OBAGADAFFI:
CBN said no to devaluation
Really to be fair i dont think devaluation is warranted at this time and if any it shld be quite minimal (5-10%)

From my night school analysis brent had average a price of abt 35 since this crisis erupt which wld mean a loss of 22 from budgeted 57, which is abt 40%, if this is view against the 1.7m production cap in place at 57 it wld mean that to be back at the budgeted equillibrum the country could increase production to 140% of 1.7m which is abt 2.4m. the next question is does the country has capacity for 2.4m bpd, while i am not sure of 2.4 at least by antecedent 2.2. - 2.3 is sure that leaves us at 0.1m short of being back at equillibrum. so the question is; is 0.1m bpd short should warrant devaluation, apparently it does not however given that the fact that the country goodwill in international market seems to be at an all time low then one could probably say some devaluation (5-10%) could cometo play

However if the country goodwill (in international markets) is high the talk of devaluation should not have even came to the table

Read about Spanish Flu pandemic.

At a point, they wrote that the virus goes from places to places and stays there for 1 month and if successfully contained, it kills all it wants or the people resist it. After that it is gone.

Now China and South Korean cases are drastically reduced. They have started closing all those makeshift hospitals.

EU problem was their free border policy. Now they are closing borders to contain it.

The fall is stocks worldwide is to price in the effect of the economic damage the virus will cause on companies books. After that government will support them and distribute me. Na that one my eye dey and not all these virus stories.

Once you start seeing reduction of cases on EU and US probably end of this March, market will look up. And those who I bought from will come and buy from me grin grin

Please tell the seller to come out today. grin and place at 10% offer. All I know is that if Zenith gets to N5, UBA will trade at 50kobo. grin

Are we sure that the same level of dividend will be possible come next year? I am not that optimistic.
High probability of not being attained

but i think worst case scenario 60-70% of prior year shld be achievable by the bank, and tehy wld fully bounce back by 2021 barring any other major world dislocation

The words of the minister doesn't in anyway express dissatisfaction with the status quo; he is simply not foreclosing future cooperation and collaboration with OPEC. The low prices are exactly what Russia wants and their aim is to force US Shale producers out of the market/business.

The earlier we get acclimatized to this, the better. Its a long road ahead.
.

oil dey your head

i wld also tell folks that when they are calculating forwards EPS / DY they shld be marking down by at least 30% cos there is over 90% chance that
numbers wld come in lower at the end of the year (though it might not show in Q1 yet cos we are not that hit by coro and the pass thru effect of lower oil price wld have some lag).

that being said it doesnt mean folks shld not buy at this level. all above wld just make sure that we are opening our eyes very well while doing the buying. i myself bought some stocks today and im still also in the market but doing so with a clear eye

Am not entirely convinced that all those funds are local. Some FPI's might be buying already. Money don too much ooo.

Either way, like you said, they have gotten the message loud and clear.
My Oga

All na local

PFA only hold abt 5-6% of total asset under management (>10Trillion) as equities whereas regulation allows them to hold as much as 15-20%.

That mean extra ammunition of over 1 trillion not yet used

so what u see today is chicken change if PFA (the big masquarede) decides to dance

GTB and Zen has done sales of N10Billion and counting.

Obene Kwa Kwa x3...
i like the battle of 12-1pm it send a clear and loud message to the FPI that there is liquidity within the country if they want to exit

my prayer is for such liquidity to exist at the ultimate point (FX)

if that happens then its a big positive for the country because after the dust of coro and price war settle u can be rest assured that they wld come back in drove because a major fear they have up until this week (i.e. ability for seamless exit) would have been adequately addressed

I didn't say Putin will prostrate o.

A delegation of nations (Nigeria, Angola, Venezuela etc) that are affected by the oil decline will go and beg Chief Putin. They will go and meet Otunba MbS. grin grin

Abeg and prostrate.
it is starting gradually

though i doubt the efficacy because Putin ultimate target is to beat back the Americans thwarting of his building of dependency of western Europe energy source on Russia (a la Nordstrom pipeline).
