I asked a question which obviously threw u into confusion.

So u think Nigeria will have one seaport wen we restructure n operate as regioan, lmfao ooo. Lagos revenue will fall massively because middle belt, SE, will have ports n Delta, Rivers, calabar, edo n akwaibom will have their own ports as well.

oil companies will have no option than to take their offices n HQ to niger Delta.

Lagos is only successful because of the unitary system of government, nothing more.

The real cool petition will start by then.

If igbos leave the SW, it will fucking fall so always remember that we are not afraid of being chased out of SW(though impossible)
I do not disagree with your point about a drop in revenue in the short term, and of some companies moving back to PH. But the drop won't be 'massively'. Most have admnistrative HQs in Lagos and not production factories. When you're in a commercial capital like Lagos(like New York, like Tokyo), you get access to other support networks, like the audit and accounting firms, legal services, consulting, talents, etc. The goal here is to see us doing well as a whole though, none of us is greater than all of us.

Thank you, nothing wrong with the system the people are call corrupt minded and wishing for an utopia which they don't deserve as homeboy said there is a reason why we shifted to Federalism copying the Americans,America fought their own civil war when the south wanted to secede,Abraham Lincoln and the Republocan party won the election and subsequently won the war,USA is still one till today even though California will be the 6th richest country if it were an independent state,Nigeria's Federalism is one of the best because it is copy and paste, the people who are to pilot the plane are just bad people since 1960 till date, people like Buhari that want to change they chase them away in 1985 by babaginda mr maradonna and today the evil minded citizens wishing him dead but nothing is new under the sun, even Moses was despised by the people that had been in slavery for 400 years, the same people that spoilt Nigeria are the ones shouting restructuring, not more than 8 states in the Federation send money to the Federation Account, people in states that depend on federal allocation are shouting restructuring and no one has stopped them from tapping into their resources,no one has stopped the Niger Delta states individually or collectively from building a refinery(s)or petrol chemical industries,if they built any industries when the governors are leaving power they will sell it to themselves like midwestern oil, then they will say it is the Hausa people that is the problem, maybe it is Aminu Kano that stole the money in Delta State or it is Waziri Ibrahim that stole the money in Bayelsa and Rivers State? the truth is that you can't give what you don't have, just a misguided race of the most populated black nation in the world. No matter the system, region(zoo) an animal will still be an animal. There is nothing to restructure people like the governors, senators and local government chairmen that have not rendered account to the people,we want to go and give more powers to them, the number one problem with Nigeria today is hate for Buhari,we do not want change corruption will fight back like it did in 1984.
Our present 'federalism' is a very warped one sir and very different from USA's. It was instituted by the millitary to suit the millitaristic approach of a few robots micro-managing from the centre, to weaken the ethnic nationalities and control them as they see fit. American states, as the federating units there, control their own destinies, utilize their resources, have their own police force, and pay 'tax' to the Fed. Reverse is the case here; if you have gold in Ilesha or Gombe, you can't mine it at will for your own good but wait for FG, so some the FG take the oil for example, sell it and give you 'allocation' each month. It has not worked, it is not working, there's no indication that it will work tomorrow.

If such restructuring is done in Nigeria it may nt favour the West that much because why the population of Lagos is this much is because of the functional Port there. If this happens the Calabar, warri, and rivers port will pick up and migration to Lagos will reduce drastically, intact some people will move back to their regions.Lagos is economically viable because of its large population.
If this happens the source of revenue generation of Lagos will reduce too.
My thoughts though.
Whatever has advantages has disadvantages.
Yeah, you're right. People are attracted to where opportunities are, and Lagos will still remain viable. The advantages still far outweighs the disadvantages, so let's do this. Overpopulation is a big headache for Lagos as it is and with a population of about 350m by 2050, it's not really gonna go away.

okine4real:
what most of us dont know is, if Nigeria is restructured properly, Lagos would go down. Lagos would be more affected reason i believe is as follows.

Lagos is the only Major seaport currently being used in Nigeria. If the country is restructured, other states that has sea would make there sea useful eg Warri, PH, Calabar even Anambra would dredge river river and whether you like it or not little ships would operate there. With this, revenue generated for Lagos via seaport would be reduced.

International Airport: With restructuring most states would have international airport. If you remember during uncle Jona regime, one regions was opposing the upgrading of Enugu airport to international airport. Now people from the east dont need to come to Lagos anymore, they can now fly out of Nigeria from Enugu, so because of this, revenue for local flight and international flight operating was reduced and it would lead to reduced tax paid to Lagos.

Courier: I dont think DHL, UPS Fedex etc operate in Ekiti. Even if they operate, they would be very very small. But if ekiti has for example has international Airport, UPS would not need to land goods meant for Ekiti in Lagos first before it would then be transported to Ekiti. So if goods are transported to Ekiti directly via flight, it means people would need to build more houses to house this workers, by building more houses development would grow in the state.

