Let me tell the op this:

1. Christians and muslims all over the world dont see eye to eye. And generally it has been discovered that the muslims always try to dominate and impose their views once they have a large number (not necessarily majority). We see it in lebanon, Egypt, turkey and Nigeria at large and we also see it in yorubaland. The muslims want to lead others always. It wont change. No secular country can ever be at peace if it has a large muslim population. Nigeria is no exeception.

2. The structure left to us by the british would have been the best for a nation to live peacefully. Each region had control over their resourses, security and economy. There was referandum which was used to create the midwest region and to carve out southern cameroon. Today things are decided for 180 million ppl in abuja! By bigots who hate them. Buhari that hates igbos will now gv a damn that ppl are dying or give referendum for biafra? Peace can never be achieved with our current structure.

3. Our ideology are not the same. We shouldnt be one country. Its not about religion. I can tell u now that i as an igbo xtian has more in common with a Yoruba muslim than i do with an hausa/fulani pastor.
People just don't seem to get it or benefit from the current structure to think otherwise. The current structure never worked, it's not working and will never work. Call it restructuring, Reformation or another civil war, we are only delaying, it's inevitable.

Noooo, Aroms is a ranter (go to his Facebook page and see for yourself), what he wants is for people to contribute money so he can go do mechanized farming in Liberia.
Now, he's claiming to had invested millions in Agriculture in Nigeria, and it has yielded for me doors to nations presidents. On some other posts, on the same page, he lamented and wailed, how the Nigerian government and system frustrated him and his farm in Benue state.

I unfollwed him and chose Strive Masiyiwa instead.

If they don't make mistakes, how will they learn? I was so surprised how young those presidents and prime ministers I mentioned were. Stop mentioning Yahaya Bello everytime we mention youth, he is one in a hundred and 46 years old.
The destiny of 190m people is not what you use to do trial and error. Pilots don't learn how to fly with a Boeing 777 loaded with 120 passengers. Yahaya Bello, Dino Melaye, Iyabo Obasanjo, Dimeji Bankole and co are all big failures. The speaker of Ogun assembly could be considered a "youth", what meaningful parliamentary reforms or otherwise can be attributed to his leadership? Jonathan was young when he became Governor, so is a lot of the politicians elected beginning 1999. The problem is competence, not age. Buhari is not competent, not open to ideas and not fit to head a medium sized business in sane climes, and so is most of the current crop of Nigerian elites, political or otherwise.

I'll have to do a proper thread on this topic before we start voting in "corrupt, young and energetic fools" to continue in the footsteps of the dying old fools currently leading us.

Footnote: Ask yourself this question, how many young friends of yours are competent enough to lead your 50 billion naira business operation?

Those counties did not elect youths to power, they voted competent leaders. Competence does not know age. A corrupt, incompetent youth is worse off than the older one. You don't want "youths" like Gov. Yahaya Bello as leaders.

So you mean party like apga or any common parties in cannot contest for presidential position in Nigeria cos they don't maximum Parliamentarians?

So how can they build their party?

I'm sorry to say this, you reply is unworthy to be credited.

Changing the president does not change Nigeria, that was my point. You are naive about politics if you don't understand that. And you are not alone, alot of people overestimate presidential powers in a democracy. Trump could deliver on his tax cut promise because the GOP dominates the Congress. The sort of reforms Nigeria needs does not come from having Sowore or Fela Durotoye sitting in Aso Rock alone, you need your men in the Senate and a political structure that helps with dealing with all the outside intricacies encountered in a democratic setting.
Besides the likes of APGA, LP, etc are not much different from APC and PDP.
The problem with your thinking is why so many supposedly good people get to become governors and can't do much but just pay salaries and build some roads.
The young campaigners for proper democracy in Hong Kong and autonomy from mainland China have been building their base, campaigning and making themselves known for more than 4 years now (most of them about 18), the first sets just got elected to Parliament this year. Things might start to get real by 2027 onwards, that's if those coming out now don't back down after they lose next year.

I have been saying it, the only way to stop all these ruckus in this country is electing the virgin parties.

The two bloody sucking parties (name withheld) are the problem we have in Nigeria for good governance.

One of this two party is behind boko-haram while the another one is behind the current Fulani herdsmen terrorism.

They know themselves and it cannot be disclosed to us
neither we they exposed themselves.
The idea of a virgin party is not bad, but people just don't win elections 1 year to election date. And changing the president alone is not enough, they also need sizeable population in the Parliament. That requires grassroot foundation, you don't build that in 12months. The people are willing for new voices, the new voices do not seem to understand how to build a party.

Though you make a good point, but the question is the guns used to terrorized the armless citizens is gotten or given to them by whom.......pontential somebody is behind these menace.

The cattlemen I know when I left Nigeria are good and polite but from the time President buhari was emerged the president it looks like anything tragedy that take place in this country is complicit on him because he's a Fulani..all this tantrums I see it as trabalistic sentiments.

In Goodluck Jonathan tenure we also witness this unfortunate stories but it was not intense like this.

