You are right. The ones we see everyday do not even dream of it, at least yet. However before you rule yourself out and claim disinterest, I'm pretty sure you must make some evaluations. Its overwhelming-the reasons they are not interested. So interest or no interest, the figures given are false.

One thing I've learned about Igbos from this forum is that while they are generally okay people who just want to live and let live while doing their business and contributing one way or the other to their host communities, there are, over the course of history, usually a few ones who are over-exuberant and secretly hope and dream of dominating others. Mazi Uche, the Lagos Ohananeze(to a lesser extent though) and some contributors to this forum are examples of that few. They go about this using  lies, exaggerations and propaganda. This irritates and irks.

Of all Nigerian cities, Lagos is the one town you'd asssume Igbos would have evolved to love and cherish. Seriously. Many of us are disappointed that some of them have now for whatever reasons resorted to deliberately skewing figures and lying generally. We are disappointed that they now claim our culture is zero, our Obas are insignificant and that only the Lagoon can be regarded as 'indigene' in Lagos. Lagos is the one town that constantly served as a reminder that general relations between the Yoruba and Igbo could improve along with other groups with significant populations in Lagos.

We hope that the real ones among the Igbo Lagosians, the majority who have been an absolute delight to have around, call these ones to order. The status quo has not been designed to dominate anyone. We all live peacefully with each other in Lagos.

Just like I told your brothers, stop hyperventilating over something you cant do crap about.

No igbo person has come to take your land but they have come to stay and you guys should come to terms with that already.

You cannot do anything about it. SIMPLE!

Well no one is threatened. Mazi Uche and Ohanaeze didn't just come out to demand to 'stay'. They really wouldn't need to that actually. They have come with deliberate mischief and we are all amused. Of course, so many Igbos on the streets of Lagos do not even identify with these guys. All what some of us have tried to do is to 'clear the doubt' of some of your brothers on this forum who have been misguided and sent into ecstasy by their statements. If we cannot succeed in doing that, its best we leave you all to your daydreams and when you guys wake up, we'd love to assess the patterns of the elections in Lagos with you all.

The figures are obviously false. Otherwise ask yourself why a group of people with 62% of the voters in a state should give conditions instead of just take over.

You Yorubas are the most tribalistic nigerians. Hausas are not even half tribalistic as you are(a Yoruba woman is even a senator in Adamawa). The problem with the hausas has more to do with religious intolerance and their no-holds barred violence if they feel their religion is threatened.

So take that crap claim to yourself. You are the masters of tribalism.

Well,
1. Senator Grace Folashade Bent contested and won. Hilda Williams, the late Funsho Williams widow, a non-Yoruba tried to win the PDP's ticket in 2007 and lost. Nobody's fault.
2. Adamawa may be in the North East but its not an Hausa state. Adamawa is mainly Fulani with a large cluster of minorities usually Christian. Boni Haruna, a Christian from one of the minority ethnic groups was Governor from '99-07.
3.Senator Bent is married to a Bachama man and she won elections to represent these people and other minorities in the state in the Senate. You seriously think Fulanis or even Hausas would vote a christian Yoruba woman to represent them? Wake up please.

Yes, some of us may be tribalistic but we are not worse than any other ethnic group in the Nigerian setup. The chest-beating and mischief of the likes of Mazi Uche and the more-restrained Ohanaeze is also tribalism hid under the cover of cosmopolitanism and nationalism.

Nobody is getting carried away. Like Katsumoto pointed out, this is just an internet discussion about events yet to occur. You people have claimed to have the numbers, use it instead of stooping so low as to give conditions for support. Afterall, the current Governor is from a group you claim to outnumber among the voters. With the projected 5% support u need from the Yorubas, I don't understand why giving conditions is necessary.

2. Surely if the Igbo believe that they have the numbers to effect change, why are they not using it?

This is what I was saying even though sarcastically in the first page of this thread. Eko Ile concluded I was Igbo lol.

If the Igbo have the numbers and have even threatened to use it(Mazi Uche), why not just use it? Why list conditions?
The elecctions are about 6 weeks away. Let's all come here to compare notes.

Anyway congrats to Arsenal for winning this match.

Sunderland next,

Can they get 3points (it will be hard).

I think Fergie will be laughing at 5pm on sat even if he looses to Liverpool on sunday.

Its also possible things could get worse for Fergie come sunday. You  ask if Arsenal can get all three points against Sunderland at home, what about man utd away at anfield? Delusion.

Anyway, great game for the arsenal. A great opportunity to put the demons of Sunday aside. Injuries are piling up but I believe we should still be able to beat Sunderland. True, they are a tough side and all but we got our eyes on the prize, we should squash them.

