Politics / Re: Arewa To Gej:renounce 2015 And Enjoy Peace by revomind(m): 10:01pm On Aug 10, 2012
edicolove: Those who keep saying GEJ should do this or do that talk like only the president can single handedly change the constitution of Nigeria. Even OBJ as tough as he is could not just amend the constitution the way he liked. The biggest factor in changing the constitution is the NASS and those MF will never do it. They are only interested in their pockets.

Now I see why clark is really speaking up. As a sitting president you cannot be the one to take a sectional stance. It will backfire. It has to come from leaders of thought who are not directly in government. Maybe the ND just need to stoke the fire a bit more, then we see were it goes

Fair points. However, the difference is clear between Obj and GEJ. The unitary system we practice suits Obj's character and his politics well. There is no way you can convince the old fox otherwise. Obj is loathed in the southwest where he's from so if the center is weakened as it should be ideally, a man like Obj becomes a non-entity politically since he's no longer president and his political clout is zero in his home region.

GEJ on the other hand, has a lot to gain if you think about it deeply. He comes from the richest region and he's also from a minority ethnic group. Its pretty obvious a federal system is more advantageous to the niger-delta. If he's smart, he can make it happen without prejudice, of course, to the legislature who have the sole right to oversee any amendment to the constitution. Its not going to be easy by any means but the task is made considerably easier if the President shows his hand.
Politics / Re: Leadership Journalist Assaulted By LASUTH Staff by revomind(m): 7:26pm On Aug 10, 2012
LASUTH security staff went too far on this one and I'm glad the Government quickly stepped in. Such brutality isn't welcome in a society with laws.

However, the journalist was breast-stroking on the edge of trouble and was mischievous. He has no regard for the feelings of the families of the victims all in a bid to sell newspapers. I don't know how I'd feel if I see my relative's crushed and burnt body adorning the frontpage of some daily newspaper. There's a limit to everything.
Politics / Re: Bayelsa New Flag: Jonathan Must Speak - Lawyers by revomind(m): 5:57pm On Aug 10, 2012
Unfortunate the way many Northerners have decided to make governance difficult for the current dispensation. Any time they come out to complain about this and that, they end up shooting themselves in the foot.

Where were they when some states decided to adopt the Shariah law?

There's nothing to what Bayelsa State has decided to do and they know it. I'd rather wait to see the President's action when Bayelsa step up the ante (if indeed they have disintegration plans). Whatever happens, the people will be better off in a true federal system or in independent and sovereign entities. Nigeria as it is cannot work.

The OP says Lagos Govt officials. I wonder what he's up to.

I'm not sure if trying to snap pictures of badly damaged dead bodies just to sell newspapers is defensible. I wouldn't like it if I had family among the corpses.

The LASUTH peeps went too far nonetheless and should be made to face the music.
Politics / Re: Leadership Journalist Assaulted By LASUTH Staff by revomind(m): 11:21pm On Aug 09, 2012
Sad story. This is caveman behaviour.

That being said, there's a difference between LASUTH staff and Lagos State Govt officials. The headline is mischievous and calculated to mislead.
Islam for Muslims / Re: Kano Hisbah Detains Non-Fasting Muslims by revomind(m): 10:18pm On Aug 08, 2012
I really do not care about how the religion of Islam functions or its perceived shortcomings. What bothers me is this Hisbah board and the ironic opposition of the kano state government to state police. We all are witnesses to the way they made sharia their standard law against the constitution of the country. One body ideally must ensure compliance to the law and that's the Hisbah.
To me, this is hypocrisy; "Nigeria is a federal state and yes we should have sharia if we want" and then " No, we shouldn't have state police because we are not ripe for it and can't afford it". I challenge all the muslims on this thread to prove any of the Northern states is ripe enough to implement Sharia in its purest form.

You can't demand for a proper federalism and yet want the police to remain as it is. Safe to say the Northern states are opposed to a restructuring of the country. And for me and many people, the main problem of this country is in its structure. A better federal structure will change our political culture for the better slowly but surely.
Some of these Northern governors will probably throw their hats into the ring for the presidential election in 2015. When southerners refuse to vote for them, people will cry foul again and probably stir up trouble again like what we're seeing now. They'll fail to realise it isn't hatred or unfair. Its just a pessimism about their willingness to right the wrongs of the past. Babangida Aliyu can make all the noise like he likes doing in the media but if he can't stick out and walk the talk at this level, he damn right wouldn't if he were president for example.

This country of ours will remain backward forever if we don't do the right things and time is ticking.

The thread says 'most recognizable'..

Hands down its ABU.

No need for sentiments.

Donald Duke, Obong Victor Attah, Ahmed Makarfi, Ahmed Muazu (former governors), Ibrahim Shema (katsina gov)... Enough with governors. There was a time we had 12 governors from ABU.

El-Rufai, Ribadu, Sanusi, Nenadi Usman, Katsina Alu, Musdapher, Uwais, Kutigi, Belgore (cjn's)

Let's chill.

How do you give concrete evidence on an anonymous forum?

Just how?

I met TWO Igbo muslims while in the university. Its left to you to believe or do otherwise. I'm christian myself and I have got nothing to gain or lose if Igbo muslims exist or not.
Politics / Re: Plan To Demolish Mosque In Onitsha: Muslims Protest by revomind(m): 5:48pm On Jul 28, 2012
Antivirus92: they don't exist, there is no fact there. Its all fabrications to make outsiders view nigeria as a muslim country

Keep telling yourself that. Who knows, it may solve the 'problem'. Maybe the igbo muslims some of us have met are just 'fabrications'.
Politics / Re: Plan To Demolish Mosque In Onitsha: Muslims Protest by revomind(m): 5:27pm On Jul 28, 2012
Well, if the mosque stands in the way, it has to go. Its not that hard building a mosque and personally, I'm disappointed in the way the muslims are playing victim. Thinly veiled threats of violence will not do them any good in a state where majority are christians and already, arguably, silently detest them ( at least from some of the comments here so far).

