DAVIES27:Airtel is poor in the South-South. |
For me Etisalat takes the cake. It all started out as three private lines but they've all gone out. They are simply the best. Voice, data, rural, urban, Abuja, Lagos, Portharcourt, works well everywhere. You can't say the same for other providers who I assume target particular locations for quality and let others rot. |
ismart:I thought to comment but changed my mind....just scary. |
Bugatie:I watched 'Fury' starring Brad Pitt last night. I think you should seriously reconsider. |
ocelot2006:Are you serious. Military personel donot wear mufti on duty. DMI personnel are military and they donot do personal protection. They are an intelligence outfit. Those guys will be DSS personnel. |
LMAyedun:I think it has to do with the pre-election debates about the persona of the two candidates, one outgoing, loud and ostentatious while the other an introvert, consetative and frugal. The debate will rage on for a while yet. I think the PDP folks will be looking at this as another sign the ppre-election hyoe was exactly that, a hype and things have not really changed. The jets are still there, the expensives limousines and the retinue of aides. I remember saying then that in a country such as ours with the diversity we have to sort out, it will be next to impossible to live like a hermit and spend like a nun. If he goes around unguarded he won't last a fortnight. Even in the 80's as HOS roads were routinely closed for hours on end whenever he was coming around. That is normal. As to the much vaunted frugality, to me it is just touch and go. I won't comment on his private life or that of the late Tunde Idiagbon even in the hey days of the anti corruption movement. Friends, family and close associates can do better. |
They admit they are not producing anything yet they want salary increases and yes, promotions, wait for it, because prices in the market place have gone up. See how government has ruined enterprise. This is exactly why the privatisation of the telecoms and that of power are so, so different. NITEL was allowed to fail, to go bankrupt, PHCN was given lifelines, kept on life support so the evil seed has refused to die for private enterprise to germinate. I am sure like the PHCN, Dangote inherited both the wheat and the chaff left by government. The very people who ran the company aground costing tax payers billions yearly, producing nothing want to run Dangote aground. The man will simply jump and pass. I am certain if you evict the entire workforce and replace them with Chinese or Indians on the same salary, the plant will spring to life. I don't think Dangote has locked the workers in the plant the way it is done in some Asian sweat shops. The hinges have not been welded neither are the workers in chains. If they cannot produce goods are create wealth for Mr. Dangote they are free to resign and join government where it is mandatory to be paid and paid well irrespective of productivity. |
I hardly post topics. This subject was one I did very early on in my membership. It is a question that baffles Nigerians. It is a question that has defined our society. Poster. Is it right for Julius Berger to build houses and hand over the keys to government officials as gifts. Is it right for banks to take billion naira deposits from government officials earning regular salaries. Is it right for custom officers to auction contraband goods meant for destruction. All these seemingly straight forward questions will be lost on a lot of people and I will be surprised if it doesn't generate debate when ordinarily it shouldn't. |
The government seriously needs to do something about that Calabar/Ikom road. It is in very bad shape and the Biase sdction is just terrible. I can understand how this kind of accident happened. I call it a road not a highway because I cannot imagine how and why it hasn't been dualised to ease passenger traffic and enhance safety. If I'm not mistaken Cross River is the only State whose capital is not accessible by a dual carriage-way despite it being one of the oldest states, a port city and growing industrial hub resulting in heavy vehicular movement. |
chukkiephil:Even if they played till Christmas these girls didn't look like scoring. |
Okay, we are out. Falcons can fly so they don't need tickets home. |
Baby come hooooooome....... |
True, true, indeed they are Falcons. They don't need plane tickets home, they can simply fly. |
Poor week for Nigerian footy. These girls should just cut us some slack abeg. |
What did I just say. Now we will begin to play. The Nigerian brain eh.....just primitive. |
Because they are not behind and chasing the game there is no pep, no urgency and lots of wasted moves. Talk about the infamous Nigerian mentality. |
