Experience has taught me that most services providers on Nairaland care little about their reputation. It is bad and may continue to be so even in the near future.

MY EXPERIENCE


Some months ago, I contacted someone (name withheld but MOST be disclosed later) to supply me LONG SPAN ROOFING SHEETS of 0.45MM. The sheets were supplied as agreed.

His staffs also roofed the house as agreed. I was happy and TAUGHT that Nairaland has helped to cut off GREEDY ALUMINUM COMPANIES.

Little did I know that it was a case of penny wise pound foolish.

Within ONE MONTH of the roofing of the house, I discovered that several places were leaking water. I had to engage someone to seal the holes. It turns out to be a case of one week one trouble.

I promptly confronted the service provider to express my dissatisfaction with the services he rendered. He promised to visit the site to assess the extent of the leakage and proffer solution. I NEVER held from him till date

This led me to investigate the MM of the sheets to determine if the actual MM was supplied. It was a FRAUD. The sheets supplied were below .45MM agreed to.

As at today, I have taken steps to seal every nail on the roofing sheets and equally seal ever holes. Experts have however told me that as time goes on the sheets will give way. It is a disaster waiting to happen.

Interestingly, the service provider has a thread that has been active for more than 5 years...He is a man of reputation you may say.


I thought of going to the thread to pour out my lamentation but I did not. However, I have removed my feedback on the services he rendered to me from the thread.

My people, MOST of them are looking for ways to cut corners and enrich themselves at your detriment. SHINE YOUR EYE

I will post the piteous state of the house that was roofed not more than 6 months ago.

It is a disaster. I will add it to my archives as one of my mistakes in my life journey.

Medical doctors at Cedarcrest Hospital, in Apo District of Abuja, have efficiently operated on a 13-month-old child, Michael Duniya, who was viciously attacked by a pit bull at Mambilla Barracks, Abuja, on Tuesday, October 8.

Cedarcrest Hospitals was the place Yusuf, son of President Muhammadu Buhari, was first handled following his accident on an influence bike in December 2017.

Our Reporters gathered that the black dog, believed to be a pit bull, reportedly broke free from its cage and wandered off into the block the place little Michael was taking part in together with his four-year-old brother.

Upon seeing the dog, his older brother instantly fled into the home, however Michael was not fast sufficient because the dog pounced on him.

The dog subsequently grabbed Michael by the head and pulled him about 30 metres away and had bitten him repeatedly.

A neighbour, who wished to stay nameless, stated she shortly raised the alarm.

The dog needed to be killed before the infant could possibly be rescued from its lethal grip, our Correspondent reported.

Pls this will be a bit a long. I beg you to read. So you can understand better.


My problem started last year April (2018). I was diagnosed with typhoid and malaria. I was started on a course of treatment that involves anti malaria and an antibiotics (azithromycin). I noticed the quality of my sleep was dropping after taking the antibiotic for 2 days. My instincts was that it was the medicine. I eventually stopped taking it but by then my sleep have become badly affected. I woke up a Sunday morning after taking some drinks the previous night at a wedding with one severe type of headache ( I started the antibiotics on Thursday, took on Friday and missed it that Saturday) I continued that Sunday morning. So I eventually stopped all medicine and consulted a doctor friend. By then I had gone two nights with little or no sleep. He prescribed some drugs that was meant to induce sleep and even increased the dosage yet I still couldn't sleep.

Meanwhile before then, I am someone who could be called a sleeper. I can sleep at anytime without stress. I even take naps here and there in my office. So it was strange.

I eventually went to some hospitals and their treatment involved giving me sleep medicines and sometimes it could help me get very little amount of sleep and then it will make me feel very groggy and heavily fatigued. By this time a weird sensation have developed in the left side of my back head (this pain doesn't come and go... It is permanent). After spending some huge amounts I wasn't getting relief until I went to a neurologist. He first suspended all the sleep medications and started giving me amitriptyline 5mg every night ( after few days I started feeling better and had some deep sleep) but still the problem wasn't gone ( head pain and stiff neck).

I was paying about 30k monthly at the neurologists. It wasn't sustainable and I eventually stopped and decided to take my fate in my own hands. I eventually stopped taking any medication for sleep last November.

