An armed robber was set ablaze today after himself after his accomplice, who managed to escape, shot a lady dead outside a commercial bank at the Suru-Alaba area in Lagos.

According to an eyewitness who sent in the photos, two men tried to rob the deceased lady as she stepped out of the bank and shot her in the head before trying to steal her money. Fortunately, passersby where fast enough to apprehend one of them. They beat him and set him on fire.

The body of the deceased lady has been deposited in the morgue.

I don't know about bullet proof charms but I've witnessed "Cutlass or Machete proof" jazz. I was in senior secondary school then and I followed one of my big "bros" in the neighbourhood who was in the University to the house of a native doctor. He told me that he was going there to procure charms which could protection him against knife stabs or machete cuts. So, we went.

On getting there, it was the son of the native doctor that carried out the procedure. I stood by and watched as he made some incisions with a razor blade on my big bros chest and back. He then rubbed some powder stuff on the spots where he made the incisions, more or less mixing it with blood seeping out from the spots and rubbing it in.

Next, he started to talk to my bros about the things that could render the charms impotent. Amongst other things, he said that my bros should take care not to pass under a line where washed clothes are hung to dry. As he was talking, suddenly, somebody just emerged from another room and struck my bros twice with a Cutlass! First on the back, and as he swung the second below, aiming for the head, my bros put his arms up to shield his head and the cutlass hit him on his foream. This happened right before me ! The cutlass blows were savage and unexpected, and my bros was screaming in pain. But guess what ? They were just testing the efficacy of the juju and there was no injury on my bros, despite the really savage machete blows, just a mark that looked like that from a cane stroke.

As I said before, this thing happened right before my very eyes. I believed in the potency of juju there from. As we walked back home that day, my bros told me that those boys also did bullet-proof charms that worked for people.

Ok. I caught glimpse of a notorious cult kingpin being dissected open like catfish in one of our militant universities back in the day. He bled like a sacrificial he-goat despite all the talk of bulletproof charm. Maybe his babalawo credit ran out that day, or perhaps there was network problem in the land of the juju. Don't rely on those charms. When you hear gunshots, bail like usain bolt

plainol:
As more and more countries dump the US dollar for other national currencies, the dollar and the US are becoming increasingly isolated.

In order to avert a sudden dollar collapse, the US has taken robust measures in the past to avoid this, and went as far as militarily attacking countries that dumped the dollar.

Iran’s decision on April 18 to dump the dollar makes an American military onslaught on the country all the more likely if we look at recent history.

Iraqi President Saddam Hussein had announced that Iraq would no longer sell its oil in US dollars just prior to the US launching its regime change mission in 2003. The US had pushed for a no-fly zone over Iraq which was a tactical move that led to air superiority over Iraq, and the overthrow of the regime. The same tactic was used in Libya some years later.

In 2011, NATO militarily attacked Libya, enforcing a no-fly zone over the country, to thwart Libyan leader Muamar Gaddafi’s attempt to create a gold-backed African currency in dinars. Gadaffi had an estimated 150 tons of gold, and had also pushed African and Middle Eastern governments to also dump the dollar.

In 2011, Editor of the Daily Bell Anthony Wile had written that the central banking Ponzi scheme requires an ever increasing base of demand and the immediate silencing of those who would threaten its existence. According to analysts at the time, if Libya and other nations were to dump the greenback, it had the potential of bringing down the dollar and even the world monetary system. This concern had led former French President Nicolas Sarkozy to call Libya a threat to the financial security of the world.

Gaddafi had almost as much silver reserves as he had gold, which meant his idea of creating an African currency posed a serious threat to the French franc (CFA), which was the main currency in West Africa. Even when former president of the Ivory Coast Laurent Gbagbo had planned to move away from the CFA and wanted to encourage other West African nations to do so, the hand of the French was evident in his removal from power. For years he was held by the International Criminal Court without charge.

There is no question that the West wanted both Iraq and Libya’s oil, but the straw that broke the camel’s back was the insistence on moving away from the US dollar.

Syria is yet another example of a country that in 2006 had switched the primary hard currency it used for foreign goods and services from the dollar to the euro, to make it less vulnerable to pressure from Washington. In US foreign policy circles, the fact that Syria had strong relations with Cuba, Venezuela, Argentina, Iran, Russia and China was already problematic, but moving away from the dollar was intolerable.

As former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton later admitted, the US poured arms and cash into the hands of Sunni rebels in a proxy war that continues today.

On April 16, Turkey decided to repatriate all the gold it had in the US in a move to dump the dollar. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that everyone should be trading in gold. This was a major blow to the US economy given that Turkey is the 11th largest gold holder with 591 tons of gold worth US$23 billion. The fear of the US is that this will lead to a domino effect that will not only affect US leadership in the global economy, but bring down the US economy itself.

Two days later on April 18, Iran decided to dump the dollar and use the euro. President Hassan Rouhani and his cabinet decided the euro will be used when giving the Rial’s exchange rate in all official statements and acts.

What was the reaction to that?

Exactly three weeks later President Donald Trump announced the US was pulling out of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. This was vociferously resisted by the Europeans who are refusing to be dictated to by US foreign policy whims. France has even said it will start offering euro denominated credits to buyers from Iran for goods made in France. It is all so hypocritical when one considers that Iran has consistently kept to its side of the nuclear deal according to the IAEA, and Iran has never invaded anyone in its history.

But the US has more than just Turkey and Iran’s recent announcements to worry about. Last year China rolled out a payment versus payment system for Russian ruble and Chinese yuan transactions. Earlier this year Pakistan announced that it is replacing the dollar with the yuan for trade with Beijing. If more countries follow suit what we may see is a US recession at best, and certain global economic turmoil.

