WebmastersRe: Facebook Makes Us Sad (Research). Duh? by RuuDie(m): 8:51am On Jan 22, 2012
It doesn't really matter if the research was wholly centered on FB or not. . . . .but if we really want to be honest with ourselves, sometimes we catch ourselves flipping through the photos of people we don't even know thinking"damn. . . . I wish it was me!"
I don't know about you but I do know I have found myself in such a situation many times. So essentially, while some of the conclusions are flawed, in reality we don't rocket science analysis to tell us that the 'impressions' about other people we get from some of these social networks sometimes makes us have a less than pleasant view of ourselves!

From Yaba to TBS yesterday. . . . .protest rally was really well organized; no major incident of note recorded. Even in the heart of Lagos Island where the atmosphere was a bit tense, protesters just went about their business as peacefully as possible - very impressively coordinated!
Car TalkRe: Help With Driving Manual Car by RuuDie(op): 9:01am On Jan 09, 2012
Siena:
RuuDie, I'm sorry to be blunt. I think your best bet is either to stick to automatics, or take PROFESSIONAL driving lessons with manual. Driving is something that needs to be learnt, and mastered properly, before you hit the road. Safety is paramount, both for driver, and other road users.

Whilst you may pick up the basics in terms of driving a manual by asking questions online, it's no substitute for the real thing - being properly tutored, in real-world situations. Please, look for a driving school in your area, and take proper driving lessons.
Bluntness appreciated and points very well noted but I don't think you should under-estimate what your or any other contributor's two kobo's worth could go a long way in doing to drivers, be it learners or pros.
And yes, the basics is what I seek and yes again, I don't reckon it can ever take the place of the real thing but it does help in a way.
Car TalkRe: Help With Driving Manual Car by RuuDie(op): 9:48am On Jan 08, 2012
Personally my challenges:

When I start-up and get into gear one, the car 'dies' most times once I start releasing the clutch and depressing the accelerator. . . .

I am fairly comfortable switching between gears one and two; just don't know when to switch to three and beyond. . . .

huh
Car TalkHelp With Driving Manual Car by RuuDie(op): 9:43am On Jan 08, 2012
I know 'manual' cars are very much becoming a thing of the past but we do still have a couple around and I personally, am yet to come to grips with certain aspects of 'em.

Post difficulties you encounter while driving yours and hopefully some expert(s) will come along and give a hand!

the most sensible comment in the heap of dross. . . .

united are where they are because of the injuries. the team has been so unstable personnel wise to build on a run.
apportioning blames to a winger who hasn't featured for a while because of injuries is not the reason we lost 2 games on a bounce.
matter of fact, that we are just 2 points below man city after these injuries is a testament to the man-management of the coaching crew.

i would take 3 points off man city in april, never mind early january!
man utd are still equipped to win the title when the crocked ones return back to the team.
i'm proud of my team so far. if any other club suffers what united have been through this season, they would be 10th in the league.
My sentiments exactly. . . . .was so surprised to see that Gunner (Debosky) of all fans, sees more sense in our predicament than most UTD fans!
Like SAF himself said after the Newcastle game, "No Panic. . ." and if the gaffer doesn't know best, I don't know who does!

I could not agree more with SAF punishing Rooney the way he did - it is apt IMHO; whether that had an influence in costing us the match is a question for another day but I doubt that it did.

PhonesRe: Eto To Launch Own Mobile Network In Cameroon by RuuDie(m): 1:47pm On Dec 30, 2011
What else can be said about this dude --- Samuel Eto'o Fils --- a true African legend; Lion Heart in every sense of the word.

Even if the business flops in the end, but just the fact that he even thought of it shows you he is alive to what is happening in his country, he feels the pulse of the people and wants to make a change.

I really do not care if this thread was solely created to ridicule or mock the first lady or even the entire first family. . . . . . .they have only themselves to blame for allowing it get to this level!

Really, I cover my head in shame. . . . . .the lady in question here holds degrees from Naija higher institutions and has served in various offices and capacities (going by the Wiki bio) - how does this reflect on us as a people generally; our educational system, even our processes of employment!? We should really be worried. . . . .
I don't know why the people close to her are not trying to help her 'brush up'; for all we know sef, this might well be another gimmick by the ruling party, this is afterall, politics and it is only the end that justifies whatever they seek - but if its only gonna take such 'public lambasting' to get that woman 'upgraded' or quietened significantly, then so be it, I so no reason why she shouldn't be mocked and laughed at!
PoliticsRe: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by RuuDie(m): 10:08am On Dec 30, 2011
Well, I reckon we shouldn't all prematurely assume that the protest has fizzled to nothingness. . . . .there's a million and one other ways to hurt the LCC-LASG alliance - best of all would be ACN losing a huge chunk of the SW in coming polls. So. . . . . . . It ain't over till the fat lady sings!

Effiko:
What Martinez had to say ---
Martinez: What Manchester United have is mentality. They adapt to adversity. You can see everyone taking responsibility and using that to get a result. That is the biggest strength they have had for 25 years. That is why any team that wants to win the league, beyond any sort of money, or any sort of players you want to bring in, need to beat Manchester United mentally. That is the biggest battle.
Spot on!

As if they themselves are not Nigerians.

@ Topic,

Its the same in all shoprites in Lagos; Lekki, Surulere. . . . .I reckon Alausa won't be any different. Problem actually is there might not be enough room to make out one long, ordered queue so the spill-over, others hovering close to the counter jostling for a place to hang or trying to jump places essentially gives the look of disorganization we see in the pics. People just like the bread and truth be told, the bread is good; the fact that its sold fresh, sizzling hot also enhances its appeal.

we played well today. . . . .carrick seems to have found his mojo back!

the front 4 did well. nani has found his form back, let's hope he doesn't get injured.
rooney and welbeck dove-tailed very well. . . .the back four looked untroubled and i think lindegaard has some quality in him!

we need to paste wigan n blackburn and cop all the 6 points.
chasing city would be fun next year - let's hope they can last the distance.
C'mon dude. . . . . . Lindegaard is CLASS!
Any defender would love to have such a goalie behind him. . . . . . .his demeanor exudes confidence, composure and total control over his domain. From the very first time I watched him against So'ton, I felt we didn't need to buy 'a high price tag goalie'. Well, no harm in having two very good goalkeepers to call on anywhere, anytime grin

Errm. . . . . .wasn't the planned alternative to the tolled route supposed to be a much longer 'coastal road'; how come it is Alhaji Oniru's backyard and I thought the terms of the contract clearly included/stated construction of the Coastal Road before commencement of tolling!?
