There are large Cashew plantations in the east. So I dnt see any problems if He doesnt build one in Nigeria. I have seen a great deal of cashew plantations right from Enugu to Abia state. It's one of the major cash crops around the zone. He's scared of the competition. |

There's a story about a minister who drank 42cups of tea and fainted. He was unaware of d british mannerism of turning his cup upside down to indicate he didnt want to b further served thus the cup was continously filled, and our man drank on and on, not wanting to appear rude by not finishing whatever his 'kind' host served him. Jos—Former Head of State Yakubu Gowon has decried the increasing level of insecurity and wanton destruction of lives and property in the country describing it as a cause for concern. Speaking at a lecture to commemorate his 77th birthday in Jos yesterday, he said the senseless killings and other acts violence against fellow Nigerians should end. He said: “I am worried about what is happening in various parts of this country today. The level of man’s inhumanity to man is quite unfortunate.” In his lecture, Governor Mua’zu Babangida Aliyu of Niger State said it is an impeachable offence for any state governor to refuse to hand over the reins of power to his deputy when on vacation or traveling out of the country as some have been doing. Speaking on “Inferential Variables for Securing Harmonious Co-existence in Plural Society” as part of activities to mark the birthday, he said the transfer of authority to Secretary to the State Government, Chief of Staff or others by some governors was unconstitutional. He said the importance of the position of deputy governor is underscored by the fact that a governorship ticket is incomplete without a running mate adding, “it is unconstitutional for any governor to hand over to the Secretary to the State Government or Chief of Staff when on vacation; it is a misdemeanor and an impeachable offence.” The governor commended the vision behind the establishment of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) by the Gowon Administration noting that the scheme remains one of the few uniting factors for the youth in the country and should not be scrapped as some are agitating. He stressed the need for Nigerians across different religions to plan well for their children to be able to give them quality education that will make them grow up to be useful members of society. ”The standard today is having well informed and educated children. The two major religions in Nigeria taught us about planning; no religion kicks against family planning. We must plan to give our children qualitative education and have the number we can take care of”, he said. He believed that the abolition of the indigenes-settler dichotomy as he has done in Niger State would eliminate crisis in parts of the country. He said every Nigerian should have a sense of belonging wherever they are residing. Acting Governor of Plateau State, Mr. Ignatius Longjan extolled Gowon’s virtues describing him as an epitome of peace who not only strove to keep the country united but has continued to contribute to nation building. He enjoined Nigerians to emulate Gowon’s qualities by working to keep the country united and contribute to her development at their respective levels stressing that dialogue is key to peaceful co-existence. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/10/gowon-decries-spate-of-insecurity/ |
Bauchi—THE Police in Bauchi State have arrested three suspects including a grandfather and his son over alleged conspiracy and multiple murder. Father and son were alleged to have conspired to kill his grandson for ritual purposes just as another farmer was held for killing his wife with a hoe while they were on their way to the farm. The police gave the name of the grand father as Sani Hamidu alleging that he conspired with his son, to kill his grand child, Sagiru Abdullahi, whom they removed his eyes, private part and also slashed his throat for alleged ritual purposes. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abdulmajid Ali confirmed this while parading 16 suspects arrested for alleged various criminal offences in Bauchi yesterday on behalf of the Police Commissioner, Ikechukwu Aduba. Also paraded was one Mohammed Sabo from Rigar Isamiya Darazo who allegedly killed his wife with a hoe on their way to the farm for reasons yet to be disclosed. According to Abdulmajid, the said grandfather and his son, now at large, reportedly committed the offence at Ashura Rahama village in Toro Local Government Area of the state. He also said that, after killing the young Sagiru and mutilating his body, the suspects dumped his remains into a well from where they were recovered by the police. The Commissioner however, said the son was on the run, adding that the two people will be charged to court as soon as investigations were completed for culpable homicide. Abdulmajid further said that policemen on routine patrol arrested one Sabiu Sirajo who was in possession of 18 cutlasses and 14 daggers around Peoples Club, opposite Dass Park in Bauchi, adding that a combined team of police and the Neighborhood Watch Group in Ganjuwa, acting on information, arrested two other suspects who confessed that they were specialists in attacking and robbing people of their belongings. One Adigizey Abel- John with two others were also arrested for forging his father’s cheque and faking his signature with a view to cashing N2.2million from the Bauchi branch of Oceanic Bank. “Abel and the two others left Jos, the family’s residence to Bauchi for this purpose. “To cover their act, they went to MTN office, Bauchi, and swapped Abel’s father’s SIM card number 08035633925. “One of them, Hezekiah was given the welcome back SIM pack bearing the same number to intercept bank transactions in respect of the cheque, while impersonating the father of the principal suspect,” he said, pointing out however, that the three suspects were later arrseted by men of the command’s Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, with the help of people at Wunti area of Bauchi metropolis while struggling to snatch a Toyota Camry 2002 model with registartion number BT 412 RSH valued at N3million. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/10/police-nab-3-over-alleged-killing-of-toddler-wife/ |

