9jaganja:@OP assertion that Ngige joined ACN during the last elections. |
KnowAll:FYI Ngige joined ACN before Tinubu. ACN was formed by Solomon Lar, Audu Ogbe, Abubakar Rimi, Ngige, Ben Obi and other PDP Exiles as at the time with Atiku in the background. |
This thread is now stale and left with some people who were unfortunately born with a low IQ and overly simplistic mindsets. My Final points on this issue are A mans achievement cannot be based on quantifiable attributes. Thomas Jefferson (April 13, 1743 – July 4, 1826) was the principal author of the Declaration of Independence (1776) and the third President of the United States (1801–1809). He was an influential Founding Father, and an exponent of Jeffersonian democracy. Jefferson envisioned America as a great "Empire of Liberty" that would promote republicanism.[1]This basically summaries why Thomas Jefferson is so respected in the US. His Visions and his philosophy. His sense of direction for a Nation at a time when one person needed to play the part. As a founding Father ZIk is both Nigerias Thomas Jefferson and George Washington. But I know some of us will not have respect for him as long as he has never "put food on out table." or did not have tribal affiliations. This summaries the problem with the Black race and Nigeria in particular. Our shallow thinking knows no bounds. Our continuous lack of ideological philosophy. Our continuous hunt for short term strides over a long term direction. Well on this note I sign off. Wisdom and Knowledge is a choice which can be rejected |
What a useless topic. "The best president Nigeria never had". That statement sounds re-tarded. So how come he was the best president when he was never president. Ojukwu poetry ![]() That statement was the closest Awo came to becoming president. That must've been the only time someone called Awo and president in the same sentence. From the way some of you r going , he might still make one day ![]() You just need to try harder |
Eko Ile:All this is all empty talk. I tot u were of the opinion that the only way to great leadership was through material achievements which can be accounted for long after the demise of the leader (As is the case with Awo). U had dismissed all Ziks achievements as not being material and now u are either talking about wars, plagues and prison time to justify others. I was only trying to show u global leaders who are not respected as a result of material achievements. But as expected u are either being evasive or you don't have the cognitive skills to understand. While others who where at the same side of the argument with u might have got the message bowed out of the topic gracefully, u are still insist on exposing urself. Well I cant stop u, carry on ![]() |
alj_harem:No u did not, let me repeat myself what are the material, capital or infrastructural achievements of George Washington, Nelson Mandela or Thomas Jefferson which are still being felt my American and SAs, endearing them to their respective people. your answers had nothing to do with the highlighted. Read carefully and if dont have answers please dont waste my time. |
Still waiting for an educated mind to tell me what material, capital or infrastructural achievement of George Washington, Nelson Mandela and Thomas Jefferson asides being the father of the independence movement of their individula nations. This question has opened the eyes of a few who have quietly slipped out of the discussion. |
Eko Ile:I also asked u what other visionary leaders elsewhere in the world with which we would like to compare Zik achieved you could not list any. You keep on trying to compare him to ur Awo. Amazing how no one else can come up with an answer. I will ask again. Please List the material achievements of people like George Washinton, Thomas Jefferson and Nelson Mandela that makes them so highly respected by their own people. |
Plutarch:And Zik was the First Senate President, First head of state, first commander in chief and first president. If those are not achievements as a politician, tell me what did George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Nelson Mandela achieve in material tha have attracted respect from their people. |
As an administrator Awo could be the best Nigeria ever had. But u cannot compare both of them based on Awos hight points as an administrator only. Its just like saying Wole Soyinka is far greater than Awo just because u had only compared them based on academic qualifications. When u want to compare 2 people u compare them all round. As a politician, Zik achieved far more than Awos widest dreams. The fact remains that Awos only National relevance was as a finance minister under general Gowon. Asides that he was completely irrelevant to most Nigerians outside the western Nigeria. |
Eko Ile:So what counts as an achievement in America is not an achievement in Nigeria. I guess due to Nigeria's high standards as a Nation of Achievers compared to the US. If that is what u believe then I cant change that u can go on with ur belief. But for anyone else interested in this topic, my question remains. List the material/quantifiable achievements of people like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Nelson Mandela that makes them so endeared by their people. |
edo.girl:Can u please list George Washinton, Thomas Jefferson and Nelson Mandelas quantifiable achievements and tell me why they r so duly respected. Cant you see that there something wrong with Nigerian mentality and y the country is in such a mess |
volasunkan:He founded NCNC the first party with a national base The first Nigerian head of state. The first Nigerian president The First Nigerian president of the senate amongst others what else do u want from the guy ? Nelson Mandela is not known for building roads , schools and any infrastructure for that matter but he is still the most respected SAn George Washington was a politician and a soldier Some of u just take tribalism to another level You can give Awo his due respect without trying to belittle Zik. If Awo was acheived all i have just listed, he would've been a god. Zik is the greatest of Nigerias political history. The next is probably Obj. For those of us outside western Nigeria Awo is nothing to us. I know it doesnt feel good but u have 2 live with it ! |
He had no acheivents that had National implications in Nigeria but he was First head of state, First president , First senate president of one African country. And whats the country again ? ![]() |
@OP can i get a link to "website of nigeria banks" have never heard of that. Plus i dont think that Fidelity bank has less branches than , wema, unity or ETB. |
Anyway I have hope that Nigeria will get there very soon. The likes of China and India are growing due to the exposure and the world class policies of their policy makers. How can a CBN governor be making market unfriendly statements and actions with which he has kept the banking industry/stocks suppressed for this long. He is now overseeing a central bank which now engages in commercial banking activities. This is just the story of Nigeria. ![]() |
