But come to think of it. This is a top economic policy maker who have done more writeups in ethnic politics and religion with hardly any in finance and economnics. You must give the man credit ! He has exceeded all my expectations with his simplistic Bsc level approach to the economy.
But this is a country with GEJ as president, another simplistic mediocre |

kokoA: From all the replies I have seen so far, I can confidently say we are all looking at it fro a lay man's point of view. I refused to be convinced that CBN has done something wrong (that is if the report is true) until a reputable actor in the financial sector comes up ti criticize it.
If the Pat Utomis, Paschal Dozies, Ezekwesilis, Okonjo-iwealas, etc have not made any negative remarks about this move, then I don't think anybody here is well informed about the operations of the CBN. You're right, its either the CBN act needs to be checked or Sanusi's head needs to be checked ! |

Ekweremadu was lobbying for senate president
Emeka ihedioha lobbying for house speaker
Some unelected persons lobby for Igbos to accept SGF in the hope he wud hv the chance to be appointed.
Ohaneze keeping mute while demanding to know the "total package" . Is a refinery coming to an Igbo state? If not, is a petrochemical coming ?
If not, will an Igbo man b getting d third national telephone carrier- as Adenuga got the 2nd? If not, FCT minister- to compensate thousands of genuine Igbo victims who lost their houses from mallam erufai ethnic cleasen? If not,
Wud he - GEJ, set up a commission to negotiate n seriously lobby for the release of nigerians in foreign jails - vietnam to kandaha, kum lumpu to Cambodia and SA ? If not,
Then we will insist on senate presidency. U see when I see tribalists I try to make a picture of what a fool looks like. All these guys in politics are not there for the good of anyone or tribe. They are there for business. The moment they get their personal goals then they are fine. They just use tribalism as a leverage for their own good. Its a shame that politicians who will stoop to any levels to attain personal goal will drag a whole race of people down with them. And for a people who have achieved a lot amidst total neglect by various governments, I must say that this generation of Igbos (and i dont mean only the leaders) is becoming a huge disappointment/embarrassment. |

Sun of god: Sanusi is a civil servant and must do what his masters say.
Dont blame Sanusi - I'm sure these are not his plans but those of the people that control the CBN.
Private bankers own the 'Central Bank of Nigeria' - Not the Nigerian Govt.
All they are doing is investing in assets of the back of Nigerians.
Most people struggle to grasp that fact. Really, so why have I been wasting time in these banks when I can buy shares in CBN. Cant find there shares on NSE though. Can you help ? |

I think Igbos should be asking the simple question, what did they gain last time around when they had the senate president position. Focus should be placed on the SE governors to perform.
For a people who recovered from the abyss of the post-civil war era to where they are today, it is very disapointing to see them descending to this level. |

I once read read something in a UK library about how there was no Yoruba or Igbo ethnic groups as it is today etc before the white man came. We only used to have Egbas, Owos, Epes, Oyo, Ife etc Same we had Onisha, ngwas , arochukwu, mbaise etc It was the white man that came and detected the similiarity in language and called us Yoruba and Igbo. Since then we've been fighting ourselves based on this.
That is because we never bothered to tell our own story ourselves. Our story was told by the British the way they saw it. |

I knew sooner or later, you would get invoved in Delta matters. It affect both of us, so welcome my brother.
I toatly agree with sibcid analysis. It is the likes of uduaghan and his failing administration, that has chosen to create this tribal difference rather than perform. Uduaghan's dislike is firmly not because of where he comes from but simply because of his dismal performance. the man has just not worked, instead of tackling the issues that would have made him a success, he is busy peddling stories about how the Urhobo's do not want the minorities to rule.
I am from Delta North, but I support Ogboru for one simple reason. I am convinced that he would have been a far better and productive governor that uduaghan has shown to be.
@Beaf, if you make bold statements such as delta being the 3rd most developed, I think it is only fair to all that you produce evidence, not asking people to open new threads And ur belief is based on his history of being a coup plotter or what ? |

wired123: Yoruba The most comprehensive source of photographs on Yorubas.
Yoruba Onitsha, Orisha
Introduction: By PHILIP EMEAGWALI
I am a Yoruba by birth (born in Akure, western region) and Igbo by heritage. As a native Onitsha Igbo, I trace my ancestry to Eze Chima, a prince who rebelled against the Benin royal dynasty and emigrated from the kingdom. Other Igbos that trace their lineage to Eze Chima include Onicha-Ukwu, Onicha-Olona, Onicha-Ugbo, Obior, Issele-Ukwu, Issele-Mkpima, Issele-Azagba, Ezi, Abeh and Obamkpa.
Native Onitshans speak a dialect of the Igbo language with several Benin/Yoruba words such as "Obi" (of Onitsha) and "Oba" (of Benin). In fact, the word Onitsha (Onicha) is a corruption of the god "Orisha." The bini name for River Niger is Ohinmwin. The Onicha Igbo call it "Orinmili." In a few years, we will have DNA tests that proves (or disproves) the Onitsha-Benin-Yoruba connection.
In fact, a lost dialect of the Yoruba language, called Olukwumu, is spoken in Brazil and in a few Igbo communities named Anioma, Idumu-Ogu, Ubulubu, Ugboba, Ugbodu, and Ukwunzu (M. A. Onwuejeogwu, 1987 Ahiajoku Lecture
The absence Olukwumu in core Yoruba land proves that these communities are the Lost Yoruba Tribe that were fleeing from slave raiders. (Excerpt)

