jorlons:It is for your own good even if you donot like it for whatever reason I can't understand. It was a good idea to put the Jonathan government under pressure to perform. It was good enough to change the government hopefully for good. So why is it such a bad idea all of a sudden if you don't have ulterior motives towards the government. |
jorlons:The APC raised the bar in partisan opposition. It is our hope that the PDP takes it to another level and puts pressure in double quick time. It is for our collective good even to your consternation. |
Dollyak:Then the backwardness of Nigeria is not about government but the limitations of the people. What you are saying in effect is that until the average Nigerian is educated we can change government till eternity, as long as they use the same organisational formula, development will remain superficial. It is the structure afterall. |
hadura29:Hahaha. You want me to laugh this Sunday afternoon. Which Nigerians. The sectional, tribal or racist ones. Why do you choose to pretend this holy day. |
Dollyak:So why aren't we being realistic in not expecting the best from government when we cannot give our best as a people in overlooking tribal sentiments. Nigerians are the problem of Nigeria not government. The limitations to the 'change' regime is set by the people. They removed Buhari in 85 and they will determine whether he succeeds this time around. |
KingsJohnson:Never put your trust in man. I just pity you. What you are asking for does not matter at this level of our development. Whether you accept it or not both men will corruptly enrich themselves, their families and associates. As long as they broaden and deepen democracy while elevating national consciousness and of course restructuring. I don't expect western style probity in a 16 year old democratic journey in a 55 year old country. |
hadura29:And who is the 'we'. |
Nemeka:So what if the best, brightest and most suitable come from the north. Should Buhari reform or should you reform. Who or what is the hindrance to our development. Who needs to 'change', the government or the people. |
Dollyak:Until we re-structure your fears will continue. Nigeria has real and serious issues beyond quality of governance. Tar all the roads, provide power 24hrs, it won't solve the fundamental problems this country has. As a matter of fact there cannot be sustainable development until we tackle those fundamental issues. Most Nigerians just donot understand how this country works or why it has failed to work since independence. |
An interesting four years ahead. I just love democracy. The boot is on the other foot hahaha. |
If it it SARS he may have just lost his life. They regularly execute robbery suspects. In Nigeria, without protective laws it is suicide to help anyone, ANYONE, I repeat ANYONE!!!! with a gun shot wound without express police permission at the highest levels. |
bushdoc9919:Then good for you. You are a model citizen. |
front247:I said it before when GEJ was in power and I say it again. Insulting your President gets you no where. Insulting your President is like spiting your face because the President is the aggregate of the people's likeness. It is as bad as the over 'excitement' pervading the land of the people who cannot build for themselves a decent society, a people who cannot think and act to organise themselves. I have little or no expectations of these 'leaders' in the way and manner Nigerians do so I will never take offense to the point of insulting them. It is pointless. |
Homguy:Let me take you up on this because your thinking needs elevation. Water, light, policing, immigration, fuel supply, courts, food supply, agriculture, military operations, abeg which one should stop or 'change' because leadership changes. So what is the talk of 'he just resumed yesterday' got to do with the insurgency. The insurgents don't give a damn about the swearing in, why should the army. Is Buhari going to fight Boko Haram by himself? He has an army and it will be delusional to think it is GEJ's army, now Buhari's army. It is Nigeria's army. Nothing has or will change except for political decisions. If political decisions will win the war, fine. I think not. All they will do is further damage to institutions. It is people like you I pity. Politicising everything, undermining institutions, hoping in individuals. That is not how nations work. Leadership is important no doubt but it is the product of a functional system not at the expense of it. The United States military did not change between Bush and Obama just its mandate. Capacity is institutional, the engine. Politics, leadership is directional, the steering. Nigerians donot know the difference between the two. |
bushdoc9919:It is now you realise it affects all. It is now you realise the dividing line between governance and politics. It is now you know what proper role you and I have to play in certain national issues. When I say nations are forged in the crucible of adversity, this is what I mean. When I say whoever leads this country with the aim of placating its people thereby encouraging irresponsible, unpatriotic, selfish behaviour all in the name of national cohesion thus maintaining the status quo is an enemy to this nation in the same manner a father who refuses to train his wards, this is it. I hope GMB will tow the line of GEJ and expose the people of this country for who they are. A corrupt, hypocritical, irresponsible people wishing for things they have no intention of getting and having no capacity to actualising. |