A lot of u were dancing to the emergence of Sanusi as CBN governor in 2009. I had questioned his credibility, exposure and academic and proffesional qualification for the job. And the motive behind his appointment. I pointed out that the government as at the time was playing politics with the economy. The position of the CBN governor was effectively zoned to the north with people like gov yaguda considered for the position. He replaced a proffessor of international repute and well grounded in macro-economics. Now all we have is islamic banks and bank liquidations and forced takeover. |
Let OPC shut up and stop blowing hot air ! If Boko Haram strikes what will they do ? I suppose they will go on a rampage and start killing innocent civilians of nothern extraction. Not as if Boko Haram has a headquater somewhere or are its members known. Tackling terrorist group is a very difficult task and is not accomplished by threats. On the amalgamation of Nigeria, lazy foolhardy Nigerians and politicians always cry division so as to get a better shot at leadership. Blaming one another for their woes. Open ur eyes all of u. Everything wrong with this country is hapening on the state, local government and even village level. Nigerians are selfish, wicked and corrupt ! Before it used to be one north now Jos and various parts of the middle belt are in flames. The south western yoruba party ACN has hardly settled down, they have started to murder and kidnap themselves. This was how they murdered their own Bola Ige and blamed PDP and Nigeria for it. The other day it was Ijaw vs Itsekiri in Niger Delta And what about the kidnapers in the SE, how will dividing the problem solve that. Are the kidnapers from other parts of the country ? This is why Nigeria will never recover. If we keep carrying out the wrong diagnosis How would we be able to administer the right medicine. |
Next thing we will hear how its PDPs fault. and how GEJ and PDP trying to ferment trouble in South-west. The same way Ahmadu Bello and Zik combined to cause instability in western Nigeria bw Awos AG and Akintolas NNDP. The same way OBJ and PDP brought disunity to Afenifere and AD and then eventually murdered his very good friend Bola Ige. RUBBISH ! |
I don't think this is true. Not enough money but enough to steal. if resources are managed efficiently, the state budget should be enough. Governors tend to claim poverty as an excuse for intended failure. That was how successive governors claimed Anambra was poor until Ngige arrived and debunked the claim. While executed numerous projects and still had money to pay salary areas and retirement benefits. Now Obi is now making the same claim. |
Obi really has mental problem. Let him pay striking doctors, judges, teachers and pay civil servants the new minimum wage first ! Na wa for naija ![]() |
I believe the same feeling that lead to the counter-coup is begining to play up again. Fear of southern domination. The whole boko haram debacle seems to be a sheilded uprising by the north. |
As in January, the coup did not take off in the east or mid-west (where no troops were stationed). However, Lt-Col Murtala Muhammed repeatedly sent signals for northern soldiers in Enugu to complete the coup in the Eastern region. Some northern officers attempted to break into the Enugu armoury but were overpowered. The failure of the coup in the east created a stalemate similar to the one that existed in January 1966 when Nzeogwu was in control of the north, while Ironsi had the south. This time, the counter-coup had succeeded in every region other than the east. The desire of the northern officers to extend the coup to the east led to the civil war, and the war itself may be regarded as a continuation of that coup. Only in January 1970 did northern troops gain control of the east (and by extension the whole of Nigeria) and finish the counter-coup after a four year stalemate.hmmm Interesting insight ! |
Mathew 26:52 (NIV) - "Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword." As you very well know, the 7th commandment in the Bible says, "You shall not kill/murder." My theory is that Jesus meant something much deeper by his quote, as is the case with most of his other quotes. I feel that Jesus meant, "He who lives by the sword (murders) will go to Hell," as murdering is blasphemous against God. Jesus, being a peaceful man, never fought back against his enemies. He taught, "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you" (Matthew 5.43-45 ESV). This being known, a true Christian would never physically fight back against an attacker and obviously not support war. True, murder can be justified by societal standards, but it can never be justified by God. Since Christians put God above worldly things, Christians should be pacifists like Jesus taught us to be. |
We once had an argument with colleagues and he poited out that most of all the capital projects in Lagos where all done by Tinubu. The same question is beginning to gather momentum in and outside nigeria and even here on NL. Can someone please list Fasholas achievements in terms of capital projects ? |
In Nigeria, I think it just takes a governor two things to perform in office. 1. A very bad predecessor. 2. No godfather. |
alj_harem:So at least why is Zik not mentioned as a major facilitator in the creation of states for minorities in Nigeria? Edwin clark and not his tribe (Ijaw), Edos of Niger Delta talking about the development of the west ? This statement is kinda incoherent, dont u think ? |
Eko Ile:Since Awolowo died in 1987, it means that it took about 21 years to get their game right. That means that Igbos still have about 5 years to beat ur record. |
ferderick:Ojukwu was naive, over-ambitious and was a dictator even to the Igbos. This caused the death and starvation of millions of women and children He refused to give control of negotiating eastern issues to Zik and Zik had to go on exile. When he threatened him with treason and execution. He undertook a war which he had no backing internationally and ideas of how to win. And hung on for 3 years just to be leader at the huge expense of his people. Awo like Zik sought political resolution and shouldn't be blamed for Igbo woes. On whether he pursued a strategy of starvation is evil if that was the case. But like many allegations in Nigeria, I doubt it because there was a military blockade of biafra which would normally lead to food shortages. |
alj_harem:Hmmmm ! Interesting fact . |
alj_harem:Yes I did and it said nothing of itsekiris joining Afenifere. The only had a joint meeting. Last time I checked MEND and OPC where at loggerheads. ACN is not Awo because Tinubu is not an Awoist. I can see ur not smart enough Cant even put up a valid argument. Continue in ur ignorance I've got nothing further to say 2 u ![]() |
Why I ask this question is, Ngige could have joined APGA or any other party and still won the senatorial contest why did he choose ACN. I maybe speculating and silavating but my instinct tells me something is in the offering come 2015.
