berem: I don't know if Zubby77 is the same as Obadiah77.Obadiah77 is igbo but he also does not fail in disuniting igbos especially when the topic is about Ojukwu. There was a thread about Ojukwu and he came up with something about writing a book disregarding Ojukwu as a hero which he is planning to launch in one of the Luxury hotels in Lagos or abuja.I don't know if he went further to do it but I cautioned him not to ! Well, unfortunately he didn't show up in this election maybe because he is also guilty.

That's Danka77.

Except of course Danka = Obadiah.

Politics / Re: Lagos Threatens Total Okada Ban by revomind(m): 7:54am On Oct 23, 2012
I get confused when people ask what other means of transport has been provided before the government can ban okada. Pray, do you want a bus stop right in front of your door?

This is a decent move by the LASG. They can do more though; okada should be banned totally. In the abuja municipality, bikes don't operate and people get by. There are some distances that look far to you now but once there's no bike to fly, will become piece of cake. I also hear that bikes are not allowed in PH, so its high time in Lagos.

As for the okada riders, I believe in no time, the non-criminal minded among them will find something to do and continue their lives...or return to their villages/towns. Maybe then they will realize there is more potential there... Especially if they haven't banned okadas....

bashr8: the report was compiled by yorubas so its amusing that a yoruba man is acusing an igbo man of tribalism and at the same time claim that igbos are not united. which one should we believe? i dont support such if its even true but if we must clean up then all agencies should be cleaned up , let the most qualified get the job.

Fair enough!

Well, well, well.... Hear ye! Hear ye!

I hold no brief for any soul affected. Let her majesty's wish be done. She is the minister and if she has not broken any civil service rules regarding federal character, I say to her ride on! Kick them useless 'ofemnanus' out (hope I got that spelling right) and also don't forget the lazy abokis!

However.......

If she hasn't followed due process ....

And there's no one willing to call her to order....

Let no man complain when another person takes food from the mouth of corrupt govt workers that are not from his/her tribe. No one is better at that than many of you folks here... angry

I rest my case.

Sealeddeal: Yorubas and Hausas has tribalism running in their vein even in church activities.Go and check those churches where a Yoruba man is a general overseer, you will find out that Yorua pastors occupy the No.1 position in 90percent of that church branch nationwide.eg is winners chapel. An igbo proverb say tha,'Ogbu mma anaghi ekwe ka ewere mma gaa ya n'azu'...meaning that 'someone that kill with machete will never allow someonetgo pass behind him with matchete'. Minister of Aviation is a game changer.

Hehehe. Igbos accusing other Nigerians of tribalism makes me chuckle. Ride on son! You could even provide evidence based on church activities! You sir are a genius! Heir of the great Igbo race!

My bad. That was an error. You get my point though. He still tried to influence the election by creating a new political party that contested the gubernatorial election and many other elections in the state (including his own senate bid) and LOST.

'm jus hapi dat ondo pple refused 2 b DECEIVED lyk oda yoruba$

You're excited.

This excitement shouldn't reduce the quality of your thinking. Nothing spectacular has happened.

A popular incumbent has been returned, congratulations to the people of Ondo State.

In the other South-West states, people voted out non-performing PDP governors like the crass Alao-Akala, the clueless Oyinlola, the roguish Daniel and the confused PDP government in Ekiti. Stick to that fact.

No one was deceived. ACN was the only other formidable party and at that point in the south-west states, all people wanted was an alternative and kudos to the ACN for positioning itself well.

South-West masses are hard to satisfy. If they. (ACN) get complacent, they'll be voted out. Its as simple as that. If they could vote out the rigging machine of the PDP, ACN should be a piece of cake.
Politics / Re: Eze Ndi Igbo Online Election 2012 - Nomination in progress by revomind(m): 9:17pm On Oct 20, 2012
First of all, I have to say I'm Yoruba. I've followed this thread from the very first page to the last. Some of my brothers are just having fun here so you do yourselves a big disservice paying too much attention to them.

I have to commend OnlyTruth for his candid ways. Being a leader shouldn't always be a popularity contest especially when it concerns things you or the majority hold dear. Dede1 also surprised me here. Apart from the unnecessary bickering with Dayo, he showed great maturity in his postulation regarding Okija's candidacy. Ndu Chucks and Charles too. Ify_always; this is a e-hug!