For me, Bendtner should fill in for v.Persie. Chamakh is still terribly off-form and looks like he may need more games to reach that level he hit in the first part of the season. On the other hand, Nikki looks ready. All the team needs to do is to adjust their style a bit to suit his capabilities. Without Walcott and v.Persie, our chances at the Nou Camp are considerably slimmer. However we have the advantage and we will hopefully still have a better defence than we took there last season plus our priceless el capitan, Cesc. With these, I believe we can slug it out.

As for me, I'm relying on Mazi Uche's figure - 62% of the Lagos voters. I also cannot wait for the elections. I will be disappointed in the Ndigbo if they end up unable to use their 'population' to their advantage by voting the candidate(whoever he is) with the Igbo deputy. Infact, I wonder why they can't just vote in an Igbo governor straight away.

Ohanaeze has a habit of letting Ndigbo down. I expect Mazi Uche and his invading soldiers to be disappointed in this over-cautious group of elders. Giving conditions of support when the plan is to take over right away?

Boy, we live in interesting times.

Bro, the PDP has already decided to rig this election massively. Mr Odechukwu knows he can no longer win a free and fair election with the crowd of those who attribute is ascension as divine thinning everyday. That should explain the arrogance, and disrespect.

This is why I do not like fashola and tinubu or even ACN. When an awori or even other yorubas from other states are not yet represented, then an ibo man will come and give conditions for there votes (very annoying). If you people keep voting for ACN then I am sure we yorubas will no longer be relevent again in lagos and nigeria. All this diplomacy and love we show to igbos are not done in other parts of the country eg awka ibom, delta, balysea, kogi, kano and co
this states do not allow ibos in there carbinent, then why did fashola or tinubu allowed an ibo man to be a commissioner, is that not stu.pid and silly of ACN.
Certainly Acn is not getting my vote. angry

Bros no vex. I do not think what those states you listed are doing the right thing, if true. Its encouraging when you recognise minority groups in your state and their various contributions to the economy. These loud-mouthed ones are just on their own. The smart ones like the Joe Igbokwes and Ben Akabuezes know better.

We all recognized OBJ as a crude man lacking in the grace and composure of a proper leader the people from the highly sophisticated to the humble can be proud of. However, it seems to me that this crass OBJ is of a higher intellectual standing than the two 'graduate' presidents we have had after him. While its a little difficult to judge UMYA, one can as clear as day see the incumbent as the intellectual dwarf that he is actually. OBJ wasn't scared of monthly presidential chats, OBJ granted radio interviews while in office and he was just a military man. But now we have a 'graduate' president who is scared of ordinary Nigerians and their questions to him. Of course, the opposition is against you, they would aim for your jugular and will try to reduce your credibility but the good thing is that you are also allowed to do same and sell your candidacy to the people. Mr Odechukwu is sadly creating the impression he thinks the people are also against him. With that kind of mindset, he should ask himself if he has any business being a presidential candidate in the first place.

Odechukwu is a half-baked individual. How ironic that the likes of Buhari, Shekarau and Ribadu, all from the 'educationally backward' north are ready and willing for this debate while Mr Odechukwu, a supposed Phd holder wants 'expo' before the debate. What's more, he is scared of spectators, the ordinary Nigerians he intends to lead.
It irks me that this nimcompoop had the temerity to label an educational policy as failed without indicting the one that produced him and all other 'phd holders of his kind. What more do some people need to see that this man would lead us to doom if elected?

But excuse me, why give conditions when they have about 62% of the voters registered in the state? Abi Mazi Uche is not part of Ohanaeze in Lagos? Why not just field candidates and win the elections with their supposed electoral strength? After all they only need '5%' of the Yoruba voters or are the Yoruba voters so hard to woo that they can't even get that percentage to support their cause.
Fashola or no Fashola, the time has come for the Ndigbo to exert and 'influence' the elections in Lagos.

Sir Alex Ferguson slams referee as Manchester United lose to Chelsea•

Dominic Fifield at Stamford Bridge The Guardian, Wed 2 Mar 2011 00.07 GMTSir Alex Ferguson launched a scathing attack on the referee Martin Atkinson, questioning the official's appointment for this fixture and effectively casting doubt on his integrity, after Chelsea beat Manchester United 2-1 to prise open the title race. The United manager was left livid after Atkinson failed to dismiss David Luiz for a series of fouls committed by the Brazilian defender, only one of which earned him a booking. The visitors ended up reduced to 10 themselves when Nemanja Vidic was sent off in stoppage time, leaving them without both the Serb and the injured England captain, Rio Ferdinand, for Sunday's trip to Liverpool.Ferguson, whose side now sit four points clear of Arsenal having played a game more, had been spared the loss of Wayne Rooney for this fixture despite the striker's apparent elbow on Wigan's James McCarthy at the weekend but has now courted potential sanction from the Football Association himself. "You hope you get a really strong referee in games like this," he said. "It was a major game for both clubs and you want a fair referee, you know , You want a strong referee, anyway, and we didn't get that."Atkinson has officiated 12 games at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea winning 11, and was in charge of the equivalent fixture last season in which United disputed the award of a free-kick against Darren Fletcher from which John Terry scored the game's only goal. Asked whether he was surprised that the same referee was appointed for this match, Ferguson said: "Exactly, exactly. I don't know why he's got the game. I must say that, when I saw who was refereeing it, I feared the worst."Ferguson disputed the award of the 80th-minute penalty as "so soft" but his main complaints centred on David Luiz's three challenges, the first of which floored Javier Hernández some three minutes after the Chelsea defender had drawn them level. That went unpunished, with

