Congrats to FC Barcelona. Best team in the world, well deserved. |
It is certain Vidal has wagered 100,000 dollars on himself getting sent off. |
Great Barca players but I hate their love affair with the turf. |
mukina2:Ow. But I read reports he had virtually signed and his type of player makes a whole lot of sense. He's a good player. |
Vidal is in a hurry to go somewhere this night. Perhaps his holidays were mis-booked. Mukina, is he going to Arsenal? |
fillmeup200:Well they put him in and according to our culture he has to satisfy them, first. |
After 4 years all we will be hearing is: 'he was a good man, it is the people surrounding him'. That is the story of Nigeria. |
They will not be able to do anything about it. It is too wide and deep. |
'Suspected armed robbers' is symptomatic of what Nigeria has turned to, a nation in suspicion of anything and everything. Where rumour and colourful tales thrive no thanks to the media that has refused education and advancement despite the huge potentials of commerce brought about by the internet. To the point. Why not just report the incident as witnessed. In my part of the world they are simply known as burglary because all the evidence so far points in that direction. And until it is proven that they were 'armed' and they further obtained the money by force of arms, then we should leave it at that because according to the law the penalties for both differ as a matter of life for burglary and death for armed robbery. |
The people of the west have rolled the dice and gambled on power in the centre as against quality governance locally, that's why no one can talk. In history great empires are oft not humbled by external adversity but by internal revolt. If the APC fails to become a democratic party it will suffer the same fate as the PDP it replaced. The issue of state debts are entirely economic and so they need economic solutions. Since Aregbe has a political mandate he can afford to trade that for economic gains by cutting social programs, cutting the workforce and cutting overheads. He should invest in the tools of short term productivity. He must re-evaluate his relationship with the party at the centre and review downwards his allegiances if he is not getting help so that the people of Osun will spread their tirade across board. Blame for this mess is collective. The people for wrong political choices, the party for not evolving into a true democratic institution and the government for shielding the people from the realities of a failing economy all for cheap votes. |
kenonze:They bank by appointment and are likely to do theirs 'after hours' or 'out of location'. This move may also check Nigerians living illegally abroad but operating black accounts here in Nigeria. You will have to come out of hiding, return to Naija then face the long trek back abroad. |
Guk:I assume this is just monetary policy in action measured out to check inflation resulting from past and perhaps anticipated currency devaluation. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the BVN in principle. |
It will be a great idea if eventually it is able to unify the customer across his banks. It puts the customer front and centre of banking operations. To me its like opening an account with the CBN. What I expect now is the that the BVN replaces the traditional account number (not complements it) and that any card that emerges should be universal across all banks for multiple account operators. It is a good move. The FRSC's target is to operate such a system for motor vehicle registrations, the NCC less so for the number portability which will have been great. If one can imagine the 'number of numbers' one has to keep up with in everyday life from banking to communication to investment, education, transportation, employment to entertainment, it is just staggering. In an ideal world one number should do it all....but you know....what religion will say.... |
seunmsg:So with his rap sheet you feel he is okay to run for leadership of the Lower House. Let me ask you. Can you personally employ him to take care of your critical business offices. You can see what the problem of this country is. If we don't tackle these kinds of issues the fight against corruption is just a waste of time. I repeat again, corruption is NOT the most important problem bedevelling this country. |
fashoo2010:And that my friend is a very good thing and proves we are moving in the right direction as far as political development is concerned. There are two sides to the fight against corruption - the hard power application which involves prosecution of offenders and the soft power approach which involves incentifying potential offenders not to commit. As Jonathan spoke, by sealing all areas of temptation but also of making access to office of past offenders (in whatever crime comitted wherever) a very hard task. It is so in any developed country and is the way to go in the future for us. That is what lawyers should do know in their spare time and the public should give them the needed support including informatiin that maybe inaccessible ordinarily. |
I'm totally against this. These chaps enjoy the trappings and perks of office for so many years, that they donot need to draw on their wages during and after their tenures of office. People will still offer them money and gifts for anticipated favour and as 'thank you sir' till their last days on earth. What the hell do they need 'severence' for in top of all that. Should we be paying them to leave? What are we compensating them for..... being voted out? |