The United States deported nearly 400,000 people — a record high — in fiscal year 2011, according to figures released Tuesday. Only on msnbc.com Andretti remembers IndyCar racer Dan Wheldon Gadhafi's weapons of war become makeshift museum Dealers charging for unnecessary car repairs? Woman taps 'Occupy' protest to avoid foreclosure Tell your fear of losing your way to get lost Your Career: Women still can’t get a leadership break My (short) audience with the king of Bhutan Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director John Morton, announcing the numbers in Washington, said about 55 percent of the 396,906 individuals deported had felony or misdemeanor convictions. Officials said the number of individuals convicted of crimes was up 89 percent from 2008. Authorities could not immediately say how many of those crimes related solely to previous immigration violations. Individuals can be convicted of a felony for returning to the U.S. or being found in the U.S. after being ordered by the government to leave. Among the 396,906 individuals deported were more than 1,000 convicted of homicide. Another 5,800 were sexual offenders, and about 80,000 people convicted of drug related crimes or driving under the influence. "This comes down to focusing our resources as best we can on our priorities," Morton said. "We continue to hope for comprehensive immigration reform at a national level, working with the Congress, but in the meantime, we work with the resources we have, under the laws we have." The announcement comes as the Obama administration has sought to address critics on both sides of the immigration debate. Immigration advocates complain law enforcement officials are spending too much of their scarce resources rounding up families living illegally in the country who are otherwise law-abiding. Others say the administration isn't doing enough to stop the flow of illegal immigration and protect Americans from potential foreign terrorists and other criminals. Department of Homeland Secretary Janet Napolitano has said the agency is focusing its resources on criminals, recent border crossers, those who repeatedly cross the border and those people the department considers fugitives. Advertise | AdChoices Authorities say two-thirds of those deported last year either recently crossed the border or had done so repeatedly. But House Judiciary Chairman U.S. Rep. Lamar Smith, R-Texas, an outspoken opponent of Obama administration's immigration policies, called the ICE numbers inflated. He argued they include people who voluntarily agree to leave the country with no penalties and can easily return to the U.S. — especially along the border. In a statement, Smith added that under the Obama administration, worksite enforcement has dropped 70 percent. "We could free up millions of jobs for citizens and legal immigrants if we simply enforced our immigration laws," he added. In 2009, the administration shifted from high-profile workplace sweeps to less attention-grabbing auditing of I-9 forms — the documents used to verify that employees are legally eligible to work in the U.S. The department says the shift better focuses resources on the employers who draw in illegal workers to the country. The Washington, D.C.-based Immigration Forum immediately criticized the administration. "In reality, the numbers highlight a failure of our government to come to grips with our broken immigration system," the group's statement said. "At $23,000 per individual to go through the complete deportation process, immigration enforcement without fixing our broken system is not sustainable. We cannot continue to spend billions of dollars, year after year, while denying we have a more fundamental problem_that our immigration system no longer serves America well." The announcement came the same day two TV networks will air separate shows examining the immigration detention system. "Lost in Detention," on PBS' Frontline, and CNBC's documentary, "Billions Behind Bars," which examines the private prison industry and profits made from the detention of immigrants. Immigrant groups in cities across the country have organized viewing parties, protests and other events in connection with the program. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44948002/ns/us_news-life/t/us-deports-record-number-immigrants-fiscal/#.Tp4KY952Ios |

Middlesbrough have signed former Nigeria international striker Bartholomew Ogbeche until the end of the season after a successful trial. The 27-year-old, who began his career at Paris Saint Germain, scored twice in a behind-closed-doors game against Blackburn to impress boss Tony Mowbray. "He knows where the back of the net is," Mowbray told BBC Tees. "I don't want people to think we've signed Lionel Messi, but we've signed a footballer who has got a few assets." Continue reading the main story We saw enough talent to think, for nothing, at this stage of our season, we'll have a look and give him an opportunity Tony Mowbray Middlesbrough manager Ogbeche, who played for his country at the 2002 World Cup, has been without a club following his departure from Greek side Kavala in the summer. Prior to his switch to Greece in 2010, the forward played in Spain with Alaves, Real Valladolid and Cadiz, as well as spending a season in the United Arab Emirates. "He's not an 18-year-old boy," Mowbray continued. "He's 27, played for his country, played in La Liga, he's played for PSG at 17 and, for whatever reason, he ended up going to the Emirates for a year and Greece.