Follow this link to read up on what Emeagwuali has to say . . . . .
http://emeagwali.com/photos/yoruba/photo-essay-on-yoruba.html The problem is that the author is talking from a modern concept. He is Yoruba by birth as he was born in Yorubaland. The same way Obama is American by birth. He is Igbo from Onitsha by Heritage As Obama is Kenyan by Heritage. But he was referring to his ancestral influence. Philip has always been a pro-black Pan-African. He is a modern man while some of you are just tribesman. https://www.virginmedia.com/images/rf-1.jpg |

Whats so surprising about that ? Present day Igbo is a civilization made up of migrants from far and near. Which explains the the fact that Igbo is the most varietal language.
Same can be said about England who trace their roots from various parts of Europe and Scandinavia, Bavaria and Rome and even Greece. Some even claim that the royal family is from Germany. These does not make them any less English.
A certain philosopher once said that civilization is the coming 2gether of cultures. That is also why the Igbos throughout history has never had a central control.
Only uncivilized remote tribes can claim a common ancestory. But I no call anybody name o ! |

Beaf: I don't give a rats arse what you "own." If you practice bigoted or supremacist politics, you will be badly received by those who are not in your group. Its very simple logic really. Hasn't this been the problem of Yoruba politicians all along ? It seems to be a culture demanded by the Yorubas that their leaders must depict loyalty to Yorubas by expressing contempt for other tribes. Tinubu for one is not a tribalist, this is a guy that as governor of Lagos state, hired commissioners from other ethnic groups. But in other to appeal 2 yorubas he has 2 show contempt for others. This is the same qualities which denied many brilliant Yoruba leaders of national acceptance including Awo, Bola Ige, Adesanya etc (With OBJ being the only exception) although he is well disliked by his Yoruba Kit and Kin I must add that the Ibo political class have always been Nationalistic in Orientation and Ngige wont be the last. From Zik , Ekwueme, Anyaoku, Nnamani, Okadigbo etc (Ojukwu being the one exeption) but some may argue that he was a product of circumstance at the time. Its seems that to gain the trust of the Ibos u have to show accomodation for others. It might just be a cultural thing . Not tryna say that Yorubas are any less hospitable than Ibos or any tribe 4 that matter. Just Food for thought. |

So who where the founders of ACN. I remember Solomon Lar, Audu Ogbeh, Chris Ngige, Ben Obi, Abubakar Rimi and reports of Atiku Abubakar in the backgroud, , (Practically every politician exiled by OBJ and Ali's PDP). Tinubu later joined with the remnants of an OBJ battered AD. Why do some people we act like they were were born yesterday ? |

The pendulum of power in Igboland needs to swing to Eastern Igboland, because you all are allowing a tribalistic party to make inroads into the very heart of Igboland. Anambra has tried PDP and APGA and they were both unfavourable. Do u expect them to try PPA ? What has the party got to do with the performance of the candidate ? Their only performer of late is in AC. Please dont get carried away by this brand of extreme tribal politiking. |

texazzpete: You're a dolt! You talk about Akunyili being a superstar in politics. Then you babble on about NAFDAC. Is NAFDAC politics? You say she struggled to rebrand Nigeria. You call that campaign that was doomed from the start a worthwhile gesture? How did she go about it? Wasting our money on that worthless idea? Nigerians knew that the who shebang was just silly. What rebranding when we all saw the greedy woman dancing away at a 100 million naira birthday party for the then education mininister, all the while ASUU had been on strike for 3 months? What rebranding, telling us all to patronise and buy Nigeria while at the same time all her fellow ministers were travelling out for the smallest of medical ailments? Even more laughable, while you claim that this lady worked very hard to rebrand Nigeria, when she came up before the Senate and was asked to tell everyone her successes during the campaign, all she could mention was the following milestones.
1. Forced Sony to apologize to Nigerians 2. Banned District 9 movie.
I don't know about you imbeciles, but as far as i am concerned this is nowhere close to being any value for the hundreds of millions (if not billions) spent. If you, a barely literate clod knows that Nigeria cannot be rebranded, why did a Professor not know this?
Your comments on the FEC and her letter are rather amusing. May i remind you that this woman was employed as an Information minister? PLease judge her on her performance as a minister jo! And frankly, she was incompetent! Since u are interested in raising senseless points let me remind you also that a minister is not necessarily politics if so is Aganga a politician ? She failed in rebranding Nigeria because u lot are unredeemable and shameless low life scums (And amazingly proud of it ) , I wasn,t commenting on her success in that regard but giving her credit for showing courage and heart in attempting 2 do wot she did. The same heart and courage that enabled her to speakup , when shameless scumbags who called themselves your leaders cowered away at the FEC. Nigeria will continue to struggle with people with your mentality around. Look at the ignorant rants u just spewed. So tell me who was employed to say the truth at the FEC. So she was wrong to speakout because it was not her job. And the fact that her fellow ministers were corrupt, was all her fault. Is that how desperate u are to discredit her. I agree with u on the fact that everyone knows that Nigeria is unredeemable. we are eternally condemed by God (I hope that gives u a lot of satisfaction) Scumbag ! |