However, Okija-Juju is as Igbo as it gets on this forum. He may not view Ojukwu as the hero most Igbos here view him as but I feel that should not in any way disqualify him. If Okija_juju has indeed erred by mocking a man on his death-bed even I see as quite ballsy trying to seek independence for the Igbo race even though I sincerely feel he erred too much in that process and the war shouldn't have been attempted in the first place, he has to apologise. In my opinion, that is unAfrican. If he has mocked other Igbo people not from his state, he has to apologise too. But again, if he has credible defence for his acts or words some of you view as offensive, he must not necessarily apologise. Just try as much as possible to be objective and let the process take care of itself. You people have done a good job thus far. Like Ndu Chucks said, if he is unpopular, let it be reflected in the votes proper.

Y'all should keep this up. Just my (irrelevant) two cents. If I am allowed to nominate, I nominate Andre Uweh and Okija_Juju.

Respect.

naptu2: They didn't exactly disagree. I think the disagreement part was just a bid by the journalist to hype the story. I agree with both of them.

1) I agree with Fashola. We might have the best constitution in the world, but it would be pointless if we don't change the behaviour of the people.

Constitutions are not perfect documents and there is no perfect constitution, because constitutions are made by humans who are imperfect. No matter what constitution we have, people will still find a loophole in it with which they'll do whatever they want. Should we obey the spirit or the letter of the constitution?

Furthermore, a constitution is a document that does not enforce itself. How will the people charged with interpreting and enforcing the constitution behave?

Mind you, Fashola stated clearly that he is not against constitutional change, but he believes that this should go hand in hand with behavioural change.

2) I also agree with Obi. In order to
secure compliance with the constitution and to foster peace and unity, the people must have confidence in the constitution and believe that it is fair and protects their rights and interests.

Prof Corruption: I see people who write these worthless craps about Tinubu as being intellectually lazy and are suffering terribly from the cancer of logic.
Tinubu is not in government. Tinubu can not be voted out of any position. Tinubu is not responsible for the conduct of any governor. Tinubu is a free citizen like you and me. Tinubu does not have any immunity, he can be arrested if run foul of law.

If you have any dossier on Tinubu, what are you supposed to do? Organize a group of twenty boys, get a cameran man and hold a peaceful rally at the office of EFCC. If your dossier contains anything meaningful, Tinubu ll be arrested. Crying, sobbing and lamenting on Nairaland does not get the job done.

ola_pluto: Looks like the shape of Nigerian football team can be seen from this stat. Baring any exceptional talents, Yorubas seem to be more effective finishers, SE/SS mostly midfielders. Defense not so certain, but mostly SS/SW/SE. Wingers and committed utility players: North. Goalies: SW.
If you need a player in the national team to run into bricks for you for the whole 90 minutes, go to Kano state or anywhere up North. I think its a very decent balance and any coach who uses this formula will most likely get results. Also, our best midfielders seem to be Southerners that grow up in the North. Mikel Obi, Victor Moses are recent examples. I think football discipline is more up North than down Souths
I watched the U17 today, and it was very similar and they looked sharp.
P.S. I do not intend tribal war here, just stating my own observations.

Na wa o. Anyway, Victor Moses is from Kaduna.

Culture / Re: Who Is Yoruba / How Do You Know You Are Yoruba by revomind(m): 8:09pm On Oct 12, 2012
From the top of my head, the ideal Yoruba;

Recognises the principle of fairness and the complex concept of the 'omoluabi.
Has immense respect for elders.
Loves to have a good time and celebrate.
Has a supreme regard for culture and tradition.
Believes in the power of a name.
Loves to acquire knowledge.
Believes in the sanctity of facts.
Believes male or female, a child is a child (women are allowed to head families).
Loves a woman with a good backside.
Is a calculating mind.
Believes the culture or the person comes before religion.
Has numerous names.
Detests oppression.

If there is any doubt, as a kid growing up, you immediately know you are Yoruba with each one of your four grandparents having a different oriki and its accompanying poem for you.

Pepper in the food may guide you too.

Crime / Re: Two Students To Die By Firing Squad For Robbery by revomind(m): 4:41pm On Oct 11, 2012
Unfortunately for the young robbers, that is the law. Once you're armed and you proceed to forcibly obtain things from other people, you are destined for a death sentence when caught. Please, let's stop the hypocrisy. If these guys aren't sentenced and they continue in their evil ways, we are only encouraging jungle justice and as we all know, jungle justice isn't very accurate. We can call for a review of our criminal/penal codes but casting aspersions on the judge is nonsensical. He has done his job and has backed his sentence up with the law. I can guarantee that the grounds of appeal,if any, cannot be based on the misapplication of the law.
