. He, however, said: “I have listened carefully to the message. [b]I will speak with the Minister of State Petroleum. I will call for the latest production figures. [b] I know that it is in our interest to listen. We will cooperate.” So the Minister of petroleum doesn't know the figures? |

I was raised to believe that older people are wiser and should be respected. It's hard to respect them these days when they keep convincing you otherwise. And Osinbajo shouldn't have dragged his mama into this; " omo ogun ti n ko lulu ba mama e" 1 Like |

ikennaf1:No it's not. There are two problems here though. 1. The fact that only two of the presidential helis are working. 2. The President taking both away when there's just two and both of them need to take a trip. The President can't sit in two helis at a time, meaning aides are the ones flying in the second. Is the VP's life now worth less than that of Presidential assistants? |
Politics / Re: Osibanjo's Helicopter Crash Was Faked: Video Evidence. by RoyalPriesthuud(m): 4:03pm On Feb 03, 2019 |
ikennaf1:There's no need to save face, he is a state asset so long as he's still the VP, even when he's going to his friends birthday party, state logistics must be provided. Flying private chopper is not the normal protocol. Asking questions should not be demonized just because election is near. He is the VP. |

Politics / Re: Saraki: It’s Criminal To Say Nigerians Consume Over 50m Litres Of PMS Daily by RoyalPriesthuud(m): 12:26am On Dec 31, 2018 |
RevenGeMission:And selling a moribound and highly dysfunctional corporation with little in the way of useful industry assets and very slim chance of competing against the likes of Globacom and Airtel for $282m is a good deal for the Nigerian people if you ask me. And if those sales occur in 2015, you must not forget that Saraki and Atiku were in APC that time. It's OK to argue ideologically against privatisation of assets if you are a communist or socialist, but do not pretend as though those assets were delivering results before they were sold. Reality should, and must, always trump ideology. |
Politics / Re: Saraki: It’s Criminal To Say Nigerians Consume Over 50m Litres Of PMS Daily by RoyalPriesthuud(m): 12:19am On Dec 31, 2018 |
RevenGeMission:My post was about the privatization of the Telecom industry, and NITEL was "the telecom industry" prior to that so to speak. Privatization of the power sector was poorly done, and still in it's teenage years, it can still be salvaged. Force DISCOS to distribute prepaid meters or liberalise it's private purchase, allow them to charge reasonable price for energy consumed, improve the transmission capabilities(or better still decentralize the grid. DO NOT forget that TCN is still government controlled.), crush the quasi monopolies of the DISCOs by introducing competition like in the UK where you can choose, and attract $$$ investments into power generation. Those things require the political will to piss off some powerful people in other to get the desired result, including the "masses"who will have to probably pay more in the short term for energy consumed. And the current government is too unwilling or too clueless, too broke, too averse to private investment(but in love with debt ) to get those things done. |

RevenGeMission:When NITEL was sold, the FG made a cool $1bn in licensing fees and gave us MTN, glo, Airtel, Swift, Spectranet, etc. Which in turn created more than 110million mobile connections and millions of internet users. Not to talk of millions of high paying jobs created in the Telecoms industry directly and indirectly. Need I go on? NITEL was in shambles before being sold, and less than 500,000 lines were connected with all the meagre revenues being stolen by civil servants and politicians. Let's not because of politics forget this facts. NEPA privatization was poorly done, doesn't mean that it can't be fixed if there was enough political will. |

Politics / Re: Presidential Debate: Peter Obi's China References Got People Talking by RoyalPriesthuud(m): 8:13pm On Dec 15, 2018 |
einsteine:You're the first person on this thread with a good head. While China was developing, it's politicians and army generals were also becoming stupendously rich by selling shares of companies to themselves at pennies on a dollar amongst other forms of corrupt practices. The execution really became mainstream when Xi Jinping came to power in 2012. And it could be argued that it's for his own power consolidation and strengthening the party's hold on public sentiments. Integrity doesn't create growth and Nigeria needs tons of it. An honest man can still lose money if he doesn't understand accounting. Integrity is only a plus, not the determinant for development. Infact, in the real world, corruption is weaved into all aspects of dealings. |

The club probably had a lot of debt which the new owner has to repay. Dangote repurchased Dangote Flour Mills from Tiger Brands for 1 US dollar in 2015, but he took on all it's debt and pumped more than 10bn naira in. 3 Likes |

helinues:Nigeria is his country too, he has the right to question how things are being run as much as anybody else. This is a democracy, not a monarchy. And btw, his questions are genuine and valid. It's not about Buhari, it's about the office of the President having too much power and dabbling in too many irrelevants. Buhari will leave tops 2023, but Nigeria will still be here, those of you paid to sell him to us should not be so small-minded! 1 Like |