ijustdey:Stop accentuating this Tinubu thing abeg, you are dividing your party. You seem to have forgotten that you are now in power and there should be decorum and introspection. The battles fought over the past week have been internal party ones. Doesn't it worry you. Don't you think you should be putting a lid on sectional politicking. What nonsense force to be reckoned with. Is Tinubu fighting anyone in the APC. Better stop opposing and start governing. All these red-neck supremacy is getting you nowhere. Continue this strong man bragadoo and watch the north turn against you with dire consequences. Be wise. |
zubby29:What I wonder is: You collect allocations monthly. Even if it is 50% of what you were collecting in the boom days, why can't you pay either 50% of the workers, do a 50% wage cut or pay 50% running debts. Can it be that he isn't paying anyone anything. I seriously doubt that. Those in the know should speak up. If the state files for bankruptcy. The courts can shield its allocation from creditors temporarily while the state restructures its finances. At least the weight of public opinion both within and outside the state will force the powers that be to favour the workers first before contractors and creditors. Rauf should do something. He can't just sit there twiddling his thumbs waiting for hell to freeze over. If the unions demand he pays interest on the acrruals, what in the world will he then do. He has to act fast. My projections on the price of crude oil going forward is not good. |
Destinyfavour:Because corruption unfortunately is what the other man does. |
ARKdiscloser7:Ah, ah. They can't do your job for you the opposition. They are in power, it is up to you to inform the public and cause a disquiet in the polity by demonising them. They did that effectively and are in power. Do you think they will shoot themselves in the political foot. Think again. |
Lionsclaw:Hmmm. |
babyosisi:Hahaha You're a silly girl. Abeg free the man oh. Hahaha. |
APC launching offensive to regain seats from APC. Am I missing something here. Is this a tacit admission that Saraki and Dogara are lost to the PDP or will possibly be expelled soon. |
forgiveness:That is why Clinton famously said what Africa needs is strong institutions not strong men. You guys were all hailing the dexterity and political sagacity of the Jagbajan. Without a doubt we owe the man for broadening and deepening democracy in Nigeria but at what cost to the institution of the APC. Even as we speak, some are still railing about how Tinubu will 'deal' with Saraki a co-member of the party. How can this 'build'. What exactly is the difference between the two men. None. Both men have equally undermined the APC as a party. Both men want the same thing so by simple iteration they should cancel each other out and let the party as an institution grow. Or continue their power show and blow it all to pieces. It is their choice. My exasperation is about folks like you who switch between personality cultism and institutional supremacy at will. You simply cannot rely on both. They are mutually exclusive. Institutional building requires selfless sacrifice and I cannot over-emphasize that. The APC must do or die. |
otr1:Aha. That is where the APC should be strategically looking. No one has said that so far. The only way you can deal with Saraki is to undermine him from his roots, yes his constituency. How strong is the APC 'leadership' in Kwara relative to Saraki as an institution in Kwara. Have the APC been building institutions in the states they have conquered or have they been leveraging on indigenous 'strong men' to keep these territories. If you are a history buff you will have encountered stories of great empires where these errors have been made time and again. When you conquer a territory what do you do with its king, make him a regent or cut his head off and appoint a traitor in his place. If the APC can answer this question it will go a long way to decide whether it can keep its territories in the midst of strong opposition. I remember telling someone that the APC handled the south-south very badly. That must be the reason we hardly hear from Amaechi these days. Is Amaechi an asset or a liability to the APC south-south project. Did the APC leverage on the man too much at the expense of building a genuine, broad, pan-delta grass-roots movement. Does it have that capacity in Kwara. That is the question. Fighting Saraki front and centre in the Senate will be like the battle of Iwo Jima where the victors wished they were defeated for the sheer scale of the losses on both sides. Better to undermine him from within, quietly and effectively. But to do that you need serious investments in structures on ground jn the theatre of battle - his constituency. |