Politics / Re: 2019: 5 Concerns APC Should Worry About From The Ekiti Governorship Election by Rhea(f): 7:40pm On Jul 15, 2018
KingOfAmebo:
The most-anticipated Ekiti governorship election have come and gone and finally a winner have emerge governor-elect in the person of Dr. Fayemi Kayode of the APC but looking at the various intriguing dramas that preceded the election, some APC apologists are already using the victory in Ekiti as a yardstick that would determine the outcome of the 2019 election: one of the apologists with the handle salvationproject even created a thread that graced the front page of nairaland in a chest beating euphoria, how laughable?

https://www.nairaland.com/4618578/5-lessons-nigerians-should-learn

Below are five things APC MUST be concerned about in preparation for 2019.

1. We know this Is Oshiohmole's First Victory

We all know this is Oshiohmole’s first victory as APC chairman, just as much he knows he has a huge task ahead of him come 2019.

2. APC/Buhari Is Definitely NOT Going To Win 2019

We all know how outgoing Governer, Fayose has been a torn in the flesh of Buhari/APC, So, its normal that the present administration will be desperate to win, they will employ every merchinary within their reach to prove a point, this doesn't represent the views of the masses who complain bitterly of the poor state of governance, poverty, disregard for the rule of law, romance with glaring fraud, unending certificate scandals...just to name a few. The government have failed her integrity test.

3. 2019 election will be a walk over.

Nigerians are tired of this administration, it is evident in the whirlwind of social media vent of anger and frustration which was similar to what happened prior 2015. In fact, I remember the heat on nairaland back then. APC supporters claiming those complaining on social media won't influence the outcome of 2019 should ask PDP how they lost in 2015.

4. Many APC faithfuls would wish they made an early decision to join the emerging political force.

Just as prior 2015, APC became a force by the merging of political parties, same is happening now with political parties merging with PDP. A wise APC supporter should follow suite and join the force or be embarrassed come 2019

5. The Formidable Power to kick APC out of the seat of power is still at a teething stage before and during the Ekiti election, The merger will mature into a formidable power come 2019.

Two heads is and will always be better than one, a political party merger is and will always be an advantage. The new merger with the PDP is still very young and have not even began their ground work, they are still in the situation room and were not even part of the just concluded Ekiti election.

Conclusion: It would be unwise for APC to use their victory in the just concluded Ekiti election as a yardstick of winning the coming election in 2019.

Only half of registered voters turned out to vote. With this lacklustre attitude by Nigerian voters, we might as well just tell Bubu to continue sticking it into all of us till 2023. PVC is useless if we don' turn out on election day and use it.

Health / Re: Free Mosquito Nets Used On Farms In South-South - Doctor Laments by Rhea(f): 7:35pm On Jul 15, 2018
goldcoinhub:
A Nigerian doctor has taken to Instagram to express her sadness on what she experienced in one of he communities where they distributed free mosquito nets to the residents to curb the incident of malaria.

According to the doctor, she was initially asked by the men in the community to give them the mosquito nets instead as the women don't use it in their homes, rather they take it to farm to cover their vegetable.

She explained that she declined and insisted it would be for the women, but on her way out of the community, she was surprised to spot a farm where the nets are being used to demarcate the plots and protect their farm crops.

The doctor was saddened by the sight and wonder when malaria will be finally eradicated from Nigeria.

She wrote:

Took this picture somewhere in the South South. We have preference for women and children in whatever we do for obvious reasons. But at this campaign the men urged me to give the nets to them. That the women will use it for their vegetable farms......I declined but on my way out of this community see what I found. If mosquitoe nets find their way to farms rather than beds...how far away are we from malaria eradication......long journey.#healthforall #iwillnotgettired #publichealthadvocate #malaria

https://lailasnews.com/doctor-laments-as-residents-use-free-mosquito-nets-they-received-on-their-farms/

This is what happens when donor agencies are not in tune with the needs of their target population. Obviously and shockingly, hunger ranks higher on the list of these women than malaria. They would rather fill their mosquito ridden bellies than be malaria-free and hungry. People will shock you all the time with what's important in their lives.

Crime / Re: Kidnappers And Killers Of John Iheanacho Arrested (Photos) by Rhea(f): 9:55pm On Jul 08, 2018
dainformant:
The police today shared pictures showing the moment some notorious kidnappers were nabbed by the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the IGP Monitoring Unit last month. The suspected criminals were responsible for the death of a staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, John Iheanacho.

Despite collecting a ransom of N6million from his family, the kidnappers held the victim hostage in their camp in Afam, a community in the Oyingbo area of the state, until he died from a gunshot wound.

His demise was hidden from the family about three months after his abduction, when his corpse was found in a shallow grave at the camp by the police.

It was learnt that the seven-man gang had trailed a man in a Toyota Camry to an estate in Irebe, a suburb of Port Harcourt, on March 20, 2018 but missed their target.

While returning from the operation in the night, they saw Iheanacho driving into the estate and went after him in their car. The man was in front of his house when they intercepted him.

They were said to have shot him in the leg and whisked him away in his car to their camp.

It was gathered that they subsequently contacted the deceased’s wife and demanded a N50m ransom, which was later reduced to N6m.

It was gathered that the family reported the case to the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team as the gang failed to release the man after the ransom was paid.

The operatives subsequently tracked down the suspects, who led them to the camp, and Iheanacho’s body was exhumed.
