What a relief! We finally win at home. Tense game but I don't think Fulham really gave us trouble, I just felt we were missing something. Regrettably, Song, Wilshere and Rosicky were below par. If not for Nasri who was unbelievable today, we would have lost total control of the game. Kudos to Fabianski; I may seem too optimistic but I totally agree with le prof that we don't need another keeper. Great game for Djourou too. He's picking up now. MoTM has to be Nasri. That guy is something else. Chelsea, I hope the Lord gives them consistency. |
I feel sorry for y'all, Really. Ancelotti looked really pitiable in the post-game interview. These mumu players wan shame this good man. I bet he'll soon lose his job. |

Interesting combo. May just get my vote. Mikeansy, the political consciousness of the south won't do Jonathan any good. |
Went thru eleven pages praying he'd show up. Couldn't stop the tears for someone I never met. R. I. P man. Being a guy who reads posts more than actually making comments, he came across as a very brilliant dude. Seun, something oughtta be done in his memory. |
ROSSIKE, you have a good point there. I was in church last sunday when after a moving and truly spiritually sermon, the pastor gave someone's testimony to the church. The person was recently appointed as 'special adviser' to someone. The church became very excited with sounds of 'whoop!' coming from here and there. There were other testimonies shared but those ones elicited moderate responses from the congregation. I think you have addressed why it is the political appointment people were excited about. However, I think you have missed the point of the initial responses to this situation. You cannot reasonably advocate for the preservation of the status quo by asserting that majority of us are promoters of this corrupt and selfish attitude of the lawmakers. One poster made a point that we need to review the system and put in place laws and policies that would safeguard fairness and remove the affairs of public office holders as far away as possible from the whims and caprices of individuals. I believe this point was made with knowledge of the fact that man is inherently selfish and prone to want to exploit advantages he has over another. This is why civilised people submit themselves and their affairs to be handled by a system; the state and its laws. The senator earns too much regardless if I would put out adverts if my father or uncle is elected as one. That is not what matters here, what matters is that the situation is a wasteful one and is well capable of frustrating any effort to get the economy up and doing. Its scandalous that a senator takes home so much money per month when the minimum wage is 18k no matter how you look at it. |
Katsumoto. Clear arguments. No one exploits loopholes in arguments better on this forum. Abagworo {though banned recently} and PhysicsQED have earned my respect too. |
@Dapobear. Bro, I understand your position on self-determination and all that. I understand also that you are proudly Yoruba. I am too. My advice to you is to try to stay off threads like this that has to do with other ethnicities especially when you don't have anything close to a firm grasp of the issue being discussed. Many Yoruba folks here go about making themselves look silly and out of depth. Y'all should learn to steer clear of this kinda threads. The only guy ,at least from the top of my head now,who gives a good account of himself and the Yoruba is KATSUMOTO and it has to be noted that he only comments so as to correct some wrong impressions and to prevent history from being rewritten or manipulated by some NL members. Personally, I dont mind the country split into three or four. So everyone should be fine. All I can't vouch for is WAR. If the country stays, cool. Lets forget internet warriors, there a lotta people from ALL PARTS who love the country as it is. |
Tired of telling people this! |
Almunia, Vermaelen, Diaby, V.Persie, Beendtner all out or still not fully fit, Whats Nateev saying? |
mystikal:Clichy was awesome today, matter of fact, all the French boys were on fire for the gunners today, Perhaps, its the England game around the corner. |
Wellbeck, NA ME BE FINE BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
only hoped for a draw oh lord, look what you've done I can't thank U enuf, O she Baba. |
Where is he from? I didn't realize you could hold political office in Lagos w/o being original Lagosian. That is a sign of progress, at least.

Not so fast bro, its a Yoruba thing in Lagos though I doubt Fashola isn't from Lagos. I once heard he's from Ikorodu. |
kelvin: adanny01:Okay guys. thanks for the info. |
what about people that intend to join the military after school through direct/short service? Are they exempt? I know that ex-boys (nig. Military school grads) are exempt sha. Someone pls. |
contribute:True talk. Most Yoruba folks don't know their history despite it being quite well-documented. The only reason the Ooni is going about like he's the top boss is immediate post-independence politics, AWO and A.G specifically. I believe if we read our history well, we'd see that the Ibadan monarchy even deserves to be placed on a higher pedestal than the Ooni afterall it saved the Yoruba from Fulani invasion. |
@Kengali, nice work there. Its particularly true that there's more fire in a relationship where both parties are between their late teens and early twenties. Its just very hard for them to eventually end up together. I can't picture myself keeping it till late only for me to end up with someone in the same age bracket except its from that passionate era of 18-22 and with a girl who kept it real somewhat. I want to correct the OP's impression that men only start having fun by 27. I think that perception is old-school to many dudes out there who between 20-22 are already university graduates. The reason i'd accept for guys still being single as at the time girls (the ones that are interested in marriage, that is) start getting desperate is the harsh economic reality. I'm an apostle of early marriage for both sexes. Being a young dad is a great thing, I tell ya. |
Quite educative. Still in early mode, I'll be back for proper discourse. |
I hated school and saw it, perhaps wrongly, as a waste of time. I couldn't tolerate anything that would keep me longer in school {failure}. |
The Famished Road by Ben Okri. 48 laws of Power by Green The Animal Farm by George Orwell War without end by Anton La Guardia Rich Dad Poor Dad by Kiyosaki. There's one Dean Koontz book, Can't remember the name. Easily the funniest book I've read, There are a lot I can't remember now. |
Lagos na the place jor. Abuja is cool and all but I can't put it better than you've done. Most Abj residents tend to take pride in the insane high cost of living there as if it means anything. To me, its just that people realize there's mad money flowing from the most profitable industry in the country; the govt. Here we have folks that won't bat an eyelid spending mad money on things that are far cheaper in lag so you can't blame the biz men. I'd always pick Gidi over abj. |
Fine. I like it. They should do this more often. However, that SAN thingy should be scrapped. |
The 'ideal southerner' in me wants Ribadu. |
Phew!! This Goodluck sef! Its pretty annoying when some generally unscrupulous elements come out to pass damning verdicts on sectors that deterioate continuously before their own very eyes. True that all isnt well with education in the country buh i doubt seriously it has anything to do with the 6-3-3-4 structure. I went through that system and i think the problem lies with the govt. Govt funds education as if its a distraction and also promote mediocrity with this federal xter/EDLS crap. What Goodluck needs to do is to show courage to address these fundamental issues. I doubt that though. |

swiftycool:This one sounds a little harsh. |
With regard to M.I's statement that Nas is not on Jay's level, I'd like to say that people should be more specific on these kinda issues to help stem confusion. There's a problem when even the person that said this sounds confused.{ M.I; I do not blame him, he's a one-eyed man in the land of the blind} As far as quality of music is concerned, Jay-Z is not on a higher level than Nas. I'll leave this at that. If M.I had based his opinion on sales {a possibility since Jay traditionally sells more}, then he should feel free to add Lil Wayne, T.I, Kanye, Eminem, 50 cent as superiors to Nas. Based on sales, Kanye and Jigga are equals and Em superior. @eldee, you are definitely in a minority if you insist all nas' recent albums are mediocre. Mediocre in what sense? Nastradamus is the only average nas album i can point out. The rest are surely above average. |