You can choose to believe whatever you want to. However, igbo muslims exist. Not liking that fact wouldn't stop it from being what it is, a fact.

Last year we also heard from Arsenal fans that they were gonna win the league. Trust me this year they'll be relegated.

Any Arsenal fan who sincerely believed they could win the league last year has no clue.

Meanwhile, others who felt they still wouldn't be in the mix for UCL places were just being sensational.

You sincerely believe that 17-19 teams that will play in this league next year are better than Arsenal?

This is just pre-season.

Mark has always been a fool and I wouldn't take him seriously. He's an expert at saying things just for saying's sake. Never heard anything intelligent and worthy of genuine analysis or debate from his mouth.
How did a man like Mark become a General in the army, military administrator of about two states and now Senate President?

He is the poster boy of the dysfunctional political system we have in our country. Corrupt and stands for nothing.

Isn't this the same man who infamously hissed that phones aren't meant for the poor? Now he wants social media censored. I wish him luck.

Music/Radio / Re: D’banj – Oyato by revomind(m): 9:20am On Jul 15, 2012
I'll be real with y'all.

This is Dbanj. Hated and regarded as 'talentless'. We're on the sixth page analysing what he referred to as his first African single. You can make of that whatever you will.

Dbanj's tracks have always been so-so (even though many were phat party tunes). Dbanj was at the height of his powers in the superb (in that sense) Entertainer album and in the Mo' hits compilation album. From there on, his tunes have been sluggish and have even deteriorated from the not-so-great standards he set for himself. It is hypocritical to call this 'Oyato' jam wack and then praise 'Oliver Twist' and 'Mr Endowed'. I'm yet to get over the horror of those songs and to be honest, for the first time since he dropped 'Rundown : Funk You Up', I wasn't looking forward to any of his jams. I thought Don Jazzy and Dbanj had gotten too complacent and what's more the running of the label appeared shoddy to me, there was some sort of rotation which meant the quite talented Wande Coal and the commercial monster Dbanj had to wait for the mediocre DPrince and Dr Sid to drop their own solo joints. But I digress.

The truth is 'Oyato' in consideration of Dbanj's limited lyrical ability is a better joint that his last two major singles I mentioned above. The lyrics made more sense even though I sense he threw some cheap shots at his erstwhile partners and friends. That's understandable though . So if you are so willing to condemn this considerably better effort, we need to know why. You were dickriding the whole mo' hits crew when it was only wande coming close to lyrical maturity. So what changed?

Hate?

Envy?

Ethnic sentiments?

Dbanj will never be a lyrical powerhouse. As long as he stands, only one thing will be expected from him. Make the club move and entertain. I fail to see how this track wouldn't do that.

Big ups to j-sleek, an under-rated producer in my own books. He's been doing some great work with 2face over the years. With another big-name client like this, his stock just has to rise.

And why should falae be removed? wasn't he part of those that ravaged the country? is falae not a nigerian elite? wasn't he part of the military eras that destroyed the country? wasn't he the mouthpiece of SAP? wasn't he one of the finance ministers? Was a gun pointed at falae to remain as minister under the military?

Some of you post rubbish because you have access to a computer. If falae had(has) any moral sense in him, he shouldn't have been part of the military governments.

You may need to calm down sister. You don't agree with me doesn't make what I posted rubbish. If we have to include Falae in a list that comprises former heads of states like Babangida and military regime no. 2's like Aikhomu then I'm afraid everyone who ever served in any military regime at cabinet level should be blamed for 'marginalizing' the northern masses.

Soyinka served in the IBB regime, Tam David-West, Alison Ayida, Beko Ransome Kuti etc all served in military regimes. Morality has nothing to do with honoring a government appointment my friend.

In the nearest future, some people will hold Sanusi, Soludo, aganga etc responsible for marginalization.

torkaka: ^^stup!dity seems to be your catch word!
you said; northern nigerian peasants as well as NIGERIANS are marginalised by northern elites! so i ask you are those in delta not nigerians? are those in bayelsa not nigerians?
what evidence do you have that northern elites have stolen/marginalised people that southern elites have not done?
for every babangida there is a aikhomu, for every aikhomu there is a falae, for every falae there is a nzeribe!
if like you said "northern elites have marginalised northern peasants and nigerians" then its safe to say southern elites have marginalised southern peasants and nigerians!. which can be shortened to " northern and southern elites have marginalised nigerians"!
meantime go and stick your head in a toilet sit where it belongs!

You may like to remove Falae from that list. You're clutching at straws bruv. The simple fact is if the North is marginalized or if they feel marginalized, the blame should be placed at the feet of the members of the Northern elite for they have been the ones calling the shots for the better part of our history.

afam4eva: I think Iniesta did well in this competition but he was not even in the running for the best player. It was between Pirlo, Xavi and probably Balotelli. I think they should have created a "Humilty" award for this tourney because i don't know how being humble has anything to do with what is played on the field of play. If it's that important then i see no reason why Kanu Nwankwo has not won the world best player award.

Iniesta deserved it. If you watched Spain, you could see that he was consistent from game 1 to the final. Always among the 2 or 3 most dangerous Spanish players on the field. You mentioned Balotelli and I have to disagree with you. If Balotelli should be considered, why not Mesut Ozil, Cesc Fabregas, Ronaldo, Moutinho?
