Why does Robert Kiyosaki frown against investment in stock (with a preference for Real Estate) ? He advises in the 'Cash Flow Quadrant', that you should be the one floating the Stock  instead for others to buy and not to be the one buying from others. Any contributions ?
The cashflow quadrant should be divided into 4 so for each quadrant you have real-estate in which you get your tenants to pay the mortgage bit like floating a stock innit? grin grin grin grin

The second quadrant should be for stocks and equities

The third quadrant is CASH remember CASH is KING

The fourth quadrant should be your business venture that will be turning over your money on a regular basis or a source of regular income

Dont forget that FOUR is the number of BALANCE

Projected PAT N3.32bn, N7.27 bn and N9.10bn in 2008, 2009 and 2010 respectively. Worth mulling over i would say. On my watchlist till after the stock has come off TS. Anybody with the financials please holla! I'm talking about NSL

Managing director, Odunlami Kola-Daisi disclosed this during the company’s facts behind the forecast at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). He said the assurance stem from the inherent potentials in the company’s projected multiple streams of income.
“We are going to pay dividends forever while returns would grow by 60 percent annually”, he said.
The diversified income generating e-business of the NSL, are lottery, sub-franchise income, air time vending and e-payment among other elecrtronic-driven financial businesses.

However, annual turnover from airtime vending and lottery electronic payments is estimated at N564 billion and N600 billion respectively. Lottery (Lagos only) is expected to generate N60 billion annually while N48 billion is expected from Treasury income respectively annually.
Kola-Daisi noted that the projections also arose from technical agreements signed with five global financial system providers for sustained valued business. The providers are Ingenico of Paris, Valuecard, Premier Lotto, Arius Belgrade and K&G Wireless.
Details of the partnerships showed that the company has a five year exclusivity for i8550 and first right of refusal to all Ingenico terminals as well as delivery of end to end solution. It also enjoys a lifetime agreement with Valucard, the carrier of Visa cards in Nigeria.
Hi Roughcut, the question could be asked. IN AN EMERGING MARKET SUCH AS NIGERIA'S, WHICH IS MORE BENEFICIAL? BEING AN INVESTOR OR A SPECULATOR?
For me in an emerging market such as the NSE, being an INVESTOR will be more beneficial than being a SPECULATOR, as most of the stocks on the NSE still hold great potentials than are found in some stable markets.
The gist of the excerpts you referred to is

A SPECULATOR  is a person who observes and acts before the future occurs and this is perfectly correct since we agree that the NSE is an emerging market and there are inefficiences in the market therefore a speculator  uses these 'inefficiencies' to his/her own advantage to profit.

That is not to say the INVESTOR will also not do well it all depends on your investment objectives, risk appetite/profile and your psychological make-up.

The reason for  posting the article is actually the second-part that explains the technicalities  for opening a stock-brokerage account and how to trade stocks on the NSE and the importance of CSCS accounts.

A gold-mine of info there for the so-called 'green-horns'

Wait till when those who subscribed to the PO start selling and hopefully you can enter then when the price would somewhat trade downwards that would be the time to strike. Hopefully certificates would be verified before FY results are announced. It's on very strong bid now and that's why the price is sky-rocketing. Its a fundamentally sound stock anyday!

Na. This is not correct Roughcut. Abi I still dey sleep?

Above 70 or 80 = Overbought - Get ready to sell when it moves downwards out of  this region
Below 30 or 20 = Oversold      - Get ready to buy when it moves upwards out of this region

If you are using 80 and 20 then 70 and 30 will not give you any signal.
------
Overbought/Oversold
Wilder recommended using 70 and 30 and overbought and oversold levels respectively. Generally, if the RSI rises above 30 it is considered bullish for the underlying stock. Conversely, if the RSI falls below 70, it is a bearish signal. Some traders identify the long-term trend and then use extreme readings for entry points. If the long-term trend is bullish, then oversold readings could mark potential entry points.