'Gangs of New York'. We will evolve out of this primitivism. |
ify84:This is a distant but very real possibility. I am shocked and surprised that there has been unprecedented socio-economic and security turbulence in the wake of the elections even though the political transition went well. It is as if the whole country just shut down. Whatever is causing this had better be addressed immediately. I could remember driving through to the east on the 28th, even most military checkpoints were deserted. And uptil now some security details have failed to come online. Hmmm. |
nairalandist:Yes, because money is all you know about and all you care about - poverty mentality. Then when a virus emerges or flood water rises, you shout government!!, government!!! |
Very nice. Trying to give style and colour to our bland food. |
nagoma:My friend think straight. You do not conduct investigations in the middle of a conflict. What do you think the possible effect on planning and operations will be. Amnesty named the most senior military officers. Who will be the witnesses in any investigations, Who will be witnesses for and against the accused, the very top brass that is busy planning and prosecuting this war. This nonsense is ill-timed and a hopeless distraction and lends credence to the assertion that this whole conflict has deep political roots because AI feels it can take advantage of a new government to gain traction while failing to recognise that the overall interest of the nation is at stake. I cannot over emphasize that the military is the last hope oe the Nigerian State and her people. It is the oldest and strongest institution we have. It is apolitical, detribalised, moderate, centrist. It is nobody's sectional or religious plaything and it has resisted all attempts to ridicule, divide and discredit it. That's why we still have a country. We will get to the levels AI prescribes. For now we have our own rules of engagement that tows the line of our administrative and operational competencies. When we have AWACS, smart munitions, satellite guidance and an intel inventory to match the world's best, we will attain global standards of smart warfare. For now we have to torture to extract information and terminate any enemy combatants found actively operating in the theatre. We have no choice. |
kingslly:Hmmm. Well corruption in Nigeria is what the other man is doing or has done. |
I just love democracy. Interesting times ahead. |
bushdoc9919:The average Nigerian cannot but prove he or she is above and beyond others. It is in our DNA. |
wowo2:That's what I'm saying. He hasn't even begun to preside and this already, so you can imagine what will happen when he begins to properly govern and things donot go smoothly, the venom then, and remember all this is by the masses on personal media alone. What will happen when organised party opposition regroups and begins to oppose perhaps months down the line. Interesting times ahead. |
DExplorer1:Of course. The biggest selling point of GMB is his perceived frugal, ant-graft persona and the opposition will seek to erode that stand continuously over the preceding months and years. APC supporters will have no option than to fight back because governance in Nigeria is tough and mud sticks very easily here. |
LKO:Told you so. You guys caused it partially. |
omenka:Told you guys it will be bad. And its gonna get worse. Nigerians take things to extremes. Too bad. |
thepatroit:Were you guys not destabilising them for political gains. 'Buhari will sack this, Buhari will sack that. You stupid people politicize the military then expect them to perform. If you are not certain whether you will have a job tomorrow, if you are not certain of united support from your country, why on earth will you put yourself in harms way for a mob. You who is critical of the military, do you put your country first? Isn't it sectional, clannish politicking you do all day long. You can't get out of a system more than you are prepared to put in. I said it weeks ago. The military will not change after May 29th. Instead the little capabilities and performances put up in the run up to the elections are being eroded by corrosive politicking at the expense of many lives. Shame on Nigerians. |
Built2last:There is virtually nothing he can or should do about the legislature or judiciary. Its not his turf. He should allow them evolve naturally. If there are unpalatable issues it is up to the electorate to address them and we have enough tools to do that if we want to. We are just too lazy and docile. Everyone wants Buhari to do everything even at the expense of their liberty. Believe you me, you don't want him interfering in those institutions. If you want to change something just go do it yourself. |
Nobody ever learns. Just as with the PDP, democracy is breaking down In the APC. Nigerians are the same anywhere they are. This is simply to knock-out Saraki but there will surely be recriminations now or later. The split is coming far earlier than I thought. I said it. The party has far too many ambitions and egos for the positions and appointments on offer and power will always find its equilibrium. This is not good. They didn't say democracy was the best form of government for nothing. Without a fair contest there will be trouble. |
yogun:Hmmm. First it was 24hrs, then 48hrs, then 3 days, now one week.......then..... |
