offer credit. The freezing of the banks is what the government must avoid at all costs. There is no reason and no excuse for this. They can reverse TSA for a fixed period called 'stimulus' and compel them to repay with interest when the cycle is over. |
ChukwuIbrahim:And they will be the first to complain that nothing is working in Nigeria. |
PearlStreet:And what makes corpers better than bricklayers when the only thing money is exchanged for is skill, risk or effort. Which of these does a corper excel in above a bricklayer. |
BiafraBushBoy:Number 6 is for you. |
He should have resigned since last year. Seperation of powers, checks and balances I totally support but not on this basis. When you become sentimental the executive are, you open yourself to unnecessary disputes which weakens the institution you represent. No man can and should be bigger than the seat he occupies. |
Triczchic:Do you call a farmer who raises chickens with utmost care for several months only to sell them to the slaughter a hypocrite. He knows perfectly well what he is doing. It is the chickens who are highly mistaken. They call you that for THEMSELVES, not you, to soften the iron so they can beat it into shape whenever they are ready to make steel. Compliment, hahaha.... |
sinaj:But that is what it is. Sexy is derived from sex. The men know where they are going with it but it is the women that don't and presume it is a compliment. They tell you, you look sexy and you think it is equivalent to being conferred with a Ph.D......ha. It is not a compliment, it is a judgement that your looks, your acts, your behaviour is an animal instict percussor. Then you gals think you can still control the outcome of those signals.....hmmm. |
foolinlove:They are not worthy of respect, period. Everyone puts his best foot forward most of the time. If this is the best they have to offer then..... |
idupaul:Even if he had no other expenses throughout his career and we know most soldiers for one thing, their excesses. But I will always refrain from speculating where or how a typical Nigerian amounts to the wealth he commands because it is futile. Corruption is so systemic that it could be that, he never stole but could have been advanced the funds by banks, contractors, etc in anticipation or as a reward of future or past patronage. Corruption is so, so complex. There are just no structures in Nigeria that can ever checkmate it. |