dunkem21:I'm afraid you are 12 hours late and if no one blamed Obasanjo and the late Yaradua for the insurgency, no one can blame GEJ. So who gets the blame. Of course GMB. He is the C-in-C (the only one responsible according to Nigerians). We will see what happens by Monday. My guess is, the goal post of blame will be shifted. Nigeria is not a nation of patriotic responsible citizens. |
folabayo1:Hmmm. In your wisdom is that a good thing or bad thing. Think carefully before you reply. Think very carefully. |
Same Nigerians will wind her up, push and push until she is pushed off the cliff into the abyss of bad decisions then like the devils they are turn round and mock her. By 2019 all we will be hearing is, 'oh, she's such a nice lady, it is those surrounding her that are evil'. Please leave this lady alone you evil people. Let them work. |
Drinkwater:That is it. It is all about the game. Not the players or the teams. Just the game. |
niggi4life:That should be the objective of a competitive, virile democracy not the juvenile mudslinging we oft see at Press Time. |
dadexcel:The best days of the APC are long gone. |
soe:Leadership is never the problem. It is the people that make Nigeria what it is. You are a good citizen. Pity. |
fx45:I'm afraid but that is exactly how at least the first tenure will play out. What worries me is not Buhari, (we know what he's all about) but the people. What role should they play in making the new government succeed or otherwise. No one is saying what they will do, just what Buhari will do. So after 4 years very little is accomplished simply because only one man drives everything. The others sabotage or at best do nothing. Democracy is a game of numbers. What Nigeria will become by 2019 is what the majority of Nigerians believe it will become inspite of Buhari, and what I see quite frankly doesn't encourage me. |
colossus2:Better cheer up or it will be a long four years for you. |
laurel03:This is not what you people said before oh. You have started slipping, sliding and stuttering when you realise you...yes, you are not ready to do the change you profess, now that the fall guy GEJ is gone. Let us see who the blame will fall on from Monday. |
cococandy:My dear, it is not. It is the one thing for which God permits a divorce. I use the word 'permit' with every sense of responsibility. He doesn't 'order' or 'compels' us to. If the parties can repair the damage, so be it. |
skentelelady:There is no difference whatsoever between a sixty year old man and a forty year old woman in terms of the ageing effects on looks, physique, sexual prowess and libido. Normal women age and burn out faster than men. This woman represents a small percentile, the sexually hyper active with a malfunctioning moral compass riding on the wings of an evil spirit. But what's with these third world press reports. If you have the facts why can't you simply name names. What is the meaning of 'a certain Jane Doe working in Generation X bank'. It is when facts are hidden that rumour prevails. May we know her please. |
Just seeing this thread. Well what can I say. Obviously the best leader this country ever had. No President has advanced the course of democracy as you have. No other president has taken the country closer to 'breaking point' to test the limits of her structure and state of her union. No other President has demystified the office of the President by de-centralizing authority thereby paving way for the berthing of proper institutions. These are the things that matter. Hopefully your acts will inspire a new order of pan-Nigerianism and the asp'rations of every man and woman from no matter what social background, tribe, creed and religion to serve humbly and leave when their time is done. Wish you the best ahead in your life, career and with those you hold dearest. Bye. |
His entire Chocolat Royal staff will know he's been selling poison for decades. Cool FM and Wazobia staff will have heard the rumour coming out of head office for years but as usual the Nigerian in us, (the reason why I say corruption is not a government agency but a Nigerian religion that can never be eradicated) has concealed, promoted, aided and abetted this crime for this long. I'm sure some of them have been at the fore front of 'change' and his radio stations have been 'critical' of government and his staff making noise all over Nairaland. People who know people and people who understand this country just smile at the drama day by day. Anyone whose salary is paid by this company knowing what they do is an accessory . If government officials can be blamed so can members of the public because the objective is the same, some financial gain. You cannot expect leadership to get it right when followership is just as bad enmasse simply because leadership doesn't come from mars but from amongst the people. |
kennygee:Long term the price will fall. All it takes is the investment higher, unsubsidized prices attract. |
shamsuRana:Then expect to spend the entire budget on building new prisons and keeping inmates or descend into the oblivion of selective justice. Corruption is endemic and systemic. It cannot be tackled by any government under this system. |
obliks:APC fan about to hit political turbulence? No place to hide after Monday. The time of rhetoric and gamesmanship is over. |