I've always supported Carlo Ancelotti but now I think he has lost it and needs to go. I believe its still possible to salvage this game but I reckon it would be a flash in the pan thing. A lot of relief that would soon give way to familiar underwhelming performances. I am not courageous enough to say they'll lose out on 4th spot just because Tottenham are another insane team who may characteristically blow this opportunity.

Well guys no need for the pessimism. Some folks are yarning as if they' ve never seen a cup final. We are seeing the magic fellaz and from the way the first half was, this game promises to be a final to remember.

Both teams have lived up to the predictions before the game. Many pundits reckoned the surest way the blues can get at Arsenal is by utilising their 6"8 ft tall striker, Zigic. You could see this from the way they spread the ball out wide to the right to ex gunner Larsson anytime they are with the ball. Generally, the Arsenal defence have done pretty well. Apart from the corner that led to the goaln which we must acknowlege resulted from a misunderstanding between Wilshere and Sagna, Birmingham havent really looked like scoring from their many crosses.

As for arsenal, they have been true to their type and they got the equaliser the friggin' Arsenal way. C'mon You Gunners!!!!!

I wonder why people keep referring to this Magic Number thing as freebie! You have to pay 250 bucks per month to enjoy the service! There are more than 15 million MTN users in Nigeria and if you project about 7 million as those that make these free calls, you will discover that MTN rakes in about 5billion every month from this service. Do not forget that the service is limited to only one number for each subscriber and ultimately, people will still make calls as usual save for that special number they get to call without billing.

I have given up already. I know Goodluck will win. I have interacted with quite a number of people who have made up their minds to vote for Goodluck, some of them quite well-educated and believe me, their reasons are so depressing. A colleague said he'd rather have a clueless and non-performing Goodluck than a Northerner. Another, when asked why he felt so convinced by Goodluck despite the fact that he' s proving to be more of the same by dining with the likes of Daniel, Akala, Obasanjo etc, simplistically responded by saying its only after he wins the election and starts his term proper that we'll see his true colours. That he is just using these men.

I have a conscience and when shyte hits the fan in the coming years, I want to have that little satisfaction that I chose to use my head while voting in the 2011 elections.

FYI, Babalola did come out to say NNPC was broke and thats why he was forced out of office.

So it is Babalola's fault for resigning from a hostile Govt? Or is it GEJ's fault for forcing him out for saying the truth?

I dont know how people think in reverse these days.

The fact you are from the South-South does not give YOU reason to think like a monkey. I dont need to use my brain to see that someone who wasted/pilfered $30bn from ECA and caused us another $30bln to defend the Naira is a incompetent buffoon.

Neither do I need brains to see that any guy who would selfishly return all Governors to their seat, even murderers and despicable looters is a selfish punk who does not care about the people in those states, but about his own inordinate ambition.

I also don't need brains to see that anyone who claims that the 1999 constitution is the best constitution and doesnt need to be changed is an enemy of our people (Ijaw and ND). Did all our agitations over the past 2 decades boil down to this eediot's ambition, or was it about forcing constitutional change that would give our people land rights and access to resources?

Finally, I dont need brains to see that anyone who surrounds himself with Anenih's, IBB's and such is no good for this country.

These are my major grouses with Mr Goodluck. I was in the early days for Goodluck purely on sectional grounds. A lot of people were disgusted by the attitude of some Northerners in the Yar-adua ill-health scenario so I guess backing Goodluck was a way of getting back at those Northerners. Fine by me. However, its time to wake up. This guy won't lead us anywhere. Now IBB is his father. Guess corruption is his brother, logically.

Well, it seems their grouse with the government is in the sack of Olaifa. No one should dictate to his employer who to hire or fire. Unlike other professionals, doctors, as rightly pointed out by someone here, are too fond of the civil service. Their attitude with regard to this current crisis shows why. I believe if terms of employment are unacceptable to a worker, he should not hesitate to look for another job. This is what others do. Why should doctors be any different?