I think both sides of the argument are correct. We need to thank her (and indeed a lot of folks back in Zimbabwe do thank her) for the courage and tenacity exhibited. We all want to see Mugabe tackled because quite frankly he has destroyed that country. We should all note that the world is now a global village. Issues of sovereignty are no longer black or white (no pun intended). Today a Nigerian State claiming total independence invited the very Zimbabwian white farmers to invest in our agricultural sector comatosed by so called independent Nigerian leaders and farmers. And by the way, the imported farmers can buy and own such lands till eternity for that matter. And I can partly excuse her actions which I put down to the excitement of the chance meeting with Mugabe, a feat which Sahara will never have and most likely never will achieve again. I just put it down to poor training, poor preparation, unprofessionalism, like most things in Nigeria. However she did not handle it well, gained very little (in that instance) and may attract ratings but perhaps not more. Yes she was rude. No producer who works hard at 'getting the interview' will view this favourably. I just hope she works hard and wish her the best ahead. |
solonazzy:Life after him will be like life after he was ousted in 1985. That is why you should invest more in the game rather than the players. Players come and go, it is the game that matters. What you should be asking is, how do we produce a constant stream of quality leadership. Answer - Restructure. |
yommyflo:Prophetic words from Hon. Femi. They built the institution he lives in today. We are slowly developing. We are nearing the stage where realizing the impact of what we say and do will mitigate our present actions. I hope the PDP in opposition is learning how to and not to oppose. |
Delphi:Good observation. The visit sends bad signals. The heat of his emergence is still on and he should be sympathetic to the feelings of the party members in general. I think both he and Saraki want to drive home an independence message to both sides of the polity. That he is open for business to the PDP and he is not going to always tow the party line to the APC. Is this fence sitting good? Time will tell. But my philisophy says no. Lets just hope its nothing more than 'pressing the flesh'. |
applord:I think this Vice President thing is beginning to get to me and with every picture you guys dig up, it is actually saddening. To see him a million miles away looking rejected is not good while the President sits comfy with his pals. If the critical thinking was a balance between APCwest and APCnorth, between moslem and christian, between politician and technocrat then it may not be worth it afterall. Is Buhari trying to prove that he should have been allowed to make his choices or is the contest for other positions such as the ministerials causing suspicion and this 'cold shoulder'. Any way the APC had better sort it out fast, permit Buhari to 'lead' the oarty inDEED. Which means give him a free hand and tow his ideology. When he says 'I am willing to work with....', it means the APC should cease fire against the Legislature and get to work. |
vigasimple:That is my fear honestly. And to think some people were even saying the rest Plateau PDP legislators will defect to the APC is just sad and shows how Nigerians and most on this forum are so, so arrogant in ignorance. The APC can see what is happening with the PDP defectors in the National Assembly and beyond and it wants more. Are you guys actually sane. Why not win seats by popular votes out of good governance which is lasting rather than by subversion and scheming which is temporal and finicky. The Plateau House has a slight PDP majority led by the APC. Explore the benefits of rigorous debates rather than seek the death of your opponents. The black man is essentially backwards because of jaundiced thinking like this. Obama will not pray for the success of the Republican Party in the US but he will not pray for the death of it either and he will be terrified the day John McCain says he will be defecting to join his party not welcome him with open arms. Even in church you hear the black man screaming for the death of his enemies including the devil simply because they lack understanding. As if God is mistaken. Your adversity is simply there to produce a better you. Without a Real Madrid there will be no Barcelona. Without a Manchester United there will be no Chelsea, without a Satan there will be no Pa Adeboye. The public needs to understand that its true dividend of this democratic project is only realizable by two strong, independent political parties competing for the hearts and minds of the public through acts of good governance. Stop these cave manic behaviour. |
It appears as if a section of the APC has taken note of Atiku's moves and is trying to create a picture of his anti party activities with two misleading images. This is undoubtedly clear evidence that the APC structure is damaged. I cannot see the party maintaining cohesiveness for much longer. A split is inevitable now. Not how but when. |
