Hmm. just learnt something new. I actually thought campaigns are an exception.
No it's not. There are two problems here though.
1. The fact that only two of the presidential helis are working.
2. The President taking both away when there's just two and both of them need to take a trip.

The President can't sit in two helis at a time, meaning aides are the ones flying in the second. Is the VP's life now worth less than that of Presidential assistants? angry

Umm I'm not pro Apc o. so tone down.

As per the security assets, he's still the number 2 man and he doesn't have a choice. The day he became VP was the day he gave up moving around without state security. Until the day he cease being the active VP, his security will then be reduced. He doesn't have a choice.

That said, I'm not saying that this private chopper wasn't paid for from the nations coffers. It's a save face government currently.
There's no need to save face, he is a state asset so long as he's still the VP, even when he's going to his friends birthday party, state logistics must be provided. Flying private chopper is not the normal protocol. Asking questions should not be demonized just because election is near. He is the VP.

Approving Licence for GSM / telecommunications firms is different from sales of NITEL. According to reliable source NITEL and Mtel were sold to NATCOM in 2015 $282M. Is that when you started using MTN's and Co?

Still Where's the power
And selling a moribound and highly dysfunctional corporation with little in the way of useful industry assets and very slim chance of competing against the likes of Globacom and Airtel for $282m is a good deal for the Nigerian people if you ask me. And if those sales occur in 2015, you must not forget that Saraki and Atiku were in APC that time. It's OK to argue ideologically against privatisation of assets if you are a communist or socialist, but do not pretend as though those assets were delivering results before they were sold. Reality should, and must, always trump ideology.

Still Where's the power
My post was about the privatization of the Telecom industry, and NITEL was "the telecom industry" prior to that so to speak.

Privatization of the power sector was poorly done, and still in it's teenage years, it can still be salvaged. Force DISCOS to distribute prepaid meters or liberalise it's private purchase, allow them to charge reasonable price for energy consumed, improve the transmission capabilities(or better still decentralize the grid. DO NOT forget that TCN is still government controlled.), crush the quasi monopolies of the DISCOs by introducing competition like in the UK where you can choose, and attract $$$ investments into power generation.

Those things require the political will to piss off some powerful people in other to get the desired result, including the "masses"who will have to probably pay more in the short term for energy consumed. And the current government is too unwilling or too clueless, too broke, too averse to private investment(but in love with debt undecided) to get those things done.

Saraki complaining about subsidy , hunger and brokenness must have tightened its grip on the idiot

You suggested to buhari to sell refineries , Buhari said you want to sell it to your friends , obviously that's the truth , the NEPA,NITEL and co that you sold whats the outcome ?? instead of giving you chance to loot crude oil , black gold of the world , he approved 38 licences for modular refineries , all those your friends are free to invest in that

and bros, your waka nor pass abuja estate reach house where you be oga , you cannot understand the hustle of pepper / onion / yam sellers who travel from east to north and west to earn a living

so stfu
When NITEL was sold, the FG made a cool $1bn in licensing fees and gave us MTN, glo, Airtel, Swift, Spectranet, etc. Which in turn created more than 110million mobile connections and millions of internet users. Not to talk of millions of high paying jobs created in the Telecoms industry directly and indirectly. Need I go on?

NITEL was in shambles before being sold, and less than 500,000 lines were connected with all the meagre revenues being stolen by civil servants and politicians. Let's not because of politics forget this facts. NEPA privatization was poorly done, doesn't mean that it can't be fixed if there was enough political will.

People keep saying China executed corrupt politicians. How many corrupt politicians have actually been executed in China? The Chinese Communist party executes mostly political opponents. There are lots of corrupt politicians who despite being corrupt have never even been prosecuted because they are close to members of the politburo. If China is such an incorrupt country, why are they the 77th most corrupt country in the world?

It seems Nigerians just have bloodlust. Kill corrupt people, kill corrupt people, as if that solves anything. Derico was executed in Onitsha and burned. Did that stop armed robbery?
You're the first person on this thread with a good head. While China was developing, it's politicians and army generals were also becoming stupendously rich by selling shares of companies to themselves at pennies on a dollar amongst other forms of corrupt practices. The execution really became mainstream when Xi Jinping came to power in 2012. And it could be argued that it's for his own power consolidation and strengthening the party's hold on public sentiments.

Integrity doesn't create growth and Nigeria needs tons of it. An honest man can still lose money if he doesn't understand accounting. Integrity is only a plus, not the determinant for development. Infact, in the real world, corruption is weaved into all aspects of dealings.

His point is that Trader moni started few months to election and Osinbajo is personally going around distributing it and making political capital out of it. Toyin Saraki mentioned the Kwara experiment started in 2011, that is at the beginning of the administration.

The club probably had a lot of debt which the new owner has to repay. Dangote repurchased Dangote Flour Mills from Tiger Brands for 1 US dollar in 2015, but he took on all it's debt and pumped more than 10bn naira in.

Nigeria is his country too, he has the right to question how things are being run as much as anybody else. This is a democracy, not a monarchy.

And btw, his questions are genuine and valid. It's not about Buhari, it's about the office of the President having too much power and dabbling in too many irrelevants. Buhari will leave tops 2023, but Nigeria will still be here, those of you paid to sell him to us should not be so small-minded!