Abi I dey see double?

---------
You can only use either 80 and 20 or 30 and 70 as your boundary values. Not both innit?

Mr pumping777 has clarified the issues
O pari

@Roughcut

I'm sorry upward and pumping are right but I agree you are mixing up usually above 70 or 80 is overbought and below 20 or 30 is oversold.

@ all
Pumping is right; because a price crosses 70 or 80 doesn't mean you should sell. It just there are too many buyers and and there will soon be a price correction. It may take one week or one month. One should be careful about these numbers, what they mean and how they are calculated. For example RSI calculated with 8 values will experience many more overbought or oversold positions more than an RSI calculated with 20 values.

The most important thing is these are numbers and should never be taken in a vacuum.
Which is the reason you usually do your analysis over a 50-day period which means the trend patterns are more reliable although you can get around this by using the fast and slow stochastic oscillators for shorter time frame  as these are not  lagging indicators but i think we can leave this for another time
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by RoughCut(m): 3:37pm On Feb 05, 2008
tosjay:
When RSI is at 70 or above, it's simply the time to SELL (i.e. OVERBOUGHT state).
At 30 or below, it's a strong indicator to BUY (i.e. OVERSOLD state)

Hope this helps!
So have you read my post again? What you said is what i have been trying patiently to explain! You can actually use 20 and 80 as your benchmark and i'm sure you will come to the same conclusion. It is the concept that matters and that is what you need to understand
InvestmentRe: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by RoughCut(m): 3:32pm On Feb 05, 2008
upward:
Still not sure about the above, I think you are mixing it all up Roughcut. when a downward movement of price is IMMINENT, will that now be a time to BUY or SELL, and when an UPWARD price movement is IMMINENT, will that now be a time to SELL? I think it's still the opposite, or am I missing somethinghuh
Trust me i'm not mixing it all up! When the RSI is ABOVE 70 it is OVERSOLD and a retractment downward is imminent that will be the time to BUY and when the RSI is below 30 it OVERBOUGHT and an upward swing is imminent and that will be the time to SELL

Read the statement in its enitirety and then you get the PICTURE and also refer to the comment i made about the 10 and 50-Day EMA then you will see they corroborate each other which is the reason you normally use or look at  more than one TECHNICAL INDICATOR

Let me know if the concept is still confusing

WOW, I'm really lost here embarassed, please can someone clear the bold portion of the above post. Looks to me like the opposite of what is said, so that we don't get mis-informed.
When the RSI is above 70 it is OVERSOLD and a retractment downward is imminent that will be the time to BUY and when the RSI dips below 30 it is OVERBOUGHT and a upward price movement is imminent and that will be the time to SELL

The RSI is actually 63.84 so approaching the magical figure

Thnx for spotting that!

Looks like cutix is about to do a runner as well. trading over the 50 line RSI now. has been in a trading range for months. a breakout seems imminent.
By the way to buttress the point i'm trying to make the divergence MACD between the 10-day EMA and 50-Day EMA is 0.16 which is telling you that the 10-day EMA closing price is  higher than the 50-Day EMA so the price is still trending upwards and guess what? the Q3 results are due anytime so that explains the trends on the charts!

Looks like cutix is about to do a runner as well. trading over the 50 line RSI now. has been in a trading range for months. a breakout seems imminent.
The number you need to be looking for is 70 the moment the RSI is above 70 it is overbought and retractment downward is imminent so that will be the time to buy and if RSI is below 30 it is oversold and an upward price swing is imminent so that will be the time to SELL.

At present the RSI is somewhere between the 65-70 mark so give it a few more days and see if it breaches the 70-mark that wiil be the time to strike. The last time the RSI breached the 70-mark was between the 3-11 Dec'07 which would have been the time to buy if you had been watching!

The last time the RSI dipped below 30 was around 25-26 Dec '07 surprise surprise which would have been the time to SELL

So if you are buying i think it will soon approach striking distance give it a few more days