Between then and now, I have had some good nights where I slept very deeply and nights when I struggled. I have gone like 2 weeks without sleep issues. But still the pain in the back of the head and neck still persist.

Just yesterday I went to consult another gp and his diagnosis was that it was the poor sleep that is causing the pain in the head and neck. But I still find it difficult to believe. I will be having a video session with an Indian neurologist tommorow and I hope he will make a different diagnosis.

My coming here is to know if anyone have had an experience with my case and I would like to know how they solved their problem.

I will appreciate any suggestion that will be of help.

Good morning. I had similar issue some years ago. My doctor diagnose TENSION HEADACHE and gave me amitriptyline 5mg. My God. I slept and slept and slept. Before the medication, I was treating Malaria and typhoid almost every week. The sleep is even a side effect of the drug.

The amitriptyline 5mg really came handy. I no longer treat malaria every week. The doctor later increased the dosage years later.

The headache may be associated with the way and manner you discontinued the amitriptyline 5mg. I will suggest you restart the amitriptyline 5mg. God's speed in your journey to full recovery

Please lawyers in the house kindly correct me if am wrong. I have a fixed term 1 year tenant agreement with my tenant and his tenancy is valid from sept 2018 to sept 2019. But due her imoral behaviour of smoking indian hemp, bringing questionable characters at home and coming late at odd hours like 2 am , 3am etc. i gave her warning letter and yet she disobeyed my warning and i now issue her quit notice starting from March 1st 2019 to end at 30th of september 2019 (7 months) thou her tenancy expires by september 8th 2019. You should have sought for legal opinion before issuing the notice to quit. It is purely a waste of time issuing her a 6 months notice when the tenancy will terminate by September, 2019. You should have waited till the end of September, 2019 and issue her a 7 days notice to quit. This is because her tenancy expires in September, 2019.

Alternatively, you should have issued her a notice of increment of rent. The duration may be provided for in a tenancy agreement. In the absence of such duration, it is ONE month notice of increment of rent

Suck away/septic tank concrete work

Lastly consider where you will have all these concrete work CARPENTER will need to work there for the form work so something not too far from 1m will go for this.

Morning house.

I have a building I want to paint with satin paint but I'm holding back because of the cost. Someone is advising me as an alternative to use simple emulsion paint and apply PVA after it has dried to give it a shinny, waterproof finish.
Has anyone tried this or expernced the outcome?

Possible, you can install back splash at sink level. I believe this would take care of water coming in contact with your wall and prevent your paint from losing its appealing qualities in quick time.

Screeding on a damp wall is even worse. It would perpetually be soggy with growth on it and paint would still peel off together with it.

How does one solve it if it is just a DAMP?

Will the undercoat take care of DAMPNESS?

Wall paper is the last thing you would want to apply on the wall sir.
With the issue of damp walls, one has to identify and understand the source of water.
For the plaster to be coming off shows that it has been on for some time and it's significant.
If it's from across the wall, you may use paints that allows water to ran off the surface fast for the external.
If it's from the ground, the ideal prevention would have been using waterproof membrane at the foundation stage but in the absence of that, you may landscape the floor in a manner that water runs off easily to the drainage.
It may also help if there are no garden or growth close to the building that would retain water.
If all that fails, then you may apply undercoat inside to seal the wall. preferably up to the ceiling level so that the damp mark and peeling doesn't appear above it if applied halfway.
With the undercoat, water would still look for other weak spot to escape, so it may reappear elsewhere which is why the best option is to identify the source first and deal with it.

This is opening a new chapter to me. I thought the undercoat will suffice but it would appear that the undercoat MAY just prevent the water from coming out from a particular spot.

HOW CAN ONE DEAL WITH IT FINALLY

Noted sir, but will the oil based paint not increase the heat level in the kitchen?

Understandably, you have your reasons for wanting to substitute tiles for paint, it's best you use oil based paint for that part of the wall. oil based gloss paint hold up well to regular contact with water.

Nigerian criminal law is not the same as that of the United State. In Nigeria, a rape allegation must be corroborated. If 30 women testified that he raped them, they will each need one form of corroboration before the court can reach a verdict of guilt.