Transportation: One thing Lagos enjoys is Population. Lagos generates alot of revenue from transport. remember that the more other states develop, people would be moving out of Lagos. for example, If i work in Lagos and am paid 100k, now i need to wake up 5.am daily to get to work on time, i have a rent of 300k to pay yearly, school fee per child 45k average. but if i get joy vacancy in Ekiti and i would earn 80k and am a native of ekiti i would go there because am sure of free house and also am sure of building my own house because land would be cheap or even free.

One of the benefit of proper restructuring is, it would encourage almost everybody to go back home and make ends meet because there would be development everywhere in the country. know region and state would want to be left behind. i would stop for now because am tired. Anybody can also add positive argument.
For an economy the size of Nigeria and where we'll be(in population terms) by 2050 according to reliable projections, 1 or 2 ports shows unseriousness on our part. The US and the UK has more than 20 busy seaports each. Lagos status as a commercial capital will hardly change though.

Now this is how to sell what Nigerians will buy. I like the way you write. What you didn't include is how to get there. Stripping this f****d constitution and formulating another(or adopting 1963s), making the political system more open, etc. I have a feeling you're part of Atiku's team(just a gut feeling, no biggie).

thanks for the write up. sir what do you manufacture and where is your factory. I'm a business graduate manufacturing is a 19th century idea. though it is indispensable but there are new ways to earn faster than manufacturing.
Manufacturing isn't a 19th century idea, the growth rate has declined in Europe and North America, but the size is not shrinking(talk about reaching the peak). For Nigeria(and Africa), there's a very big manufacturing gap which needs to be filled. The problem affecting a lot of people is seeking "fast ways" of making money, as seen in your post too. It's true that we need IT(I reckon you're talking about tech startups when you said faster) to leapfrog our developmental curve, but the massive infrastructure deficit needs massive industrial activity.

I am really scared of Nigeria's future. 20 years from now, we will be asking ourselves how we got colonized economically all over again. We keep running around trying to fix our problems from the top and without direction. I expect him to have listed 3 or 4 local companies and add "and our foreign partners". I live in Port-Harcourt. The world has become a global village so any good practice aboard should be replicated here and one of such is vermicomposting for organic farming. I also want to breed the black soldier fly, but yet to get the feed stock to commence either in larve or pupae stage. I am hoping We can get help on this forum in this regard.

Anyone that can help. Please contact me my mail through this forum. It would be much appreciated.
I'm equally an organic guy, especially when it comes to fruit and veggies. I'll beep you if I find any leads.

Yes I have a red worm bin it is about 2 months old now very beautiful looking vermicompost in my bin. I understand It is the best organic fertilizer. I am a backyard farmer for now with a pilot aquaponics farm and now I plan to raise some tomatoes and other crops using the vermicompost also as a pilot to see the outcome. I am an advocate for organic food void of the chemicals from commercial fertilizers. There is a plan to expand when I have acquired the experience.
This is the kind of stuff I like too. Do you stay home or abroad. I asked because it's the first time I see anyone with a red worm bin in his backyard here. I'd like to put together a BSFL bin too to feed chickens and for a small backyard clarias pond.

@ CeeteeOoo The money has been smelling around me for some months now. There is a BSF website that maps BSF sighting around the world. It would be nice to provide an update on this website that BSF are in Nigeria because right now it is shown to be present only in South Africa, Ghana and Kenya. Imagine the social economic benefit of this insect. I have basically concluded that this insect was created by God to serve man. I am amazed at their value.
Insects are going to be a major part of human nutrition(directly and indirectly) in the not so distant future. I even read a FAO report recently and they backed their call for more insect inclusion in our diets with a Bible verse from Leviticus 6 or thereabouts. I found that very interesting. By the way, you mentioned you vermicompost with redworms, are you a backyard gardener/farmer? I learnt they make very good organic manure.

Nigerians love Nigeria deep down. Nigerians may grumble and call Nigerians names, but an outsider that dare put mouth is in for a roast. As much as Nigeria youth seems like a time bomb, it's now obvious that they could be a potential world shaker too. If I were the president today, I'll just fix power and provide infrastructures, then I'll leave the rest to the youths. 5 years+ Nigeria will be on its way to one of the top 20 economies of the world.

Govt of mediocrity for people who worship mediocrity.

The baby playing Table Tennis is not up to 10 months, because he couldn't stand up, but he was already knocking back more than half the balls served at him. The gymnast was not over 3 years of age. The swimmer is like 1.5 years, cannot pass 2 years old. And that little boxer?? Sweet Lord, that kid has talent.

This summer, what has your child done??

the line "government of mediocre for people who worship mediocrity" captures it all. And majority of Nigerian parents also inputs this into the kids. They want you to be comfortable, but not really great or famous. They extol the likes of Gani Fawehinmi but they warn their kids not to be involved in politics/activism. They talk all the time about Okocha and Kanu but tell the kids to 'read their books' all time, chasing the ones with passion for football away from the field and beating him. Mediocrity is daily infused in us and it is very sad! The roads and homes are built to last for 3years. This mediocrity also cuts across all levels, from the poor to the rich. The whole nation needs a 'spiritual' reworking.