The political parties in Nigeria has a role to play in this killings.. Our politicians can do anything to get into power.

All these killing is arranged by opposition parties... Let find the reason and stop being sentimental.

The killers are sponsored by the opposition yet the Buhari-led govt will not recognize them as terrorists, has never arrested them even when the Miyetti Allah claimed responsibility. Those seems to be the actions of someone enjoying Government backing and not the other way around.

The problem is MONEY

He said it was pathetic that the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) established by the Federal Government to fund tertiary institutions, could only give financial support to a few universities, while others were made to develop at slow pace.

And there it is....the cash is not there. Meanwhile,we insist on paying N40000 for degrees that should cost N600000 at least yearly. And Govt does not have the trillions...not billions...needed to fund universites.

Also

50 per cent of the institutions in Nigeria complained about epileptic power supply. Many of them rely on alternative power supply such as generators. This has resulted in increased cost of running the institutions.“About 37.5 per cent of the institutions perceived lack of support from the government through TETFund as a major setback in financing the development of infrastructure and they also complained of multiple-taxation.”

And weneed $300bn to fix power. Our reserves are at $40billion. Do the math.

Either we raise taxes, fees and whatnot...or we just close our eyes and take another LOAN....that our grandkids will still be paying.

$300bn to 'fix' power? What are you talking about?

I’m almost tempted not to even start any business in Nigeria. The sense of entitlement is ridiculous in most people.

Imagine the OP whining about a business system that he’s well aware of.

We have a long way to go in Nigeria.
Mr EgunMogaji, whether you start your business in Nigeria or Texas, you will be doing nobody but yourself a favor. You guys always making every issue to seem as though Nigerians are the only bad eggs on earth. Ask Google for the protests and court cases of drivers around the world (including the USA and London) against unfavorable terms Uber places on their drivers.
The Op shared his personal experience, mentioned some flaws that a right thinking mgt will do well to find improvements to and you waste no time in making it about Nigerians and entitlements.
Uber forgetting that it's driver's are clients too that needs to be catered to is one of what brought Travis down and Amazon & Alibaba understanding that sellers on their platforms are just as important as the buyers is what is driving them to the $1trn market cap, something that Jumia, Konga and Taxify are all finding hard to grasp.
Please do site your business in Houston or wherever you see fit where the people are hardworking and not "entitled", Nigeria do not need another entitled business owner, thank you.

Here's the truth. I lived during the era of most of these people that you mentioned and I saw details of their lives that are not really published in the media today.

The truth is that none of them is a saint and none of them is a devil. They are people like you and they have their good points and their flaws. Some people might like to highlight their good points and some people might like to highlight their flaws, but they have both flaws and good points.

I remember a letter I wrote to a Nairalander before the 2015 election. I said that most of the bad things that were being written about Buhari were untrue and I took the time to debunk them (I could do that easily because I remember his first administration very well), yet I told her that I didn't want Buhari to be president and I outlined the reasons (again, I could do that because I remember his administration very well). The truth is that Buhari has both his good and bad sides.

Once again, I'm a huge fan of both Fela and Abiola, but the truth is that both of them would most likely be in jail if they lived in this era (or if I was president).
I understand all that. People accuse Lee Kuan Yew of making his family members wealthy and Xi Jinping jails opposition members and probably has one or two murders under his belt. I am not looking for a saint(the wrong assumption I naively believed in 2015) or a 'good' person, I am looking for the great ones. I just do not see them in the post-colonial leadership or the present ones. And I've stopped caring, I don't expect anything worthwhile from our political establishment until about 2027 onwards.

On a sidenote, ever considered running for office(or be president as you said)

Those quotes are from Fela's own book and they are his words. From that point onwards both men became enemies and were ready to do anything to discredit each other.

Remember that Fela said that he had not even heard of Abiola before then. That was the reason that they became sworn enemies.
So Fela lied, just to tarnish another man's image? Meaning Fela is not the man he has been turned into today? I see this pattern repeating over and over again now. The past leaders are about as corrupt, tribalist, nepotistic and inept as current ones, Zik, Awo, MKO, Fela, etc. have their personality polished by those seeking to capitalise on it.
Anyway, I've stopped giving a damn, they were not great, no need looking at some 'glorious past', it's a distraction undecided. I'm looking for those brave enough to dream of a great tomorrow; it's proving difficult...

Fela and Abiola had issues because of Decca. Decca was one of the biggest record companies in Nigeria in the 1970s and '80s. Fela was signed to the Decca label. Abiola bought over the company and Fela believed that Abiola was cheating him (not paying him what he was due). That's how their quarrel began.
The excerpts you posted still does not explain Fela's criticisms of ITT and Abiola corrupt dealings in the song. Or should one take Fela's words with a grain of salt? I'm stupidly confused. I don't know why we don't write objective histories in this part of the world.

Stop blaming others for your problems. The generation of Europeans that colonized Africa is long dead, thier kids have poured and still pouring billions of dollars in aids into this place. If there's no enemy within, the one outside can do is no harm. We are our own problem.
